Yankee snohio cannon has "petered" out.  Temps still above freezing.  Felt a little icey stuff falling for a few seconds when dogs were out.  Radar shows it missing us.  Might be hittng Pat.  Off to bed.

Evenin' All.

Beautiful day here, nothing but sun and blue skies. Strong Santa Ana winds all day, still blowing tonite. Spent most all day pulling up brick sidewalk, gophers had it so torn up I was concerned about anybody trying to use it. Now just have to clean up the mortar that was chipped off, and see if I can redo the walk a little more "gopher proof". Should have poured cement and topped it with half-bricks.

Saw where Lionel has the delivery schedule up for the RTR "11" up, my halloween pre-orders "should" ship in May/June/July. WhistlingWhistlingWhistling

Good morning all,

It is very cold in SE Indiana, but should get above freezing by the weekend.  Caregiver gave us full report on the first night with dad.  I think we have a good one.  Got some equipment for him to make life easier.  Very busy at work.  Not much else going on.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.  I spent some time looking at Lionel R-T-R catalog last night.  May get a Halloween item.

Keep on training,

Hi GUYZ,

Little warmer here at 18 to get to 26.  Colder tonite.

ROY, I thought TEXASS is suppose to be warm?  WOW some weather you got there.  Might be payback for what JERRY JONES did to all those ticket holders?  Now for the lawsuit?

Stay frosty,

OH NO!!!  Chuck, STOP IT.  Suddenly snohio falling hard and everything is white except the pavement.  Angry

Going into the 60's by Saturday.  First blast missed us and now this sneak attack.  Well, drink coffee and watch TV.  Later, move all the rest of the ammo, gun cleaning supplies and etc to the gun safe.  All the rooms are finished.  That is after three trips to Lowes with bad rope lights.  Switched to a 3' florscent tube [the new bright kind] fixture over the door way.  Actually better as it lights the whole safe.

Coffee and watch it snow.

PS: Mike, hope all goes well with you and family.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a clear, blue sky day. Sun is shining. Only problem is that it is 4 degrees. No new snow. All of that went south.

Not much going on today except the usual chores and such. Might do some reading. Nap later.

Chief...Now you can build a snowman.

Dining car is here with the usual breakfast.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Evening All !  Morning All !  (Tried posting last night, but the server was down.)

Had ANOTHER good day!  As Doug said above, we had a windy day. Kinda wiped out all the pool cleaning I did earlier this week.  They are a lot of Flowering Plum trees in the area, and it looked like it was snowing.  Now I have all these thousands of small white flowers floating in the pool.  Will most likely get saturated, sink, picked up by the vacuum and clog the filter again.  Weather report just indicated that we should experience 78 to 80 deg for the next couple of days.  (SubmmBob, better take your bathing suit and some sunscreen and start working on the tan.)

The Honda is still in the Car Spa going through all the treatments.  Bad news is I havn't got a quote yet on the cost of this stay.  I'm not sure I reallywant to know.  Did get another computer back today, had to reload the OS, and of course that required Formatting the HD.  So trying to figure out what was lost.  Only one more to go, probably Friday.

Thanks to all of you guys who made it last night.  Really enjoyed it.  Hope the Tardis didn't get damaged by the pole.  If however was driving was paying attention to the elevation and not just the circular pattern it would have helped.  She wasn't hurt but wasn't ha[[y about the wardrobe damage.  Probably should consider putting some TFR or Heat Sesnors for detecting close nearby objects.

Going to make a trip out to Hemet tomorrow to visit a not so local LTS.  going to check out some landscaping ideas.  Here is what is currently planned, (Remember, Civil War era).

Looking forward to doing the Landsacpping.

There were a LOT of other things I wanted to post on, but forgot them.

Good morning all,

It was -11 when I woke up this morning and the windchill brought it down to -24.  The kids do not have school today, but I will be going into work shortly.  We had blueberry-walnut pancakes and bacon for breakfast.

Good day,

Still clear and colder here by about 10 degrees, relative to the seasonal highs and lows.  Down to 12 last night.  Emailed Al Gore about global cooling, no response.  Might dip below 5 tonight and "snow showers" forecast for the weekend.  What are snow showers?  Is that like rain flurries? Bang Head

NavyJack........maybe I am out of touch with this, but $16K sounds a tad steep to me for a 14' X 35' deck, even built from scratch, unless it is contructed with composites.  Maybe the price is jacked for the tear down and haul away. Does this include new footings?  What material for decking and railings?  In my neck of the woods, the carpenters are pounding the pavement looking for work.

Later, gang.

I would say so seeing that my sunroom (14x16)/screened porch (16x16) project only cost us about $35,000! Now a lot of that work was done by myself and family and friends.

The Q was out of town last night but I didn't get anything done in the train room because I watched Iron Man 2 with the home entertainment center set at 'blow the windows out of the house'! Big Smile Was lots of fun... the cats didn't even bother me... think they were hiding from the noise!

