Buckeye - glad you guys are okay!  No bad storms here for a while, they have all been North or South of us?  The images from Joplin are terrible.  A lady at work has a relative there and drove out there to find her.  She found her alive, but also found a dead body while looking for her and said there were bodies everywhere Sad  Prayers for them all and all who have been hit by storms this year.

Still checking out the IVOR stuff online, some neat stuff for such a primitive cartoon.  There was some real talent behind it, that's for sure Thumbs Up  John Baker - I sent you email replies, but guess your filter is killing them?

TARDIS is ready and we have some goodies, so let's get going!

Cloudy, rainy & 70's again today.

Got the hatches battened down 'cause there is a bunch of red showing up on the radar up wind from us.  Gonna be an interesting night.

Wet spot still on the basement floor.  Could be rain getting in from outside, could still be an internal source.  Will have to have a dry spell to know for sure.

All for now.

What a wild day!!!  Power went off last night at 9:45pm and was not restored until 11:00am today.  I must admit those new LED flashlights are great!!!  I'm going to buy two or three more.  We used the old Sony Walkman with plug in speakers for a radio.  The battery backup in the weather radio worked perfect informing us of the tornado warnings north and west of Roger's Corners.  Moved the meat from our freezer to the neighbors beer cooler powered from a generator.  Big Smile

Speaking of beer, I think I might go get a cold beer brewed in Ohio with a big bowl of Ohio grown pop corn covered with creamy Wisconsin butter.

Fife - Thanks!  and I did tell her there would be more frogs than princes....just sayin...

The white hats backed out the interior guys early on, especially when the propane cylinder on the forklift blew...made believers out of all of them...

Drizzled and fog this AM, came up sunny and humid later in the day.

Lunch Time,

Miracles will never cease. We are having our safety picnic/lunch reinstated after a few years of budget cuts. I can not remember the last OSHA we had at this location. We had 1 MVC, and it was years that we had one before. The MVC was definitely not our guy's fault. He was waiting for the gate to open at an urban location in North Jersey and a resident decided to drive down the sidewalk and hit the bucket truck broadside. You can not make this up.

Chuck, I see that you are a Certified Member and I see the distinquised officers' names on it.

Blueberryhill RR

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

........Indians bet the Red Sox yesterday. That was a good game. In the rain.........

Chuck

Chuck.......this loss for Boston last night was painful for me to watch at the end.  The Indians didn't quit, didn't let the rain or the threat of a possible early calling of the game bother them, their pitching did a stellar job again, and they did what they had to do to come from behind and to win at the end.  The Indians are firing on all cylinders and are the winningest team in baseball nearly 30% into it for a reason   If their pitching holds up they will continue to be be tough to beat.  While Boston is on a roll, they just lost one of their starting pitchers for the season, Matsusaka (sp?).

RaySP and AfRay......I am a born and raised Chicago boy, hence my rooting for the Chicago teams.  Been living out here in Taxachusetts with the family for the past 23 years.   DougM used to commute to work right past where I used to live in Chicago, within 100 yards!!!!  And NAVYJACK (RIP) lived in my neighborhood where I was born and spent my first 3 years..

DougM.......While the Cubs and the Red Sox haven't played each other since WWI, ya gotta admit those Boston throwback uniforms from 1918 have to go down amongst the top 5 worst ones in baseball.  The players looked beyond simply silly.  Thanks for the pic of your boy.  His smile says it all. Thumbs Up

Fife........you always make me laugh.  Your alligator reference was classic.  Reminds me of the father telling his daughter's date with a straight face "I don't mind going back to jail again.  I'm used to it."  Smile, Wink & Grin

Question:  will someone please tell me what to say to a friend or a relative who calls you for advice again and again over time on the exact same concern, takes no action, and repeats the refrain over and over again.  I think I am stuck in Ground Hog Day (the movie) syndrome.  Tempted to say "Well, how is doing nothing for the past year working out for you?"  Or change my response and say "I don't know" and just shut up.

JohnB........thanks for your condolences on what our weather here across the pond has been doing to the victims and families of these violent and unforgiving Mother Nature events.  It doesn't seem like we can cut a break.  They just keep coming.  Makes me thankful I don't have much more than some snow, cold, and now some persistent rain to deal with.  I whine about not being able to mow some stupid grass while people are dying and/or losing all of their earthly possessions and/or losing their livlihood.  I need to slap myself upside the head and get some perspective.  They are still pulling survivors and the not so lucky from the rubble in Joplin MO.  Angel

One thing we don't have to contend with at the present time is volcanoes.  Thumbs Up

8N........hope your wifey is not trying to gut it out and go cold turkey with the pain meds.  Back behind the wheel of a car?  Yahoooooo!!!!!!

