Dougda, the pool is ready but I'm not. The water is clean but probably a cool 60 degrees or less. Not ready to join the polar bear club yet.
Got the outside Christmas lights down today with help from my son. Christmas tree (artificial) with train around it are still up. I'm in no rush for that. Friend wants to bring something over for a test run.
Got a new DVD belatedly for Christmas. It was the Disney film "The Great Locomotive Chase" starring Fess Parker. I already had it on video tape but the DVD is a little sharper.
Thinking about a place to eat out tonight. Wife and I are both too tired to cook.
I spent some time in the train room today but did not turn a wheel. Instead just played some good music from CD's out there. Temp was pretty warm in the garage today but nothing like summer.
Iowa politics are finally over, now we will get another dose from New Hampshire. I can hardly wait to see who the leader of the week will be.

Evening all!
Nice day here. 50's. Got the 2001 GMC truck inspected. All was good. Only 93,000 miles. The wifes car, a 2002 Acura MDX just hit 100,000 miles today. The wife took a photo with her phone of the odometer at 100,000. We also have a 2009 Tahoe with only 10,000 miles - we use it only for trips and towing the boat. Then there are the two kids cars....
Dennis - the weather in the Chattannoga area last week was beautiful. We did a hike on one of the Cumberland trails and it was warm enough to not wear a jacket for much of the 4 hr hike.
LAZ - amazing the strength one can conjure up!
Chuck - S Carolina is nice. My cousin lives in N Carolina. And you would be close to the Chief!
Ray - The Great Locomotive Chase is great Seeing all those historic locos running is fantastic.
Regards, Roy
Chuck....If you would move to S.C, we could load snow onto a CSX train and you coud have a more accurate shot at Roseyville with the snow cannon.

Roy,Have you, or do you know anyone, who has added a smoke unit to the Lionel Hobo campfire accessory? I bought one and I think adding smoke to it is a must... a fire without smoke doesn't look real.
Sounds like a neat project, 88! I have one of those, but never thought about adding smoke. You could put a smoke unit under the table with a tube/chimney going up to fire. I'm sure you could put some kind of little fan in there or something?
Kev - sorry, was trying to talk to you, but had to move cause my leg was hurting and took a while to get over it.
Jack - I had an adventure with a faucet like that - the nut stripped due to the crappy "wrench" they provided and was turning the faucet, which I could not see being underneath. Finally, my wife and I traded places and that was the solution - I saw what was happening. Undid it all, fixed the thread, and then managed to do it right the last time. PS - I thought that solder would just bounce/roll off, but it stuck in a fold on my shirt - what a surprise!!!
TARDIS is ready, let's go.

Cold but not like the last two days and nights. Mid 60's by weekend. Switched out third Droid for another. Don't want to speak too soon but this one is working. Verizon guy had to activate on a toll free. He told me to get another type. Droids were bad. Manger keeps promising to do that and never gets back.

Chief - I've had my Thunderbolt (Android) for about a year and don't have any problems - other than I can't post to the CTT forum on it.Droids and Android phones blow that blowhard company's phone out of the water. Plus the more I learn about the iSad2 the happier I am that I bought TheQ a Toshiba Thrive Android tablet. Bought the tablet, a bluetooth keyboard, case, and bluetooth mouse for alot less than I would have dropped on an iSad2. With the iSad2 you have to buy this that and the other thing in order to do anything with it other than play games. The Thrive comes with a micro USB port, and a regular USB port that make expansion much easier - for the iSad2 you have to buy an extra device for that...Brutus - yeah it shouldn't be hard, but I would like to know if it has been done before I go about trying it and possibly ruining the accessory...
Evening All,
What a day, again! First, DougDG, John, et al., the pool is ready anytime, will stoke up the grill also.
Everyone's been talking about the cars, this is what I've been going through the past couple of weeks;
- 2 weeks ago our 2005 Van, (150k), lost the transmission, Got it back a week ago yesterday. (Picked up the van, left the Buick.)
- Buick, 2002 (80k), dies intermittently, decelerating, or making a right turn. Some module replace, drive for 2 days, same problem. Back in shop yesterday.
- Take El Camino to work today, '87, 330k, get off work will not turn-over. Check "kill switch", turn alarm system off, check cable tightness, have wife bring van with cables. No luck, still wont turn over. Call for tow truck, tow it home. Drop it off in driveway, driver leaves. Then, I say to the wife, "Watch, I'll bet it will start now. Get key close to the ignition and starts right up! 2 Things happen while being towed. First mechanic calls and Buick ready to be picked up. Tell him will be there as soon as El Camino is towed home. Then Kay gets a call from Chris. He is out in the desert again with a friend. The truck (friends) looses transmission. They have to drive 40 miles in 1st gear to get to a tow truck. End up having truck towed 98 miles to Victorville.
Discover the 27 year old alarm system is causing the problem in the El Camino. Going to pull it out tomorrow.
Finally put it all aside and went to the train club, enjoyable evening, except found out the treasurer isnt doing well at all. May not have very long.
So HOPEFULLY tomorrow after I get off work will have some train room time.
Weather here was REALLY hot ! In the mid 80's.

