Don B. -- a most EXCELLENT report, thanks Thumbs Up  We just don't have any meets around here anymore, the last meet I went to was in York 4 years ago.  Fife -- the last sail of the year, always a sad day.  Have you ever thought about sailing down the intercostal and hiding out in Key West? Cool

Hi GUYZ,

Well went pheasant hunting for the last day of season for us, didn't see any pheasants.  We did see a flock of turkeys about 40 of them just outside the sweet grass.  We couldn't hunt them this weekend because of bear season go figure, just our luck.  But we had some fun with them any way.  We snuck up on them, they were above us on a knoll and we were below them on the other side of the sweetgrass.  They couldn't see us and we went right through the grass and busted up the flock turkeys were flying all over the place.  If the season was in we would have had one each, was really neat to do and laughed big time.  Later we went through the remainder of the sweetgrass and pushed out 3 doe.  Went spotting deer afterwards and saw some big buck.  Had fire ate burgers and brawts, BRUTUS dropped off some OL MILs for us too.  Tanks JIM!!!

SHAKE and BAKE cool pics of SP MAN!!!   Neat story too.

FIFE, prayers for you.

Stay frosty,

Morning all.  Lazy.  Watched Tora Tora Tora on TV.

Shake and Bake, good job with report and photos.

Got to help with Church Christmas tree this afternoon.  Then Wifey's Aunt has big birthday party.  Something all the time.

Really warm for Nov.  Suppose to turn colder after T'day.  MAybe take Neice fishing before it turns cold.  She is out of school Tues and Wed.  Wifey wants to do house stuff Tues or maybe take her Wed.

Chat later.

Good morning all,

We had a great dinner last night with a couple we remain friends with.  We went to the best steak house in town, and I am always pleased with this place's steaks.  They are just as good, actually better, than places like Ruth's Chris.  And the prices are better too.

Today we will attend church and then hit the road.  The weather is great here and at home which will make for a safe driver.  The only not-so-good part is the high winds - 25 mph.

I'll check back in tonight.

Aloha all. Looks like a good time was had by all at the Cal meet. Good thing it was fully documented. Looks like today is the last 'warmish' day of our year, so even though it is sprinkling out I will get out and enjoy it after church. Maybe take the boys down to the 'new' lake. Prayers for Char continue; Sonic burgers and sliders have magic healing powers. Meeting with youngest's teacher tomorrow - I'll rearrange work to attend - there's some things to talk about. Maybe run trains later.

My buddy D Baker can always be counted on for capturing the unusual happenings.  He caught me yesterday with my slip showing when I clobbered that standard gauge Ives white train in the picture.  I think I also noticed I had to loose some weight. (Thanks Don).  If you notice in the picture there was a little kid dressed in red that was taking our chain barrier down and about to enter the layout.  I was trying to get to him when I kicked over the train.  Maybe you should have titled the picture "Big foot sighted at Cal Stewart" or "retired SP engineer shows how to handle a train."  Anyway we all had fun.

Thanks Don,

Ray

Good Morning Guys...a quick run through...

Fife, Loved Lassie, will miss her.  Very sweet dog.

Brutus: Good news on Char!  Angel for her and all our intentions!

2 more interviews this week, then to Centerville, VA to my brother's for T-Day.

Getting stuff together for layout at the FD.  Construction begins today.

FD went to a gas leak yesterday, same house that was on fire a couple of months ago.  Found out the construction is permit-less...someone is in deep doo doo....

Been busy with fire stuff and job hunt...been promoted to Engineer in the FD.  MORE responsibilities...Bang Head.  Gotta love it.  Had an Astro van ablaze Thursday on the Turnpike...some magnesium on the engine and it was hit with a cold straight stream of water....yeah, THAT was fun Bang Head...no, it was a mutual aide company that did that, we just "backed" 'em up.

Will check in soon..have a great Sunday and Thanksgiving!

Afternoon All !

Delightful day here, if you're a duck. But I think they are grounded as well. Umbrella

Bob, If you are headed up the mountain you mite consider putting a few rocks in your pockets, lots of wind & rain/snow headed your way.

Things went well at the museum friday. Thomas & Percy worked the whole day with some brief breaks when we didn't have any visitors. The others were running TMCC & DCS, seems the gremlins were causing some headaches for them.

