Happy New year

39 degrees, not going to last much longer.

We are home, granny's cold is a nasty one. I checked the neighborhood and don't see any parties I could sneak out to. So bring on the thingy and I will have Banilla ready...S.J.

Well we think in UT (Universal Time or Greenwich Mean Time) here at the telescope, so New Years has come and past (it's 0141UT now). Time to find some dinner and a pillow.

All have a good night and see you next year!

HAPPY NEW YEARS GUYS!

Back is finally starting to heal up - fewer spasms and able to walk around normally for the most part.  3 days off, so this is a nice weekend for me.  I think we are going to go see Sherlock Holmes tomorrow.  We went to see Mission Impossible 4 the other night and it was good.

I'll catch up on the pot later, but wanted to get in here and say hi!

Neat graffic, Jeff!  Yeah, I love Dr. Who.  I have an O scale Tardis I bought from a guy in england on my layout, too :)

TARDIS is ready, so let's get going.  We need to go pick up SJ first!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Had some kind of blue UFO come flying through this evening. It was spinning and making quite an oscillating screeching sound.

Here, I got a photo of it!

Looked to be on it's way west.

I watch Doctor Who off and on. Seen many of the old ones multiple times and I', really enjoying the new ones. I watched one the old Doctor Who movies a few days ago. It was released in 1966 and starred Peter Cushing. He really enjoyed doing it as he was cast as the bad guy many times. This time he was the good guy!

What a great day!!!  First, breakfast in downtown Columbus with wife, daughter, son-in-law and grandson.  The grandson charmed the waitress when she set his milk down in front of him and he said, "Thank you."

After breakfast, we ran trains and more trains on my layout.  The steamers are No. 1 with the 2 1/2 year old grandson, but Amtrak with its strobe lights and ditch lights is a pretty close second.  I currently have one steamer that needs a traction tire change. Sad

After looking at six different dealers for a specific accessory, TK Hobbies was again the lowest and will ship to me the fastest.  Second place was Legacy Station in Georgia.  Interestingly a seller on Ebay was the highest.

Next work item on the layout is the re-programming of an SC-2.  Not a hard job, I already have three programmed to run switches and accessories.

Well the year is coming to a close.  There have been some very fascinating discussions on the forum this year.  Always seem to learn something new.  Speaking of memories, my signed "I Love Ohio" car now sits on a siding on my layout.

Happy New Years!!!

Happy New Year!!!!

in the 50's today.. not bad for ..... January?

Devils just won over the Penguins...so it's a good end to 2011.

Princess and some of the family are at Times Square as we speak, the others are at the Trenton Titans game in Trenton.

I just got back from a major strip mall fire.  Knocked down pretty quick, no one hurt but one restaurant will not be ringing the new year in.

Kev - nice cabin...

Jeff - like those post war resin cars, that's a nice job on those.

SP-Ray - it's good you passed that stone, they are annoying little buggers..

Sub Bob - yeah I may agree with you on that a little.  It signals that it's back to work and play is over for another year.

Still not sure what or where I'll be ringing in the New Year, I may just stay home.  I'm looking forward to getting the first fire call of the year out of the way.  Someone said something about that...so now we're jinxed.Bang Head

Ok boys, Have a safe and healthy New Year.

Went grocery shopping today. Wal-Mart has ticked me off again. Their Great Value brand link beef sausage is my favorite. At $10 and change a package for thirteen links it was a good value. No longer! The price is still $10 and change but there's only seven links to a package now. I'm not paying the thirteen link price for seven links. No way! Richard's sausage costs a little more but there's a lot of sausage in the box. Food prices keep going up while gas prices are slowly going down. That seems wrong.

Good afternoon all,

It is cloudy and mild in SE Indiana with temps ready to take a big dip tomorrow.  I want to wish everyone here on the 'pot a Happy New Year!  Spent the day cleaning the house and running trains.  Had all 3 running at one time today, filling the house with ozone.  Also, had the "saucy wench" give me a hair cut as well.  Going to a New Year's party with some friends later on.   Nothing planned for the next two days and then back to work on Tuesday.  I had the last of the streusel on the dining car for breakfast this morning before sending it on "Points East".  TBIL and we have to navigate thru all the amateur drinkers tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.  Nice cabin, KRM.  Good luck with the lake as well!

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

A quiet New Year's Eve day collecting photons. My cohort  left this morning to take advantage of the holiday. I volunteered to work and take the holiday later. Our director actually found, or should I say assigned, a student that can use the time.

Never been much into the New Years thing. Seems a bit of a contrived holiday, like 4 Corners National Monument is to parksConfused

Ray - glad you figured that out. I hate those little guys. Like trying to p!$$ out a baby sea urchin.

Mike - congrads to Lucas! I too had a rocky start to college and graduated w/ a gpa that wouldn't get me into many grad schools, but knowing what it took I was proud of.