Jeff.........make sure you have the Doctor write you a note, addressed to your Mom, that says you are not permitted to lift, relocate, move, adjust, touch, or shop for furniture.
By the way, I think your story about all of your furniture escapades at your Mom's was the best story ever on the POT.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill RR....
It is a cold 32 degrees. Going up to 48 today with, maybe, some sunshine.
Today is a busy day. I have chores to do and a few errands to run. Not much else new here.
Dining car is here with an omlet for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.

It must be Spring Time in the Rockies, it's been in the 60F's for a few days now and all the snow in the front yard has melted off. Now the backyard (north side) is still mostly covered but the grass is starting to show more and more each day now. They say maybe this weekend we might be only in the 40F's and get some new white stuff and then back onto the 50F's by Monday.

Fought with the tractor battery in 22 degree weather and windy. Finally got it fixed. Cows needed hay. I'll bet Banks can appreciate this!
You deer hunters - come on over. We see 15-20 deer eating in the pastures every day. Turkeys too - counted 28 this morning.

Aloha. As Kev says, might hit mid-40s today - Yay global warming! Fife, is that, could it be... the Family Truckster? We need one in O scale. Brent, glad you like the Android tab and phones. Personally, not much of a fan, but love to hack it - we're happy swimming in the Apple ecosystem here. Found a nice Trainz app the other day.

Morning all. Above freezing all night and going into the 50's today. Mid 60's tomorrow and Sat.
Been lazy and cooked full breakfast. Then watched DVR'd coyote and fox hunting on TV. Now getting ready for a short meeting.
Guy coming to see about moving the box. Getting different contractor. Found out this guy fishes with his Dad in my pond. Also $500 cheaper. I'm sure he will do a "personal" job.

With Droid, I hit HTML and then highlight the post area. Then you get keyboard and can type but only runs on a single line above. Then hit update and then go to post.

Doug - I spoke with about 20 people about the iPad vs Android tablets and the only people who preferred the iPad over the Android tablets were those who have Apple products and most found the Android tablets more 'business' oriented and the iPad more 'entertainment' oriented.TheQ will be using her tablet when she travels to access her online courses, grade papers, post to the classroom, and update the grades. She also wants to be able to surf the internet and since many sites are using Flash and Adobe has repeatedly stated that they will never support Apple (or was it the other way around) there simply is no justification for going iPad (especially when they cost, on average, $200 more than the Android tablets). The lack of expandability also played into the decision.---Daughter1.0 update - Christina is starting to get better at sitting on her own, she has also started to pull herself up at times (she can't yet from a laying position). We're starting to work more and more with her on her motorskills and she seems to be a quick learner. She is eating carrots, apple sauce, sweet potatoes, pears, and green beans, and seems to enjoy them, she did not appear to like peas (TheQ isn't giving up on them yet)... oh and she HATES the rice cereal (we found this out last night during dinner. she forces herself to vomit the cereal backup, so I think we're giving up on that). She is also working on her vocalizations, not really talking, but just making noises... it is quite comical. She is growing like a weed on Miracle Grow! Not much else going on... just work.
Konbanwa and Ohayo (O-hi-o for Chuck),
Yes, it is 12:41 AM Friday morning for me. I just finished some schoolwork and will be off to bed momentarily. I felt better today and had an easy day at work. The wife had plans to meet a girlfriend for dinner so I took the two older kids for a quick bite to eat at the Japanese curry house - it was scrumptious. I did catch the WV-Clemson game this morning as well. Wow, Clemson's defense must have missed the flight. I have to wake up for work in six hours - TGIF.
SJ - The last issue of CTT I received was the December issue so you're way ahead of me on the reading.
Dougdagrump - I received a reply to my email. No help.

