Aloha. The youngest had a good birthday in the way only youngsters can have - with plenty of pizza, ice cream, cake and presents. LOL. Sunny and unseasonal cool continues but I don't mind. It seems there's only a few weeks when I don't have to run an air conditioner or furnace. Might as well enjoy them.

Ray, as you know, it's possible to travel by air if you need oxygen - everything depends on the airline's particular protocol for providing oxygen in-flight.

Morning all.  Slept until 8:20!!!!!!! [at the lake, dogs get me up at 6 AM, because their Mom gets up that time everyday, up there I have to snooze on the couch to make up for the early getting up].

Mike C, forgot to tell you.  One of the teens killed last week [Lane Meyer] was a great soccer player.  Actually went to Europe and played last summer.

Mow grass and work garden today.

Have a good one.

Last financial piece of puzzle fell into place last night with dad's house.  We get Lucas' stuff out of there and we are done.   There is a light at the end of the tunnel....finally.

Mike C. - This is awesome news!

JT - If you don't plan to let the 'Stang see salt then there is no need to destroy the underside of the car with tar (which is basicly what rust proofing is). BTW - ever wonder what happened to all those rust proofing companies from the '80's - they are out of business for a reason - the manufacturers improved their protection processes and made rust proofing obsolete. This is also why they now offer 10yr - 100,000 mile rust warranties on the body. If you plan to keep her for a while and plan to work on her you will be happy that you decided NOT to rust proof.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a beautiful, sunny 68 degrees. Going up to 80 today with sunshine.

Today is an easy day. I have a few chores to do and a small project to finish. Then, I can relax and spend some time outside. And an afternoon nap, of course.

Well, the Indians finally won a game. They beat the Yankees at Yankee Stadium 1 to 0. Could not have been at a better place. Hope this is a start of a winning trend.

Dining car rolled in from "Points West". We will be having Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s today.  Slow day at work yesterday.  Scrimmaged with the high school boys last night.  Washed wife's van first so I could go have fun time.  Last financial piece of puzzle fell into place last night with dad's house.  We get Lucas' stuff out of there and we are done.   There is a light at the end of the tunnel....finally.  Maybe I will be able to run trains again.  I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Evening...

Been a busy day!  Over the weekend, (Fri Night) on of my caps broke off.  Got to the dentist Saturday, and a Root Canal was scheduled for today.  (BTW Chris put $1 under my pillow Sat night.  Told him that he was out of date and current rate was $20, I was getting cheated.)   So had the Root Canal done, with a temporary tooth installed.

Then have ANOTHER appointment tomorrow, Neurosurgeon or Neurologist one or the other, then lab work Thursday, so Primary Dr, can review blood panels next week, then back to Dentist, oh I forgot the Dermatologist in there too.  All this since I quit smoking 3 months ago.  Knew I would just start falling apart.

Tomorrow AFTER the Dr's appt, start taking apart the layout.  (At the Oncologist's house) Sad.

Spent sometime in with my layout and everything was really running great.  Really like the little Trackmobile.  I'm really impressed with the short wheelbase and continued operation going over switches etc.

Wife and I discussed a trip she will take in August to Wis, for a family reunion.  She will end up driving her parents back there for 3 weeks.  Hmmmm  got to start thinking, nothing been said about any restrictions.

Hope you all have a great day.

Good evening all,

We had a great dinner with our company tonight and we had some train time to go along with it.  I don't have much else to report.  I posted three new photos of my layout's town area.  I made some changes due to the Crossing w/Flashers coming back.

Train-related question: What do you all use for lights in buildings?  I have used some inexpensive lights in a couple of my buildings, but I would like to light multiple floors in my Ameri-towne buildings and was looking for an easy way.

John/Traindood - Wow, now that's poor.

Chuck - That was a great pitching match tonight, but unfortunately your Indians got the best of it.

Good night,

Joe

Cloudy and 70's today, with some thunderstorms this morning.  Dang grass is growing again.

Probe - I'll chime in on the side against extra rust proofing.  Rust prevention is a whole lot better from the factory now than what was done on your J-car.  Your car, though, so it is your choice.

All for now.

Thanks Doug - it was a big project, but worked on it in two separate steps.  This part I did all myself, so I'm nervous Laugh  I don't think I have any leaks, but there were two drips.  One was right below a relief screw on a shutoff and I tighted the screw - we'll see if that was it.  The other was right below a screw on valve for toilet supply.  I put a wrench to it and turned it another half turn, so we shall see.  But so far so good Thumbs Up

John - yeah, I was blushing a bit when the guys showed up to help me, but they couldn't move it either.  Had to put a strap on it and "tow" it out to good ground.  Actually took it all the way up and put it on my patio, but I was driving it in reverse as they pulled.  It wasn't sunk in, but there was a lot of wet "clay" type soil there and the wheels were just spinning.  Live and learn!