Don,

That guy does some great work, assuming it is the shop I am thinking of. At our last B-B-Q in San Marcos he brought down an HO scale laser cut model of the San Bernadino Station, it would have been huge by "O" standards but this was done in HO.

Chief, The gophers here are so bad that the only thing they don't eat is concrete, the coyotes disappeared and the gophers took over. The owls, redtail hawks and cats haven't put a dent in the gopher population. Most everything has to be grown in pots.

Need to head to the train room and figure-out what to pack for tomorrow.

Have fun all !

p.s._Watch out for frostbite in those extremely cold temps.

Lunchtime,

It looks like most of us are in a for a cold day and night. The good part is that it is not windy here and there is no snow in the forecast.

Navyjack, look at the bright side, you got a $16,000 deck for $15,000.

Don, great looking layout.

Thoughts and prayers for all in need.

Keep Warm,

John - That would be a different Box Car that came today at your house. The item we were going to work on at your house came yesterday to my house. Again, the issue, I believe is with Ebay. They allow you an alternate address for shipping but, from what RT has said, (correct me if I'm wrong RT) is that Ebay doesn't always give out, as a confirmed address, your alternate one. Bang Head

Aloha all. It easily was -21 overnight yesterday, SJ. Heck, it was still - 15 at 6 o'clock this morning. All without windchill. But it's warming up. Supposed to even hit mid-30s by Sunday. Folks will be walking around without coats - funny how the body adjusts.

Lotsa troubleshooting today. Our network folks switched DHCP servers a few days ago without telling anyone - so for the past few days, all our equipment has been dropping off the network because of some timing issues with the dynamic IPs. Spent all day figuring this out without finding anyone who in five minutes could've told me about this. Bang Head  Ah well. Maybe run trains later tonight?

Icey cold here in Saint Louis, but nothing like you got in Chi-town, Doug.  I think we hit 29 today?  We are supposed to get up to 60 next week.  teaching a small class at work this week and next; but, scheduled no training Monday so I can take wife to the doctor and Tuesday as she has dental surgery scheduled to cut out a broken wisdom tooth.  Still watching The Cape on dvr, but I can't decide if this show is good or not as yet.  The last episode I watched involved a fight on a train that was pretty well done.

Wife played a good joke on our daughter a few minutes ago.  This episode taped during the ice/snow storms last week and has a school closing scroll at the bottom.  Char says - LOOK!  School closed!  Daughter looked up in time to see it and jumped up.  Then wife started laughing and gave it away! Laugh

Recent American Pickers had a guy with a big collection of steam engines, steam tractors, and some actual rolling stock and small locomotives - very cool Thumbs Up

TARDIS is ready, Freddy - icecream would be great, so let's hit the road!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good evening all,

It is going to be about 6 degrees overnight with subzero wind-chill.  It will warm up the next couple of days and it will be in the 60s Sunday and Monday - this OK weather is crazy.

We had lasagna for dinner, and not it's time to enjoy a fresh batch of homemade banilla.  I did not run trains tonight; been tending to under-the-weather children.  I did watch most of Rocky IV.

Good night,

Joe

Evening all!

Demay (Joe) - the news here today said it hit -17 in Enid last night and a city in eastern Okie hit -30, coldest temp ever recorded in the state. Ouch! Hope the little ones get well quick!

Starting to warm up here and will hit 60/70 by the weekend!

You can get American Pickers episodes without commercials on the History Channel website if you do not mind watching them on your PC (and you have a decent internet speed). Our AT&T cable service has the episodes a few days later under the Free on Demand section. CBS also puts all their good shows on the Free on Demand. Discovery Channel does some of their shows. Nice as no commercials or minimal commercials.

Buckeye - What trains will be running on the Buckeye RugRat Runner Railroad?

Don B - like the track plan. Have fun!

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps near 30 today.  Spent last night running after stuff for dad and other details.  I really hope things get settled down.  Wife's checkup went well yesterday.  Going to take a while for this to heal, but there is progress.  They are prescribing morphine for dad to ease the pain.  I hope it works as it did little for me.  Hospice meeting went well.  I know it is Valentine's Day weekend, but somehow I do not believe we will be celebrating much.  Both of us are too tired.  I had a donut along with the regular fare for breakfast on the dining car before sending it on to "Points East".   TBIL anytime and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

A bit of news post-Super Bowl - such a sad story...

A woman had 50 yard line tickets for the Super Bowl. As she sat down, a man came along and asked  her if anyone is sitting in the seat next to her.

"No," she said, "the seat is empty."

"This is incredible," said the man. "Who in their  right mind would have a seat like this for the Super Bowl, the biggest sporting event in the world, and not use it?"

Somberly, the woman  says, "Well... the seat actually belongs to me. I was supposed to come here with my husband, but he passed away. This is the first Super Bowl we have not been to together since we got married in 1967."

"Oh I'm sorry to hear that, that's terrible. But couldn't you find someone else - a friend or relative or even a neighbor to take the seat?"

The woman shakes her head, "No, they're all at the funeral."
