Aloha. Raining again. Feels like Portland.  Dennis, thanks for the link. Band of Brothers really gave the feel of the Bulge.  Rich, check with your service provider to see that they don't charge you extra for 'tethering' your Droid. It can be pretty expensive.  Sorry to hear about the Spankybirds' museum.  Hope it makes it. Brutus, feel better. Don, the site slowness had nothing to do with your photos. I host a forum with thousand-long threads. It's the software.  Ray, Joe, good, rare win for the White Sox against the Pinstripers.

60 here to get to 78?  Got some big storms here last nite with heavy rain.  Looks like trout fishin on hold again, til water goes down.

BUCKEYE, when is the annual fishin trip to Canada?

Stay frosty,

Good Morning, Beautiful but cloudy, 61 going to 80.

Got home late from the antique truck club last night. With the price of fuel we are expecting low turn out this year at shows.

Mike, Is that soccer of scuba practice with all of the rain.

Ray, I have my eye out for it. We are going to try it out before you leave. Burgers on Sundays, may be a good idea. Thanks Jack for the idea.

Good morning all,

"Window over Terre Haute" in the rain yesterday allowed me to mow dad's yard and the unsubmerged part of ours yesterday as the rain continues in SE Indiana.  Cleaned our office area yesterday and got rid of much unneeded stuff there.  Tired of cleaning.  Hope kids show for soccer tonight.  Glee was horrible last night.  That is an hour and a half of my life I will never get back.  No wonder I do not watch much TV.  TBIL after soccer.  I hope everyone has a good day.

PS.  Dog did catch a rabbit yesterday.

Keep on training,

Good Evening All,

AF Ray, - That engine is working pretty good, going to see about getting some decals or repainting the cab.

Had a good day today, just about finished all the wiring on Glen's layout.  There are a few small issues will need to untangle, (think I have a bad TIU, going to send it in for replacement, we have 2 on the system so it will not bring the layout down.) but should be able to get them cleared up soon.

We had some great weather today, mid 80's, suppose to be even warmer tomorrow.  (Should be some great weather at the scope on Friday/Saturday.)  It is really cool driving home, end up driving along the coast thru Newport Beach, Huntington Beach, Sunset Beach, Seal Beach, always a beautiful drive, much more pleasant than the freeway.

I don't think the pictures I posted are responsible for the response time of the forum, but will limit the number of photos in the future.  (After ALL dont want to have too many suspensions going on at the same time.)

Worked a little on my layout, going to add another street to the Business district, "Wall St." and also a Drive-In Theatre.  Will be cool getting some changes done.

Take care all,

Oh one of the local communities is celebrating "Cinco de Mayo" on April 30, since 5 de Mayo falls on Thursday.  ---- Only in Calif.  (talking about adding a .01 cent tax per oz. on carbonated drinks)

Cloudy, improving to sunny about quitting time.  Got into the mid 60's

Brutus - that thing you got sounds like what I had over the weekend.  Hope you beat it quickly and feel better soon.

I was looking through e-bay last night and saw a couple of auctions for a MPC era GP9 at a very low price, no bids and time almost up.  Intrigued, I took a look at it.  Starting bid was 99 cents, shipping was $185!  Text confirmed that the shipping was correct and not negotiable.  That explained the lack of bids.  Looks like this tactic did not work to avoid the e-bay commission.

About all for now.

Good evening all,

It was another rainy day here in NW OK.  Fortunately we have been getting some much needed rain and none of the tornados that usually come through here.  I had an okay day at work but I am trying to finish many tasks before going on a work trip to GA.  The wife made chili and jalapeno cornbread for dinner tonight.  I did not run trains tonight but I was able to read and play games with the kids.

Brutus - I hope you feel better soon.

Dennis - No worries, I understand how it goes.  I will PM you my cell phone in case you are able to work something out.

Dougagrump - Thanks for posting the article.  I hope the museum picks up some new sponsors.

AF53 Ray - The Yankees blew another one tonight, but at least the Red Sox lost.

