fifedog 88 - Actually, we did get an official invite. I just didn't want to stack on more time to our already 8+ hour jaunt. After crawling thru 3 different storms, it was the right call. Was gonna spring in on him at the mansion. Will have to wait for another time for a little R&R at the lake estate.

Sure enough invited him and whole "crew" to drop in for a stay. Told him how to get there from MB. Lot better than driving I 95 [I 85 is better].
Good night all.

Good morning all,
IIABSDISEIWTITHN (with temps in the nineties). Saving electrons. Good day at work. Went with wife again for a walk. Took it easy last night. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". Signed up for Fall Soccer. First game is August 30th. Youth refereeing starts August 13. Great AMERICAN sport. TBIL. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cooler and sunny 68 degrees. Humidity has come down a lot. No rain here. Going up to 90 today.
Today is a busy day. I have an errand to run and some chores to do. Finished project last night. I will take a nice nap this afternoon.
Dining car is here with the usual for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.
Chuck
Good morning guys. Trying to stay caught up on things here. Bob, it is great to have you back. Hope things are going well in your neck of the woods. Still keep the prayers going. 8N, my dad rode the Cog Railway up on Mt. Washington way back. He used to have a pocket knife with the Cog Railway advertisement on it. Probably still does, but I have not seen it in many years. Perhaps we will bring the kids up some day. Chief, having been there, I can highly recommend that folks take you up on your invitation...a good place with enjoyable company.
It is looking like rain....again. Have the construction folks supposed to be here today, but with the weather, it may not happen. It will be nice when it is all done. SWMBO is liking the work to be done which will allow me to be happy. On the train related front, I am in the process of reading the latest CTT as well as I read the email from CTT in which they expand on the items to get from craft stores. Some good suggestions there. It would be a nice on-going thread to have with everyone adding items found at different stores to add to our train experience.
Better get going. Hope each of you has a blessed day.Dennis

Bad news guys,
The Mt Washington Cog Railway is going diesel, It already has enough to maintain a full service.
Steam will be retained for special events only.

Good morning
70/90 today. late storms forecast, we shall see.
Well at least there has been no grass to cut and the green weeds are easy to find and deal with. I forgot to mention that the trains ran last night with no mishaps, that usually doesn't happen when guest's visit. Enjoy your last Wednesday of July 2011..S.J.

Aloha. Sending more storms to SJ and Mike C. Welcome back, Bob! I remember riding the Mt Washington Cog Railway back in the 70s. It was super fun - especially in a thick fog.

green97probe Brent, I've never heard of slenderizing before, but it sounds very painful. Had two cavities filled yesterday after work myself.

Lunch Time,
Crazy day here. Everyone wants everything and they all think that they are the most important person or department. I just tell them if you did not abuse the equipment it would not break as much.
SJ, I never knew that Stroh's mde ice cream.
SPMan, Ray, the numbers are going lower. Good Luck.
Laz, I like that analogy. Deadliest Catch is a man's soap opera.
Dennis, Good Luck on the adoption. My heart goes out to the plumber who lost his son. He will blame himself for the rest of his life.
Bob, Good to have you back.
Mike, You mean that you are now a BASEBALL UMPIRE for the AMERICAN GAME.
Everyone, have a great day,
John
Good late morning all,
Overslept a little so everything is about an hour later this morning. Pet bird was raising caine to get out of the cage this morning and is in with me now on the computer. I had to cover his cage last night to shut him up after 10:00PM. That seems to work. Otherwise he will keep on squawking until you go to bed.
I missed a chance to ride the Mt. Washington Cog Railway. I have visited the in-laws several times in New Hampshire but never found the time to go up there. We did see a lot of other local sites though including the "Old Man on the Mountain" rock formation which, incidentally has since fallen down. I also saw "Little Squam Lake" which is where they filmed "On Golden Pond" and Lake Winnepusakee on another trip. We did go to North Conway and rode the train over there.
V8 I think it was you and I that started the auto paint thread. I got a tip from D.Baker on a paint shop. At least it sounds like from you guys that the high volumn cheap fast and dirty shops are not the way to go. I agree with that.
My next project is to get my tall palm trees pruned. They are about to go to seed and start dropping a lot of stuff. Have to get them early otherwise little palms will be springing up after next rainy season.
Hot weather is reducing my train time in the garage so the trains need to be run more to keep batteries charged. I have the old style MTH external charger but the newer models have a different style of connector. Why did they do that? I think I answered my own question $.
Laz, you are having entirely too much fun running the lokie. Lucky you.
Prayers for our forum buddies with special needs.

