Pretty day. Cooler, sunny and no wind. Been to pond and beavers came back and rebuilt dam. Tore it down again. They will give up after a week or so. If not, will catch them and feed them lead.
Kevin, can't take a little squirrel hunting. Go lame after that.
Off to County Commissioners and then all the Wake Co. Mayors are coming to Rolesville for dinner. Fitzgearlds is catering. Fried shrimp, oysters, fish, chicken and pork chops. Pork bar-be-que [Ray' type] and plenty of sweet ice tea. Veggie trimmings. Plop plop, fiz fiz.
Have a good one.

It's been a busy morning, Doc for me, stopped for grocery's on the way home, had some brunch and took granny for a haircut. She's asleep on MY couch now. Have a great Monday, I can calm down now..S.J.
The Tardis never arrived last night but I spent some time on the phone talking with Charlie about our toys.

Good morning all,
Birthday dinner yesterday for myself and for grandson. Grandson got a new electric guitar which made him very happy. He and my two adult sons had a jam session and played Rockin in the U.S.A. I went outdoors to check noise level to make sure the neighbors were not distrurbed. Not exactly my kind of music but it's a new generation now. I got a check to buy some new trains.
Chief, that deer stand of yours sounds like a great location with a view of the whole field from there. They had fields near Petersburg, Va. when I was a kid with stacks of peanuts piled up to dry. That was an excellent attraction for deer. Never saw a stand around there though. People hunted with dogs mostly in those days.
Got a schedule change today from the airline about my upcoming trip but not a major one. Just changed flight number and time on last leg of trip home. Only a few minutes of time difference. I wish they would quit fooling around though. Makes me nervous at this late date.
My two adult sons who are race fans were sad yesterday because of the tragedy at the indy car race.
Have a good week all,

Fife,
I am familar with Standard Operating Procedures aka Unnecesary Overcomplication of a Simple Task.
Not much going on today, just relaxing after working 5:30A-6P every day since Thursday. Got my TCA application back from Fife and Brent (thanks again), so I'll have to get that on it's way.
Good evening,
It's was a busy weekend for me. I spent some time studying for our last test which was today; I did very well. We graduate on Wednesday. My team also went out for some frosty beverages Saturday night, and a couple of them had too many and decided to try their hands at karaoke - it was not pretty. Earlier in the day on Saturday I went to a hobby store in Birmingham. It was a nice store but I didn't find anything I had to have. We also went the Montgomery fair Saturday afternoon. I had a hamburger which used Krispy Kreme donuts for the bun; a pork butt on a stick; a deep fried Twinkie, a funnel cake; and a root beer float. They all were delicious and thankfully I have an iron gut.
Doug - Thanks for the information. Unfortunately that offer will not help me - no blogging or Facebook for me.
It's time to see if the Dolphins can actually win a game.

We had a quiet afternoon, so no breaking news, banilla is waiting, also got some banilla frozen yogurt if there is anyone carrying too much luggage onboard..S.J.
Evening FellasBeen a while since I last posted. Been swamped at work and haven't even had time to read the Pot, let alone post. Probe - You are most welcomeChristina is growing by the day. I took her to have her 2 month pediatrician visit a couple weeks ago. She was 10.1 lbs and 22.25 inches long. Amazing how much she has changed in 2 months (now 11 weeks old). I will try to post a pic soon.Missed York last week. Really wanted to make it up, but just couldn't buy the time off from work. Still trying to get down to the trainroom to finish the realignment...Have to go to Pittsburgh this weekend to replace a sillc0ck (outside faucet), and 6 shutoff valves in the basement. I am really considering using the new SharkBite valves, a bit pricey but if they save me 4+ hours of cutting, sanding, and soldering I'll do it. Also have to replace 2 pillars on the back porch roof (not looking forward to that).OH - TheQ and I had a fireplace insert installed, have burned 3 fires in it already... hoping to get the right airflow to wood ratio down so I can save some $$$ this winter.
for those in need
Hello all,
Busy weekend. I tried to post Saturday evening after the reception but no go.
The best part about the Bedford PA train show was taking the grandkids. The show was smaller than I thought it would be. They need to quit scheduling it on York weekend. Bought each of the kids a Matchbox truck they wanted and that was the only money spent. Altoona show is this Sunday.

