Doug, forcast today calls for 78 on Saturday and 85 on Sunday.  Wow!  Need to break out the suntan lotion again.  Overnight lows will remain in low 50"s for the week end.  Tough weather but somebody has to deal with it.

Good Morning (?) All,

Dougdg - Regarding the status of the pool, it is too cold up here.  The water temp is around 67, and I've already winterized it.  (Deflated the air mattresses, and stored them in the shed.)  You guys down there are sure tough on neighbors, I can't believe they just burned that house down, seems a little dramatic.  If it would have been owned by a city or county politician, I'll bet it would have been handled diferently!

Watched the recent "I Love Toy Trains" on RFDTV, it has to do with Christmas and Toy Trains, really a good episode.  Angella Trotta is featured, interesting that she and her husband recreated a '50's store in their home.  Very good viewing IMO.

John Baker, Dont give up on me with Skype, I think I will need to make some changes to my computer to incorporate it.

RT - When did you get that photo of the Chief, I dont recall hearing him talk about working a field like that, maybe it was up at the lake house.

Will share one of my more "dumb" issues it took me 3 months to FINALLY resolve.  Bob, (the friend of mine with all the engines and problems.)  He had seen a Beep that I had installed the ER TMCC upgrade into.  And decided he want one, so he bought 3!  Then bought the Mini Commander from ER.  Since I did mine they had changed the unit, unfortunately they dont have the sound card anymore.  So asked if I would "help" him install it.  No problem.  However after I did the installation, I couldn't get the lights on the Beep to work.  I tried everything I could think of, even pulled the unit out of mine and swapped it.  Finally resolved to the fact that the new board had some different programming on it.  Even tried all 3 that he had, same result.  Contacted ER, and Ken indicated that their was some programming features, but was certain the lights were not affected.  Worked on it some more, no avail.  After 2 months, I again called ER and was going to see about sending the boards to them.  Ken suggested I check the light output voltage which should be 3v, for the LED's.  "LED's" !  All this time, I had been trying to get the incandescent lights to work.  (Same as my Beep)  But the newer board only operates LEDs.  All that just to find out I wasn't using the correct device.  Of course, soon as I put a LED in, it operated correctly!  (Assume he won't have a problem with a Green Led for Forward, and a Red Led for Reverse, unless I go buy some clear ones.)

Today is going to be a paper packaging day, found a lot of inventory we didn't realize we had, and going to have a paper sale this weekend.  Probably get roped into putting up a Christmas Tree as well.

Hope everyone has a good day!

Don

Morning all.  Seems the snohio cannons are now aimed straight up.  That means it snohioes on those who fired them this way.  LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW.  Big Smile

Off to a meeting in Raleigh [a deli sandwich for lunch, where's my steak? Whistling].

Warmer today [we "broke" 40 yesterday].  Cat did good in the house last night except for one thing.  Gnawed a hole in the cat food bag for a "midnight" snack.  Dogs settled down and went to sleep.  Actually Burg acted as if he did not care that she was in the house.  Interesting.  Emailed some layout photos to a reporter who is doing an article on me and Christmas.

Have a good one.

Aloha all. Amazing how  27 feels so warm after this week's temps. Expecting dirty weather over the weekend and another deep-freeze next week. Well, it should make the Bears-Pats game more interesting.

Spent way too long at the church helping w the choir for the Christmas outreach last night. Expect more than 600 families tomorrow - they get to 'shop' for new stuff just like in a store and everyone gets a big dinner for Christmas too. Prayers for Vince!

Good morning all,

It may Snohiozone today in SE Indiana and perhaps all weekend.  Long day at work.  Lots of pediatric cases, which are the worst.  Most of the time there is a happy ending with them.  We do share a lot of laughs, most of which I can not even begin to imagine being able to tell here.  I did some Christmas shopping online last night.  Hope that experiment works ok.  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  Continued prayers for Char and all else who need them.  TBIL after the movie tonight. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good night all.  Cat is in the house in mud rooom.  Put up doggie gate and left door open for temp reasons.  Everyone but Finn has settled in.  He wants to bark every now and then.  Burg is not paying any attention and he is the one that does not like the cat.  Long day.  Will not go into details,  Sleep tight.