Brutus.......Jim, that MO. storm had us worried about you and yours.  Part of that same front moved North and East toward my FIL and DougM.

JoeyD.......I can treat my entire property (on short money) for weeds in about an hour if I am organized and hauling.  Ortho now has some long lasting formula now that keeps a lid on the "dead"  for up to three months.

SubmmBob........any updates on the Corvair van?

Yes, where is Spanky?!?

MikeC........is it my imagination, or have the Indy qualifyig times been flat the past few years?

Later, gang.

Aloha. Sunny and 60s. Jack, those 1918 uniforms were hilarious - we thought the Cubs were sponsored by UBS. Jim, Win7 is nice, but still far over-big and impossible to upgrade except manually.  Look what we worked on last night.

Hello all,

Quick  Coffee this morning. 71 and muggy @ 7:00 am, seems more like Mid July weather. Lots of clouds yesterday but not much rain. More of the same today.

Son is busy doing field work. Ground is still a little on the wet side. I'm going to put the tiller on the Gravely and try the garden this evening.

The TV images of the Joplin area are heartbreaking. More Angel for them.

SS fund is calling.

Prayers for those in need

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny and calm 70 degrees. Big storm missed us last night. Just a few minutes of high winds and rain. Going up to 82 today with sunshine.

Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of chores to do and then, I can relax and take a nap. As soon as this weather gets better, I can take a nap outside, under the big shade tree.

Indians bet the Red Sox yesterday. That was a good game. In the rain.

Dining car is here with the usual breakfast.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Good monring all,

It is stormy again in SE Indiana with temps in the 70s/80s. Work went well yesterday.  Weather put the kibosh on outdoor activities last night.  I had the regular on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL and I can drive after a short hiatus.  Swiss Miss will be the co-pilot.  If anyone doutbts her ability, I merely refer them to Saturday.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Brutus, I wish you could respond to my e-mails. I find this forum a bit of a trial. It has a mind of its own.

Auran Trainz is a waste, I have bought all the latest stuff from them and their web site just screws around with me. A pity really, when it runs it is good. I use the old MSTS, the program is at its limit, but there is plenty of software available, I also use PI Eng. RailDriver, gives a good experience. There is some new stuff around 'Rail Simulator' and 'Rail Works', they seem OK. Trouble with MSTS is it isn't happy on W7, so I run it on my old W XP machine.

We are sorry for you poor devils suffering at the hands of the weather, I hope you will all get through safely. We've just had a weekend of strong winds. Blew a couple of trees over and wrecked a rabbit hutch.

I can't get this brick Tardis airborn.

Joe - Just got back from da Bronx, UGH! Another night of not hitting with runners in scoring position.  This is starting to worry me.

Chuck - Thanks to your Indians the Sox were held in check. I just wonder if you have enough pitching to keep up this pace for long.

Jack - Where's the ties to the Cubs?? As for you Sox I've always believed they are our main challenge this year and won't be satified until with a week to go they are 10 games back.

Good night all,

Good evening all,

All went well at work today, and I even spent some time at the firing range.  The weather turned very ugly around 1630 and we were in a tornado warning.  I went home and made sure the safe room was ready to go.  The base's tornado sirens then sounded which meant one was near.  Fortunately, it touched down in the fields a couple of miles from us and quickly went away.  Some other areas saw a little more activity but nothing like Joplin.  After the excitement was over, I played Legos with the kids.  The Yankees lost tonight but so did Boston so all is right in the world.Smile

Jack - I pulled the roots and all; that's why it took me three hours.  I may spring for the chemicals next time.

Chuck - Your Indians came back tonight - nice job.

Good night,

Joe

Rich and Fife,

Thanks.  I am just glad that things fell into place.  Everything about this one just feels right.  I am waiting for them to call to start the next step.

Banks,

I am not sure when I start yet.

Jack,

Toy Town makes baking in the sun for the week worth it.  Plus, you get an experience that ebay just can't match.

JohnB,

As Brent noted, 7 blows XP and Vista out of the water.  7 is user friendly, stable, is actually compatible with software and hardware, and doesn't produce several dialog boxes whenever you move the mouse that asks if that is what you want to do.  That broken mess known as Vista had none of those.  I had to buy David Pogue's Vista book to get a better understanding of Vista.