Don't know if anyone has tried this yet, but lastnight I ordered the English style whistle board for the Lionel Kinlet Hall to install in the Hogwarts. Any anticipated problems ?

Later.

Sunny and 70 here today.

Spent the morning in the plant finishing up some prototype parts.  That takes care of one item on this week's to do list.  Still looks like it is going to be another week of long days though.

Enjoyed the weather with a bit of fetch with the dog in the back yard.  Haven't done that in a while.  After a while, the dog started limping on his left front - kind of like he pulled a muscle.  That ended the game.

Got a little more work done on a remodeling project, after watching parts of the NAPCAR  race.

No trains today, though I enjoyed the train show pictures and SPH.

All for now.

Good evening everyone.  Been home for about an hour since church.  Have to share some great news.  Out of the blue, the Coca Cola company is giving our church one of their bottling company buildings.  It is 66,000 square feet on 4 acres of land.  Biggest blessing is that this congressional district is the 9th poorest in the country and this city is the 4th poorest.  The location of the building is right in the middle of the poorest area of this city and our church has been doing some ministry outreach.  This will allow us to open a church for many folks who would have a very difficult time making it to where our main church is located.  Also, with the vast number of offices and outside buildings in this donation, there is plenty of area to store clothes, food, etc., to give to these same poor folks.  So many blessings wrapped in one gift.  I spoke with a photographer friend of mine who is also my Sunday School teacher and we are going to go to the area where we had filmed some of the movie at.  Plan is to do professional family portraits for these families and give them the photos in a frame for free.  How nice it would be for some to have photos of their families...something we tend to take fro granted.

Fife, I know a artist from Bermuda who hand built a sail boat with his family and then sailed from Bermuda to France, then sold the boat and flew back.  While it may seem very strange to most of us, I guess it was an adventure they will have great memories from.

Well, time to hit the sheets.  Hope it is a blessed week for each of you.

Dennis

Good evening all,

It was warm and partly cloudy in SE Indiana with temps in the 60s.  After much dis"cuss"ion, the outside lights were placed outside today.  Not as good as what we had in the past, but serviceable.  "Unstoppable" is a very good movie.  Not sure if it is totally realistic, but it sure kept you on the edge of your seat.  About halfway thru the show, I was about ready to call in an airstrike on the news helicopter that was following the scene.  I also visited the "barber shop" and wife and I both visited uncle at nursing home.  From death's door to almost feeding himself, he is making a remarkable recovery.  Wife's BIL is walking a tightrope with three blood clots in heart and lung area.  Also talked to buddy who is separating from wife.  Really can not get a handle on the situation.  See where 48 won another title.  Some one at work will be really upset (Not me as I only follow 14 and 24 and 39 (good Hoosiers all).  I had bacon and waffles on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.  It was so warm I was able to run 10E freight set up in the attic.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good evening all.

Don, Nice report on all the excitement at Cal-Stewart.  I did notice the printer setting on the table with the ink supply, hope you sold a few.

Fife, Sorry to hear about Lassie, after hearing the story of how you acquired her this summer, it is understandable that she will be missed.

Very nice day today, with warmer than normal temperatures during the daylight hours. Of course when the Sun went down, it cooled off fast. Finished getting the Christmas outdoor decorations wired up and timers set up, like to do this before the real cold weather starts. Still have a Christmas tree to assemble for the flagpole. First year for this so some assembly required :dumb1: .

I am back on the forum after a week in Branson and a week to recover. Think this will be our last bus trip, friends talked us into it. :wall1:

Hope everyone has a great week.

Sounds like fun, Mike!  That's a standard gauge train, right?

Didn't do much today - laundry all day, picked up a small radio for my wife and some crackers she wanted and took them out to the hospital.  Sure hope she gets out this week.

TARDIS is ready of course, so let's get moving men!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good evening all,  just got home a little while ago from the Cal Stewart final day of train meets.  There were no more big foot incidents by me today but a couple of other guys did the same thing so they got the glory today.  Visited with D Baker a little during the meet at his table.  We had another laugh about yesterday's train crash.  I bought a scale daylight 70 ft. baggage car by GGD that matches a combine I got last time.  Also pickup up a new hook and ladder fire truck by Corgi and a new 40 ft. SP trailer on a flatcar which I promply broke the trailer hitch on.  Maybe it was already broken when I got it but I think I think I can glue it back together.  It barely fits through the Lionel black 213 vertical lift bridge and hits the counter weight on the Lionel 313 bascule bridge on the other main track.   I think I'm going to have to retire that bridge since so many of the new things won't fit.  It was made back in the days of the small Lionel cars of the 40's and 50's.

