Brent, congratulations on the new little one and glad you made it back to Md. safely.  I have only driven that route once and then only from Florida to Suffolk, Virginia.  Seems like we took two days to do it with overnight someplace on the way but we were towing a boat from the Southern tip of Florida.

Took Honda in for service this AM and got a report on a bad rubber boot on the front right ball joint.  I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did on a 96.  Smog and heat eats up rubber things here.  I decided to go back next week maybe to fix it since I already killed one and a half hours waiting for the car today.  I might just leave it next time and get a ride home.  I would like to find a service place close to home.  Dealer is too far away.

Took a pass on get together last night for running trains.  Too hot, too tired, what's new?  I enjoy them best when I go out there in the morning.   Still pondering what do do with MTH E6 with failed light circuit.  Kind of gave up on MTH service for a while but friend of mine wants to take a crack at it and see if we can by pass the circuit board and run some LED lights instead for headlight and mars light.  I really like my new WBB Norfok Southern Executive F3 A-B-A set and run that a lot.  Kind of a welcome relief to get back to the basics after fooling with electronics too much.

Hey Chief, forget about those stip(p)ers.  We just called em Rockfish in Virginia.  Wouldn't mind having some now.  You wouldn't believe the price of seafood in the market here.  Even farm raised.  Maybe it's like that all over now.  I remember when fish was a cheap meal.  When I was a kid the adults used to go on fishing trips and come home with wash tubs full of pan size fish, literally.  I guess the population explosion and commercial fishing have taken their toll on sport fishing.  I can appreciate "catch and release" programs for some stuff today but growing up it was "catch and eat".

Just got invite for dinner out with friends tonight.  I think we have only eaten at home once or twice this week.  We are getting spoiled but its my only vice.

Have a good night all,

Ray

TGIF!!

Great news about Brent, Q and Christina !!!!!

Cooler today in the mid 80's low humidity and a nice breeze.  Slept well last night, was in the 50's and very comfortable.

Later tonight will have dinner with a good friend then maybe head over to the "bar" for a mini class reunion.

I was in mid post and had a fire call....MVA on the Turnpike, turns out it was VERY minor, so nothing to it.

I'll check back later!

Brent,

Congrats to you and The Q again.  I for one am not suprised how quickly you got back to MD.Smile, Wink & Grin

Not much going on right now.  I am proud to say that I will no longer support Lowes after how they treated me when I tried to get a key cut for the Mustang last night.  I went in with both working sets of keys and the Ford PATS 2010 key blank which is uncut.  After the employee refused to cut it, I kindly asked why, at which point he raised his voice considerably yelling that the key is encrypted.  When I told him that that doesn't affect the ability to cut it and that I can program it myself, he proceeded to yell at me saying that I don't know what I am talking about.  I told him that I have read all three volumes of Ford's Workshop Manual for the 07 Mustang cover to cover before I walked out.  I was so mad at that point that I felt it best just to walk out.

Luckily, there is a small family run hardware store in town that will cut it.  Rant over.

Afternoon fellas.

We made to my FiL's at 3:30am. We made the 13hr 48min trip in 12hrs! That includes 5 stops for drinks, food, diaper changing, and consoling. Smile Christina was a trooper! Only 3 squaks the whole trip.

Exhaustion took on a whole new meaning.

Christina has filed a formal complaint with the "executive" members of the Pot.  She has accused you of parental abuse:  According to the complaint:  "Said new Father did not provide a rear DVD player (with wireless headphones and surround sound) for the Princess to watch her favorite movies during the trip."  Smile, Wink & Grin

Good Afernoon Ya'll From Sunny Taxachusetts,

What beautiful weather.  Low 60s at night for sleeping.  A dry low 70s here now.  Things however are heating up on the Cape Cod beaches facing East.  While the beaches are open the "water" is not.  Great White sightings continue with them feeding on the seals.  Any humanoid dumb enough to press their luck and swim with the shark will become chow.  Laugh

I went to the vet this morning with Maximus as it seems ha has a slight eye thing going on.  $135 of care later, we are told "No worries" by the vet.  The same Bausch & Lomb antibiotic ointment I had to use recently for a stye and related issues cost $28 more at the vet!!!! Bang Head

MikeC.....the Indy Car race this Sunday is in Loudon NH at the New England Motor Speedway.  About 80 miles North of me.  Luckily for the wife and me, we won't be going anywhere near there.  Three factors are certain to create gridlock on Sunday afternoon/early evening:  the vacationers returning Southward, the race, and the construction on Route 93 South.

