Morning gang.  Been up since 5:30 practicing wave so RT will not be ashame of me. Bow

Prayers for Rich. Angel  Get better fast.

Kev, I use to watch AMC all the time.  Then they went to commercials.  Still watched until they got too many commercials.  Now watch TCM and some other channels with less commercials.  DVR some shows and fast forward through commercials.  Just got to watch Blue Bloods DVR'd [also on Demand but faster from DVR].  Half the show was commercials.

Very warm today for a Christmas Parade.

Have a great week.  God bless all.

Kevin, I was going to post about the Plymouth switcher, but seems everything is OK now.  I have three or four sets, can't remember how many.  I also picked up some of the box car sets that came with scale couplers.  I think I may even have a set of Skelton log cars that will go with them too.  Fun sets to be sure.

  Dennis,

If you can see if you can get me the part number of the Skelton log cars that will go with them. That would be a great match for my logging site.

This set has the KayDee style scale couplers and I have ordered the 0 gauge ones from Train Dr. The set looks to be from 2005 from what I can tell.

Good morning,

Just a hi to everyone from north central Illinois.

Dreary, damp and 48 degrees now, but temps are going to drop all day and the wind is going to pick up.

Wife and the cat are still sleeping.    Sleep   I was watching Hell On Wheels on AMC but too many commercials. I like the old trains on that show.

No big plans and no parts to work with today so should be a lazy day here.

I may go and get some parts for Roy’s master plan for my shed HVAC for something to do.

DougM,

How was the trip to Lewis U?

RT. I forgot but I need to do our cards today too. So now I have something else to do. Smile, Wink & Grin

Thanks to all of you who helped me with answers and suggestions on the Plymouth switcher issues I had yesterday.  Yes

Later,

Kev.

Konbanwa,

The wife let me sleep in a little this morning.  Tomorrow, I start my first class towards my MBA and I was up late last night doing some pre-reading.  For the next 18 months I will probably average about five hours a sleep a night.  We went to church this morning and then had lunch at a new burrito restaurant that just opened on base.  It was nothing special and I doubt we will go back any time soon.  The two older kids and I then raked leaves and rigged up some outdoor lights.  I have a few more strands I would like to rig up tomorrow.  The wife made clam chowder for dinner tonight which was perfect for the cooler weather we are having.  It's time for me to hit the books.

RT - I'm glad you are feeling better.  You have a lot of projects planned; don't overdo it.

Stourbridge - Welcome

Sayonara,

Joe

Good morning. It's 65° and cloudy. The high will be 72°. It will be cloudy with a 50% chance of showers.

Today I plan to have a general cleanup on the layout. There's quite a bit of clutter from recent projects and it's starting to take over. Yesterday I had to make repairs on an Athearn tractor trailer as the fifth wheel had broken off. A drop of super glue later and it was back where it belonged, after I peeled my fingertip off the back of the truck that is. I gave a good two hours to dry before reattaching the trailer so there was no possibility of them being permanently joined. I also went to Lowe's to get two bottles of super glue gel, two rolls of one inch wide masking tape, three mis-tinted paint samples, a new light switch and ten rolls of paper towels. Then on to Wal-Mart to get the second half of the grocery shopping done. Wal-Mart was a mad house as it seemed everybody else had the same idea. Today I'll be recovering from that.

Reclinerized too long.  All the blow ups in the front are up and shining.  Now Wifey wants one in the back.  Picked up more dusk to dawn timers and drop cords.  Parade at 2 PM tomorrow.  Got my wave "down pat".  Wifey, Lucy, Finn and self ride in back of pickup.  Sleep tight.

Good evening all,

I hope Dennis V8 Vega and D.Baker or anyone else in Southern California will see this post.  I just learned that the Christmas meet at TTOS Southwestern in Arcadia California tomorrow has been cancelled because of power outages in that City.

Mixed bag of weather today.  Mostly rain and windy.  The sun did make an appearance for the Christmas parade mid-morning today.

Got the wiring in place on my Polar Express layout.  Tomorrow, we'll 'make it snow' on the layout. Hopefully, more progress pictures tomorrow.

Fastrack wiring tip - If you use push on connectors without insulators, plug them into the tabs on the end of the sections of Fastrack that do not have the metal strip connecting the outside rails to each other or use heat shrink tubing on the connectors.

I didn't do either. As the locomotive got to the section of track with the power connection there was a flash of light from underneath the track, and the breaker tripped on the Powerhouse - OOPs.

