Good Evening

36 now, wet snow today but nothing on the ground.  We spent most of the morning out, I put the groceries away and then goofed off. Banilla is ready but I'm gonna pass again tonight. Almost back to my average 187. TTFN...S.J.

Thanks David. It's the wrong size but I'm making do with it the best I can.

Got the vehicle castings primered. They look like they all just came out of the first stage at the paint shop. Next step will be to hit them with the latex paint of which I have many, many colors.

Jeff: Nice monster type Mystery Machine!

Good evening sports fans!

I know what you guys are thinking! What did I get for Christmas. It is a short list but a pricey one.

New shoes. Just a pair of good running shoes, none of that Air Jordan stuff for me.

New clothes. 2 packs of socks, 2 packs underwear, 2 packs T shirts, 7 pairs of pants, 10 pullover shirts, 6 button down shirts.

New tires for my truck!

Walmart gift cards! 3 of them! $75 each!

2 sheets of 4x8 3/4" plywood and a ton of 2x4's, 1x6's, 1x4's, enough screws and nails to put the world back together, more ez track to go with what I already have.

18 Bachmann freight cars, 1 caboose - painted, not lettered.

2 Bachmann gp9 locos, DCC. I can run them with my old Bachmann DCC controller.

I have no idea who got the train stuff and wood. My mom and dad are not saying a word about it. All they say is I have plenty of time to worry about college. I need to have some fun first.

Stourbridge and Laz - thanks for the video links! Cool locomotives! Love the tender (or would that be Love me Tender...) on the #12.

Bob / All:  Did you notice that the tender spends half it's run playing engine, see Video II of III Movie.  There is no Wye / Turntable on the GTL, so on the downhill run the tender is leading the train followed by the engine going backwards. Cowboy

Dennis,

Yes, they sequence from the center of the car out.  I'd say that they were the best thing that I've bought, but I say that about everything that I get from American Muscle.Big Smile

Jack,

I took it out this morning, then I washed it once I got back.  It was only 39 degrees though, so I am still cold.

Regarding the Decapod, the marker lights aren't that big of an issue.  I'll get it fixed, but it runs fine as is.

Here is a nice cold start clip of the new Macs: Smile

It's 67° and mostly sunny. The high will be 69° and it will be sunny and pleasant.

This has been a busy day for me. First thing this morning I got a call from my father. He needed help getting a sofa and some huge bags of women's clothes loaded so they could be taken to the outreach ministries in town. The bags were so big and heavy it took both of us to pick up one! We wrestled four of those to the front door then used a wheelbarrow to get them to the truck. The wheelbarrow had to be pulled up a couple of steps from the patio to the walk. I think I surprised my father when I picked up the front of the wheelbarrow with my left arm so the wheel cleared the steps. He was pulling it backward. Getting the sofa out was fun. It was in the den and had to be turned on it's end and pushed around a 180° corner through the hall into my fathers study. From there it had to be lifted overhead to get it past the printer and computer tables (huge steel and fiberglass monstrosities we got for nothing from the army) and my fathers huge L-shaped steelcase desk (bought it from AT&T for $50), then between the desk and several enormous five foot tall filing cabinets. Finally got it to the front door where is was once again flipped up on it's end and maneuvered through the door. From there it had to be carried fifty+ feet up the front walk to the truck he was using. My nephew (my fathers grandson) was supposed to have fixed a problem on my fathers truck way before now but hasn't done it for this or that reason. Mostly because he's having too much fun with his friends. So naturally my fathers truck wouldn't start. No problem. He grabbed his grandsons truck despite some complaints. My fathers response? You didn't have mine mine fixed when you said you would. Now I can use yours today or you can use it to move your stuff out of my trailer. Which is it going to be? The answer to that was simple! We put some miles on that truck today. When we got to the Helping Hands Ministries there were two women there who were going to take the bags of clothes off the truck. Yeah! Right! My father and I got them down on the street then the youngest of the two tried carrying one on her own. She ALMOST succeeded! I told my father we better not$1****$2that young lady off. She could probably sweep the sidewalk with both of us! I got back home about an hour ago and I feel like I wrestled with a gorilla.

Well, I got my Mystery Machine van today. What I consider HO Scale and what Aurora considers HO Scale are two different things altogether. This thing is massive! Even larger than 1/64. It looks more akin to a monster truck Mystery Machine! So, that's what I'll use it as. How does Ezra Johnson have fun? He drives a semi sized Mystery Machine!

I washed the resin vehicles castings and took them outside for a coating of spray of gray primer. Later I'll start on painting them.

Bob, I will tell ya what's up with checking it out with the better half...an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of flesh which is what SWMBO would remove from our hides if we were to make such a purchase!    Jon, I will have to check out the video later, right now, I'm working off the iPad.

Well the phone saga is hopefully coming to a close.  The lines were dead again last night.  We are doing away with the land line and will be going to all cell.  It works out that we will be paying about the same, but have two phones with two numbers.

