Good evening guys.  RT, I think that I, like you are too far from any help on projects.  So, if we need something done, roll up the sleeves and have at it!  Regarding the link for Jon's layout, all I get is a photo, no play button, etc.  the layout at the bottom does have a play button, but if I tap on Jon's photo, or near it, the picture just gets bigger.  I will see if I can check it on another system, perhaps my web brouser doesn't like the link.

Kev, I am sorry if you got what we have been battling.  Crud lasts about a week and then just leaves you with an upper respiratory congestion that hangs on.  Hope it leaves this house soon, we are tired of it!

Rich, been thinking about you.  Wish I had some info for prospects for you.  I am surprised to hear that you didn't have any chimney fires.  We always seemed to get a few from folks not having chimney cleaned and then trying to burn wrapping paper.

Well, the cold is heading this way.  Was down into the fifties for most of the day.  I had to solder the feed wire to the headlight on my car.  It had started to melt the wire and plastic holder that the light fits into, and then is pressed into the headlight housing.  Hopefully, the better connection solved the heat issue.

Picked up a new blue ray player as the price was right.  This one also can play Netflix, but I need to figure a way of either running an Ethernet line, or some wifi adaptor.  Either way, we can now watch some of the blue ray discs that friends have given as gifts to our kids.

Good luck hunting Chief.  Hope you get a good one.

8n, will continue prayers for your Mom.

God bless,

Dennis

Good evening. It's 54° and cloudy. Low tonight will be 41° with some clouds.

Got more flawed vehicle castings today along with another junkyard row, this one with vehicles from the thirties and forties. I even got a couple of convertibles this time!

Well, got up this morning at 9 am and checked out some of the goings on online. No sooner than posted a reply than a power surge came through and tripped my surge protectors. There was still enough oomph left on it to make the circuit breaker in my computers power supply trip. I had to reset that before I could turn the computer back on. No sooner got it back up and running than I got a call from my father saying that the new couch was being delivered sometime today. He was at work and wouldn't be able to help. Wasn't that convenient? So I call my mother and tell her to call me when they say they're on the way. Thirty minutes later she calls back and says they're coming. So I get down there. The old couch and a couple of sofas that should have been hauled out are still there! Between Christmas and all the rain they couldn't be moved out. Well, I couldn't move them and my mother sure as heck couldn't so the delivery guys got pressed into service as furniture movers. I had them put the old sofa in my fathers study and the old couch was put in the den right in front of the old sofa that was supposed to be hauled out. Several small tables got shifted around and the couch table went in the front bedroom. After all that the guys were breaking a sweat and they hadn't gotten the new couch off the truck yet. Did I mention it's a sectional? So there were actually two couches on the truck. First some three inch thick cement blocks had to be set down so the couch would be at the right height. Everyone who will be using it is disabled so it has to be a bit higher than what would be usual. Finally they could bring the behemoth in and set it up. It looked great! The rest of the room looked like a tornado had hit it but the couch looked great. Those guys sure earned their pay this morning. After that I took my mother into town so she could run some errands, make a bank deposit and go to Lowe's to buy more weeds (plants) for her menagerie in the great room. She went there on the pretense of getting a new fake Christmas tree for NEXT year as her old one was broken. I haven't looked at it yet but it's probably nothing JB Weld can't fix. Well at $114 (half price) the tree cost too much so she stocked up on more weeds. We went to Smith Jewelers so she could pay a bill there. From there it was to Los Mayos to get a bite to eat then back home. That accounted for much of the afternoon. By that time she was almost too stiff to move so she's now testing the softness of the couch. My father, nephew and one of the nephews friends were left to sort the room out. I came home with my few items my mother paid for. A half pint of light yellow mis-tinted paint and two 24" fluorescent lights for my bedroom. The old ones have steadily been dimming over the past month. I'm hurting pretty bad right now so I have to get some rest too.

Well Kev I called them back once I had it all done.

Hey all not a lot going on tonight getting ready to call it a night.

Got a second set of pots and pans last night ( the company sent a second ) set so gave back to UPS guy. ( Didn't want to take chance of getting charged again latter when I couldn't handle it as its was tied to my debit card my luck it would hit when I had about .15 less in the account than it came to and bank would charge me $35 for that. Bang Head )

Do like the set we got so happy with that lol.

Got some K-Line K-0690 O gauge protection lockon's in ( the price was right so figured I would try them) they were new in sealed packages there actually for O-27 type track but state for all Tubular rail well with some minor adjustment to my Gar-Graves track I see they will work fine with it.

Well thats it for me tonight you all have a good evening. Talk to you all later

Ohayƍ (O-hi-o for Chuck),

It's 0913 Thursday morning; it's a little chilly outside but the sun is shining.  I made another "to do" list for today but this one has only a couple of items on it.  I'm watching the last quarter of the AF-Toledo bowl game in which neither team is playing defense.  I'm going to finish my coffee and maybe see if I can catch the Tardis.

Rich - You have a great attitude so I can't see you without a job much longer.  I'll keep praying.

8N - It's great to see your mom is improving.