I felt so sorry for my daughter tonight.  I sent her out to do the leaf blower and a cicada landed in her hair - the horror was palpable -- and very very AUDIBLE!  Tongue Tied

TARDIS is ready and we have banilla with A&W, plus we have a little buffet of left over BBQ and Spaghetti (don't ask!).  Let's go!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Traindood no idea ask chief or one of them

for mustangs I had a few in my day. loved them all except the last it was okay but no power.

1st was a Dark blue 70 with a 302 ( my first car as it was my parents then mine)

2nd was a 73 with a boss 302 engine in it It was my oldest brothers but I bought it from him weird car if I dropped a qt of oil it would increase HP about 25-35 horses

3rd my favorite was 67 289 high performance from factory guy on my 1st ship needed money it had 114,000 miles on it in 77 and I gave him $400.00 for it I blew the engine in it racing and was transferring next week and didn't have time to do anything with it this guy that lived in apartment complex i did liked it and offered me $500.00 for it i said sold

that was my mustangs especially like 2 nd and 3 rd

4th was 81 with a 4 cylinder barely could pull it as it had the automatic trans it did okay but no real get up and go. or compare to what I was use to.

Brent, Roy, and John,

I understand where you are coming from against rustproofing, but I am worried about leaving it as is.  I saw how nasty the underside of the Sunfire was, and I don't want this Mustang anywhere near that.  I will not let it see any salt, so that should help.  We used to have a Ford dealer in town, and the owner now rents storage space inside the building from $50/month.  That's a small price to pay to keep it safe during the winter IMHO.

On the other hand, not rustproofing = more $$ for upgrades.Smile, Wink & Grin

Ken,

I am having trouble starting in first because my left leg becomes tense, and I either stall it, or leave some of the tires.Sad  My aunt and uncle both drive it and make it look so easy.  Neither one wanted to get out.Laugh

Doug,

I love the 05-09, but Ford outdid themselves when the 2010 came out.  The first GT I looked at last year was a '10, and it was amazing inside and out.

Spam FTW.

Good evening and thanks guys.  We did have quite a time of it.  Regarding the casinos, even if I did want to drop some coins there, the smoke would kill me.  Was bad enough just passing through.  On the topic of flying, I would avoid it if possible.  I usually try to choose my CME meetings on location....something nice, but within driving distance.

Ray, that trip sounds great!  I look forward to taking an extended train trip, but with the family, I will wait till the kids are older and perhaps more patient.  We do have some opportunities in the next several years to do some exotic vacations, but will have to see.

Well, router had been giving me trouble since AT&T had a bump in the super highway recently.  I went to office depot and purchased a new Cisco router and all seems great.  I will hold onto the old one in case, but we are happy with the new one.

Take care and hope to check in soon.

Afternoon fellas and gals:     Heavy rain last nite, now cooler.   Hey RT, thanks, cars came today totally sealed and unblemished.  However, when I power up track for observation car, kinda weird viabration going on, any ideas?    Hey Jim;  wheels are sweeeeeet!!!  Easy on the clutch, you'll get it, just like ridin' a bicycle, once you get, you'll love it.      Hey  John; drove my good buddy's brand new '65 stang back in the day, purple convertible with black top.  Always felt like I was sittin' on the ground.    Didn't care for it too much, great girl getter though, oh yea!   Cool    Hey Doug;  re: M. Hamilton; can't judge a book by it's cover.    Hey Joe;  you had Spam!?    You are like one of those affluent  families we used to watch eat Spam thru the window!    Now I can finally afford to eat Spam, but my cardiologist won't let me!    Laugh   Hey Ray; got the same problem flying, only with the ticker. Not sure if all the prep is worth it.  Probly better off with my two feet on the ground!       later.

Dennis, what an exciting trip to Lost Wages.  I see you were smart enough to keep yours.  The helicopter  ride must have been spectacular.  We went on one in Hawaii once over Waimea Canyon on the island of Kauai . The whole flight was choreographed with music as we flew over the edge of the canyon.  Shared the ride with another couple who's wife got airsick but I was determined not to let it bother me and it didn't.  Not at those prices.  I haven't traveled by air now for over 3 and a half years since I started using oxygen part time at night.  Doc thinks I would probably need it to fly also.  I would like to test myself somehow to see how I would fare.  I have thought about taking a ride up in the mountains around here to the 8000 ft. level with my portable oxygen concentrator for a back up and see how I do.  They say that airline cabins are only pressurized to equal about 8000 ft on land, not sea level.  I have thought about taking a train somewhere but when you look at the sleeping car cost it defeats the purpose.

A railfan organization called "Train Orders.Com" is putting together a nice train trip in August with private dome cars etc. from LA to Oakland (Emeryville) on the Coast route and then over Donner Pass the next day after one night in a hotel .  All meals on the train are included. The trip last for several days including hotel stays in Reno and side trips to Nevada State Railroad Museum and the V&T railroad among other things.  I have always wanted to ride over Donner on a train.  My son and I might do it sometime on the regular Amtrak train and fly home from Reno if I can get the oxygen business figured out.

