Afternoon all!
Hmmm Chief! Nice pair o' ears on that bunny?
Partly cloudy, very windy, very humid, and an unpleasant 85 out so far.
Afternoon Easter dinner at my wife's niece's house tomorrow. They live on Lake Lewisville so should be a nice afternoon with the extended family.
Sounds like everyone is having a nice day.
Regards, Roy
Good Late Afternoon,
Chief, It looks like the kids had a good time at the egg hunt. Are you sure that the first Easter Bunny is not in the costume.
Dreary day here, rain all day up until about an hour ago. Started train inventory with my son and we operated them more than we worked. It is great when the wife is at the shop. That is the time to do the inventory. AF53 knows what I am talking about.
Set my Std Gauge 402 w/ the matching Passenger Cars to display on the top ledge of the brick wall above the wood stove and set up some of my O gauge Hudsons on the wooden mantle. When I figure out how to post pictures I will post them.
Everyone have a great Easter Sunday. I will try to make the Tardis.
John
HUBA HUBA CHIEFIE!!!!!
Nice bunny ears.
Looked at taking the hood off the SD40-2 and I'm not gonna do it today looks like I gotta take off the trucks first to get at the body screws. Just might have to run engine without smoke?

Well, stayed cloudy but no rain for the Easter Bunny. The Easter Bunny and I arrived at the Main Street Park in a "flury" of excitement. Here is a picture of the Easter Bunny:

Good afternoon all,
We arrived to the in-laws' house about 30 minutes ago. We stopped at a hobby shop on the way. I have never been to it before so I'm glad I stopped. Although the shop does not carry many O items, it has a very, very impressive HO layout inside. It is part of a local club here in the Tulsa area. The prices on the O items they had were fair, but I did not need any of those items. There is one more hobby shop in this area I want to visit and hopefully I'll have time later today.
Dennis - Let me know if you have time. I arrive to Brunswick on the 29. I have some briefings to attend on the 30th and 1st, but I don't believe they will last very long. I will have time the following weekend as well.
anjdevil - Thanks for the information. From what I can gather from Folkston's website, it looks as if one can have a great time watching trains from the platform.
I may not have time to post tomorrow so I hope everyone has a Happy Easter, especially the Yankees haters who need Easter the most .
Regards,
Joe
anjdevil - We'll be here. Stop on by.
Happy Holy Saturday from Rainy Central NJ!!
Just got back from my "errands", the computer is free and I have Tarzan on Turner Classic!
A word on my sports teams, NJ Devils, NJ NY Giants and NY Yankees. If they don't make the playoffs, yeah, I'm bummed. But I've been spoiled! My Devils have missed the playoffs TWICE since 1996, the Giants have hung in there and the Yankees...well...27 Championships...any post season run is a blessing for me.
Finished up getting my Flowers for my "girls" (Mom, Sister, Sister in Law and my Aunt) so I'm ready for Easter Vigil Mass tonight.
Doug - Happy Anniversary!!
Spoke to my Princess via text, she is a little bummed...prom issues with the mother, but she's doing ok. Miss her a lot and won't see her until June.
I've been to the Folkston Funnel twice. There is a covered "porch" with tables, chairs and a scanner. Has lights for night time and a grille. Double track main line. Across the street there is a museum, but I've never been. There are a few BnB's and places to eat close by. All in all a great place to chill and watch trains!!
I'll check back later, Happy Easter in the mean time!!

Good afternoon guys, been lazy so far. Built a locomotive work station so I can oil/greese the engines and rolling stock. Took a 3/4" piece of scrap wood, put 2" thick foam glued to top and two long pieces of 2" foam to make the cradle.
Joe, I will have to check with the bride to see if those dates will work...perhaps I can catch up with you in Folkson (gives a great excuse to bring the family to Savannah).
I am heading in to do a few projects for the layout and then to tackle the honey do list.God Bless,Dennis

Thanks, SIR JAMES and PROBE,
I did the blowing down the stack. I will take a look under the hood this afternoon. I let youz know whats up.
Aloha. Hey the sun is out! and Happy Easter. Ray, $15 for parking at the Dodgers seems a bargain - it's between $17 and 22 at Sox Park. Celebrated our anniversary with pizza at a local bar with friends after church. Looks like it might be a nice day after a lot of gray and rain. Glad Brutus is OK after the St. Louis twisters...

