Evenin' boys.  A cool 50 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Gonna pick wifey up in a few and take her out.  It was a F1 funnel that touched down 4 miles south of our house this week.  Much of that day was spent dealing with power outages in the area.

Yatchet comes out Monday.  Perhaps one last cruise tomorrow, then stowing the sails.

Our 13-14 year old collie is on his last legs (literally).  Tough choice ahead.

Good evening everyone.  Been a relatively good day.  Wife's best friend who lives in Ohio is on her last legs with cancer.  Rather somber evening here....Perhaps we have to make arrangements for bride to go visit.

Fife, we have had several of those lately.  Seems you never get an isolated bit of gang activity.  Always payback and one upmanship.  Would make life easier for everyone else if they would just put them all in a big cage and eventually they will remove each other from the gene pool.  Sorry to hear about your dog.  It is a tough choice to make.  When they can't walk and when you know they are in pain....ARRRGH, I hate to go there.  God Bless on that front.

Chief, hope you had good luck with the 22-250.  With regard to cleaning, I usually would just use my Hart rest, which locked it in place very well.  I really need to get all the high power stuff out and get back to shooting again.

Joe, yeah, we love the time with the kids as they only stay young for so long.  But, we really love taking time to just be with each other.  Though those times are far too few, we do look forward to them.

We are about finished with our Christmas shopping.  Son's metal detector arrived today, as did my new lens.  We also got a bow and arrow set for our son and a bunch of other stuff on the way.  One thing my wife wants is for new hard wood floors....Sad In the mean time, I will try to make the laminate floors look their best.

God Bless,
Dennis

Fife,

Sorry to hear about your dog.  We had to put our previous dog to sleep in 2002 after 15 years due to severe arthritis, so I unfortunately know how tough this type of thing is to deal with.

I finally got around to testing the 312AC that I got last Sunday, and I finally bought something at a show that actually runs as the seller stated.Thumbs Up  Needs absolutely nothing.  I got a nice box and wrapper off the bay for $40 to go with it, so I am I 100% satisfied with this one.  Also got 5 more pieces of narrow tie roadbed in today.

Good evening all,

It was cloudy in SE Indiana today.  I did not do much of anything today, but I am feeliing better.  I hope to get outside tomorrow and get some work done.  Not all the leaves are down, but I still need to work on them and I may hang the outisde Christmas lights if the weather cooperates.  Other than that I have nothing else to report.  TBIL anytime.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Hi GUYZ,

Well went down BARRYs TRAIN SHOP to pick up CHIEFs and my NS GENSETs.  Brought mine home, CHIEF yours is going out Monday morn.  All I gotta say is what a sweet engine this thing is.  Ran it tonite with NO PRBLEMs!!!  Great looking and better running GENSET!!  Lionel really outdid themselves with these GENSETs.

FIFE,

Really sorry to hear about your best friend.  I just lost my bestest buddy of 12.5 years on Sept 8th this year and it still gets to me.  I will be getting another LAB in the summer of next year.  Dwell on all the great times she has given you.  I still do everyday.  Sometime I even hear her, but don't tell anyone?

Stay frosty,

Back from watching the pastor's youngsters (so he and his wife could go out without having to pay a sitter). One was coughing hard. Hope I avoided the germs. Laz, those gensets are supposed to be some of the most beautifully detailed engines ever.  I'm sorry for your upcoming decision, Fife.

Hi gang, just a quick check in because I'm pretty worn out from setting up layout for the Cal Stewart train meet today in Pasadena.  Show opens at 9:00 AM tomorrow morning.  Need to get some rest so I can get up early.  Will look for our buddy D Baker at the show.  He is going to have a table to sell stuff he says.  Talked to our layout leader today about train theft he had a while back and was glad to hear that it was insured.  However, some items that were personal can not be replaced at any price.  Will try to give a report on the show tomorrow.

Good night all.  Finn woke me up to go out.  Gang has been peed.   Crashed about 9 in recliner.  Will sleep late or bad news for everyone.

Fifey, sorry.  Like family.  Prayers for you and the family.

Went fox hunting.  No deer nor foxes until almost dark.  Fox came out just before dark.  Finally found him in the scope at about the 100 yd flag [running away from me].  Was "following" with crosshairs.  Let loose a round of the .22-250.  Blinded!!!!  What a flash and it has an extra long barrel.  Fred was spotter with his binouclars.  Said all he saw was a mighty flash.  No fox but I bet he messed in his pants.  Loud but not much kick.  Trigger is great.  Fred deer hunted yesterday.  Nothing moved until dark.  Must be the almost full moon.