Got a brand new great nephew this morning. Dereck is his name. (hope I spelled that right)
Soy bean and corn are ready. To bad an attempt to harvest would probably result in getting stuck in the mud. Worse is the deer are back with a vengeance. May have to deal with them. Can't believe it's October 16 an no frost yet. The garden has been done for a couple of weeks. I think too much water did it in.
Vega. did you sit with your new friend this weekend?
Off to bed

Good evening everyone. I am on call and so got home late. Just finishing some paperwork as we had the social worker here this weekend. Also, we needed to get some paperwork in as we need to lock in our second baby's adoption. Both us and our kids are excited about getting two more to the family. We also had a great Sunday with church. Fox news was in the house as they were doing a story on the latest movie we made and also for the class that folks are invited to after seeing the movie.
Chief, good luck with catching the night hunter. We have some folks around here, snipers from Fort Benning and from the local Marine Corps base who come out with "Night Vision" rifles and do some hog erradication.
Don, Will continue to pray for your FIL. It sounds like he is doing much better than what could have happened.
Well, I have to get going. If anyone tried to post something directed at me, I missed several posts due to the absence of being able to post, I gave up and didn't come back here till today. Lots of posts since Friday.
God Bless,Dennis

SJ - we missed you tonight. Charlie and I had a very nice chat about boats, basements, plumbing, and other good stuff. There was a little condensation on the line to the outside (hose-bib), or I hope it was condensation! I dried it off very well to make sure there was no flux of anything there. I'll check it again tomorrow. We had a big temperature change and there was some humidity down there due to the plumbing work, so we'll see. If there is a pinhole leak, I know exactly where it is, so it will not be a tough fix.
Brent - aren't the days flying past you!? It's amazing, bro - hold onto it as much as possible. Personally, I like the solder, even though I burned a hole in my tummy. But, I've heard good things about the Sharkbites. Good luck!
The TARDIS motto - better late than hey we are there!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Brent used the shark-bite valves and connectors when I replaced my water heater they where such a joy to use and loved them was able to go from PVC to copper no hassle also. Highly recommend them.

It is rainy in SE Indiana. Thanks for all the comments of support. Monday was a better day than Sunday and today will be better still. Huge outpouring of emotion at IMS. Memorial service will be later on. Where ever it will be, will be packed. Supposed to have last regular season soccer game tonight, but weather may have say in that. May just stay home and run trains. Regular fare on the dining car. TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is clear and cool. 50 degrees. Going up to 68 today with a slight chance of rain, later.
Today is a busy day. I have my exercises to do and some phone calling. Paperwork is getting better. I will take a nap this afternoon. I have been working on walking up and down steps. Getting stronger in the knees. I want to go down to the train room by the middle of Nov. I should have put the train room on the main floor.
Dining car is here with Cheerios AND an omlet for breakfast. I think I will skip lunch.
Y'all have a great Tuesday.
Chuck
Good morning everyone. In the process of replacing a heating element in each of our two water heaters. Right now, the tanks are emptying. They have been drawing too much amps. My dad is coming down to visit this week. Looking forward to it. He is the one who first got me into trains when he gave me his set from 1949.
Just watched a news story on the elderly folks in Philly who were chained in a basement that these folks stole their social security checks. Some crimes should get severe consequences, but they probably will get off "because society made them do it".
We are supposed to have storms today, but it is supposed to bring the temps down to the 70s for the rest of the week. Should be nice for the time Dad is here. Gotta get back to the water heaters. Hope everyone has a blessed day.

UGH, wish some folks would b e quite in the morning. Woke me up.
Partly cloudy but rain on the way. Getting some things done around the house. Short meeting at 11:30 and Town Board tonight. Big rains expected.
Off to the pond to upset the beaver.
Replacement Droid is here and this one is now doing crazy things so will exchange today.
Hit the shower and then coffee.
Banks, get those crops in.
Cloudy, dreary, 41 degrees feels cold here north of Marseilles. Winter is calling. The furnace kicked in this morning when the wife got up for work for the first time. Must mean the house is loosing its heat through the night.
Better days ahead, went to the foot Dr. finally and got some meds for the foot and some meds for the pain so I could sleep.
A good friend came over yesterday and we installed a garbage disposal and replaced one of the strainer baskets in the kitchen sink. The plan was to have it done before wife got home as a anniversary surprise but as with everything out here 2 trips to Ace hardware at 16 miles a trip put us in a kitchen all tore apart when she got home. Anyway she did get a surprise that way.
On the layout I did get the rest of the switches wired and hope to do the pullovers and yard spurs today…Then I will have to learn how to operate it all.
Dennis, Good luck on the water heater project today. I am envious of your weather forecast. I spent a lot of time in Georgia back in the working days for Cat Logistics. Beautiful area and nice weather always thought about moving that way when moma can retire.
Well got to finish my Cheerios with Rasberries then off to the post office and store for some supplies.
Have a great day!!!