Fife......."Let Chief's strip(p)ers go!!!!!!!!!!!  Let Brent, Susan, and Christina go while you are at it.  Laugh

LAZ...........pointing, isn't that what hunting dogs do?  Wink

JimSP........boy are you busy.  Between family, work, the church, and your kiddie football coaching, your plate is pretty full.  Thumbs Up

Rich..........that's OK, buddy.  We all suffer at times from rooting for the wrong team, the bad guys, the arrogant spoiled ones. Wink

V8Dennis..........all you need is a drill and some 3/4 inch lag bolts to keep that rear view mirror in place.  Big Smile

Brutus..........Blackberry?  Droid?  My cell phone is so old it has a crank on the side of it, presumably to let the party line operator know I need to make a call.  Smile, Wink & Grin  Glad to hear the continued good news on Char.  I read somewhere that lawn mowing might be good for her.  Wink

8N.......... those State Fairs can be taxing on the legs,  Glad your wifey's knee didn't get overworked.  Thumbs Up

Brent...........at our house (Grammy Pammy and Grampy Jack's) we don't have any proper, current technology in dirty diaper disposal.  I made the mistake early on of throwing one in the garbage can in the kitchen.  The only one who seemed non-plussed by the stench was the dog.  Surprise  By this time you and the family should be safe and sound at home.  Once again, Thumbs UpThumbs UpThumbs Up and BeerDrinks on the arrival of your little one, Christina.  Victory is sweet.  Hard fought victories even sweeter.  BTW, are those sleep deprivation bags under your eyes, or did you walk into a wall in your present condition?  Smile, Wink & Grin.

Mel.............no apologies necessary re the comment about the steamy FLA weather, or your wish for Winter to get to here..  We are blessed with a more moderate Summer and beautiful Falls up my way, and we usually don't get snow much before Christmas.  It's the January-March timeframe we suffer in New England.

Dennis.....your children are already headed back to school?  That's un-American!!!!! Laugh  Your comments about the difficulties and obstacles in the adoption process sounded just like words of the CEO of NewBalance shoes who was on the news this morning.  NewBalance manufacturers shoes here in the US of A.   He said government over-regulation, and the cost of that regulation, is one of the key factors driving businesses (jobs) abroad.  Government just doesn't get it, whether it is over jobs/employment or adoption.  There is a pattern here.

Gotta run.  Prayer for all who need them.

Good morning everyone.  Took the day off as it was the first day of school for the kids.  It was nearly two hours to drop both kids off, drop my wife off at the hospital and come home.  Normally, I could have the trip done in about 45 minutes.  I am sure things will be much lighter once folks get used to the system.  One problem is that they have all the county schools in a small geographical area and lots of conflicting traffic patterns.

Colin, I have enjoyed skeet and trap shooting for a number of years.  I won a 870 Express, but I also have the Wingmaster.  Regarding Skeet/Trap, I have a few double barrel guns that I love.  Whatever gun is most comfortable and allows you to pick off the birds intuitively, that is the one you should get.
Chief, There is a lot of difference in meaning when you leave out that "P".  Hope you make many memories with that 22.  I think I have had more fun with 22's in the past than any other weapon.
Lee, tough break.  Many folks are getting hit with similar issues.  Now, more than any time in recent memory, it is important to remember that it is not getting knocked down, it is getting back up that makes us strong.
Jack, I agree that the paperwork and all the hurdles to adoption are frustrating, but the reward is well worth it.  Careful discernment with regard to the home study should clear up any potential to a bad outcome for the children, so I agree with that, but as we are all seeing with the latest rounds in DC and also in our state governments, each system wants to get their paws on our wallets.  They vie for control and regulation so that each gets their fees.  One glaring thing that gets to me is that you need to update the I-120 form.  This is the one that requires finger prints.  It expires after one year.  If the adoption process takes longer than 1 year, you have to pay the fee and travel to a federal finger print facility (in our case, 3  hours to Atlanta), and have everything re-done.  These are finger prints! they shouldn't expire.  OK, I am off the soap box.
Brent, I remember something Barbara Bush once said: "I was an expert on raising kids....till I had my own!"  Oh, the dirty diapers.  Amazing how the first two weeks, they seem tame.  Then, they both stink and come in volumes unimaginable from such a tiny child.  I also just read that you and your family have been set free and are on your way home!  Congratulations!!!  May the love of your family continue to grow...You and SusieQ are so blessed, as is your daughter.