Went to see the doc this morning. Got a general checkup, EKG, blood test and urinalyses done. I'm sure they'll enjoy billing Medicaid for all that. Got all my prescriptions refilled. Too late to take the morning meds but I'll be sure to hit the evening meds tonight. I was using my mothers car today at her insistence as my old tank doesn't get good gas mileage. Maybe 13 mpg on a good day. That's OK, I enjoy driving her G6. In manual mode the acceleration is a crazy kind of wild. 0-60 in I don't know how fast but it was quick! After I left the docs office I went to the pharmacy to get the meds. That was a bit of a wait as they had a lot to get together. After I picked all the stuff up and was at the checkout I looked out the door and saw a young lady standing in front of my mothers car. I told the cashier 'Watch this'. I pressed the start button on the remote and the cars headlights flashed and it started up. The lady was caught of guard and she jumped back a couple of feet. Got home just a little after noon and I'll be taking it easy the rest of the day.Oh, and we all better get up and exercise more. It's claimed that sitting too long causes cancer!
Good morning all,
Jeffrey, glad you are able to see the doc again and get your meds. Second the motion on your furniture moving story. Funny stuff!
D.Baker, that's a real horror story about your car troubles. At least you weren't stranded somewhere but sounds like Chris almost was. Hope you get all the problems resolved.
Ordered one of the new WBB Baldwin 10 wheeler steam engines this morning. I got the Santa Fe version which is all black and plan to motify it to resemble another road name. Maybe ACL but depends on wheather I can get any decals or not. I plan to use it with my MTH 64' woodside open platform passenger cars. Friend of mine has one and it ran real good on my layout. Its very quiet and smooth. Has a whistle, bell and smoke unit but no sound. That's OK with me.
Firefighter neighbor next door had neck surgery on Tuesday. He's the one with the Collie dogs. Don't know the outcome yet since his wife is staying near the hospital where he is. He is a good guy and I hope it turns out well for him. He has suffered a lot of wear and tear on his body after 30 years with the fire department. He is being forced to retire with disability but hates to do it. I think he really loved the job. I know the feeling. As much as I hated some of the hours and hardships on the railroad, it was hard to walk away from it on that last day. I looked at my engine and thought to myself, this is the last time you will operate one of these--ever. I'm doing good since then though, at least psychologically, and couldn't work on the railroad now, even if I wanted to.
Hi Guys, Holy Cow Rebel weather today 54 degrees and sun. Thanks Chief., Heck I saw bugs in the air here today. I told them to head south ASAP. Bet we hit 60 tomorrow. Stayed out all day. Took a walk in the woods then I had to change oil on two cars that were one of my best friends, who passed about 14 months ago. The big C........His wife and granddaughter came buy with them and I did the oil changes and looked everything over for her. Sure felt different with Dave not here to BS with but it was good for Sandra and his wife to hook up for awhile. Only went into the basement to show the train layout to them, otherwise nothing going on with the trains. It was nice to get back in the shed and do some car work. First time in about 4 month. I got a heck of a nice shed to not use it but things change as we age.

Decent Southern weather. Fox hunted until dark. Fox Pro didn't produce a thing. Started with rabbit in distress, then bay rabbit in distress, then vole and, close to dark, a short blast of female gray fox in distress. Same place we killed 13 in two months last year. Figured that others had moved in. Fred has deer hunted it and says seen no foxes this year, where as, last year before our "house cleaning", he saw two or three each evening from his stand. We saw lots of them running around just at dark and lots of "barking". Nothing this year and nothing tonight as I stayed after dark to listen.

Yes, wore bug suit all this deer season. Had a mosquito or two visit me each evening last week.
Getting ready to move the "box" [train house] to the back yard.
Glad Yankee weather gone.