I think Wifey has a slenderizer in her bedroom closet. Isn't that the thingy Suzanne Summers was huckstering late at night...?

Afternoon All
Having an easy day today, (BTW tooth still hanging in there, only 1 more week then get the "permanent one". Jello and bananas is a lousy diet.)
SubmBob - Glad to see you back !!
V8Vega - WOW ! CONGRATS, FANTASTIC NEWS, JOB WELL DONE !!!
Really feel bad for the guy who lost his son! That would be absolutely terrible! Just really settles in as a constant reminder how thin our life line is. Best to always be prepared.
Dennis - From your post I'm assuming the printer that is giving you the bad time is the old one and not the Artisan. If the problem just started, you may have a problem with the address in the computer as a result of installing the new one. You may want to reinstall the driver of the old one. (Available from Epsons website.) Also try printing a "nozzle test" on the old one or a "Print Test", if that doesn't print then there is something internal, assuming the cartridges are ok. I will send you an email regarding the Artisan, a device is available that is just like putting an IV (IVee, not Roman Numerals), on the printer. Eliminates replacing cartridges all the time. And they really work good.
Spent the day clearing Right of Way and excavating for the G-Scale track. As it turns out I will have 2 curve pieces and 1 12" straight section left over. Can't believe how well it will work out. It is going to fit just perfectly! It will circle around a Tiki we have in the backyard, then go down and circle around a Mill Stone, then back. Will be just enough for effect.
Kay broke her foot a week ago and she is hobbling around pretty good. Unfortunately she leaves on Monday to drive back to Wis., with her parents. She will be doing all the driving. Going to be gone for a month ! No telling what I can get into in that time frame. Chris will be flying back there the following week and spend a week there. He is suppose to be visiting relatives, but he has been doing a lot of geological research for the area, and hoping to do some rock hunting. Not only did he get various maps and stuff, but contacted schools in Hayward, and Ashton to see if they can provide any information on what surface stuff he might be able to find, that isn't covered by forest or thicket.
Calif Superior Court decided I have too much free time, so they decided to have me come in for Jury duty for a week. Not so bad, I don't mind it. It seems they call me every 4 or 5 years. Twice never called on jury but usually end up on one. Did one murder case, and a number of robberies in the past.
Need to get back to work since it is a little cooler, (84 now), need to dig a trench and bury some conduit with electrical so as not to interfere with track.
Later
Don
I've been in that situation where I couldn't decide if I wanted to let things go. What I realized was that I couldn't part with the item since the thought of that bothered me so much. I don't regret my decisions to keep those items, and I know I would have been looking for replacements the second I let them go.
V8vega watch it most banks have a fee to close account befor a certain time now so you can't open for a short period. most are either 3 or 6 months you have to keep it open or you will have to pay like $35 - $50 to close it befor hand. just check out your paperwork they gave you closely.
Not much going on here
Still have a little of this cold or what ever it is. sore throat is gone but still have cough'n fits from time to time but not very often.
T.G.I.F. and I'm off but back to work the weekend. oh well.
Take care talk to you all later
hope all having a good week one more day then its
V8Vega, congratulations on paying off the mortgage. We did ours back in the 90's. The original lender had turned our mortgage over to another place. When we went in, they acted very disinterested. I forget the details but glad it's over.
D.Baker, the outdoor layout sounds like fun. I thought about that once but the pool takes up so much of the backyard there is not much room left. Sorry to hear about Kay's broken foot. Hope she gets well soon.
I was on jury duty several times over the years. All I ever got was drunk driving cases for the most part. Since I turned 70, I don't have to go if I don't want to. I would still go if it weren't for some of my unpredictable health problems.
I hope the grown ups in congress will settle the nation's business before we default. That won't help anybody.
Good luck on your second "permanent" tooth. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow to check on something going on with my partial. It feels like I am biting my gum or something. Hope it's not expensive whatever it is.
This is day number 4 with the cockateal. We are slowly getting used to each other.
Until tomorrow,
Good Evening
72 now. Lots of rain headed our way disappeared. I just goofed off and enjoyed the summer day. Had some more lemon ice cream but got lots of banilla for the Tardis gang..S.J.
Toss some of the Stroh's this way SJ...
Long work day today. Is it Friday yet? Would rather be back up north on my boat.