Good night,

Joe

We had a storm with some lightning last night.  Called RT and talked for a while.  I woke up too late to get on the computer for the chat thingie.  I was feeling puny yesterday anyway, but then couldn't sleep.  Kept waking up all night with like acid in my throat and just feeling ill.  I went to work today and just didn't feel good - more shenanigans are going on and I just decided I didn't need to be there so took a personal day.  Took it easy all day and then dozed off, so hope I didn't miss SJ or anyone if they were online.  Hope all are doing well and we'll catch up on the TARDIS rides - SJ, you know where those keys are, so you and Mike can take turns tonight.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Windy, warm and chance for showers tonight. Tomorrow night at the Stadium for game #3 around 60, nice! Just the other day I won an AF 1941 set. What makes this special is it's an 0 Gauge at 3/16 scale. Can't wait! John, let me know when it comes.

John -  Sunday Evening BBQ's sound good. And yes I do believe Doray was part of some sort of testing, but it might not have anything to do with the teeth Whistling

DougM - Sound like a real nice deal. Hope you can take advantage of it and have a nice time with the family. Around the Bronx you can get tickets from Stubhub for about half face value for weeknight games. That could be as little as $5.00 per seat, they do charge an additional $5.00 per for the convenience of printing them at home though.

HEY RICH - Cake My son has a Belgian Waffle maker and every now and then it's use for a nice dinner.

Jack - The Sox were and are too good a team to have thought they were cellar dwellers for too long. Just as long as they are in my rear view mirror is all I want. BTW - Thanks for the recovery prayers as it must be working. I feel about 95% now. About the scars, well he put four holes in me so it could have been a mini golf course but three of them were only about a half inch long and the fourth was about an inch. So I'm guessing that there will be no need for tatoos. But thanks for the thought!

Don Baker - Nice buy! Congrats!

Have a good night all!

Evening all!

Cool here today and cloudy. Bad storms south of us so all is well here. It is good we got some rain so we are now about normal for the month, but 4.5 inches low for the year!

Jack - the destruction from the fires is astounding. The homes were incinerated - nothing left - a lot of the metal melted. Yet the house next door may be standing without a scratch. The winds were really high (30 mph steady with 40-50 mph gusts) which created a fast moving inferno. In some areas the fire was so intense - forest and park service report -  all the humis layer was burned and nothing but charred dirt left. They say some areas may take 80 years to regenerate.

Rich - so we are all invited for waffles with our coffee???? Dinner

Have a trip to Omaha this week. Leaving Thurs and back Sunday.

Have a great evening what is left of it! Have a great day tomorrow!

Regards, Roy

Good evening, A pretty nice day today, about 80 with mostly sunny.  I think I hear it rumbling now (I'm in the basement on the computer so hard to tell) we are supposed to get some thunder storms over night.

Spent the day at the RR Museum of PA.  Not a lot of people there today as the Easter vacations are mostly over for the school kids and the family vacations have not started yet.  Also with all of the construction going on for the HVAC work only about 2/3 of the Museum is accessible at any given time.  As word of this spreads I'm sure attendance will suffer since the state will not permit a reduction in admission fees.  How bone headed can you be? Bang Head

Did meet some nice people and some great kids today.

Evenin' All.

Wow, looks like the Easties and MidWesties gettin hammered again. Hang tuff y'all.

Rich, Bravo on the waffle iron. I have the "traditional" style that gets quite a bit of use, especially when the munchkin is here for breakfast as well as dinner sometimes. His fav, as well as mine, is to crumble crispy bacon into the batter. Dinner

Jack, Enjoy the "TurtleBurgers". Chef

Was visiting the other site and saw a news bite about the museum where Spankybird has been spending quite a bit of time. Not good. Sad Here's the link: http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/news/local_news/Mentor-model-railroad-museum-in-danger-of-closing

Good afternoon everyone.  Currently watching "Greatest Tank battles", this episode is on the Battle of the Bulge.  What these guys had to endure...something else...no wonder they are known as the Greatest Generation.