RT - Thanks for the information about the Williams by Williams items.  If we can’t get the Trainsounds thing worked out we’ll be fine running our very conventional locomotives.

'evening sports fans...

Emptied the tool box and money will be on the way Tuesday.  No problem, I can wait.  I still have an emergency fund to pay the bills with.  Kev, that was my working toolbox, My home bound Craftsman 3 tier box will suffice until I can afford to get another "professional" box.  I was looking at one at Harbour Freight, but just came up $200 and 1 job short of buying it.  Put all my tools into 3 $5 totes from Walmart.  Sorting and storing them is another issue.

The storage unit is about done as well, just have my toolbox locker, bottom tool box, a TV and microwave.  Moving into my sisters attic will save me $50/month and make me feel better about putting all that stuff up there as I will be giving her $50/month (my rent at storage was $104/month).

Yeah I'm not worried, just concerned.  The holidays are more difficult to get a job, but I've been pushing harder these last 2 weeks.  Something will break.  Probably after Jan 3.

Neon needed a thermostat...and that's odd, cuz I replaced it last January.  I don't get it.  Just need to replace the radiator now.  I think I found a used one on line, and CHEAP!

Princess is studying for her driving permit.  I'm thinking she'll go take the $10 TEST next week,  and looking for another job.  We should job hunt together...lol

OK boys I'm back to the job search.  I'll catch up later.

Thanks for the prayers and boosts up for my next job.  It does help!

Good morning all,

Wer're baby sitting our oldest son's cockateal bird for the next few days while son's family is on short trip.  They brought him over last night and he has been pretty quiet until this morning.  He is starting to get noisy and I'm sure he wants out of the cage for a while.  The trouble is, is that once he's out he doesn't want to go back in.  We will just have a battle of wills for a while but I think the bird will probably win.

Beautiful weather here this week with highs in the mid 70's all week.

Had long phone conversations with some of my relatives in the East yesterday.  Being from the South, we all are long winded.  Two of my sisters wore me out on the phone and almost gave me a cauliflower ear.  The trouble is, when they have said everything, they keep on saying it.  I'm probably guilty of that at times myself.

Swimming pool filter needs cleaning out if I can con, er convince my son to do it.

Hope we can have a train running get together this week if I can round up my friends.

later,

Ray

ChiefEagles

Morning.  Turning Yankee cold. Gone hunting.

Yankee cold is something we have not had yet this year. So it is like a friend once told me about those southern states. NOTHING DIES when it comes to germs.  Dead   Anyway good luck on the hunt.

I think Chief you sent me that sinus thing you had some time back as my Christmas present, or was it Dennis sending me the crud? I never left the house yesterday just hung out with the cat in front of the fire.  Tongue Tied

Been down for the count for three days now and am going to Dr. today because if I wait and I go next year well all of the deductibles kick back in and I will have to foot the whole bill. So unlike Jeffrey I am in no hurry for the year-end as far as the medical costs go.

RT, Enjoy the new entertainment cabinet sounds like your wife will be entertained watching you move it in.  Laugh

Keep hunting Rich. It is a rough market out there for jobs. You know it is bad when a guy has to sell his toolbox.  Super Angry Best of luck.  Yes

8n, good to hear you mom is pulling up the hill.  Angel

Morning I agree chief only 42 presently here suppose to get up to low 60 today and high by the weekend.

well wife found a entertainment cabinet she wants if its still there today when we go back. We had to come get measurements first to insure our TV would fit in side of it. Think it just will Bang Head So guess who gets to load it on to the truck off load it and take it thru the den up two steps thru the kitchen and then move it on to some towels to slide it into the living room because of the hard wood floors she has to have and don't dare take a chance to scratch them lol and also has to get the resent piece of furniture out of there and down to the den for the next who knows how long till I can get it up to the auction house ( Its an old Buffet) well my day to relax just went out the window as normal I always tell her the day befor I go back to work is my day to relax it turns out to be NOT!!! lol oh well thats the way things go.

Well just heard the timer thing on oven telling me its up to temp so need to go put some biscuits in oven for my sausage biscuits this am and need to cook my sausage to go on them talk to you all later

Konbanwa,

We knocked out some chores today: haircuts for me and the 8 y/o boy and helping him clean his room.  We also hung his model airplanes on his wall.  He now has two train shelves as well.  One is full and the other has a couple of items on it.  One of those is the Lionel G. W. Bush Extended Vision caboose my wife got me for Christmas.  It just arrived today.  It is a very nice caboose.  We will be buying more shelves Friday for his room and the 17-month-old's room as well.  Then we can get all the trains out of the closet.  I will post photos once they are complete.  We also decided to build a layout under my 8 y/o son's bed versus hanging it from the ceiling.  It will be easier and less costly.  However, we only have 41" x 73" to work with so the plan will be simple.  We are playing some board games (Apples to Apples and Headbands) tonight just as we did last night.

Banks - Others have provided me that same information.  Unfortunately I don't have a spare battery lying around.  Also, since we already took down the Christmas decorations and layout I will have to wait until we build the new layout to test things out again.

