Roy - Hope you're feeling yourself soon.
.
cnw1995Roy, I've heard some interesting stories about your latest trip to Vegas...
Doug - that was some other Roy......
Prayers for SJ and thanks to all for the updates!
Not feeling well myself still and yesterday was not the greatest.
Cloudy here - mybe 70 today. Predicting close to 90 for weekend - ugh - too soon for that.
Re XP and Win7. I do not know why but the Win7 machines here are struggling with Internet Explorer. One machine now only works with IE 64 bit even though it worked for months with IE. Ran all the updates, etc., sort of fixed one and then it started fouling up again. There is some incompatibility that has occured due to some update in either Win7 or IE.
Have a great day all!
Regards, Roy
Update on SJ. I just got off the phone with him. They were going to send him home today, but instead have decided to keep him overnight again and run an EEG today.
He sounded good on the phone.

Blueberryhill RR Hmmmmm,,,,,It seems very strange, that certain people ( Pat & Chief), who eat grits and live in Suthern swamps, would call decent, loving, very intelligent, NORMAL people, such us Northerners, things like "not normal". If it wasn't for us deporting your ancestors from the Northern prisons, to the Suthern swamps, you would have no place to live at all. You should be thankful to us.

Doug, didn't know you were an old rail. Yes, the engineers place on a yard job was the best place to be in bad weather. The thread I saw about the ditch lights was under a heading about the NS executive F units from WBB on the OGR forum. I will look again and see if I can get the name of the company that makes the flashing lights if you would like to know.
SJ, hope you are feeling better by now. Somehow, I missed it when you went to the hospital. Take care of yourself.
RockIsland52 Amusing story for the day. Last night the wife for some reason got the bright idea that it would be good if I were to take a snow shovel and spread out the remaining two fast-receding snow mounds which are now down under 1.5' x 8'. I think it would be better to let a higher power take care of them.

I stopped wondering how or why women come up with these ideas... When TheQ makes these 'suggestions' I simply look at her and say 'And YOU have a PhD? Here's your sign.'Put a little more spackle on the curved bridge last night... need to test fit it again to see if I need to add more filler under a couple support columns. Finding new interesting uses for wax paper. It does an excellent job keeping spackle from adhering to ceiling tiles!
Good morning all,
I had no time to past yesterday as I entertained my boss all day and night. He was in town from TX. He is a good guy and a good leader so it was a pleasant day. However, I ate out for breakfast, lunch, and dinner which about did me in. My wife is a great cook and eating out that much is not enjoyable. It is going to hit 75 today and it is sunny.
Charlie, Doug, and Brutus - Thanks for updates on SJ.
Doug - I'm not sure what you meant by the Lionel Kindle question? Was that meant for someone else?
Good day,
Joe
Morning all. Back from dentist. Chilly and rainy. Not cold though. Off to day long meetings. Back tonight.

Good Mornin' Ya'll From Chilly and Rainy Taxachussetts,
Thanks guys for the updates about SJ. Too bad he doesn't have a laptop during his incarceration. He must be bored out of his Johnny unless they are letting him wear his Spyderman PJs.
Rain forecast for the next couple of days, plus we might hit mid 50s. I'll take it! Here in the Northeast the gound is saturated plus the rivers and streams are still way too high. It won't take something much out of the ordinary for this time of year to create flooding havoc.
Later, gang.

IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Aloha. A sunny and supposedly warmer day today. Still it is 'cooler by the lake' downtown.Looking forward to wandering around the neighborhood at lunchtime.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It's a cloudy 46 degrees. Going up to 54 today with a chance of rain. We need sunshine.
Today is an easy day. I have the usual chores to do and a small project to work on. I will relax the rest of the day. Maybe run trains.
Dining car is here and has Cheerios for breakfast. Then, it is off to all "Points West".
SJ.... Prayers out for your speedy recovery.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.
Chuck
Hi GUYZ,
Rainy here today to clear later. Glad to here SIR JAMES is on the mend. FIFE you hit it right on with the pic. You saw that image the first time we met SIR JAMES in YORK.
SIR JAMES gotta get well for the YORK photo op.