Not much going on here other than me waiting for the phone to ring.  I bought another PSP and am slowing buying back all the related stuff that I once had before I foolishly let Gameshaft basically steal it from me.

Cloudy & rainy today.

My wife started the day without pain pills and drove herself to onr of her activities.  First time in the driver's seat since before her knee replacement last February.  Progress!

Basement puddle - What called my attention to it yesterday was a wet spot on a shelf, about 3 feet off of the floor.  That rules out seepage through the floor.  Roof leak - maybe.  There are two vent stacks and a dormer in that area that would provide sources.  The roof is only three or four years old though.  The other feature in the house in that area is one of the dining room windows.  Took a look at it yesterday and saw that the caulking around the window sill is in bad shape.  Had a pretty heavy rain shower this morning, and the puddle appears to have come back. Hard to tell though, because it was not completely dry this morning when I left for work.

My scout size Wheaties box car arrived today.  Low milage, not chipped, crisp lettering, but 30 years of grunge on it.

Talking about outdoor projects, I got the string trimmer out for the first time yesterday.  Poured gas in it and it started on the second or third pull.  Not bad, I'm thinking.  Then I notice that there is gas dripping off of the fuel lines.  Then the string runs out.  Then the off switch won't turn it off.

Prayers for those in Joplin.  Also for those in Reading, Kansas, a small town south west of Kansas City that got hit hard too.

Dentist appointment today.  Told them that the flouride mouth wash would be easier to take if it was Maker's Mark flavored.

Laz - Was the NHRA drag meet you watched in Kansas City?  Don Garlets was supposed to be running his Challanger Drag Pak car in the sportsman class there.  I think he named it Swamp Rat XXXV.  I thought about going, but talked myself out of it 'cause I thought it would be rained out.  It wasn't.

All for now.

Chuck - ever talk to Spankybird?  Never see him post on the pot anymore.

Rich - heck of a fire!

Jack - good on you man!

Prayers for all the dead and devastated in Joplin.  Last night on the news they had the toll at 24, but today I heard it is at 116 or more.  Sad

Thanks for checking up on us Chief/guys!

Lots of great stuff today, guys.  I read it all, but just can't keep up or remember all the comments I wanted to make, lol!

OH - RT already has Home Grown Tomatoes!  Lucky duck!

Kid brought a Lionel O Gauge train, 4-6-4 NYC in original box with all the original paperwork on the Antiques Roadshow.  The guy told him it was worth 1500 to 3000.  I guess due to all the box and paperwork and stuff?

Baker - I ordered one of those books you recommended on British goods wagons.  I also have a version of the trains simulator I got a year ago and it is impossible.  I can't figure out how to download new stuff or make new plans or anything.  I got it online through STEAM and it took me like 10 tries just to get it registered through Auran.  I haven't touched it much since then - Grrrrr.

TARDIS will be ready shortly.  Prayers for us all and our friends and families.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good Evening Guys, and good to see you John Bakeer!!

Another day at work in the books.  Now to microwave dinner and run over to my sister's house with some prom pictures.  The Princess sent me some and Facebook'd some, so I got an idea of how everyone looked and the "party place".  Seems my daughter is quite lovely....thank goodness her boyfriend respects me Smile, Wink & Grin.  Heard from the Princess mid-afternoon, all was well, just going home after lunch and she was very happy.  Her date was quite accommodating and danced every time she asked. Graduation is June 10th, I fully expect to watch the videos of her graduation as the water works will be on in full force.

Jack, good on you....my parents are in their mid 70's and nothing and I do mean nothing stops Mom...Dad has slowed up a bit but still teaches Scuba, Mom is the "go to" person in our church.  I'm glad you found a good friend and was there to save her day. Thumbs Up

As for the roadrunner...has been put on the back burner until the Princess has graduated.  I have some of the parts to get the project moving, just no time....and Memorial Day parades will take up more time this weekend.

Angel - Brent & the Q, Dennis and the family and those in MO., especially our brother firefighters (2 stations) that have lost everything.

Big fire last week, look for my ladder truck @ 12:00 min. mark and I make an appearance about the 13 min mark.....I'm running the master stream off our ladder (black helmet with ID tag swingin' off of it, tan gear and air pack)

Cloudy and dark all day, threats of rain, but just drizzle, t-storms later....

Check back later!

Like I said 7 is good, Vista a prob. My XP machine is good as I use MSTS. I do have wide screen, and all the latest stuff.

Trainz is a pain in the butt. won't run or download new stuff. Brilliant sim. but the site is so user unfriendly. I have binned the lot.