Laz, one of the nurses was showing us photos of their family feeding deer right off the back porch.  One of our PAs was out with his son yesterday and the bucks were chasing the does.  He shot a nice ten pointer.

V8Vega

97 Probe would that be sequential turn signals like on early Mecury Cougars I think they were called. Very neat where the turn signals blink on three tailights from the center out, 1-2-3  1-2-3

V8.........welcome home!!!!  Re your not liking the cold.....it got down to 14 here last night with sustained 20-25 mph winds.  Re the sequential turn signals, the T-Birds had them too!!!!

Dennis.......re the crud, hope you and yours are making a comeback.  A buddy of mine came down with bronchitis a couple of weeks back and despite the meds and an inhaler he is still weezing a tad during the overnights, and it is taking a while to clear up just as you say.

Chuck.......did the train board cleaning commence, or don't you consider that one of the few chores you have to do ?  Smile, Wink & Grin

JimmyT........wasn't sure you got that rear wiring harness installed correctly.  You had better get your final cruises in before the snow begins to fly in earnest.  Sorry to hear your new engine acquisition is giving you fits.  Stick with the old iron!!!!! Wink

SubmmBob........have you been driving your MGBGT?  Maybe it is not in the cards to sell it quite yet. Whistling

We are expecting a houseful New Years Eve and the honey do list is calling.  Later, gang.

Jack, gang.

Another day collecting photons. The weather is good, but the sky transparency could be better for observing.

Stourbridge and Laz - thanks for the video links! Cool locomotives! Love the tender (or would that be Love me Tender...) on the #12.

JimT - I'll try the liquid unit just for fun. I guess I can always go back to the original unit at some point. Yes, the 2026 is nice the way it blows smoke rings.

Thanks for the encouraging words on the potential job change. We'll see how this all develops.

Well 4 people came to look at the MGB, and seemed like a lot of interest but no takers yet. Several needed to talk to the other half. What's up w/ that?Whistling Well, I will just have to wait and see. Like me, most of these guys already have too many projects.

Laz, I saw that moonshiner show too.  I think they said those guys were in Virginia but N.C. and Virginia accents are usually somewhat different from my experience.  However that guy named "Tickle" on the show sounds more like he is half drunk all the time.  I think he drinks too much of his own product.

V8 Dennis, Welcome home!  Glad you had a good trip.  I did not sleep any better than you did even on an economy sleeper one time.  The train motion keeps me awake at least in an upper berth.  I think I would have been able to sleep better sitting up in a coach seat.  The funny thing though is that when I was an engineer and deadheading (not working) on trailing diesel units I could sleep like a log.  I guess you just have to be really tired.

Nice weather continues here.  Might try getting together with train buddies today.

later,

Ray

Bob,

I've never had good luck with the liquid conversions.  They smoke good for a while, then their output reduces until they burn out completely.  I've never seen anything puff as nicely as an early 2026 though.

Jack,

You just need to combine influences so that the shopping is for trains.Smile, Wink & Grin

Rich,

Good luck to you and your daughter on the job hunt.  I am going through the same thing.  I have my fingers crossed for one job that I would love to do even though it isn't in my field.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas.  After I ran the Decapod for a bit, I spent the rest of Christmas morning in the garage removing the Mustang's stock tails and harnesses and replacing them with Raxiom's 2010 style tails and Raxiom's plug-in sequential harnesses that I got from American Muscle.Big Smile

I am now having an issue with the Decapod after only three hours of total runtime.  The markers on the boiler have gone out and will not light.  Not real happy about that right now.

Monring all!

Busy day yesterday. We are rebuilding my old 8x12 layout that was in storage into a 8x20 by adding two more 4x8 sections so we have something to run at the local train show in January. Got the 2 table tops and legs built. Ready for track planning. There will be some sort of yard tracks to allow us to assemble and remove trains while keeping the two tracks operational. Worked until 8 pm so too tired to post last night.

Warmer weather here, but predicted to cool off by Monday.

Making a little trip for New Years so posting may be erratic.

8N - Angel for your mom

Jack - ahhh - now training the younger ones to influence the money holders - sharp!

Jeffrey - hang in there. Like the photo of the engine shed.

SubmmBob - good luck with the job decision.

Chuck - trains = good health

Stourbridge - cool. We have ridden the loop several times. We used to go and stay at the YMCA of the Rockies for a week each summer when the kids were little. Now we go to Tennessee for the water sports now that they are older (much older).

Have a great day all!

Regards, Roy

Konbanwa,

Today was a pretty easy day for us.  I took care of my easy chores and then one important chore for the wife: hooking up the new all-in-one wireless printer.  That was pretty easy as well, except when the 17-month-old decided he wanted to help.  After that I helped the 8 y/o son build a Millennium Falcon model. My oldest brother bought it for him and fortunately it is only a snap-together model so he was able to do most of it himself.  It is a very neat and pretty decently detailed model.  He has been flying it around all day.  I made some chicken fajitas for dinner and I just now finished some schoolwork.  Tomorrow, we are off to IKEA.