Aloha. Cold and grey up here in Chicago - just like Kevin has in neck of the woods. Brent, sure sounds like Christina is doing great. Banks, congrats on your new nephew. He needs a train set Dennis, those folks arrested in Philly have apparently done same identify theft across the country. How sad. Joe, one of my buddies in Japan is rotating out this week. He says you'll love the experience. His base was on Honshu.Ran trains last night and listened to the Monday Night game. Did any of you see this? http://lionelllc.wordpress.com/2011/10/18/new-product-spotlight-the-lincoln-funeral-train/

Mornin' FellasFew minutes to breathe today! The little one ready to go to daycare yesterday.Brutus - I find myself forgetting what day it is already! She is just so active now, even though she isn't crawling or walking. She loves to look around and just observe. Last Friday we went out for dinner and she sat with Susan for awhile and looked around while she had a little formula, then she wanted to sit with me (I was on the opposite side of the table) I guess so she could see what was going on behind her... we must have had 5 families stop by and say hi to her (not Susan and I, just Christina), then when we were leaving an elderly couple stopped us and said thank you for bringing her in, that she was so quiet and lovely. I'm not sure who has spoiled who the most!
Good Morning
45, some sun but lots of rain on the way, so they say. Brent put some of those pics on paper, I don't trust these electronic gadgets to save precious moments. Brutus I watched for the thingy, must have been running late. Took a sinus pill and went to bed. . . .S.J.
Well, I am back. Hot water heaters are finished. Longest part was emptying the tanks and cleaning out the sediment at the bottom. With the hard water we have, seems to collect rapidly. Got it all done and flushed, then I had to change the breaker that had gone bad. All good now and we have hot water without blowing the breaker and no leaks, so I guess I got lucky.
Kevin, thanks, we love it here. My wife is originally from here, I am from new jersey. I would never go back to stay, only to visit. It does get a bit on the warm side, but that is only for 10 months of the year!
Doug, I saw that report. It is a real shame that they get away with it for as long as they have. I hope the feds have enough information to get everyone involved, and send them away for a long time.
Time to get onto work. I am on call and will be there for some time. God Bless,Dennis
SJ - they are stored on 3 separate hard drives, and backed up online... chance of losing them is slim to none (I do this now because we lost 2 years of pictures due to an external harddrive failure 4 years ago. really sucks to lose 2 years worth of memories). And we print those that we really want to cherish. - plus there is just something about looking at a photograph vs pushing a button on a computer.
Good Mornin' Ya'll From partly Sunny Taxachusetts,
We are moving into the peak Fall colors period with the seasonal temps to match. I have judiciously used the furnace to take the cold edge off when the wifety is most likely to start her refrain "I'm cold." Fuel oil fillup @ $3.70 per gallon a couple of weeks back, doesn't mean much to you guys who are not stuck using fuel oil to heat your homes. Definitely the most expensive method to heat a home, and it doesn't look like that will change any time soon if ever.
Chuck........stairs were but a dream a month ago. There must be a cabal of naked women hiding under the train table in your basement to get you this motivated.
DougM.....I am with you. When I pull the DIY on home projects, it usually costs me more than ordering the expertise in. The coyotes are out there but are pretty stealthy, night hunters. Every trip out into the dark our dog seems to be aware of something out there in the underbrush at night, and I can hear some rustling around. It ain't rabbits neither.
DonB......your posts on the new job are a total hoot. I just love the complex achronyms which take a while to translate into the actual task at hand. And with training and management? Sounds like the blind leading the sighted.
Chief......I got a photo from Brutus' Dad, John, which showed a guy in hunter garb hanging from a tree limb while a German Shepherd was taking a pound of flesh from the guy's rear end. If it happens to just one "night hunter" and the incident gets spread in the media, the illegal hunters may take pause when they consider that they themselves might be the hunted in the darkness of night.
Banks......congratulations on the arrival of your new nephew. Hope Dereck (sp?) and Mom are doing fine.
Brent......one precious photo after another of your precious Christina. You and Susan are blessed. How does that fireplace insert work? Is it for a wood burning stove or for a more efficient conventional wood burning fire? When we have conventional fires here, we have to worry about the grandkids, especially the two year old. The dog, however, keeps a respectful distance without any warnings or training.
SJ.........at least your Lions are in the hunt right behind the Packers, have won all three of their road games, and are 1 of only 6 teams in the NFL with 1 loss or less. Was glad to hear that granny continues to get more adventuresome with time. She's making great progress!!!
Roy.........nothing you about your Rangers being in the World Series? Sounds like your Docs are taking the conservative approach. Hang in there!!!!
JoeyD......congratulations on toughing it out and on your upcoming graduation tomorrow. You must be anxious to get home.
SP Ray........no worries, mate. Just pray that your luggage doesn't wind up in South America.
Rich.......no Princess for you to supervise for a couple of days? Or is it no Princess to supervise you for a couple of days. My money is on the latter.
Kevin........it looks on a map like in Marseilles IL you sort of split the geography between DougM and Brutus. Hope the meds straighten out your foot.
Dennis.........your post about your dad coming for a visit reminded me of just how much I miss mine. Twelve years have passed since he passed, and there is not a day that goes by that I don't give thanks for how much he taught me about life and family.
DJ.........I wonder if this is change for the sake of change, or a CYO event, when four key players are suddenly cut from the team. When a company loses employees, it is usually because of abject failure by their bosses.
Gotta run, gang. Have a good one!
Jack