All for now.

Jim, looks like you had a lot to say...

Chief, good luck with your train house should be a nice project.  It would be great if you are able to catch those giving you problems on your land.  We have CCTV cameras with night vision to catch any such people.

Well, we went to the local Christmas parade.  Was good and kids had fun.  Then took the family to IHOP for lunch.  Was a good day.  Time for bed.  God bless, Dennis

Good Evening

46 degrees

Kev,,Thimbs up. The Plymouth's all had smoke and come with scale couplers attached. Also included are Lionel size knuckle couplers. But the scale one on the engine will mate with a full size knuckle coupler. No big news today, I just kinda goofed off.

Brutus the Tardis landed some where in your neighborhood. It ran out of fuel. When I tried your credit card for fuel it was maxed, probably because of your trip...banilla for all....S.J.

Jeffrey, Hope your happy with that bill … It is less than half of mine! Sad

Oh yeah, I'm very happy with it. I love low electric bills like that. My father offered to trade me his for it but I had to turn it down. I just can't afford a $220+ bill.

SJ and Roy, I went ahead on the Plymouth switcher and with the thought ( you can't break what is already broken  Devil ) I removed the shell and found the smoke fan motor was not running. So I gave it a wack and away it went. Must have been stuck from never being run. It is smoking almost toooo good now. Yes

That is it for me today, think I will have a  Beer  and watch It’s a wonderful life. Again.

Night all,

Well my second PA-1 now has coil couplers front and back also. The operation DR. was a success Laugh Did use my drill press to drill out a hole for the front wires to go thru in the nose piece on the truck so I didn't have to pinch them and it worked great. That alone made it worth getting it, it made doing that so nice and easy and clean. interesting thing thou when I opened this one up I noticed some differences than the other one. one the seating area in the other is Grey and this one is tan I had to run a wire from the frame where this one had it and a wire nut easy to get to so I could add my ground wires to. I'm thinking for some reason some one has done some electrical work to this engine. I am the 3rd owner of it to my knowledge. It does run good so what ever it fine now.
Not much going on tonight watching my auctions go by with no bidders lol oh well thats life.

Well waiting for SJ or Pat to show up with the tardis so we can get going on it.

Yesterday I looked at my electric bill for last month. I could tell right away the ac and heat hadn't run much. It was only $42. Usually it's between $60 and $90.

Jon - no geothermal unless being hot under the collar counts! Train budget is toast with this system. Wrote 'em a check Crying

Well they are finally gone and we have HEAT! SWMBO will be very pleased.

I also did some cleaning in that part of the attic to get some junk out of there while I had a cler path without the furnace in the way.

Kev - I know some of the Plymouths came with both sets of couplers. I do not know about a smoke unit. I took one apart once - but that was last year and I do not remember a smoke unit. It was the Ford MoCo version and it both KD and toy train couplers.

Regards, Roy

Spent the day with a younger woman...and her Dad tagged along.  What a pretty baby Brent has.  And pleasant.  Greenberg show was crowded,  I picked up my Christmas present (no, y'all have to wait Blindfold).  In honor of our good buddy, Jim Sturgeon, I finally located the FROSTY BAR in salmon pink with the "stainless steel" counter top ($9).  I am happy.  Also, picked up a handsome flatbed truck with grape loads for my winery building.  And, in honor of our new doodle, StourbridgeLion, the hand stamp for the show was the D&H shield.

sir james I

Kev I have the Ford Plymouth set. It has couplers made by K-Line , not K-D. the coupler on your engine  will mate with a regular knuckle coupler(K-Ds will not). It also came(in the box) with regular knuckle couplers that you could install. It is a good smoker, so if yours won't smoke you have a problem. Bet you bought it off the Bay huh. Mine came new from York for $100.

 SJ,

Yeah I got it from E-bay HuH!  Stick out tongue  But it came with the scale couplers, said so right on the box. I can get the regular 0 gauge couplers for $ 4.00 each. I see the newer ones have the extra couplers with them.

How hard is it to remove the shell to look at the smoke unit?

I can get that but it is $32.00. So I want to look around inside first.

I gave $76.00 and thought that was not too bad for the set because the new switchers list out at $99.00.

Good thing is the wifey likes it. She thinks it is cute and it does look on the logging site so I want to be able to hook it to some of those cars. May just install one 0 gauge coupler so I can haul both cars.

Oh well I have sent a question to the seller but have nothing yet from him.

Tks,

 Kev.