Laz,
Does it start to smoke again after being off for a period of time? I'd say the wick is charred from what you described.
Has anyone ever heard of a lantern retainer in an 022 switch snapping off? I noticed that the pinion on the bottom of the retainer would sometimes bind with the rack, then it just snapped. I've got that other motor on the way, but it has a srew scocket, while the remaining good motor is the 1950+ bayonet socket. I am undecided to leave that as it, remove the screw type and replace with the bayonet type, or get another matched pair of switches.
Morning to All,
Rainy dreary day here in Gettysburg. Seems we haven't had three days of sunshine in a row in a long time. Hope Spring finally arrives. We had to turn the heat back up because it was so cold in here last night.
I may try putting the track pins in the All Aboard panels and see if I can get a train to run. Wish the track clips were available. I'm hoping to connect the panels and then slide it under a bed in the spare bedroom so I have a place to run trains indoors. My little layout room is cramped and cold(or hot). If I was 15-20 years younger I might consider a move to a house with more room to build a layout. Getting closer to retirement is no time to move, especially with this economy and housing market.
More chores today. I've got a stack of vinyl LP's that I need to find a home for and a bunch of VHS tapes that need a home too. When we get some different furniture I've got a turntable converter and VHS converter that I'd like to hook up to play the occasional VHS tape or LP. Have to find some bookshelves that better match the new credenza we bought for the TV, but that's not happening soon. The bookshelves we have are the kind with the glass doors that cover the items and that is great because it makes for less dusting. We'll have to keep shopping.
Take care.

Cloudy wet morning. Got wet trying to mow [as high as mower would go due to tall grass] the lake house "acreage" yesterday. Now have stuffy nose. Got kids Easter egg hunt this PM. Chat later.
Good morning
57/70 with for real sunshine, wow what a sight.
Laz try a gentle blow down the stack, you might have a smoke fluid bubble. That may not be it but it's an easy place to start. Eggs and cornbeef hash, 1 toast for breakfast. Granny say's turkey burger for supper will balance out the meals. S.J.