Our digital picture files are all stored both on our desktop hard drive and are backed up on an external hard drive. You boys are making me think I need them covered one more time to be on the safe side..
Brent.....make your saved picture files your screen saver on a scrolling, random slide show. You'll seldom see the same one twice and be seeing the memories every day.
Jack.
Lunch time
Just a quick check in. Things have been hectic and I have not had much time.
The co workers that were burned and received other injuries on Sept. 3, are still in the burn unit in induced commas. No word on any progress.
Prayers for all in need.

We keep our pictures a thumb drive as well as on the computer. I have one of those revolving computer picture frames that roll through the pictures so I have the thumb drive in it and we see all of the pictures as they come up. I like that picture frame and am looking at getting a biger one.
Jack Yes I am kind of between Doug and Brutus but closer to Doug.
Another sign of winter coming. Today, even at 1.5 miles south of I80 and 1/2 mile off the road back in the woods, with the fields are in and the leaves are down I can hear the trafic on the interstate with little problem with a slight north wind.
Down to the basement.
Latter,
Hey Jack,
How do you guys copy and past sections of others post into your post like in this one????
Tks,
Jack - we got a wood burning fireplace insert (basically just a wood burning stove inside the fireplace). We did so because it eliminates the burned wood oder in the house, and is far more efficient at providing heat. Last night I started a fire at 7pm, added 2 logs at 10:30, and at 6:30 this morning the blower was off and the first floor was still 70 degrees! OH, and the furnance didn't run at all during the night.
Chuck, don't overdo the stairs. Sounds like you are improving though.
D.Baker, looking forward to more episodes of the Knotts adventure. I volunteered for parking lot attendant one time at Cal Stewart under the hall. That was a zoo too.
Jack, no sooner got the airline change digested when I noticed they changed the seat assignments also and separated my son and I. They violated their own rules by putting a person with a portable oxygen concentrator in the center seat. (should be a window so no one has to crawl over you). Called the agent and got new seats assigned. However some mysterious charge of $150 pops up on the itenerary print out.. Called back and was told to ignore it. I'm good at that! Just have to watch the charges on my credit card. I am allowed to carry on my POC and extra batteries without penalty in addition to my regular carry on luggage so maybe we won't have to check a bag. Just have to figure out how to pull two things on wheels.
Tail bone is still bothering me but Aleve every 12 hours seems to help. Probably need to get better medicine from the doctor or have it checked out better. I'm hoping to get this trip in first before anymore medical procedures. Doctor had me on a short course of prednesone initially but took me off of it before it became problematic.
Foggy here this morning made for good sleeping late.
They ran the musical "Music Man" this past week end. Had forgotten what a good show that was and it really looked great on our new TV. Robert Preston sure was slim in those days. Weren't we all?
Checked out new MTH catalog on line yesterday and it looks like I am home free this time. Nothing that I need/want in there.
Chief, good luck on the poachers.
