Ray not looking that was 15 years ago

Don I turned it down as figured he might of gotten in trouble and probably had friends there and it might be made tough for me. And told him so but thanked him for his return call

Good morning all,

Don, it has been raining over my way this morning too.  Good day for running trains though because the garage will be cool.

I have been fighting a battle to save my old MTH early (1995 or 1996 Proto 1 F units)  The powered unit has crapped out on the electronics.  Shop says upgrade boards are not available at this time from MTH.  I decided to have them put in just a reverse unit and scrap the boards.  I will have to sacrafice the proto 1 features including horn, bell and auto couplers but I would just like to keep it running.  They are not sure if the headlights will both work or not.  It has a headlight and mars light both.  This would have to be one of my favorite engines.  I might keep my eyes open for another F unit from the same year that I can use on my shell as a replacement.

D.Baker, what kind of upgrades were you doing on the Beeps?.  Sounds like something with Lionel.  Have you ever done a MTH proto 2 upgrade?  I bought the video from Jim Barrett of OGR that shows how if you ever want to see it.

RT, good luck on the job hunting.

Ray

Morning Alll !

Raining here, (can't paint in the rain, ugh).

Navyjack, No offense taken!  Its just that I'm not used to be treated so well, especially around these parts.  I didn't know that Pabst and Natty Bohs were the same, can't say I care much for Pabst and/or Blatz.  Those were both quite popular when I lived in Rockford.

RT, That is a very interesting story you related about the impolite interview!  WELL Done !I would have been impressed with your reply as well!

Jack, Yep the card has pretty much played out.  Can't complain though, but still lots more I would rather be doing, then here at the office.

On the train front, this buddy of mine (Bob), liked my 2 Beeps that I upgraded with TMCC (from ER), and working on put electro-couplers on.  (one half done).  Anyway he goes and buys 3 Beeps then buys the Mini2 Commander from ER, and brings over for me to install.  So, I say OK.  Problem is he didn't buy the sound card option.  So it runs in TMCC but absolutely NO sounds.  He did buy electro couplers for them too.  There has been some changes on the TMCC board, so I talked with ER this morning.  They NO longer have the sound boards (Bob will be very unhappy when he finds that out.)  And asked if they had any info on installing the couplers.  He said no, its pretty much "invent" your own method.  Oh Boy!

So should be fun.

Later All

Aloha all. Catching up after getting a flu shot and going straight into meetings. Nice "ride" home with Brutus and Sir J on the late train. Beautiful day here. Gotta go outside and walk around the block. If I can find the time. Prayers continuing for Brutus' family and others mentioned, including Rich' job hunt.  Read the Nov. CTT on the train in. A good issue.

Job hunt is still on going, interviewer skipped my 10 am phone interview and needed to complete a BUNCH of things after.  Which screwed up my day....and interview was at 3 and only 5 minutes...we'll see how that worked out (he was in a rush...Bang Head).

Rich had one like that about 15 years ago and "just told him sorry to be a bother and thank you for your precious time but i see were not a match as I like a interviewer to at least give me the courteous I'm trying to give you to be here for the interview. I see this isn't a company for me.  Said bye and hung up.

Funny thing got a call from his boss about  a week later asking me to come to work for them as I understood customer service real well.

Yes job market was better then but still rude/ignorance to fly thru an interview is uncalled for. If don't have the time ask if we can do this such n such a time as something has come up.

Good Mornin Ya'll From Rainy and 58 Taxachusetts,

Another inch of rain forecast for today before the front moves out tonight.

Brutus.....I would imagine Char is probably discouraged over this setback as are you and the family.  Perspective is difficult when she and you have been travelling this road for as long as you have.  But this year has been filled with so much progress.  Together, the two of you have taken each of the obstacles as they came and have overcome them all.  Char and you have my continued prayers to sustain you over this one as well.

MikeC......prayers as well for your wife's BIL.

Don......back to work?  I don't know if I should congratulate you or offer my condolences.  From the looks of the pics you posted of you at Ray's, you both were having too much fun.  I didn't see any telltale beer cans in any of the pics, but we KNOW better.  Has playing the sympathy card with the wife run out yet?

Rich.....you have my prayers that your spirits remain positive the job search.

JimmyT.....I was surprised there was not more info forthcoming from the hiring company before they brought you in for the face-to-face interview.  The match wasn't good.  But.........as you and one poster pointed out, there is both risk and opportunity here.  If taking the position provides you with steady work ($ and benefits) and the opportunity for advancement, consider it the bird in the hand with one more remaining in the bush.  If money and benefits are not a compelling consideration at this time, and you feel the position is a dead end and will interfere with continuing your search and landing a position more closely aligned with your background and career goals, turn it down.

Laz......thanks for the pics of the BRO and the links to the pics and the videos.  The fish were big and the water was wild!

Later, gang.

Jack

Good morning guys,

Logging on to let you know I am still alive and kicking.  Sounds like I am the only one going to York this time around.  If anyone is going, I would like to get together for breakfast, lunch dinner or whatever.  Give a shout!

Laz, great fishing pictures.  Don, Nice pics of SP's layout.

All the best to Char.

Good Morning

Sun and maybe 70 today.

Yep it seems like these radio/TV stations can dig up a so called expert for most anything. Common sense will beat these kinds of people every time. I had a nice chat with Doug M and Brutus last nite as Doug rode home on the late train. Cereal for breakfast and a trip to Walmart is done. Let's just see how the day goes from here.....S.J.

Good morning everyone.  Getting ready to turn off the news!  It is tiring hearing all the people in the "Know" telling us what is going to happen, etc.  Besides, have too much to get done before heading in.

Brutus, good to hear Char is getting better.  Will pray for continued progress and for guidance to the medical staff.

Don, glad you are back to a full day.