Brent, yeah, we have some concerns.  Are working on a lawyer to make sure everything goes well.  One caveat is that we know of a couple who have been trying to adopt for some time.  We may try to facilitate that, but I will support whatever my wife's decision is.  If not, we will proceed towards the adoption.  The mother is currently in a Methadone program.

Doug, I will get the URL for you.  I am not sure as I have never gone there.  I always get to either be there, or have a DVD made of services I either miss or want to see again.  They are great about providing free ones to those who work for  either the Media Team, or for Wee Care.  The main web site is:

  http://www.sherwoodbaptist.net/templates/cussherwoodbc/default.asp?id=33770

Jack, I really do miss your "cliff notes" for when I reply to this site.  Reminds me of what I have read over the last few pages.  Hope that you are doing well up there.  It is currently in the 80s here.

Joe, I don't think I will be able to make it.  We have been "volunteered" for a few things this weekend and next week I am on call.   If I can, I will try to break away, but it doesn't look promising.

Going to take my son to get a hair cut today.  Daughter has ballet, so we may do a little shopping for Mother's Day.

God BLess,
Dennis

Lunch Time,

Beautiful Day, Sunny, Warm but a bit windy.

Laz, Brent: Nice going with the Southerner with shoes.

Brent: Progress on the adoption, nice

Doug M: Gas: I paid $3.69 this morning. It went up $.08 this week. On the Mini Van. Check the strut towers for rust through. We had a few we had to junk. Chrysler has a TSB out on them.

RI Jack: Burger Night, Great Idea. AF53, What do you think? Burgers/Beer/Fire?

SJ: Great dental news. I hear that you are one of the original Crest Kids. AF53, If I am not mistaken, was one of Doray's Grammar School Classes involved in one of the studies? Now she uses that noisey electronic gizmo and I still get better check ups than her.

Back to work,

John

Good morning

52/70 forecast is for storms.

Well I made it safely out of the dentist, no returns for blasting. Two of the boys have football practice this afternoon but everything is wet and storms will put an end to that for the day. Yea this site worked ok for a couple nights and then back to sloooow again. I don't know anything about computer's but I do know it has to be the server...so they should stop blaming the forum members. Hey other sites work with pictures and pages of threads...S.J.

8n,

I am still working on that, but I am at a standstill until I get the parts.

Brutus,

Sorry I didn't see your message on Sunday.  Thanks.  I am really into this new Mortal Kombat right now.

RT,

The 022 motor that I got from our friends at M&W actually worked well right out of the box.Surprise  Amazing.  I wanted to see if this was a fluke, so I picked up a boxed 155 RInging Signal (too good of a deal given condition to pass up) yesterday.

Brent,

If you'd happen to be looking for a game for your PS3, Mortal Kombat would be a good choice since you said that you wanted a game that is similar to older games.

I was going to post on Easter, but mine started to go in the same direction as Fife's.[tdown]  Then I started to think about Christmas.  Between my three cousins, all five of their kids are under 3.  Things could get interesting.

Good Mornin' Ya'll From Foggy Taxachusetts,

Typical April.....overcast and 45 now, rain for the remainder of the week, temps may hit mid 50s today and the 60s later in the week.  The grass has greened up and is growing, but I can't mow in the rain.

Finally caught up on 11 days worth of Pot posts I missed while on our road trip to Chicago and back.  I hope I didn't miss anyone or anything.

Having a houseful over Saturday evening for "Burger Night."  Dinner  We launched this once-a-month get together two months ago, set up on a rotational basis with friends.  Kids are a requisite welcome, so there are no impediments to attendance.  The host provides the burgers, fries, buns, condiments, and does the grilling.  Everyone brings something to fill out the food, goodies, and beverage menu.  We started this because it seemed our friends were getting trapped by finances, life's responsibilities, and were losing touch.  Sure, the crowd is mixed and varied.  The next host is appointed/volunteered/announced at the gathering with the exact day/date.  And the inventive burger concoctions so far are interesting (hot dogs on tap for the finicky, adults and little ones).  Simple, inexpensive, and a good time for all.  And there are plenty of adults to police maintain order amongst the little ones.  I have one problem:  my 11 year old Weber gas grill has given up the ghost, and I need to buy another one by Saturday. Hmm

Brent.......following your good news, you and Susan will remain in my prayers.  My Dad used to say that the things in life that come to mean the most to us are the ones that were the most difficult to achieve.