Good Morning from Soggy Jersey,
Raining, 40 and not getting much warmer.
Met with the financial planner last night. He said that I look good to retire when I want to. We meet in 2 weeks in 2 weeks with a plan.
SJ, Get well soon. I had an extra helping of banilla last night.
AF53, Ray, we better keep an eye on Cathy Jean. She may be a spy for the Chief and Pat. Remember, her family claims to be direct descendants of Robert E. Lee. They were probably banished to the Jersey Pine Barrens.

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 50s. Good news so far about SJ. Not so good practice sessions from Alabama for AJ Foyt racing at the Open Test for Indycar. Slightly off the pace. Much better day at work Tuesday. Lucas has one job for the summer and is looking for second one. Will be working for same people as my dad did. Somehow that is appropriate. Watched Glee and V. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL any time and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,

Good one Fife! I talked to Lady James and got the scoop on SJ, then called and talked to him at the hospital. He sounded good on the phone and was cracking jokes just like normal. He's looking forward to getting out of the hospital and hopeful they will find out what happened. Lady J and I looked all over last night for the key to the banilla locker, but no luck. He might have it secreted on his body somewhere? We'll have to ask his bath-nurse
Tardis is ready - let's hit it!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Rest well SJ -- the forum is in good hands, Chuck is in charge and doing an outstanding job

So many roads, so little time.
Guys, I visited with SJ at the hospital tonight. I thought he looked pretty good. No definitive news on the cause has been delivered yet.
His spirits were lifted by all of you! This is a great bunch.

Just got off the phone with SJ in the hospital. Thanks to Brutus for the number. He said to say hi and to tell you that they're still running tests - he still doesn't feel well.
Ray,
I was amazed when I first saw them. Hopefully they won't encounter some of the issues we do w/TMCC & DCS. At least when I would be working the humpyard in Cincy I got to stay "hi-n-dry" in the cab and not on the ground. Don't think I'd want to be that guy working by himself in that situation, railyards are hazardous enuff w/o having to be like a centipede in sack race.
Wonder if Lionel or Atlas pieces/parts could be used for operating ditch lights, although the flashing aspect mite be difficult to do.

SJ - Hope you feel better soon.
Good morning all, just checking in. Checked with Justrains for my WBB Norfolk Southern Executive F unit order for delivery date. They just said "soon". I read on another forum that some guy is going to use some wig wag flashing lights made by another company to install as ditch lights on the WBB model which as delivered only has decals to represent the ditch lights. That sounds like fun. I don't think MTH had ditch lights either.
Taking last dose of prednisone today and will see doctor tomorrow. Leg pain seems gone now and I don't plan on taking anymore of that medicine. Too many possible side effects.
Need to go to mall today and look for new spring shirts. I have been growing out of my old ones if you know what I mean.
#2 son returned home last night from trip to "Winter Rail" in Stockton. Read an interesting article in latest Railfan and Railroad magazine about use of remote control engines
on yard jobs. Is it safe? It depends on who you ask. Studies by the railroad companies suggest that it is. Independent sources have mixed opinions about it. As a retired railroad engineer, all I can say is that I am glad it is not me out there now. The switchmen's union (UTU) agreed to the remotes only with two man crews but now the railroad companies are doing it with just one man in some places. That means one guy has to run around with a control pack strapped on him like rocket man controlling the engine and making couplings while looking out for hazards from other people, places and things, not to mention keeping up with yardmasters instructions, reading bulletins, watching out for cars rolling back that have been pushed into tracks ahead of you. etc etc. Talk about being as busy as a one armed paper hanger? Railroading as we remember it, is just a memory now. At least my O gauge trains are still fun.
later,
Almost forgot you, Roy. You need our sarcastic get-well wishes too! Hope you are feeling better!
Mornin' Y'all.
SJ- Get well soon, us old geezers gotta stick together in hopes of keeping these young whipper-snappers in line. No more Sat. & Sun. parties, only Sat. or Sun.
Spent part of yesterday out in the sun doing some weeding and planting. Eventually my helper, Mr Itis, decided it was time to call it a day.
Gotta go refil the just way to early for maybe for lunch.

Morning. Chilly and suppose to be raining. Just finished another Mayor's show video. Seems my Mayor's Shows are viewed by more people than any other Mayor's show here. TV guy says I make them interesting and do not sit behind a desk and tell what the Town Board just did like the other Mayors.
Off to Hunters' Haven and the pond. Then BoJangles for lunch.
Later.
