Good morning,

I have a little extended class break this morning since we had a test.  Some of my classmates and I will go out for lunch shortly.  I only have seven more days in AL and I will then be back with the family in OK.  We will only be in OK for about five days and then we fly out to Japan.

Dennis - I'll have to research that ticket information.  That will be great for our families.

SP Ray - Happy Birthday!

jefelectric - I'm sorry about the loss of your FIL.  I'll pray for you and your family.

Jack - I am far from normal. Laugh

Good day,

Good morning all,

Thank you all for the birthday greetings.  Makes my day special to have this many greetings.

Chief, good luck with the skin cancer.

John F., sorry for the loss of your FIL.

Chuck, thanks for all those birthday greetings.  Hope you are doing well today.

Went to Mexican restaurant last night as planned with a group of friends.  Most of them had marguritas before dinner.  Being a Tee Totaler, I had ice tea but had fun watching the personality change in some of the others..  They all had fun and no one got hurt, unless somebody had heartburn.  They gave us enough food for an army.  Our group decided to just eat out once a month instead of having meetings.  The idea was to decide where to eat the next time while we were at dinner.  That didn't work too good.  Somebody did pick a place but we did not vote on it.  Seemed to be decided by who could yell the loudest.  In addition there is no host for the next event so there are no minutes are notices or anything about the next get together.  I don't think this method will fly.  Waiting for my WWII B29 pilot friend to come back from his summer home in Iowa to get them organized again.

Going out for birthday dinner tonight with family.

later,

Ray

Good evening everyone.  Hope all are doing well.  John F., sorry for your loss.  Pray for peace and comfort in this time of grief for your family.  Chief, hope you are feeling better.  The problem with the feel good meds is that they wear off and then you need more.  Ray, Happy Birthday to you sir.  Chuck, glad you continue to get better...keep it up.  Dougnotagrump, hope you continue with your progress.  I missed your post, but from the other posters, I take it you are on the mend.

Have to get going, but hope everyone has a blessed night.

Yes they did win, looked like the team we have watched all season. BUT they are down 1 and would have to win both of the remaining games to move on.

Nice sunny day in the 70's today.  Blue sky, turning leafs, warm breeze.  Days like this is why this is my favorite time of year.

Bakesale fundraiser at the KATY Depot this weekend.  I baked up a couple of appple pies to donate - used Macintosh apples from Michigan.

Good news thet the Tigers won - heard it here first.

Brutus - tried to send a PM last night.  Did it get through?

All for now.

Sp Ray Happy birthday.

Sp Ray and Chief it sure is discouraging to spend time composing and typing something and then do something wrong.

Brutus hope Chewey gets better soon. I just won on eBay a Railking 4-6-0 Rio Grande. I know its a starter set engine but I have been wanting one. Got a real good deal too my max bid was $75 won for $66.44 plus $9.50 shipping minus $8.70 eBay Bucks total $67.24. I have a bunch of Railking steam and there is a few more I will keep trying for but pretty soon there won't be any I want to buy.

Dennis  San Fernando Valley CA.

SP RAY _ HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Dennis - Chewy is doing well, two days on the meds so we don't expect real results yet.  She's a little tricky trying to not swallow the pills though, LOL!

I've got a 4-6-0 Railking and really like it a lot.  I run it with TMCC though, so not sure I'm getting all the functions.  It's a little tricky, wish it was just TMCC all the way.