Dennis, thank the Lord for the new facility you folks got to carry on your ministry for helping the poor.  God knows, times are tough now for a lot more people than usual.  Hopefully, you will be able to help many.

Only downer today was news of an old fellow TCA member I have known for  at least 30 years coming down with throat cancer in stage 4.  He is not doing well and can't tolerate the chemo.  Does not want to see anyone but we sent him a card today signed by a lot of the members   We all pray for him and send him our best wishes.

Looking forward to D Baker's take on things at the train meet.  I had to hang around until about 5:00 o'clock PM today until we got most of our stuff out of the hall.  Said goodbye to the others and split shortly thereafter.

I think the rain is over now.  Hope we have a nice week for Thanksgiving and our trip to San Diego this coming weekend.

Later,

Ray

Good night.  Relapse on sinus thingy.  Had fever this evening.  Two Tylenols and off to Wifey's Aunt's B'day party.  Just popped two more and off to bed.  Neighbor is still not home.  He has/had pnuemonia.  Is at this parents' I guess [hope not hospital].  Was going to call them and check.  Too late.  His cell goes straight to voice mail [bet battery dead].  Been sick for over two weeks now.

Sleep tight.

Good morning all,

It is supposed to be warm and rainy in SE Indiana with temps in the 60s.  Dennis, that is good news about the facility you are getting.  Brutus, yes the 10E is standard gauge.  It is probably the best running of the four SG engines I have, and the one I paid the least for.  Hmmmmm....  I had cereal and English muffins for breakfast on the dining car before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL, but it will have to be an early run.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good morning everyone.  Kids are up eating pancakes and will be getting ready for school shortly.  I am finally off call as of two minutes ago.  Mike, that is all too common with regard to your friends.  We can pray about it, but unless we have been down the same road, it is hard to give them advice.  Our pastor spoke of this last night....all too often, folks get advice from people who didn't do well on the marriage front in the first place.  I have directed folks to speak with their pastors for scriptural advice, they are much better at dealing with such.

Chief, better take care of yourself, or you will be down the pneumonia route too!  You may have to skip a parade or two till you return to full health.

Brutus, With lots of prayer and a return to better health, I hope to hear good news on Char soon and have her home with you and the family real soon.

Mike, with what our church has been blessed with, comes huge responsibility.  As it is said, if not us...who, if not now, when.  These people need help.  It has been our motto to "reach the world from Albany, Georgia", but we also have to reach the people right here in our own back yard.

It is supposed to be in the low 80s for the next few days with possible rain on Thanksgiving.  We are thinking of taking in Callaway Gardens which is a resort that has a great turkey day feast.  Should be lots of fun.

God Bless,
Dennis

Morning all.  Real foggy and warm.  TV sky cam showed only the three tall towers in Raleigh just above the fog.  Looked like flying in a plane over the clouds.  I'm sure the folks working on the upper floors thought the same.

Wifey has sinus headache.  Staying home from work.  Was scheduled off rest of the week [Thursday and Friday holiday].  OMG!!!!!!

Headed east to the farms to photo crops [mainly soybeans] that I hope they have not picked yet.  Want to show the poor job present renter is doing.  Changing farmers.  Will email cousins photos of their farms.  Two out of the three have not seen theirs but twice in their life and they are in their 40's.  Oh well.  Haven't seen them but three times since their Mom [my Aunt] died in the 70's.  Try to help them out as they know nothing about farming and forestry.

Have a great week.    [waiting for my NS Genset to arrive !!!!!]

Mornin' Fellas

Been under the weather the last few days... finally starting to get back into the swing of things.

Fife - sorry to read about Lassie. Great dog. Prayers for you, Wifey, and the kiddos.

Brutus - thought I read somewhere that Char is doing better?

Picked up the FasTrack for the Christmas tree layout. Now to get started building it! Want to pickup the new tree this weekend and have the layout ready for when it arrives. Shouldn't take much since it is rather small.
