Aloha. Snowy here in downtown. Only a inch or so at the homestead. We'll see how much falls before I get home tonight. Looks like a mix of ugly weather all week. Ah well. Condolences on your aunt, Brutus.  Is Buckeye still celebrating?

Mornin' Fellas

JT - You could have one of them if you ramp up your stalking efforts regarding Ms Boysenberry! Surprise

I am really upset with Mr Murphy and his accursed Law! On Sunday I woke up, watched the news, found out they were calling for <1" of crap snow last night through this morning, so I put the snowthrower in the shed, woke up yesterday and watched the news, found out they 'revised' the forecast and we were to get 4-6"... The Q looks at me, smiles, and says 'Looks like you're getting the snowthrower out!' Bang Head Wake up this morning to 8" of crap snow.

Stopped at a local wine and spirit shop on Saturday. Asked if they could get my favorite rum... they look it up in the book... $75.00 per 750ml THEIR COST... they would sell it for $100 per 750ml!!!! But they could get me a case for $1,000.00. Looks like I need to revert back to Plan M or plan another trip to Antigua!

Morning all!

Sunny and 46 this morning. Might hit 60 today, then warms up for the rest of the week. Weeds are starting to grow with all the warm weather we had the past 7 days.

Have a trip to Billings, MT, this week but they have snow predicted every day, so I do not know if the trip will be affected or not. The high temps are 0 - 3.

Daughter drama last light. Son drama also. It never stops.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Regards, Roy

PS:  Warren County [Lake Gaston area] north of us has closed schools today.  Smoke left from big forest fires.

MikeC.......I have been off the air since Friday and just read your sad news of your Dad's passing on Sunday.  Please accept my humble condolences for your loss and continued prayers for you and your family.  God has welcomed your Dad into a far better place, and now he along with your Mom await the day when you will be with them again.  I will join the others in responding to your last wish for your Dad, one last blast of the train whistle as a final salute to him and his life.

Good morning all,

It's been a few days since I last posted: I have been busy with house chores and then the site was down.  I read where some of you are enjoying some wonderful winter weather.  Our spring-like temps went away Sunday when it dropped back down into the 40s and yesterday it hit the low-50s.  I believe today's high is in the low-60s so it is warming up again.

On Saturday we went to a model train show in Stillwater.  It was small, but a bit larger than I expected.  There were two club operating layouts on display: one G and one N.  I have seen them before at the OKC and Tulsa shows.  They are very nicely done layouts.  I was only at the show for an hour or so and did not buy anything.  I believe there were some deals to be had, but I was specifically shopping for buildings or Fastrack turnouts.  The only buildings at the show were Plasticville: the new ones were overpriced and the used ones needed a great deal of work.  No one had any Fastrack turnouts for sale.  Oh well, there is another show next month here in Enid.

On Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, I spent parts of those days cleaning the carpet, rugs, and van floor mats with a Bissell cleaner.  It was a slow process due to the many required water changes, but the result it nice and the wife is happy.  Needless to say I did not accomplish any layout work this past week, but at least I ran trains a couple of the days.

MIke C. - I'm sorry for the loss of your dad; I hope you and your family are coping well.  I blew the whistle and horn on my engines for him last night.

Brutus - Please accept my condolences on the loss of your aunt.

Good day,

Joe

Good Morning All

Nothing much going on here. Smile  Had a good day yesterday, got the computers all loaded with correct software, MOWED THE LAWN, and did some maintenance on various train engines.  I have these labels I put on each piece as to when the maintence is down, surprised that a number of them was last done 3 years ago.  Need to watch that.

Going to lay track today, so hopefully that will go down good.  Chris is working 12 hour days at the Academy, only 1 week left.

Sad about those hostages being killed, but they sure didn't belong there!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Looking Forward to York !!!!

Another six inches of snow here in Pennsylvania.  The snow blower is getting a real workout this year.  After the 65 degree weather we had last week, seeing the lawn and driveway covered in the white stuff again is depressing.  And more is predicted as the week progresses.

Dead monitor on one of the computers, which means a $150 trip to Wang-Mart for a new one.  In the meantime, I can at least still VNC into it from one of the other machines.  And my 2026 seems to have decided to join in the fun, with a bad E-unit drum.  Looks like another order to the Train Tender is on the way.

Well, I'm too happy with the things I've got to get too upset over the little things that go wrong.

Lunch Time,

Not a bad morning. So far everything is going smooth. I am sure that it will change soon.

Laz, When you have a delayed opening because of snow, I get an "Advaced Start".

Traindood, You got hit with the snow over the weekend, I got a few inches last night. I work 50 miles North of where I live and we have nothing here.

Don, Mowing grass in February, at least that is 1 chore that I do not miss in the winter. Snow removal and firewood took it's place.

Arkady, That 65 degree weather was a real tease. Beware of March.

Back to work, Enjoy the day,

John

D.Baker, did I hear looking forward to York, meaning you are going?  Wish I could go with you but I have health issues.  I used to go once a year and sometimes twice.  Great experience.  When I was going, they didn't have those things like meetings in the grandstand or Thursday at Friday's get together with forum members.  I haven't been since they added the extra day at York.  That sort of killed the bandit meets although a few survive but nothing like it used to be.  I liked the bandits as much as the TCA show.  Still fooling around with my bad order MTH E6 units ( bad board I think).  RAK is going to look at it and if all else fails, I might send it to J&W Electronics for repair.  Not happy with local place.

