Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a rainy 33 degrees. Nasty. Going up to 36 today with more rain.

Today is a busy day. I have to run an errand, later. Freeze warnings on the roads now. The usual chores will keep me busy until then. No time for trains today.

Dining car is here with Cheerios for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Chuck

Blownout......I was sorry to read about your friend.  That was not good news, and I am certain he is scared.  It is good you are there for him when he needs you the most.  He has my prayers.

Hi GUYZ,

15 here and frosty.  yesterday went out with flintlock, was a beauty of a day but only saw squirrels.  At least the gun went off at the end, had to clean it then and is ready for today.  Going to be another nice day so I'll go out at 2 this afternoon.  Going to run an easy 3 miler later this mornin when it warms up a bit.

SIR JAMES and CHARLIE, How big is SUPER Os layout, or how big is his house?  WOW I'm envious of that layout, looks like a lot o fun there.  Do YUZ GUYZ go over to play there all the time?

RAY, tanks for the motivation to go out in the woods with this rust bucket(muzzleloader).  I'll get one of these deers yet?

BLOWNOUT, prayers for you and your friend.

BRUTUS, same for CHAR and your DAD.

PROBE, BIG WINDS I guess will do that even to a train.

Stay frosty,

laz57

Aloha all. I'm going to miss this early morn time with coffee and the paper. . . well, hopefully will pick up the car today - they've had it 17 days... I didn't mind as much as the bride as it kept the teens off the roads. Wink

No plans for New Years - I picked up some noise-makers for the kids. (I'll be asleep - LOL). Hope to run trains later today. Looking for the new Thomas freight car expansion set. Anyone seen it out yet?

Good morning

Woke up with temps just above freezing. We will have 3 days above 32 but the frozen snow will not melt without the sun. Laz: it was our first trip to super O Bobs layout but they get together on a regular bases and Charie and I have been invited back. His layout is well know in our area  and it was great to finally see it. Sadly, it may come down as they are looking to buy a horse farm. Eggs, bacon, taters and 1 toast this morning. I can skip lunch...S.J.

Good morning all, Cold morning (for us) here this morning with temp of 38 a few minutes ago.  Going up to the 50's today.  Overnight low forcast for 35 tonight.

#1 son got home safely from Las Vegas last night and will pick up cockateal today.  Looks like rain is over for now and week end should be dry for Rose Bowl.

Wife complaining of sore rib or something.  Thinks she hurt herself somehow getting out of a chair.  Will try to get Dr. appointment today. (good luck this time of year).  Might have to go to emergency room to get it checked out but don't look forward to that.

Suppose to pick up new table for new TV today if it comes in.  Feels like it will be too cold tonight for train running in the garage with friends.  Have to wait for warmer weather.  However, all the trains seem to be functioning  well lately.  Got a lot of train related magazines to digest now anyhow so I can do that instead.

Have a pleasant day all,

Ray

Good afternoon all,

It is at times sunny then cloudy today in SE Indiana.  Went to lunch today with old boss from the factory.  It was a nice visit.  Will br running SG in the back room today with LEGO Buildings as scenery.  Balanced checkbook as my big excitement for the day (man, I miss soccer).  I had a light breakfast as we got up late again.  TBIL anytime.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Happy Thursday.......

Well, the little one has flown off to sunny Florida....Sigh, missed her original flight because of the overbooking/line to get baggage screened.  Made the 6 PM flight to Charlotte (which is a nice airport), then connect to Jacksonville.  She's gone 3 hours and already miss her....bad.  We had a great time together with the family through Christmas and up to today.  She's a good kid......

Been busy with my Princess job searches and the Fire Dept.  31" of snow didn't help Bang Head but more bonding time with my daughter.  Her first blizzard and we spent a whole lot of time in the snow.  Even built a snow man of sorts....Laugh.

Have to go to the Fire House and put away the train layout.  After New Years I have 2 more to dismantle and then we are done.  Back into storage.

Have to catch up but Angel to Char, Brent & the Q, Blownout's friend, Mrs. Phish, Mitchlr and anyone else I've missed.

I hope to get back, but if I don't Happy New Year!!

Well tomorrow I get to put in a new hot water heater. no biggy there done a few of them working plumbing job as helper for a year and then 5 years working trailer park in VA. so its no big thing for me. After truck and hot water heater get paid off ( hopefully come Feb) I'm going to try a pay period with no OT at all will be first time in since I started working there. LOL been there over 2 1/2 years already.

