Aloha. Grey and warm-ish - at least that's how 29 feels. Temps supposed to crash tonight, just in time for my train ride home from class - get to ride the L today to go to another campus for a meeting. Prayers for your dad, Mike C. Hope the building is repairable soon, Charlie. What's the name of your new arrival, Laz?

Morning all. Cloudy and foggy but not freezing. Off to meetings today and tonight.
LAZ, know you will enjoy playing with the new one. Finn is now a monster size boy at 9 months. He loves to catch his ball in the air. He can catch it even over his back. Only thing is he loves to do the same inside. Monster size dog jumping and turning in the house can upset things and Mom.
Hope all have a great week working and making my SS payments.
SJ, mush mush mush.
Shake and Bake, which is it this week? Bake, shake or float?
Jack, got any snow to spare?

PS: just finished watching Trains and Locamotives [DVR'd] with the GG1. Did not realize it ran as late into the 20th Centery as it did. Some good videos.

Good morning all,
It is about 33 and overcast right now. It should make it to the low-40s today. It rained a little yesterday, but it wasn't cold enough to cause any problems.
I had the usual oatmeal for breakfast.
Have a great day all,
Joe
Good morning from a cloudy Dallas Ft Worth. Temps to hit 50's today. Was supposed to be sunny?
Great train show last weekend. Lots of kids, families, and adults hanging around our modular 12 x 28 ft display with 6 trains running. Ran my Lionmaster UP Challenger and Lionmaster NYC Hudson. Gave the TMCC controller to any kid I could find. Showed them how to run it with simple instruction - "like a real locomotive engineer - if you run it off the tracks you lose your job." No pile ups as LAZ would say. Lot's of compliments from the parents along the lines of - "no one else let them touch anything - thank you!" Two 3-rail layouts at the show out of about 18 layouts - the 3-railers are the only ones that let the kids run the trains.
Haven't had time to catch up after a busy weekened and Monday. Hope all are doing well!
Regards, Roy
Hi GUYZ,
Just got done running trains for about an hour all is well in the basement. NO PILE UPs.
ROY sounded like great fun with all the kidos. Sounds like you had a blast, did you give out any engineer hats?
DOUG, M. her name is MINIE, really SKINNY MINIE. Hope she stays that way?
CHIEF, sounds like FINN should be playing for the BEARs with those over the back catches?
Check in later,
Stay frosty,

Good morning all, Went for blood work today and now unrelated a trip to the foot doctor for regular appointment.
D. Baker, let me know how you make out with the rubber trim around the windows. I have that problem with our older second car, a Buick Century. It leaks when it rains because the rubber has gone bad around the windows. I have just been covering with a tarp when it rains because we don't drive it much but would like to fix it if doesn't cost too much.

Good evening all,
It is rainy in SE Indiana. Long day again today. Sister stayed over night with dad. He was feeling much better today. Ate some food and it stayed down. Talked to doctor who ordered biopsy. Based on what he said, it does not look good for the home team. Although they will not know definitely until next Tuesday, if what they suspect is the case, then the long term prognosis is not good. I thank you all again for the thoughts and prayers. This fact alone makes this group special. I will be going to work tomorrow and then off Thursday for the ERCP. It is amazing how your life can change in just a few days time. I had cereal and a donut on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL anytime after "V", but some one else will have to drive tonight. Too emotionally spent. I hope (really hope) everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana

Home from Town Board. Popcorn and TV [DVR'd coyote shooting in AZ]. Full moon but none hawling here due to clouds and light rain.
Sleep tight.

Finally recovering from Kid's Club Fun Run yesterday, really wears out a body & mind, what little remains , trying to keep-up with those young-uns. Dentist visit today, cleaning and check-out a tooth with a part broken off. No immediate need for repair but a crown will be in the not to distant future. Unfortunately my insurance doesn't cover them.
Got a response from Lionel regarding a new motor for my B&O FT, no inventory and no alternates for it. Guess I'll check with Braseur's and send it off to them. Good shop w/good service & rates.
SirJ, Sounds like a good justification for a couple of milk shakes or malts on a daily basis to supplement the vitamin D.
Mike, Prayers from our home to yours. Family first all else is secondary.