Have a good week all,

Ray

Lunch time,

Probe, Jim, I agree with Brent on not rustproofing the Stang. It has been done at the factory unlike my 65 Rustang.

8n, you are right about the workmanship chopping a car and getting the angles right. People do not understand the skill that goes into it.

SJ, that is a great comparision gambling and theme parks. When we go on a cruise I have a limit per night for the casino, both time and money.

Joe, when we were kids fried spam and fried baloney were a treat for us.

Laz, your Minnie sounds like our Mack, a Black Lab / Pointer mix. He is very friendly and has to say hi to everybody and animal he sees. other than that he is very well behaved.

Brutus, thinking about the lawn tractor and I had a flashback when I did about the same. It brings a smile to my face.

Tragedy hit over the weekend. A young man who graduated High School with my son on Wednesday was found floating in the Bay over the weekend. An investigation is underway.

Have a Great Day,

John

Good morning all,

Well that was another weekend that went too fast.  I did the usual chores around the house and took the kids out for walks.  Yesterday we had church and a whole bunch of relaxing.  However, I did spend a few hours on the layout: I rearranged the town area which meant rewiring the buildings.  But now the town has a few street lights and is laid out more efficiently.  I'll post some photos tonight.

I have to go to a meeting in OKC this afternoon which will end up being my entire afternoon.  We are having company for dinner tonight so I cannot spend any time in OKC at the train stores once the meeting is over.

Chuck - The Indians will turn it around but I hope they wait until after tonight's game. Smile, Wink & Grin

AF Ray - The bleacher seats are always fun.  That's where all the riffraff sat in the old stadium - we felt right at home there.

SJ - I love fried Spam, but unfortunately my wife cannot stand it.  We did not have much money growing up and Spam made up many of our meals.

Good day,

Joe

Aloha from a beautifully sunny and cool Chicago.  Today is the youngest's birthday - his final year in single digits. Busy weekend - found the oldest museum building in IL on Sat and drove down for a visit. Truly a classic, with stuffed animals and mannequins on exhibit. None of this new-fangled electronics. Needless to say, we were the only ones there. Worked all morning in video at church yesterday and held a birthday party at a local indoor pool. Surprised at the number of people who never responded to the invite.

SJ, since Fathers Day is this weekend, maybe you can get some more meals out of the family.
Brutus, sounds like the plumbing worked. A big job done well. Congrats.
Don B, what a nice gift. Those Trackmobiles look nifty.
Buckeye, what a great vid. Sounds like your nephew enjoyed his trip.
Congrats on the new Pony, Jim. 07 was a good design year for them.
Traindood, Margaret Hamilton (the Wicked Witch) lived down the street from me when I was growing up. I knew her only as the Maxwell House coffee lady. She was nice in real life.
Fife, too many of my fellow commuters run across the tracks to make their train. Especially since the inbound are on the 'opposite' side - a legacy of the C&NW. Fines here are $400!
Laz, hope you keep us posted on Minnie's progress and your summer work on the railroad.
Dennis, I like Vegas. Especially in Jan. when it's super-cold in Chicago.

Morning all!

Sunny and hot here as usual.

Announced to wife last night that yesterday was the start of Fathers Day week - OW! Fife, what was - OW! - that you said - OW!?

Dennis - nice trip and as you carefully set the stage - "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas...."

Probe - gatta agree with Brent. The old style tar stuff all over the underside makes a car very difficult to work on. Lotta plastic under there now and the galvanized dip the manufacturers do is pretty effective.

Doug'snottaG - nice find but I would avoid the 3 foot header off the trestle anyway!

Have a great day all!

Regards, Roy

Good Morning

61/70s today.

A week in Vegas and no gambling,oh my. I love Vegas but always had a daily allowance for gambling. Hey sometimes I won. And those that say it's throwing money away, it's no different than spending a week at a theme park. Actually cheaper if you add food and lodging. Fried egg with Spam for breakfast, now there's a healthy sandwich...lol..S.J.

Thanks all for the compliments.  I took it out and practiced a bit more today and tried starting out on a hill.Oops - Sign  Definitely need more practice there.  I spent last night standing in the garage and playing with the Mycolor option, which is great.  I need to call about rustproofing asap as well.  It is clean underneath, and I want it to stay that way.

I highly recommend AGAINST rust proofing. Many manufacturers will void their warranties if you rust proof, and all cars now come with a more reliable coating on all metal surfaces that is better than the tar goop that is rust proofing. Having worked at a car dealer I've seen it first hand and the dealer always told us to never have it done.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cool 60 degrees. Looks like a sunny day at about 78 degrees.

Today is busy. I have a few errands to run and the usual chores to do. Worked in the train room yesterday. Finally got my SF  FP-45 running. Found a broken wire to the circuit board. Pulls a long train nicely. Has the same motors as my Trainmaster.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Monday.