Sadhello guys, found a leak in the garage in the roof which was only five years old.  more snow load damage.  called insurance company added it to claim. i hate to say it but it will probably have cost the insurance company 45k.  i dont care much as ins co has cashed in plenty of our premiums through the years.  won walthers laredo depot on ebay.  same color as signal tower, handcar shed and crossing shed i won previously.  they are cool buildings for being ready made. too bad walthers quit making o scale buildings. if you need a well detailed small station the walthers one is great and if you hold out you can get one for around 20 bucks. grandson caught 5 walleyes and 2 big northerns sunday.  he also got two coons with my henry 30/30. he said grampa can you let me have it someday. guess what i told him. gigi is making a big fish dinner friday.  the walleyes went 18 to 26 inches long and the northerns were 30 and 32 inches long.  lots of good fish. we will enjoy them with corn relish and hush puppies. navyjack

Brent,

I am working on that, but the snow made it impossible for me to go anywhere today.

Finally got the 2500 series cars listed.  Hopefully they'll sell so they aren't in my way any longer.  I will probably be listing more as this stuff is starting to overflow into my daily space and I'd like to get rid of the impulse buys anyway.

Well, just about the end of the week long shift for us. We will be headed home in about an hour. Got some decent weather today, so we even got some time in on the high frequency receiver.

NavyJack - sounds like your grandson got quite the haul.

Brutus - sorry to hear about your aunt.

I'll check back in from Tucson. Hope everyone has a good evening.

Good Evening from the Jersey Shore,

Temps are dropping into the teens. Almost all of the "blizzard" is gone.

Fife, My niece, Meghan has to shoot, I mean photograph, (some of the folks here may get the wrong impression) the grand Opening of the New Office Depot on March 3. My wife and her are staying overnight. She is taking your suggestion and checking out the Courtyard/Marriot. Thanks again.

Navy Jack, Congrats on the E-Bay win. Your grandson is turning into quite the sportsman. It is good that all of the damage is found and repaired now.

Bob, Safe trip

Sj, Time for some banilla. Early turn in tonight.

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.

Good evening all,

It is cloudy in SE Indiana.  Had a lot of visitors at the viewing tonight.  Two of "my" soccer girls showed up with a card signed by the rest of the team.  For the newcomers here, I will have to explain about "my" soccer girls at another time.  Also, some of the people from work showed up, which surprised me since they had to drive from Indy.  I had regular fare for breakfast plus a donut.  Lucas' car is back in operation as well.  TBIL anytime.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

TARDIS is ready guys.  I was at a spelling Bee with my daughter tonight.  She did really well until she hit 'Mal-yuh-bull' as it was pronounced by the reader.  This person also asked a student to spell 'Luh-vi-thun'.  What the heck?  I was proud of her for going to district and she placed in the top 5, so she did really well.

Thursday after work I'll go to the wake in McClean IL, and then the funeral is on Friday.  Then I come back in time to take Char and the kids to the hair salon for haircuts.  I should be ready for the Tardis after all that!

NJ - it's my understanding that racoon tastes really bad unless it is prepared carefully using a pressure cooker, multiple cleanings, and then lots of bbq sauce.  I"ve had squirrel, another animal that makes dams, and some other creatures at a local charity event.

Good evening all,

I don't have much to report here.  We had a low key evening/night at home.  After dinner I played with the baby and ran trains with him and the 7y/o son.  I let the older son do most of the operations and he did very well - no pile ups.  After I read with the kids and squared them away in bed, I did some Bible study prep.  I just finished that and now it is time for bed.

Brutus - Congratulations to your daughter.  When I was in about 6th grade I represented my school in an area spelling bee.  I did okay but somehow brain farted Dunceand misspelled finance.  I think it's even funnier now since I have a BS in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance Laugh.

S.J. - I had some of the wife's homemade chocolate tonight.

Good night,

Joe

Good Evening All !

Had a great day, the track laying went very well.  Got a complete loop of 054 Ross, and Ross Bed down.  Its all tacked in place, going to connect the wiring probably Thursday.  (Taking tomorrow off as a play day.)

Glad I got the lawn mowed yesterday, we have some more rain in the forecast, and it IS still cool here!  I think it got up to 62 today.

Ray, You may want to give Chuck a call at Mizells if Richard can't get it resolved.  I've done some stuff with them and the turn around is always quick, and prices very good also.  And Denver is a lot closer than MD.  (And this isn't the best time to send anything back East, too dang cold !  The engine could come back with a case of Perma-Frost, or something.)

Yea, do plan on going to York this April, (assuming it has thawed out), Got flight, hotel arrangements made, and EVEN tickets for the Tony Lash and MTH tour.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again!

Prayers for all suffering through family losses, its never easy, losing a loved one,  but there always seems to be the right time for everything, even though we may not initially understand it..

Take care

Don

We were lucky this week in that we had rain instead of the snow that those north and east of me got.

Brutus, Mike C - condolances for your losses.

Brutus - congrats on your daughter's spelling bee.

Spent the day at the hospital today 'overseeing' my wife's knew knee installation.  They got her settled in her room about 4:30 this afternoon.  So far, so good.  The real work starts tomorrow when they get her up and walking around a bit.

All for now.