LAZ, mailing check.  Thanks for the help.  That will get me into the trainroom for a change.

Leaves really falling now.  Will get the mower out and start bagging.

Sleep tight.

Fifey - hang tough, man.  Prayers.  I believe all good dogs go to heaven.

Laz/Chief - sounds like a sweet engine!

8NT - good news on your wife, hope you are both hanging in there!

Char had some good food today and said she was doing okay, so another baby step.  Management made their decisions on the promotions, but it was late in the day so they will hand out the letters on Monday.  I have a really good feeling, since one of the guys told me my test scores.  I'll know for sure on Monday though!

TTFN - Tardis is ready, but RT is going to drive tonight as I'm a little tired!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good morning everyone from Abilene, TX,

The weather is about 15 degrees warmer than Enid, OK.  The family and I made it here yesterday with no problems.  It was about a 6 1/2 hour drive; we could have made it faster, but the wife and baby required more stops.  We met with a couple and their kids for dinner last night.  They are good friends and we will see them again tonight.

The wedding is today at 2pm.  I do not believe it will be a long ceremony or reception which will give us time to complete some Christmas shopping.  We went to the local Hobby Lobby, but their train items were very sparse.  I picked up some WS scenic cement I needed.  It was a dollar cheaper than our store in Enid, and I also had a coupon.

Fife - Sorry to hear about your friend.

8NT/Brutus - I'm glad you had positive reports on your wives.  Prayers for their continued progress.

CNW - I won some door prizes, but nothing too spectacular.  Some local businesses donate items so I won a Ford t-shirt, two barn calendars, and an Indian casino blanket.  One of the guys I went with won a $400 gift certificate to WalMart which made him the big winner.

Ray - I hope the show goes well.

Chief/Laz - Congrats on your new engines; I hope some photos/videos will be shared.

I will try to check back in tonight.

Indifferenthello guys.  was amazed to find out some people have drawn unemployment for two years.  where did govt get the money.  i had thought it was for 13 weeks.  now i hear everyone crying that after thanksgiving unemployment runs out for four million people.  most are the long term unemployed.  hmmmm.  train prices seem like they continue to go up.  still lots of bargains around though.  i saw a new legacy conventional gp-9 for 379 bucks.  guess i am just behnd the times.  oh well for those who can afford them, god bless. lionel prices seem to say.... make in u.s. again....navyjack

Good morning guys.  Chief/Laz, I hope to hear good reports and see some nice photos of your latest purchase.  While they don't really fit in with the era I am modelling, perhaps we can make an exception?  I can pretend they were dropped off by a visit from the Tardis!

Chief, I found that with a full moon, the best time to get out is about 10am, that is about when they get up to feed again.  Otherwise, they get out too late after dark and are bedded down by sun up.

Fife, is he on Celebrex?  I know a lot of vets get the older dogs with arthritis issues on Celebrex and Glucosamine.   Not that they prolong life, but they do tend to allow for better mobility in the later years.

Have some work to get done around the house.  I am still on call, so hope the hospital stays quiet so I can accomplish something.

God Bless,
Dennis

Morning all.  Got some sleeeeep.  Off to Miss Edna's for a few.

LAZ, thanks old man.  LAZ and Barry's have come through several times when Edna could not get it or her orders were "closed".

Fifey, Burg got real bad and Jack told me about GloscamineMade a big difference.  Get it from Walgreens when they do a buy one get one free.  Tripple strength.  Also vet found out he had thyroid problems.  One pill per day.  Lost weight and gets around better too.

Later.

We lost our little Jack Russell of 14 years in late September.  Sometimes I still hear her too.  We miss her so much. Especially now that it is cooler she would have been snuggled up next to one of us keeping warm.

Another busy week at work.  Next week I have to work 2 days but kiddos and teachers are off so it will be an easy week. The Mrs. is heading to a girls day out with some of her friends so I am hanging out by myself all day.  Going to go out and mulch up some leaves, then watch some football and NASCAR.

Take care,

Mitch

Our 13-14 year old collie is on his last legs (literally).  Tough choice ahead.

Fife - I can relate. I have said this before, we went through that 8 times over the years. Enjoyed the companionship, but can't take the loss anymore, so no more dogs for us.