Good evening all!
Dennis - I just got finished reading the article about the 17 year old. Horrible! Like DonB said, life is so thin and fragile! That family sure has our prayers.
JoeD - After a couple weeks of not going to da Bronx, we were scheduled to have gone to last nights game (Tuesday). Only I got called to go to work and had to miss it! It's really not so bad though considering we are going to about 12 other games this year. So they went without me.
SPRay - Birds! You can have them! My son has two in his room, a gift from his girlfriend. They are the alarm clock from H...!
Chuck - Were you able to watch the entire game the other day? I imagine as much as you want to not watch you probabaly couldn't turn away.
SubBob - Nice to have you back.
V8Dennis - Congrats! Now you spend more on something that rides on rails!!!
Night All!

I got nothing guys. Wednesday, work is wearing me out lately, but it will get better. Too hot to think and need to mow. JB and 8NT, I read about that switch to diesel also, but I think they run steam once a day still? Prayers, congrats, and hope all are well. Reading a good book - A Most Magnificent Machine about the first railroads in the US. Very interesting
TARDIS is ready and we have some banilla with fudge, peanuts, and sprinkles if you want it, so let's go!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Good evening all,
I had a busy day at work today due the Secretary of the Air Force visiting our base. His trip was short and really uneventful. The family and I spent a relaxing evening at home. The wife made biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs for dinner.
Traindood – I studied the picture some more, but I do not know the umpire's name. In my defense I was only 4y/o in ’78.
Roy – I should be able to find a reliable used car or two once we get there. We will not need anything too fancy since most of our travel around Japan will be on a train. RT – You are correct; we will most likely buy a car from another service member who is heading back to the States. Dennis – The lemon lots still exist. Unfortunately, the current policy states no incoming personnel can bring vehicles with them. However, all the trains and track are making the trip anyway. The structures and buildings will be in storage.
Welcome back Bob.
AF Ray – I’m sorry you had to miss the game, but I’m not too sorry since you get to see so many more. The Yankees took it on the chin today.
Brutus – Keep you head up and keep plugging along; you’ve handled tougher issues than this.
Good night,
Joe
Good night all. Busy day and started early. Did do lunch with the female PD Officer that helped me with the anti-litter video. We are doing one on DWI. She has it all "outlined" and got all the LE comunity lined up for the video. Guess who is going to pretend to drive drunk, get arrested, cuffed and put in back of police car?
Dennis, did I miss something while away. You adding another one to the family? Just read a post on "good luck on the adoption".
Demay, Japan is a good duty. You will enjoy.
Off to bed. Early meeting in Raleigh.
Still hot. The beans in our vegie patch gave up today - withered up and dried out over the last day and a half.
Bummer about the Mt. Washington cog railway going diesel. Economically, it probably makes sense though.
Somebody mentioned the Old Man in the Mountain. That rock formation did fall down quite some time ago. I remember reading about one of the state legislature members demanding that he be picked up from of the bottom of the hill and be reassembled!
I've noticed that I have aquired several 'Minuteman' train train cars, enough that I am casting about for some sort of Minuteman themed locomotive. Those little #59 motorized units are really pricy! Anybody know of anything else that might be available? Of course there is always the possibility of re-painting a 600 series switcher.....
All for now.
IIABSDISEIWTITHN. Work went well. Lucas and I played a version of "Horse" with a soccer goal instead of that round object up in the air. He was winning until I started using my left foot on shots. Old age and treachery.... Had a successful, smoky run with the Scout set last night. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
It is a warm 74 degrees. Going up to 86 today with a slight chance of rain, later.
Today is a busy day. An early errand to run and then, the usual chores. A project this afternoon, which might let me slip in a short nap.
Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
Hi GUYZ,
Worked most of day yesterday on the stone veneer wall yesterday then had a dentist appoinment. Came back and went to contractors barn to borrow some scaffolding and today gonna finish up brick veneer on low side of addition. Clean up all the fronts with vinegar and water solution then tomorrow put mortar in sack and squeeze mortar into joints. Should be done with short walls tomorrow? Then to start on large wall.
CHUCK our schmINDIANs are playing terrible again, they got no hitted last nite but how did they score one run in the first and get a no hitter pitched against them?
Stay frosty,
laz57
LAZ..... In last night's game, the run that was scored by the Indians in the first inning was scored because of an error. So, the Angels were credited with a no hitter.
Granny just brought me my first real BLT of the season.
72 now, 90 for the day. We finally got a pouring rain overnight. Means the grass will probably start growing again. We will be off soon to visit one of her sisters. I'm trying to do some summer visiting. Enjoy the day...S.J.