 RockIsland52:
I didn't score the PE set I thought Santa or the elves were going to collaborate on and bring me.  My daughter got me the Lionel 2011 Holiday box car and the son got me a USN crane car thet goes with the NW2 Navy switcher engine he got me last year.  Score it all for me because my family is finally buying me something with flanged wheels for Christmas.

In order to keep the propaganda machine rolling, when the family came home yesterday I could be seen lying on the floor by the tree runiing my new acquisitions from last year and this year  Thumbs UpThumbs UpThumbs Up  Hmmmmmmm, a USN NW2 switcher pulling the USN 2011 crane car along with the holiday car and some postwar box cars.......I call it the BE, the beer express.  Ya gotta have a crane to unload all of that beer. BeerLaugh

Jack.

Jack,

I have been following the saga of your desire for the Polar Express and your subtle hints to your family all through the pre Christmas season.  I've been checking the Pot periodically during the last few days to see if your wish came true.  While I'm disappointed (probably not as much as you are.) that you didn't get a PE, I am delighted that your family is catching on.  I'm rooting for you to get that Polar Express for your birthday.  Your American Flyer water tank will enjoy keeping that Berk supplied with water.

Keep up the floor action with your grandchildren.  I will be glad to vouch to your family that the possession of a Polar Express train set will be good for your mental health

Enjoying the World's Greatest Hobby

Northwoods Flyer

NORTHWOODS.....You remembered!!!!  The AF water tower is the only remaining piece from my Dad's trains which had to be sold off during the Depression to put food on the table.  It is sitting prominently on the loop under the Christmas tree in my wife's Christmas village.  Thumbs Up

I am not disappointed about not getting the PE set because I got two cars......one from my daughter and one from my son.  The "BUY dAD TRAINS" momentum is picking up, and much of my excitement is in the hope a Berk and the PE cars will make it to my tracks one day.  The 8 year old granddaughter asked me to break out the 2046 Hudson after we finished watching the Polar Express earlier today as she wanted to see a steam engine running and hear that whistle.   I have therefore promoted her to my Ministress of PE Propaganda. Smile, Wink & Grin  Going out and just buying the set myself would be far too easy and not nearly as entertaining. Thumbs Up

8n........I have thought and prayed for your Mom and was startled at your good news. Thumbs Up Angel

Rich........hang in there, buddy.  Something will pop for you.

Dennis.......bad timing on the crud that has infiltrated your entire family.  I hope everyone has turned the corner on this.

Brutus......re your back acting up, crawling around under the tree will do that to you.  Laugh

Jeffrey......five more days and you are good to go, January 1, no?  Hang in there!

Roy.........glad things with your neck have settled down.

Good night, ya'll.  It's 57 with rain and high winds.  Hope the outdoor Christmas lights don't get blown off the evergreens. Bang Head

Good Evening Guys...Belated Merry Christmas

Angel for Fife's friend & RT

Spent most of Christmas Day doing the firefighting thing.  3 calls ranging from a gas leak to an 11 car accident and a backfired oil burner.   Almost missed Christmas Dinner and completely missed the opening of the presents....

Did OK on the present front, cash is cool, and I need it.  Bills will be paid but just barely.  Job hunt continues.  I'll get my $200 for my tool box next week.  Almost done with getting the tools out of it.

Still have 5 items in storage, that should be done by the 31st. Saturday.

Need to catch up on the 'pot....just have no access to computer on a daily basis.

Check back when I can...stay well in the mean time!

8N: Glad toi hear your mother is improving.

Good evening. It's 42° and clear here. Low will be 35°.

Nothing happening here unless you count some anger management issues I've been contending with. I'll be glad when I can get my meds started up again. So far I've managed to avoid any confrontations with anybody, online or off. Well, time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Been at mom's house the last few days - no internet access.

Mom continues to improve - amazing, considreing the extent of her stroke.  If all continues to go well, she should be discharged from the hospital to a re-hab facility later this week.  Thanks for your thoughts and prayers.

Here is a belated Merry Christmas, and an early Happy New Year.

Chief, went to the link and only found a still of Jon's layout and a video of a Polar Express layout.  I'd like to see Jon's.

Good Evening everyone.  Got home in time to have a nice dinner with the family.  Everyone of us is sick, but I think we are on the mend.  Joe, he is doing well on the Lego front, but could use some work on keeping his room cleaned!  Jack, check some of the department stores, Dillard's here had a display Polar Express that I picked up for $100.00 after Christmas a few years ago.  It was missing the bell and people, but for about $15.00 from Lionel, I got replacements.

Been reading the latest CTT...February.  So far, a good read.

Chief, I will check out Jon's video, I remember the old one and it was quite entertaining.

God bless,

Dennis

Good Evening

34 degrees, it snowed all day but stayed above freezing. Yea. No snow on the ground. A cold but dry day tomorrow. Yes Buckeye an outdoor type person could play here year round. And the UP is so quiet and different. I had a do nothing day, spent some time on that other forum but the anti Lionel group got so overwhelming I gave up and left. Banilla is ready if the thingy comes this way..S.J.