LAZ, CHIEF, AND I all have wives with the same name.  Pam.  Who says HE/SHE doesn't have a sense of humor?

Chief.....how does Pam feel about retirement?  It's a two edged sword.  She'll have to spend more time with you.  Whistling  I was glad to hear you dodged a bullet with those storms last week.....they looked absolutely nasty on the news.

Dennis.......at this rate you may have to "donate" train space to accomodate the possible family addition!  Re the kids understanding why their parents work so hard.....you reap what you sew, and your kids learn so much from you and your wife.  You are obviously an expert at time management!

Brutus.....will you and DougM PLEASE redirect those incoming storms off to the South?  I am beginning to feel like a duck out my way.  Was glad to read that Char is doing fine after last week's "scare."  Prayers continue, brother.  Hope your Dad's knee is coming along nicely as well.

Laz.....it is comforting to read how well Minnie has assimilated into your family and your lifestyle.  She must be having a ball!  A tired dog is a good dog.  We are experiencing a rash of coyote attacks up my way as dogs and cats are becoming targets in some clever ways.  In many instances these packs watch the outdoor routine, then send out a decoy to lure the dogs and cats into an ambush.

RaySP.......hope your bronchitis is clearing up nicely.  Thankfully, you seemed to have jumped on this early.  Me?  I and my wife have learned the hard way that waiting for some of these medical things to clear up all by themselves is not always the best choice.  Prayers your recovery continues.

Fife.....how on earth did you reach 5,000 posts?  Congratulations on this milestone.  I always enjoy the stuff you write because it makes me either laugh or think.  And at my age, I need all of the mental stimulation I can get.

DougM.......congratulations to you and your better half on anniversary #22, a testament to your good fortune and to the wifey's saintly patience.  Smile, Wink & Grin

JoeyD and HudsonJohn.......the Red Sox is what happened to the Yankees  Laugh  Suddenly the lousiest team in baseball has become something else.

To all of the Yorkies.....was glad you all had a fun and memorable time together.  The bail bondsman business in the York area must have been quite busy.  Whistling

8N.....was glad to hear that your wife's obstacles with her knee recovery continue to be overcome one item at a time.  Having had 3 full blown arthrotomies on one knee, I know something about those scar tissue adhesions.....just not to her extent.  Prayers that she doesn't become discouraged, takes the long term view, and that her progress continues unabated.  If I had a truck and lived near you, I would gladly help you take a drive to swap out that balky, range-of-motion machine.

AF Ray........gall bladder surgery, no fun.  Prayers your recovery continues.  Hope you have picked out some good tatoos to cover up those scars.....maybe a train layout motiff.  Just don't ask Brent for advice on that one because he'll be changing the layout design; and before you know it, your whole body will be covered.

HudsonJohn.......hope your son's thumb injury is healing well and that he has no aftereffects.  Table saws strike again.

Roy.......the news media accounts of the Texas fires have been sobering.  I can't imagine losing my home and all of our keepsakes to a fire like that.  Whenever I start to grouse about the weather up my way I have to remind myself that on the whole I am lucky to live somewhere where the extremes are not so extreme on a relative basis.  Snow and cold can be managed.  Fires, not very much.

SJ........you had me laughing out loud with your story of how your wifey locked her keys in the car with the engine running, with the spare set of keys tucked safely into her purse, also locked safely in the car.  We have ONSTAR on our GM vehicle, and they can unlock your vehicle for you with just a phone call.  But I have steadfastly balked at paying them a couple hundred bucks a month to activate the service.

JohnBaker........thanks for your well wishes that we Potters across the pond "weather" the "weather" here.  Crushing rains, tornadoes, flooding, wildfires.  No fun for many, tragic for some.  Did you receive your invitation to the royal wedding?