Jim, As SJ mentioned above, the gears reaching the outside of the flange causes the engine to jump the frog.  I have some old Marx pieces.  My answer to that problem was to build a loop without any turnouts on a raised level.  I just have these engines relegated to that line and it makes it easy to control their speeds, etc.

Got to get to working on some of the adoption paperwork.  My bride handles most of the work, I just write the long forms out.  Well, hope that each of you have a great day and are blessed.  I am sure Brent and family will try to get as much rest as possible to recover from the journey.
God Bless,
Dennis

70/80 today, gonna be a nice one.

Phish, early Marx engines had a drive wheel with a gear on the inside edge, this gear would not fit through Lionel switches so it would lift the loco up and over the frog. Best thing is get some old Marx switches.

I haven't planned my day yet, enjoy yours...S.J.

TGIF!!!! Two more weeks of summer class and then Fall semester starts-three classes so far-maybe four. Have been spending some time with the trains. Pulled all the connections to the transformers in the train room. Relabeled, rerouted, and began to reconnect everything. It had been a while-several years-since I first put that all together and it took more than a little while to figure out which wires went where. An electrician would have a stroke!

I did make an interesting discovery (to me anyway) about Legacy. I thought I was having issues with my Legacy Hudson acting up. Finally noticed the batteries were just about drained. As long as I keep the batteries charged, the issues have gone away.

Still hotter than @#%$*&^^% in Noth Florida (aka South Georgia). I'm almost looking forward to our winter!!! (Who said that?)

Great day here today.  Sunny, low humidity, low 80's.

Opening day at the State Fair today.  Wife and I spent most of the day there.  Ate the obligitory once a year fair food - corn dogs, Itialian susage sandwich with grilled onions, funnel cake, fresh roasted peanuts, and 'fresh squeezed' lemonaid.

We always enjoy the 4H exhibits, the handcraft eXhibits and the photography and art exhibit.

My wife did well with all of the walking today, being about six months out of knee replacement.

Got to get to the LHS soon.  My replacement Santa Fe freight set is supposed to get here this week.

About all for now.

Anj - hope you get some good sleep dude.

Jim SP -- Char is doing really well.  She's still on a few meds, but they have been reducing them each visit.  She had a biopsy (bone marrow) about 2 weeks ago and it has been tender and taken a long time to get better this time.  She has a follow-up appointment Monday, as a matter of fact.  Kids are doing well, getting ready for school to start up again.

I ran the Dewitt Clinton tonight.  I need to put the video up on youtube.  It did load up to FB, so if you have me on there as a friend, you can go check it out.  Once I get it on youtube, I'll share it here.  I upgraded some program on the phone and now it will load to various websites.

Chief - in fact I could post on here with my old Blackberry, but I had to turn all options on on the browser program - Maybe it has to be open as a popup, even though it doesn't look like a popup?  I can usually fiddle around with a computer or something and get it to work, but no luck yet on the droid.

TARDIS is ready - we have banilla, of course!

Evening all,

Kids cleaned up and in bed.  They went to the county fair and Gabriel had football practice.  Did more teaching of tackling and blocking fundamentals.  The center a QB are starting to click.  Working with them on the snap.  It is fun, and they like it too!

I won some three rail tube track ( did I really say that?) on ebay for the Marx Tin plate.  Looking forward to seeing it run.  I remember something about Marx trains not liking switches?.    Is that so?

Jim F - How is Char doing?  I may of missed last report.

Brent - You and Suzy Q are in my prayers.

Jack - Looking Forward to your pot summary.

Greg NW Flyer - That tin plate is addictive!

Buckeye- almost TGIF

Still working on the weekend homily so I need to go.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the low 80s.  Got some much needed rain.  Work has been busy.  Life at home has been busy as we getting ready to move Lucas and fiancee to apartment.  Will be taking U-Haul van to Bloomington tomorrow.  Took "Victory" drinks out to high school soccer kids.   Saturday will be reffing two games of that American sport, soccer, for the youth league.  Sunday will be watching traditional American open wheel racing (Indycar) from New Hampshire on ABC.  Looked at the new Lionel catalog online.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,