SJ - The AF-Toledo game had a great finish.  If the holder would have pitched the ball AF would have made that two-point conversion.  Either way, you have to hand it to the coach for trying to win it versus heading for overtime.  It's bowl game so you should pull out all the stops to win in regulation time.

Stourbridge - Thank for the link to your Georgetown Loop thread.  I had a chance to read through it and enjoyed the photos and video very much.

Sayonara,

Joe

Good Morning CTT Fans!

Well it's back to the office for me today and currently its 36F and the Sun is making its way up here in the Mile High area.  Finished up my Georgetown Loop Trip Report this weekend <Click Here> ending with a great video (Part III of III) of Steam Engine #12 running from Georgetown to Silver Plume while keeping the "record" button going all the way from beginning to end.  Might help some with modeling ideas seeing this section of the old C&S in the Rocky Mountains twist and loop it's way up a valley.

Good Mornin' Y'all From Frigid Taxachusetts,

Day three of babysitting 24/7 with the 8 year old granddaughter.  Lots of trains (my influence) Thumbs Up and shopping (Grammy Pammy influence)Thumbs Down.  How is it when women try to talk rationalize about saving money it always entails spending even more money? Bang Head

Had a problem with my Christmas present from the daughter and SIL.  It is the 2011 Lionel Christmas boxcar.  One side of one of the trucks just self-dissambled, and I could not get the (2) misiscule springs popped back into place during reassembly.  Off the my train store where it was purchased.  They were out of replacements, but the repair guy had the right tool to reassemble and reinsert the springs; and we were out of there in short order......but not before taking the granddaughter, my new Minister(ess) of Train Propaganda, on a tour of the shop.  She received proper instruction on the Polar Express Baldwin 2-8-4 Berk engine with the pretty drivers and the PE passenger cars.

Morning all, quick post before heading in.  Having more phone outages so we are thinking of going ahead with dropping the land line.  Kids are working on getting better, but we seem to bounce back and forth with who is feeling worse for the moment.

Bob, good luck with the new job.  If it is what you want and it will pay the bills, great.  Hope everything works out for you.  There is a lot to be said for having a quality of life, it isn't all about money.

Chief, hope you get some meat on the ground and have a safe time.

PIE had better get going.  God bless,

Hello all. Hope everyone had a good Christmas. Mine was good. I got to hear a good speaker at a meeting and then had dinner w/ friends. We went out to a local Indian restaurant that is open on Christmas. Then went back and played with miniature RC helicopters and terrorized the cat and my friends wife. Didn't get a chance to run trains, but the helicopters were fun.

Right after I ordered the new pilot truck for the 2026, I broke the tab on the truck/light holderBang Head. A quick email to Brasseur's hoping I could add it to the order, but they are very efficient and already had it shipped. Oh well, something to include for the next order.

JimT - the smoke unit on the 2025 works fine, but I was hoping to get a little more output w/ the liquid smoke unit. The driving mechanism is quite different from the 2026, so I was hoping to give it a little boost. We shall see.

Fife - so sorry to hear about your friend. Thoughts and prayers go out to friends and family.

RT - Good work on the entertainment center and sorry to hear about your cat

8N - good news about your mom!

Chuck - your post about running trains made my day. Thank you.

Jeffrey - love the new collection of castings. That's quite the collection.

As regards to the job change, it is still in the works. Things will be held up until after the holidays. It is working w/ the base camp staff. It means a bit of a pay cut and also moving to the local community of Safford, but will be more of a regular schedule. 4/10s and home at night. I hear what some of you are saying about my current job, but the schedule and the hours are a killer. This is my 10th season working here. The new job is much more hands on w/ the equipment and utilities which I am looking forward too. This is a change I have been considering for some time. Well see how things progress and I'll keep you posted.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISIEI with temps in the 30s.  We went to Jingle Rails at the Eiteljorg in Indy yesterday.  It is G scale, but still impressive.  All done by Paul Busse and his group.  Built with LEGOs today and did over 2 miles on outside YMCA route.   I had cereal, bacon and toast on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".   Long story short we saw War Horse today.  Wife did not like war scenes and wanted to leave, but I told they would not last much longer and they did not.  Interesting viewpoint to WWI.  Not much else going on.  TBIL.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

I've gone through and cataloged all the castings I received in the second shipment and the list is as follows:

1950 Nash Ambassador
1947 Buick Roadmaster convertible
1950 Buick Super

Good evening

25 degrees, it was sunny today but stayed cold in the 20s.

We stayed in today but are getting restless now. Time to get out for a few hours. Maybe tomorrow. I just watched the Toledo Rockets win their football game. Air Force could have tied with the extra point kick but fumbled trying to win with a 2 pointer pass. Twas a good game. I am hungry, gained weight eating Christmas cookies and candy. now I am paying the price. Banilla is ready to go, I will have to pass....S.J.