Hi GUYZ,
50 here and rainy, to rain all day? Ran trains last nite for 2 hrs. NO PILE UPs all ran good.
QUESTION FOR YUZ GUYZ?
My new sd40-2 CSX diesel has a little hick up. When I turn on the smoke unit it will smoke for about ten seconds then go out. Is this because they might have hooked up the wrong pin to the smoke unit? Seems like it was hooked up to a pin that would be the oscillating ditch lites, which this unit doesn't have? Don't know just throwing this out to yuz guyz, any help would be appriciated. I did reset the unit to no avail.
Stay frosty,
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cloudy 62 degrees. Rained with big thunderstorms last night. Going up to 70 today with more rain. Lots of flooding in low areas.
Today is a busy day. The usual chores and then I can relax. Maybe a nap later. Indians game rained out last night.
Dining car is here with the usual breakfast.
Y'all have a great Saturday.
Chuck
Good evening all,
We had a nice Friday at home. The wife cooked fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, and baked macaroni and cheese. That is quite the Southern meal and one I can enjoy only about once every two years. It is tasty, but fried chicken is too heavy for me. I suppose I could not eat the skin, but what would be the point in having fried chicken then.
All except for me are asleep. I will be soon as well. We will be driving to the wife's parents' house tomorrow and we will spend the night so we can celebrate Easter with them. I prefer to have Easter at my own home so I can roast some lamb and also make Italian Easter pizza. It's not so easy to make those items at someone else's house.
AF53 Ray - I'm with you. I do not go crazy when the Yankees don't win it all. At the end of the day it's only a game and has no impact on my day-to-day life.
Dennis - Folkston Funnel looks like a great place to visit. It's about an hour away from Brunswick, but I will have free time on the weekends while I'm there.
Good night,
Good evening all and Happy Good Friday!
NIce service at church tonight followed by homemade Hot Crossed buns made by daughter #2 and a cup of coffee, mmmmm. Seems like the site is at normal speed tonight, keep your fingers crossed!
Traindood - Unlike most Yankee fans if the year goes into the tanker I don't jump off the bridge. I might be depressed for awhile I'll admit but I've been a fan too long and I realize you can't win them all. Although it would be nice!
Jim - Green97 - Nice one!
DougM - Happy anniversay!
John - Hudson #685 - Missed you tonight, what happened?
NJDevil - I wear mine often. It seems every birthday, fathers day or Christmas I get at least one Yankee shirt from one of my thoughtful kids!
It is rainy in SE Indiana. Made some progress on clearing out dad's house today. Also cleared out a bunch of old paper work as well. Headed to Bloomington tormorrow to spend day with daughter and son. TBIL anytime and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
WOW it worked tonight, congrats CTT.
Good Evening
41 and lite rain
Noon church service was good, food after was good, I ate too much that was bad. Couched for awhile, watched TV, played on this here laptop for awhile. That was my wasted late afternoon. No banilla for me but plenty for the Tardis ride...S.J.
Good Friday Gents
Long day at work, got home @ 730, clocked in at 0745. Making progress, shall we say.
Had lunch with a good friend and her daughter and next door neighbor's daughter at McD's. Salad for me and fish for her. Had a good talk. Going out on Monday night for dinner, her treat. It was nice.
Brent, nice pics of the layout.
AF-Ray...I HAVE that shirt...!
Going to DC for Easter with my bro and his family. Hey Fife, I'll wave as I go by.....you're not working Easter are you?
I represented the Fire Company, parade dress uniform and all, at church last night to have my feet washed. The Holy Water was...um...COLD!!!
If I don't check in, have a Blessed Easter my friends.
Good evening,
I just finished reading all of the posts since Monday morning, WOW, a lot happening.
Well the rain almost held off long enough for the granddaughter to finish mowing the grass, she did finish, but did the last few minutes in the rain. I finally felt safe enough to get the snow blower ready for summer storage and put it away. Hope that doesn't bring on a late April storm.
RT, Yes that is MTH catenary. I still have to do the loop in the other room before I can run an electric all the way around with the pantograph up. One problem I did discover is that getting it aligned on the curves is tough because not all electrics have the pans centered over the trucks, so some swing out more than others.
Don, As Brent remarked, that scrapple was undercooked. It should have been sliced thiner and cooked longer. I'll make you some the next time you are in for York. Thanks for posting all of the pictures. Oh, and don't take your suspension to hard, the time will pass before you know it.
Chief, Don't tell me you are making PAM go back to work after she retires. At least you could let her take a part time job. Poor girl
Brent, Thanks for posting the layout pictures, makes it easier to understand the changes that you described to me at York.
Hope I covered everything,
Have a blessed Easter day.
Good evening everyone. Early day at work with a lot of paperwork and phone calls to get out of the way. Finished in time to take rest of family and some friends of ours with their kids out for lunch and a fun afternoon at a park. We had the place to ourselves for quite some time. Kids decorated eggs tonight and are out having a egg hunt with plastic eggs (they hide and find them for quite some time).
Doug, happy anniversary! Hope you have a great day with the bride.
I have a list of honey dos to get to this weekend. Hope to get most of it done tomorrow. Bride will be going out with one of her friends to a movie...and I will have the kids too. Can't complain as she does so much of the work around here.
Hope everyone has a great Easter. We are expecting a lot of extra folks for church, so we may have to move to the over-flow in the chapel. Funny how some folks come twice a year....but we are glad they know where they are supposed to be.
God Bless,Dennis

Joe,
I have to get the parts. I was going to order this past week, but Jeff was at York. I'll get them soon though because I've got these 022s to work on also.