Half-way through my stay at home vaca, and the furnace checked out okay yesterday.  Today I replaced the supply line to the water heater - putting in a ball type shut-off higher up and a new T to a valve to control supply to the humidifier.  Everything worked out fine.  I did remember two important rules for any DIY project.  1 - there is a GOOD tool meant to do every job.  2 - Every job requires you to buy some tool(s)!  I could NOT tighten those flex hoses with my Craftsman robo-wrenches.  They would not lock on tight enough and I would lose my grip pushing/pulling them.  After remembering the rules, I ran out and got two monkey wrenches - they did the trick in about 5 minutes.  Tomorrow, I'll change out an old spindle shut-off for the back hose bib and finally install the valves for the basement bathroom supply lines for the toilet and sink.  Once that's done, I'll pressurize the bathroom plumbing (again) and hopefully all will (still) be well on that end Thumbs Up

Short but nice chat with SJ tonight.  Running late today as we went out to dinner at Olive Garden and then went to B&N (I miss Borders a Bunch).  I did pick up the new OGR, which means I have 2 CTTs and an OGR to read as well as my TCA magazine and a book about little trains to far away places (narrow gauge).

TARDIS is ready - launch!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Attempt # 3

Good Evening All....

Sorry about your FIL John.  No matter how much we try to prepare, its always difficult.  Hope Mrs. Fullerton is doing well !  Time for reflection of memories.

Chief, glad to hear it was onl a small part of your hand.  How long will it be bandaged?  You should get at least a month of sympathy for that.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RAY !!!!

My FIL has had a rough time of it.  His surgery was on Monday, Tuesday while still under sedation he had a stroke.  According to the Neurosurgeon, hit impacted 2 areas of the brain.  He has begun to come out of sedation, and has limited movement on the left side.  But it is coming around for him.  Can move both legs and feet, and right arm.  Current prognosis is 1 to 1 1/2 weeks in hospital, then who knows for how long in recovery/convolescent hospital.  Wife was told to expect significant time in rehab, both neurological and cardio.

I'm sure some of you heard about the massacre in Seal Beach yesterday.  (About 4 miles south of here.)  Anyway, there is always something good that comes out of a bad situation, that is the same building where Kay has her hair done.  She was scheduled to be there at 12:45, the day of the shooting.  (Shooting occurred about 1:15.)  She rescheduled it due to her Dad's surgery to last week.  There is a network of women who go there, and Kay has met and had a casual relationship with a couple of the victims.  It is really unthinkable how someone could do what that guy did !  Killed 8 people, word has it the only survivor is improving.

On a much brighter note, I have ANOTHER jam packed, eventful week-end planned.  And NOW that I am "Revenue" trained, no telling where I will end up.  The park has a "Galloping Goose" car that is used on light attendance days.  I'm going to see what it would take for me to get on THAT.  I could handle driving that around the park.

Time to go get something round up for dinner, take care all !

And stay healthy and safe !!!

Don

Good morning everyone.  Lite schedule and so I will be going in shortly.  Not much going on.  Have home study tomorrow, so we have some paper gathering and straightening up to do.  Still have some reading to do and then I have to go pick up my bride and my health clearance forms for the social worker.
Don, I was afraid of that.  One of the more prevalent complications with valve surgery is stroke.  By its nature, the calcifications that cause the native valve to fail can also break off and embolize.  While it doesn't happen very often, it certainly is a negative outcome.  The progress after such a case can be painstakingly slow.  I will pray for guidance to the caregivers and to Kay.
Brutus, sorry that you have had such episodes to deal with in your vacation.  At least it is not -20 degrees on a holiday weekend!  Sounds like you have things under control.
Chief, hope you are doing better.  Keep up the progress.
To all the Yorkies...hope you are having fun.  Look forward to the reports of things seen and found there.

God Bless,
Dennis

Good morning from central North Carolina.  About 60 degrees and cloudy skies, but at least it's Friday.  Though it seemed to take all week to get here!  NC State Fair is in town.  I'm sure the wife and family will drag me out there with the hundreds of thousands of others.  Other than the giant turkey legs and a a few exhibits, I'd rather stay home and watch westerns on the TV.

Haven't done ANY model railroading in a while.  Just too busy and too tired.  Plus I don't have any room in the house.  We're currently looking for another place and I hope to at least have a small corner somewhere where I can lay a bit of track.