Here is another "it's never dull on the farm" story. Last Thur. I cleaned up and headed out to go to town. Didn't see the cows. Found they had busted through the fence into a stock piled field reserved for Jan 1. I guess they decided to celebrate New Years early! Ever try to heard cows OUT of the best grass field on the farm?

Tomorrow is the last NASCAR race. Still three challengers for the cup, Danny Hamlin, Keven Harvick and who was the third? Oh yes, Jimmie something. I am rooting for Hamlin. I'll bet Fife is backing Harvick. Should be a good race.

SJ - Is that the Jan. issue of CTT? I just got the Dec. issue, opened and dog eared. At least I got it this time. CTT had to send me one last time. I would like to know who in the post office likes to read CTT. I would invite him over to play with the trains, and give him a subscription for Christmas!

Started on a low-carb diet (life style change) on Oct.1. Mostly fresh, nothing with sugar added, no starches. Lost 17 lbs. and counting. Oh well, put it on slow, take it off slow. Found sugar free beef dogs. Now to find a receipt for sugar free/starch free buns.

Enjoy the weekend, what's left of it.

Aloha all. Doing chores. Sunny and warm today and tomorrow, then the hammer falls - supposed to be the coldest Thanksgiving in 30 years. Hope to watch the NU-IL game at Wrigley later - they're going to keep switching endzones so offensive only goes west. The eastern goal post is in the stands. LOL.  Good news about Char, and hopefully the promotion, Brutus!

Good evening all,

It was cloudy, but the sun came out for awhile in SE Indiana.  Did get the yard mulched.  Wife and I cleaned house, and we are going to see "Unstoppable" while everyone else is at that movie which features an English train from time to time.  Fife, sorry to hear about the decision you are facing.  We will be down that road in a few years as well. Got an expected but not wanted phone call today.  Friends we visited last week  are in the process of splitting up.  Not sure what we can do except pray they reconcile.  Some medical issues may be involved, but the person affected has to make the appointment for a check up.  Some good news, I think.  Lucas and GF will not be going Amtrak for Thanksgiving.  Her folks could not find tickets to get them back by Sunday so they are looking at Christmas time for travel (after Dec. 25).  Wife is happy with situation and I am relieved there is not a time crunch.  I had waffles and bacon for breakfast on the dining car.  TBIL after the movie and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Lawson - I don't have a dog in the NASCAR hunt, and really don't care for any of the top three.  I'll be pulling for 1, 14, and 43 of course.

More prayers for you guys, Fife.

Enjoying my 2 day weekend.  Played some videogames and visited with Char at the hospital.  I took her some plain sonic burgers she wanted and she ate about half of one, which is good for her.  I'll go back tomorrow and take her some crackers she wanted.  Took kids to Culvers for dinner, then did some grocery shopping.  Then some nice chats with RT and SJ.  Oh, picked up the new OGR magazine, still waiting for the new CTT in the mail.  I only buy the other one when the issue has something really interesting in it.

Tardis is ready and we have Turtle Sundaes from Culvers (frozen custard) as well as popcorn , coke zero, banilla, rootbeer, and Sam Adams.  I think there is still a keg of Old MIlls left too Smile

Evenin All.

What a wasted day ! Today was "garage sale" day, needless to say after getting up a 5am and finishing set up it starts raining & colder than a well digger's tush. Did sell a few things but very few came by. Guess the garage will be a mess for a couple more weeks. Bang Head If the Little Tykes people don't sell I may just make some gondola riders with them. Smile, Wink & Grin

Fife, Sympathies on the pooch, one of the most difficult things to have to do. Sad

Brutus, Good news on the better half ! Thumbs Up I've got a good recipe(re=easy) for "Chicken Corn Chowder" that mite be something that Char could try, thick enuff to be filling w/o being really heavy. If nothing else it mite be something you and the kiddos can have. Holler if you want.

Sunny and low 60's today.  Won't be many more of these this year.  Too bad I was at work.

Fife - Tough desicion. I feel for you.

RI52 - Water exercise in the Carribean?  Sounds like necessary therapy that the insurance ought to pay for.  Wonder if we can get the doctor to perscribe this...........

Back into the plant tomorrow to make some more prototypes.  Going to have to have a discussion with the boss soon about some comp. time.  I'm getting behind with stuff at home.