MikeC.......you are ahead of the game.  I still have boxes of stuff sitting in my basement from when I cleared out my folks' homestead.

Gotta run to go out gas grill shopping, then figure out how to get it home already assembled without paying an arm and a leg for home delivery charges.

Jack.

IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.

Aloha all. More rain this am but at least it's 61! Bride gave me an anniversary gift of membership at the Art Institute so I get to go at lunchtime again - Hurray!   Banks, sniff, sniff, I'm so proud of...paying the highest gas price in our great nation. Let's see, what did I pay lately? (I try not to look at the counter.) I think it was 4.49... Ray, maybe somethings changing in MLB. The Cubs are flogging a 4 for $40 plan for an April / May game - 4 tix, 4 hot dogs and 4 beverages...  Jack, I thought I felt a disturbance in the Force a few weeks ago. Whenever you drop off the Pot, you're sneaking back into Illinois. Your inlaws probably live only 20 min. away. Big Smile Dennis, can you email me wth the URL for your church vid feed. I think I have it right. RT, I feel your pain. Going to take the Dodge minivan in this week to get it fixed up for summer. It needs a lot of work at 140K.

Mornin' boys.  Breezy and mild here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  It was a bit muggy overnight, which affected our sleep. Zzz  SWMBO already clamoring for the AC unit (and I'm not talking SD70...)

Back to work this afternoon.  Big funeral tomorrow for past Mayor/Governor.

Wifey just asked what SWMBO means...Gotta run! Zip it!

BUCKEYE, you saw one Southerner with shoes on?  WOW!!!

Yes, but they were on the wrong feet! Surprise

---
Mornin' Fellas.

Thanks for the prayers on the adoption! They have been working. Dennis - hope things turn out for the best for you. We almost had a situation similiar to that, but the birth mother ended up being a druggie and we decided not to take that much risk. So incredibly sad what some people subject their children to. Sad

I simply can't get on this site at nite! And if Kalmbach isn't careful they are going to lose some of their audience. I also don't believe their claims that it is inline photos causing the problems. The ONLY way that would be an issue is if they don't have enough bandwidth to retrieve the images from the hosting server.

Got home last night and found one of the new valves in the bathroom has a slow leak... so I finished the tub/shower rough-in and that should solve that issue. I hate having a leaky valve, but it is better than having to shut off the water to the whole house to fix something at the tub/shower. I installed them on our roman tub and shower in the master bath when I remodeled it a few years ago. Never understood why they don't do this... they put them on vanities, kitchen sinks, and toilets but not tubs and showers... Confused

Noticed the grass is getting taller so looks like a trip around the property on the riding mower is in order.

Hi GUYZ,

71 here to get to 80 again.  Got my grass cut for the fist time yesterday and did the weed pulling.  Ran three miles, biked 4 miles and got truck and Jeep inspected.  Had my buddy MINNIE outside with me all day, she loved it.  Caught a goldfish out of the pond, but didn't eat it.

BUCKEYE, you saw one Southerner with shoes on?  WOW!!!

Stay frosty,

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a beautiful, sunny 70 degrees. Going up to 80 today with sunshine. ( If it doesn't rain).

Today is a busy day. Lots of chores to do and a project to work on. I have some paperwork to do too. Maybe, later, a short nap.

Dining car is here with the usual for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Chuck

Good Morning,

Busy night last night. Wife has a problem with a new freezer at the ice cream shop. Had the help call after coming home from the Fire House and starting to get on the Tardis. The guy is coming this morning to look at it. Brand new under warranty.

RI Jack, May your MIL recover from the ankle wound.

RT, Look at the positive, the truck is fixed. Cheaper than a new one.

Buckeye, Thanks for rescueing spring.

SJ, Good news from the Doc.

Traindood, AF53, What happened to the Yanks???

Time for the Safety Huddle,

John

Good morning all,

It is rainy in SE Indiana.  It was a good day at work.  Busy night with trash hauling.  Regular fare for breakfast.  TBIL after "Glee".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