Good evening guys. Just got home as I was doing one late case and before I could get that done, they paged me about an emergency, sooooooo, you know the drill. Finished a short time ago, but all went well.
Mike, sorry about the news on your dad. Most likely, they will scope him, followed by a modified scan where they give him medicine with a radio isotope that they watch as it progresses through the digestive system. By seeing how fast it gets to different 'zones', they can see if and where there are problems. They may also do a P.E.T. scan which detects cancer by making similar views as a CAT scan, but is designed for cancer. Before getting too far ahead on that though, you should know that they have been known to have a number of "False Positives", which means that they would have to go in and check these areas. Regardless, I will pray for your dad to have God's peace and comfort and for His guidance to the doctors treating your dad and for guidance in your family as you all face this challenge together.
Doug, thanks for the kind words. My eye is definitely returning to full strength. There is still some swelling around the orbit, but the main thing is that my vision has come back. I have been getting headaches, but then again, I have also been working long hours and doing some rather stressful cases. I will be on call for the next several days, just hope it slows down.
We have had rain for the last few days, but the temps are in the mid 60s, which is nice and our fruit trees need the drink. Have a train show this weekend....mostly HO and some over-priced junk, but one dealer is always there and it is worth it just to go for him. Regarding Charlie from ChooChoo, I agree, a very nice guy, hate to hear the news. I will add him to my prayers tonight.
Hope everyone has a great night and be mindful of all the blessings we have.Dennis