Good evening all,

Instead of taking the two older kids to the observatory tonight, I took them to a movie night instead.  The housing contractor on-base showed Charlie Brown and served popcorn and nachos.  The kids and I enjoyed it, and it always makes the wife happy if she doesn't have to cook or clean.

After the show, it was time to get the kids ready for bed.  I have been spending the past hour or so contemplating what to buy for my Christmas present.  I bid on a locomotive last night but was quickly outbid.  It went for about $30 more than I was willing to pay.  Now I am trying to decide if I should still go after a locomotive or other items (buildings, scenery, etc.) to complete the layout.  It's a tough decision.

I'm jealous of all you folks enjoying cold weather and/or snow.  Have a good night all.

Howdy guys - ready for banilla and rootbeer Smile  Char is doing okay, but lost a couple pounds.  They changed her meds a little and upped some.  Potassium is a little too low, which is making her weak too.  No trains today, just been busy with stuff.  Team Christmas party tomorrow at work, so I'm looking forward to that.  We play "Dirty Santa" where you can pick a gift or rob your neighbor - always lots of fun.  This year I went for a nice gift and got a bottle of wine.  2 of my friends from work are retiring at the end of this month, which is bitter-sweet.

Tardis is ready and I can drive tonight, so lets hit it guys!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Evening Folks,

Crazy busy at work. The little ones are getting restless. I have lots of holiday celebrations coming up three parties in 5 days (Fri, Sun, and Tues).  Weather is supposed to warm up a bit on Sat.  with a high in the mid 40's before it dives below freezing again next week.  15 this morning when I got up. Brrr.  I've been running the Standard Gauge set under the tree most evening.  I really love that tinplate stuff.

Brutus - Hope that Char continues to improve

Don B - congrats on the retirement/move

Fife - congrats on the grand-pup.  Post some pics when you get a chance.

Dead tired tonight. Going to bed and try to warm up.  It is sooo cold.

Take care,

Mitch

Don, Chris looks sharp in that tux!  I don't think I ever owned one myself.   If I got one  now, I would have to buy one with a bay window in it.  Weather is improving "up North" here in Glendora.  Sunny days are here again and highs predicted for 79 by the weekend.  I have been running my recently aquired Southern Railway green PS 4 steam engine that I got off of the buy/sell forum.  I had one of these and sold it and always regretted it.  I finally made it right and bought one back.  I must have eaten too may grits the day I sold the first one.  My wife and I took a friend's husband out to dinner last night while his wife is still in the hospital.  She is suppose to be home Saturday.  They have had a lot of health problems.  Need prayers.  Went to TTOS meet last Sunday and picked up a MTH premier Santa Fe "El Capitan" tank scale tank car for $20.  Such a deal!

Best wishes for a good week to all you guys on the forum.

Jack,

Thanks.  I put one of my other 755s under the tree yesterday, and I am thinking of adjusting the cam timing so I can use one of the repro Continental Limited records for something a bit different.  I bought 300 needles for about $15 on ebay, so I don't have to worry about those.

NavyJack,

You should've bought that Hudson as they are tough to find intact and not rotten.

Mornin' All.

Sorry Don, Surely you realize that once you join the "Old Geezer Brigade" the first thing you do is opt out of the fun stick shift and go for the auto transmission. Black Eye

Brutus, Just hold off on the Sliders for awhile.

This is going to definitely be a "Stay at Home Day" today. If you haven't seen it on the news anywhere the house that was the home of a bank robber/bomb maker is going to be going up in flames this morning. They say it is far to dangerous to try to clear all the stuff by hand. Bad part is they will be closing down the I-15 up here on the north end of town, where we live, and the traffic will be detoured partially thru town. Bang Head Grumpy The sad part though is that he was a renter, don't know who the owner is, and there will be no reimbursement by any agencies. Guesstimate it to be about a $500k+ home.

Later all !

Good morning all,

I’m just taking a quick break from work to have a cup of coffee.  The weather is still unseasonably warm around here; today's high is 58.  I'm hoping to take the kids to the local observatory tonight to look at some stars.  Other than that, it should be a quiet evening.