Chief, so you got a Deere? Hopefully you didn't shoot your tractor....Laugh

Re-epoxied the landing gear on the helicopter today. After many years I've decided that JBWeld is the worst epoxy on the market. Most of the 2 part clear epoxies work fine, but I don't think I've ever had much luck w/ JBWeld. As the remainder of the tubes went into the trash can, I remarked that the initials probably stand for Just Bogus.

Well this has been an interesting year for many of us. I know it has for me. I thank God every night for the people He has put in my path, and this includes all of you here. Best wishes for the new year!

SPMan

Glad to report that my urinalysis problem has cleared up.  Last night just before bedtime, I passed a kidney stone.  I suspect that it was causing the bleeding in my water works.  Everything was clear this morning.  No telling how long that stone had been floating around in my bladder.  They only cause pain when they are traversing from the kidney to the bladder.  Anyway grateful that it is gone.

That's great news! Those things will drive you mad trying to figure out what's going on.

#1 son and family will pick up the bird today.  The bird has been pretty good as long as we let him out of his cage for a few hours each day.  If you don't he will sure let you know about it.

V8 Dennis, I feel your pain about computer knowledge.  If it weren't for my son,  I would be in trouble with mine.

Kev, no pictures.  7 pointer that was 1 1/2 years old per Wildlife Biologist [they were checking, weighing and aging deer] when I dropped him off at the processors.  Got plenty of sausage and etc. to eat. Dinner

Too bad you didn't get some pictures to share.

Hey Chief, Is there a problem out by you with the deer having CWD? We have some of it here in IL. but more up north in WI.

I heard some racket in the basement and when I checked, I see my helper has finished up the log cabin.  Yes  Now I got to help him dig out the pond I want in front of the cabin and build the Hobo Jungle.

Don’t worry guys I have a Cat 988 F for the pond work. Laugh

Good morning. It's 53° and cloudy. The high will be 72°. It will be partly cloudy this afternoon the mostly cloudy tonight. There's a 10% chance of rain today.

The rusting and weathering on the junk vehicles is done and they look convincing enough that I checked to be sure my tetanus shot was up to date. I even rusted out the floorboards in the convertibles! But I'm not finished yet! There's still a junkyard scene with vehicles from the thirties and forties to be painted. All this is intended for a small 'U-Pick n Pull' antique car parts junk yard. They look pretty good close up so they should be real eye-catchers toward the back of the layout.

No real plans for today but I'm fairly certain one of both of my parents will think of something I need to do for them.

Good morning

37 and gloomy.

For those of us that had health issues this year, let's pray they all go away for 2012. I received my RMT Beep yesterday. I took advantage of their Christmas day sale. It runs good, has a funny sound like a small electric shaver. Granny has a cold, I think she caught it talking on the phone to her friend who has been sick. I guess we will be staying home tonight. Nice chat with Charlie yesterday eve...Happy New Year......S.J.

Good morning all.  I had posted earlier yesterday, but the cyber world lost it.  Was supposed to be a easy day yesterday, but had to do an emergency case.  All went well, and finally got home to my sick family.  Made some dinner and read the latest OGR and CTT that arrived this week.

Mike, good news on Lukas.  Pray that the success continues.

Chief, a successful hunt is mainly just getting into the woods.  I have seen some wonderful bits of nature while sitting on stand.

Laz, good luck.

God bless,

Dennis

 sir james I:

Good Evening

41 and raining.

Kev I'm shrinking. Now about 5' 9 1/2". Old age man.

Getting shorter but growing wider.

That just about sums it up Chief.

Still fighting off Chief’s Yankee sinus curse

Jack I don’t worry too much about my weight. Surprise

When I was younger I could not gain weight but when I hit 35 all that changed.

The increase was slow but sure and now I am at 5’10" and 190lb. Oh well at my age loosing weight too fast is scary because it can mean the big C or some other health issue. So I will just back it off slow and easy.

SP Ray better have that checked out. Nothing to mess with I will pray for you friend too.

fifedog, you get any pictures ?

Hey LAZ, good luck with the hunt today getting a big buck would be a great way to close out the year. I have been looking for the pictures of Chief's big buck kill but they don't seem to come. Wink

I got two Plasticville kits yesterday, the hobo jungle and the log cabin.

Got the cabin chinking painted in and the moss added to the roof and will spray the Dullcoat on today. I thing it looks good considering it is my first attempt. The lights bulbs on my flood light towers are burning out left and right so I am thinking of getting one of those LED kits I have seen on E-bay for them. Any of you have any experiences on those kits?

Y’all have a safe and happy New Year’s eve.

Then, I am going to watch the History Channel on my computer , Extreme Trains. They have all the full episodes and it is free.

I bought the Extreme Trains DVD a long while back for $10. Nice to watch it on the TV with no ads.