Extra prayers for you MIke and also for Dennis for physical healing. Mike - a friend of mine was diagnosed with liver cancer and took a disability retirement 7 years ago. She went through therapy for a long time and was in remission. It came back and she is just finishing therapy again (a new therapy) and it looks like it is in remission again. Even if it's the worse news, there is hope for years more together brother. Hang in there.
I called today and got my jury duty moved back and postponed. I asked them to postpone me for a couple months until my wife is on her feet and can get out and drive on her own. The ignition controller on our furnace crapped out and we had that fixed this evening - got the HVAC company to send out my buddy who works there, so we shot the breeze while he swapped it out and tested it, etc. We're going to try and get together in a couple weeks for a guy night out and check out a local micro brewery.
Nice chats tonight with SJ and Charlie. Tardis is ready and I can drive, so let's hit it.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
It is cloudy in SE Indiana. Thank you all again for the support and words of wisodm. Today will be a "normal" day for me. I am about ready to give up on "V". It is drifting away from the sci-fi aspect of it and more toward the gore, and is not very interesting anymore. I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL anytime. I hope everyone has a good day.
30 here and a bit of freezing rain. 2hr delay for me I'll take it. Going to run trains in a bit, to check an idear out. Going to pick up new pup(MINNIE) on saturday weather permitting.
MIKE C., continued prayers.
BRUTUS, gotta have those GUYZ nite out. Good choice of where to go.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a rainy 34 degrees. Going up to 36 today with cloudy skies.
Today is an easy day. I have the usual chores and then, I will spend some time in the train room. The new reefer car looks good..
Mike C,... Prayers out for your Dad.
Dining car is here and the usual is for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.
Chuck
Morning. Cloudy and rainy. Turning sunny and close to 60 DEGREES. Meeting later this afternoon.
Mike C., prayers for your Dad.
Trains later this AM.
Later.
Morning all!
Dennis - good to hear about the eye healing up! Stay on the mend!
DougdaG - Those FTs are not good about gears. Lionel had 3 slightly different versions of the mechanics in the FT power trucks so finding replacement parts is iffy. You have to get an entire motor and truck assembly. Any one part may look like it will fit but inside it may be off a few thousanths and it will not work correctly. I assume it is the spur gears on the side of the truck that wore out? Let me know what you have in a separate e-mail. I have some parts for these things lying around, but no promises. Those FTs are really good runners but you have to be diligent about inspecting the gears and keeping it lubed if one is running it continuously for hours for a show.
Mike C -
Sunny here and 40's/50's today - but colder starting tonight and into 20's by Thurs night according to weather pundits.
Have a great day all!
Aloha! continuing prayers for you and your dad, Mike. Greyish today and getting lots colder. Well, it's winter.Listened to a whole lot of Flash Gordon radio episodes on the ride in this morn.
Morning All
Mike C - Best wishes and prayers for your family and Dad !!
SPRay, Your going to love this. The window saga...
- About 2 weeks ago Chris indicated the Drivers window wouldn't work on his Honda. I seemed the motor was bad, window would lower than just a "clicking" sound. The motor and regulator are one assembly, found it online for $60. A week later it arrived.
- We scheduled a day to install it, of course I was NOT looking forward to it. Chris jumped right in and began the disassembly. He had some problem with 1 bolt, getting the wrench on the head. It was well hidden. Finally get it off, and remove the old unit. Started putting the new unit in, over an hour spent on getting this same bolt restarted. (Didn't have to be removed, just loosened.) Finally, got it in, then he had to leave for work. So I take over, the same bolt seemed tight, however I could not get the window to fit right, front edge was not snug. In checking found that the new unit was binding. Checked the old unit and it would operate fine. So took out new unit and reinstalled old unit. During that found out the problem bolt goes in a nylon clamp at the bottom of the glass. It goes into a knurled KEP nut that is pressed into the clamp. And of course it is stripped! Try to check and see if I can buy the clamp and reafix it to the window. No luck. By now we have at least 8-12 hours spent on this. So I decide to call in the professionals, find a local shop take the car there. The guy said your original regulator is fine, the window WILL have to be replaced, and the problem is caused by the rubber window rail (in the door frame) is warped causing the binding. It too will need to be replaced. So...
- Aftermarket Regulator $60, (can be returned)
- Window Glass $75
- Rubber Window Rail/Guide $78
- Installation labor $60 (Rail, window, everything)
So IF would have gone there 1st I would have saved at least $80 plus time.
Tell the guy to do go ahead, and do it, Monday evening, job to be complete on Tuesday (it was).
THEN, Tuesday morning Chris comes downstairs, and he had borrowed Mom's Buick on Monday evening, and that there is a problem with the rear window !!!
I take the Buick over to the guy when I pick up the Honda, and he says the cable is broke on the regulator!! Suggested I get original parts, and labor would be $70. (Wife wont let me and Chris near her car with a screwdriver or wrench.) So check prices, OEM regulator $280, aftermarket $59 !! Needless to say I'm ordering the aftermarket. The owner of the shop suggested possibly put a block of wood in the door to hold the glass up and not use the window, immediately I thought of the Chief, this would be something he would do.
Anyway, I'm turning in my "Mr Fix-It" id, I just can't keep up!
On a positive note, my friend Bob came over to run some trains last night. He brought over a MTH FM that all of a sudden wouldn't run. Asked if I would look at it before he sent it to MTH. He had been using it on his Christmas layout, the engine would go about 3" and stop, back 2" and stop. I turned it over put some jumpers on it, and found excessive fiber wrapped around the drive gear, and axles. Was able to pull the fiber out and engine works great. I didn't offer to try and fix his ZW problem, he thinks there is a loose ceramic part floating around on the inside.
Oh what fun ! (Back to the plumbing issue, still working)
Don
Morning all. Morning scripture read, prayers said. Thanks to an understanding bride, I was able to sleep a little late and make up for a long day. I am taking a class at church and have a little homework to catch up on.
RT, there is another Nickle Platte from K-Line on the auction. I got the last and thought you had spoken of interest in it.
Chief, any word on your interloper? Was hoping you would have evidence from the cameras.
Will continue to pray for Mike and family and for Char and family.
God Bless,Dennis
Good Morning
overcast and 22
Just gonna stay that way for days to come. We made a trip for groceries this morning. When we got back I locked the door behind me...I'm stayin in. No train news so have a great day...S.J.
It's about 35 and overcast, with today's high being 39. We may get some snow tonight into tomorrow, which I would normally be thrilled about. However, tomorrow our two older kids have medical appointments in OK City. OK City is about an hour and 15 minutes away and they are expecting some snow and ice as well. The appointments are at an asthma/allergy specialist clinic and we've had these appointments scheduled for about three months. The clinic is very busy so I don't want to miss them and have to reschedule. The kids will be tested for many allergies (we already know peanuts are out for our son and wheat is out for our daughter) which will help us better control their allergies that trigger their asthma issues.
I have a report I need to finish at work today since I will not be in the office at all tomorrow. I had a bowl of cereal for breakfast this morning and a pear for a snack. I need to cut down the caloric intake since my ice cream consumption has significantly increased due to my wife buying the ice cream maker.
We start Bible studies at church tonight. My wife and I are leading a marriage study together. This is the first time we will lead a study together and so far the preparation has gone great. We have different teaching styles so we'll how it goes, but as long as we remember it's not about us we'll be alright.
Mike C. -
Laz - You're killing me with all these delays you keep getting. I greatly miss PA winters.
Have a great day,
DMAY, JOE, ask CHUCK to fire the SNO HI O cannon at you for some delays. He's doing a terrifficjob here in Pa.
DON, WOW what an ordeal with thE widows. But you did fix the MTH FM. Good job.
Hello all,
Cloudy and mid 30's here. 6" +/- predicted for tomorrow.
Mike for your family.
Watched our grand daughter last evening while here Mom attended a meeting. She enjoyed Thomas and Francis for over an hour.
Snow plow on son's tractor is almost complete.
Unless my plans get changed I'll be at the Greenberg Show in Monroeville on Saturday afternoon. Predicted high is mid-teens but the snow shouldn't be a factor by then.
The SS fund is calling. Back later.
Prayers for those in need