Back to work for now,

Down to 14 last night and the cold is with us until the weekend.  Very cold relative to my proximity to the ocean.  Wifey is in the air on her way back from the UK, on schedule.....the dire weather conditions around London and vicinity had moved on, no issues for her.  But I am scrambling to clean the house up a bit before I pick her up at Boston Logan.

Joe.....don't you just hate it when the end of the (fill in the blank) approaches and everyone starts dumping those last munute, got to have it yesterday projects and to do's?  "Off my desk, on Joe's, not my problem, it's his.  Then they skip out the door to enjoy their personal life.  Bang Head  Focus on the test and your family is my opinion.

Brutus,,,,,,,,great news on Char.  Prayers continue for her progress.  Hope her tests go well today.  But for the life of me I can't picture your cooking helping things ouy.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Chief.....re climbing up on the roof or on ladders to fix a freakin' shutter---I must remind you, is it worth the risk?  It wasn't for 88!!!!!!!  Re the cat and Burg needing to be kept separated, I train Maximus the Doberman with folks with this issue in their homes.  Our trainer pulls out live cats in her training facility and works with everyone assimilating the cats into the dogs' training, to get the dogs' normal inclination to treat the cats like their toys and stuffed animals or, more common, to blunt the dogs' natural prey drive.  Some breeds take a little more time and work, but the result is the same.  Peaceful co-existence.

DonB......Chris looks like James Bond in that tux.  We are wondering what you would look like in one.  Laugh

JohnBakeer......you never explained why you are having so much trouble getting to the Pot.  There is a web address, then the sign in.

Later, gang.

Good morning everyone.  Been real busy with work.  I am on call for most of this month, so I will be limited in leisure activities.  Currently watching the DVR'ed Trains & Locomotives on the NY and Long Branch Railroad....it has lots of Pennsy, NYC, CNJ, and other railroads serving the area.

I really need to get the train room cleaned up for visitors, but as I mentioned earlier, got a lot going on with work and family.  Kids are giving a violin concert for one of the Assisted Living Centers in town this Friday, perhaps I can make, but also plenty of other activity to keep all of us going.

Chief, I think them rascals in Ohio are using a scatter gun for the snow/cold.  We had snow yesterday, though none of it stuck.  Also, the temps have been in the low 20s at night and only getting into the 50s during the day...what's with that?

Hope to check back before long...I will keep Char and several others in prayer.

Dennis

PS: Don, nice photo of Chris...A fine young man I know you are proud of him.

Morning all.  Still cold but moderating.  Got to get the under the back seat "cargo tray" installed in the pickup.  Should hae had one of these years ago.  Even has a rifle/shotgun holder.  Need to pull tomato baskets out of garden and disk them and the pepper plants in.

Fifey, each blowup has its own pump.  They blowup when the timer turns them on.  Gail's shutter was easy.  Crawl out the window on a fairly flat roof.  I use 3 1/2 inch deck screws and two washers [one small to hold the deck screw head and a larger to keep the screw from going through the plastic].  A little spray paint and you do not notice them.

John Bakeer does not know which side of the street to drive one. Whistling

Now here is a special blessing I send to all you Yankees.  May you have snohio and well below freezing temps for months. Looks like we are in for a rough winter.Crying

Only one in town meeting today.  Then senior ladies Christmas dinner tonight [Pam teaches the Sunday School class].

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Mid-Atlantic region experiencing daytime "highs" that are traditionally nighttime lows.   Fifepup made the Coffee today.  A little strong, and only 2 cups worth, so just take a sip then pass it on down the countertop.

Ranger in driveway.  A hit with #2 princess, whom will be piloting same.  She wants the ladder rack off though.  Dad is gonna break it in this week though. Big Smile

Chief - Good luck filling those Christmas inflatible decorations.  And maybe Grady should fix that shutter...

Good Morning from work in Edison, NJ, 18 and clear,

John Bakeer, Over here the majority of the vehicles up to med. heavy trucks are automatic. Our fleet is 95% automatic. It is a money maker for the dealers with the extra servicing.

Brutus, Glad to hear that Char is doing well.

Mike, music does make a difference.

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.