Hello all,

Man we're talkative this week,

Can't believe my week off is almost over. Where'd the time go? Been working on adding a nine foot snowplow to son's tractor. That and the four wheel drive will move more snow than the seven foot on our Massey Ferguson. Didn't even do any hunting. Maybe on New Years after the family get together. Was cold and windy until today.

I did get the flagman I won on ebay added to Dad's layout. It's a little sluggish but looks nice.

Laz good luck with your Flintlock.

Mitch, Get the hernia done now. I tried to have mine repaired on my schedule. Didn't wait. It got strangulated and ended up being an emergency procedure.

88 Sorry to hear about the set back on the adoption

Blownout. Prayers for your friend

Brutus, prayers for Dad and Mrs's continued improvement

Off to join Mrs in bed

Prayers for those in need

Thanks guys - Dad came through the surgery today fine.  They removed the hardware from his knee and put in a spacer.  He'll be in a leg brace with antiobiotics until it is all healed up, then they will redo the knee replacement.  Char's bone density test was A-OK.  Her numbers were okay, but potassium is low. The reduced her steroids and ordered physical therapy for her too.

Got my new CTT and looks like a nice issue.  After we got home today, we went to the eye glasses place and got fitted for our new prescriptions.  3 of us needed new glasses (sigh), but we figured it would go that way so have set aside money for it.  Then used some money my folks' gave us for Christmas to get a new microwave.  The old one is getting flakey esp after my daughetr cooked some tinfoil in it.  BUT - after we got it home, I checked online and this model from LG apparently has a pretty high failure rate after a year or 2.  I might take it back tomorrow, we'll see.

Chewy needs a walk, so we'll go warm up the Tardis and head out soon - BARK!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Partly sunny and about 60 here today.  The snow is gone.  However, it is supposed to be in the 20's by tomprrow night.

Laz - you've got to remember that the other side was also using flintlocks.  I think our success was more in how we used them rather than how well they worked.

Our youngest son arrived today.  Not sure how long he will be staying, but we are glad to see him.  Our oldest son had an abcess on his neck drained today.  Wisely, he and his wife canceled their trip to come and see us this weekend.

Picked up my Coca-Cola Christmas boxcar at the LHS today.  Glad that I did not have plans to use it on a Christmas layout since it got here after Christmas.  Thought breifly about wrapping it up and giving it to my wife for her birthday present today.  Figured it would not go over very well, so I went with the Tetras game for her Nintendo DS instead.

Prayers for healing and safe travel.

All for now.

Morning.  Feel good after a good night's sleep.  Now for some coffee.  Go to transfer the computer from my computer "desk" to my Granddad's old roll top desk I brought from the house.  Keyboard on desk top will be a little high but that will be OK.  Got big RCA Victroller that is self standing cabinet.  Open top doors and speaker is in there.  Lift top to put records on turntable.  Side has crank.  Open bottom doors and record storage.  Has lots of real old records in it.  Best part, it works.  Mostly cloudy and might be rain in the forecast [not sure as slept through the weather last night].  Real warm compared to past days.  Hope all have a great new year.  Later

23 here going up to 46.  Going out again with flintlock this afternoon.  Nothing but squirrels yesterday but a nice day to sit in the woods.  Today gonna wear small game clothing because of this warmth.

BRENT, things will work out, seems they always do.  Prayers for YUZ TWO.

BRUTUS, continued prayers.

Sunny and 42 going to 45 at exit 77 (GSP).

Still like a winter wonderland from that 25 inches of snow last Sunday!

Chief - Sounds like you have some nice finds from your grandfather! It reminds me of when we cleaned out my grandfathers place 30+ years ago. In the back of his detached unheated garage I found a 1920 RCA Senora Minuet. Now we visited my grandfather often and even though I was 20 at the time I never saw this before! I took it home, opened it up, cranked it up and it still worked. Who knows how long it was out there! Remember this was bought in 1920. It cost $175.00! I know all these details because the paperwork, manuals and receipt, was still in the bottom draw! I still play it once in a while as the kids get a treat out of it (I kinda do too).

Hope all have a safe and happy new year and a healthy road to recovery and continued recovery for all.

Aloha. 52 out today! Great temp to end the year. Ran the 248 and its coaches, and the 41 and a few cars yesterday. Boy, is it ever great 'therapy' to run the old ones. 41 really sounds like its grinding its heart out, but everything checks out - by far the loudest engine I've ever heard. Might take the youngest to see the Narnia movie and then pizza with the rest of the family.

Boy, that Victrola sounds like a find. I have a few old 'tube' radios I like to fire up every now and then. Still work fine.   Happy New Year to you all!