Ran trains for a bit.  My Marx 666 was reversing directions on its own for some reason.  Was throwing sparks from the wheels too.  Come to think of it, I have not cleaned my track for a while.  Maybe I'd ought to run the track cleaning car next time I'm up there.

All for now.

Hey All,

Been awhile, but really been busy!  As you would guess when we decide to move the company, it gets busier then heck.  But that's OK.

Then last weekend we decided that since I wanted to go to the Cal-Stewart train meet, that  we would take the time off.  And since it cost SOOOOOOO much to get in ($30 for 2 days, (that would include the family w/kids under 21)), but it is still expensive for just 2 people!  Then if you go on Sunday, then its only $15.  Now if you want to sell a table is $35.  So I decided to pop for the table and maybe clear out a lot of stuff.  So did so and here are some pictures.......

"THE" table, I had a friend go with me, that way I was not constrained to the table.  He brought a few items, I think I filled about 90%,  (notice even had a printer there.  Managed a few "pitches" as well.)

A lot of MPC, except the War Bonnet, and Steam up on the shelf are all postwar.

Even brought some AF stuff.  Did sell some, hopefully tomorrow will be better, not that the dealers have all seen what each other has.

Early afternoon, I had the opportunity to take a quick run through the hall.

And of course I was looking for SP RAY.......

He was not to hard to find !  Exactly in front of the hall entrance door, with the Carpet Central.  It of course is all volunteer work, and they do a good job!  The majority of it is running Standard Gauge, because of the ease of viewing and also a rarity for a lot of people.

I asked if he wouldn't like to pose for a photo, and at first he declined.  I suggested it would make a good photo for the Pot.  Soooo  he started for the other sde of the area, and in a flash!   (I mean that ol' man was really bookin' out,.... like a house afire)

It may appear that the photo is blurry, but I wasn't preparred, (note 1/1600th of a second.)

After I caught up to him, amongst the overwhelming GASPS of train collectors ALL around, the Security Guard, Nurse, Ticket Taker, Custodian, Floor Manager, who were all standing at the front door.  And literally HUNDREDS of small children screaming from he horror, and many hiding behind the mothers, the situation began to calm,  somewhat....

Ray of course didn't loose a step, but there was concern that Standard Gauge train was now Z scale.  Ray QUICKLY began to restore the situation as quickly as possible.  (Now even though RAY is a retired ENGINEER from SP, and has been up and down the Tehacapi Curve, Cajon Pass countless times, this was definetly one of the most precious moments. (Maybe, because I had the camera with me?)

To help Ray out, (since I had that printer there, remember?) I went over and printed a couple of 81/2 x 11's, and waited for him to leave the display area, (heh, heh, heh), Devil, then took the pictures over to the guy putting on the whole thing, and asked him IF he could see that Ray got these pictures, as proof, that he WAS able to restore everything back, and no one would know what happened.  He said, "Sure, he would know exactly what to do with them."  So I left them with him.

So, if I am referred to as "Shake N' Bake", I think we may have the "Demo Crusher" here, unless someone has a better idea.

(All in all, it was an unfortunate accident, nothing was harmed, and no one was hurt, (except someone was a little embarrassed, maybe.)  But, talk about someone with a good sense of humor, Ray was able to laugh at himself, (everyone else was, anyway), and he pulled the whole thing off with Dignity.  He also knows about this post, (I think)

Well Don, if he didn't, he does now!  Sounds like a fun time.  Yeah, that is on the expensive side, but it does look like there was plenty to look at and perhaps purchase.  Our closest show is in Atlanta (3hrs away).  They hardly have anything worth seeing.  Mostly either junk, or full retail.

Ray, gotta look out for strange guys carrying cameras!  I am glad that little incident happened on the carpet and not off a table with a 40 inch fall.  Glad you drove the real ones a bit more cautiously too!  It looked like fun.

The cows do have a way of taking down fences.  I think they know it is like  a red light where I live....it is just a suggestion!  If they want what is on the other side, they are going to get it.  While most of the beef in the area is gone to either development or crops, we still have a few down here and they all have the issues with cows and fences.

I am up at o330 for some strange reason, I can't sleep.  Going to head back in as I am still on call.  Got called in yesterday afternoon, but fortunately I was able to finish on the tractor before the call.  Also, I am on camera for the services of both morning and evening.  Need to be able to stay focused.  I have yet to get my January CTT, but still going over December and the OGR.

Take care,
Dennis