Rich, hope that job comes through soon.  Does Baltimore require in-city residence?  I know they had preference for in-town hire where I was.

Jim, hope it works out for you too.  The right job is out there.  Pray hard and go where you are guided to.

Well, looks like a great day here.  Hope it is where everyone else is.
God Bless,
Dennis

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  Ok, I can definitely cross soccer goalkeeper off a potential career path.  Ouch, I got pounded 5-2 last night.  Even when I had a fairly good sequence in making a save, a bad decision on getting rid of the ball resulted in a score.  I really felt bad for the team.  Wife learned her brother-in-law is in hospital last night.  They are running a whole slew of tests.  Please keep all concerned in your prayers.  Another long day at work, but there was a bit of levity that enhanced the day.  As this is a family oriented forum, I cannot share the details, but we all had a good and much needed laugh.  Spent a lot of time writing up article on this weekend's soccer tourney for the local paper.  I hope they run with it, and I hope we draw some non-family people to the games as well.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL anytime tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good Evening All !

Glad to hear Char is doing better today! Sure hope it continues!!!

Went to work today for the WHOLE day, did pretty good!  Actually woke up at 4:00 am, Then tonight a friend (Bob) broght over 3 Beeps he wanted me to upgrade with ER's TMCC upgrades, did one, however, having trouble with the lights, hopefully get that resolved tomorrow.  He also has operating couplers, and no idea how to mount them.  Think I will call ER tomorrow.

Thanks everyone for the nice words regarding the scenery!  I'm looking forward to get it hungyy .  (had to watch word choice there. LOL)

Shed activity on a hold due to the weather, doesn't look good for tomorrow either.  Think I've had it for today.  Hope everyone has a great day!

Thanks for the prayers guys, she is doing better on the IV, but the doctors are still trying to agree on the best plan of attack on this liver thing.  We are trying also to get her some leave from her leave bank again.  Dad came through his knee replacement, but has had some stomach problems from the anesthesia, but the pain has been under control so that's good.  Thanks again.

Good evening all,

I just finished some final preparation for tomorrow night's Bible study and balancing our checkbook - now isn't that a combination.  It's pretty funny I still call it the checkbook considering I write about one check a year nowadays.  Also, I keep an Excel document for all my expenditures which are either debit card or cash, and I pay all of my bills online.  I guess some old terminologies will never cease.

Today was great day again weather wise.  Work was fine; spent too much time at the police station though - no, I wasn't arrested Angel.  We had parent-teacher conferences tonight at the older two kids’ school.  Our 9y/o daughter is doing fantastic and will probably be tested for the gifted program later on this year.  Our 7y/o son is smart; however, he does the minimal amount of work necessary.  And sometimes he does not focus or pay attention so well.  We need to come up with a way to motivate him more.  I’m not too worried: both my wife and I were like this for brief periods of our youth and I believe we turned out fine Hmm.

Fife – I actually do Krav Maga (Israeli Military Combatives) to balance out the BJJ pain.  They are both very challenging and yet rewarding.

Good night,

Joe

Jim - Continued prayers for Char; both of thanks and for healing, and for your Dad too.

My bride made some great vegetable soup.  Felt good on a cool overcast day.  Tomorow is the twins birthday, they will be 8 years old.  Man they are growing fast.  We are blessed.

May God bless you all

Good evening everyone.  Ended up not being as bad a day as it could have been.  Got home in a timely manner and now enjoying my family.  Daughter lost her first tooth tonight (helped by a tug from Momma and a piece of thread).  Then I made some roasted rosemary potatoes with shrimp for dinner.  Enjoying a little bull riding on TV with son.  Great to watch, but I certainly don't want him to try it.

I too will not be able to make York, but I hope to again soon.  One can certainly drop a lot of coins up there!  I was being a good boy with the purchases....till Chief found a bunch of things I "had to" have.  Of course, I think I pointed out a number of items for him too.  I think he has more engines than rolling stock.

Take care,
Dennis

Doug, thanks for the kind words about the Disney Station.  At first I had a Lionel Red colored General engine parked with one combine car in front of it.  That looked pretty good too.  I did not really have a place on the layout for the station so I placed it on display where it is now near the layout.

D Baker, hope you are continueing your recovery.  Sounds like you are putting up one of those metal buildings for storage?

Chief and Buckeye, I won't be at York either.  Haven't gone in quite a few years now.  Wish I could go more often.  Always had a good time there.  Will have to be content with our local West Coast large train meet in Pasadena called the Cal Stewart Meet in November each year at the Pasadena Convention Center.  I usually help a friend of mine run trains there on a large floor display (carpet central) as part of a DCS demonstration team.  We also run some live model stationary steam engines.

Mornin' boys.  Allright, gotta ask, Demay, do they add the karate to offset the pain of the "Brazilian"...? Dunce

Brutus - Best wishes.

laz - There's gonna be some very sad vendors at YORK.  Your purchases alone keep them in the black.

LOL FIFE,  Gota save and gve it to the vendors in the spring.  Sooner or later they seem to take all my cash.

Morning all.  It is a beautiful day here....cooler than normal and deep blue sky without a cloud to be seen.  I am on call, had to go and do an emergency case last night...all went well.  I was able to get home before the kids went to bed, so that is a big plus.  Daughter has strep throat and was home yesterday and today.

I will be heading in soon and have a busy day of it.  In all the busy things that life throws our way, it is relaxing to come spend a little time with our friends here.

Brutus, prayer was already lifted for Char.  I will continue to pray for her and the family.  Hope they are able to turn things around quickly and get her home and healthy.

Mike, I wish I had some fantastic news to lift the spirits, but not much to report.  I will have some fun stuff to report soon, but can't do that just yet.

May God Bless each of you and your families.

Perhaps I can start with "my" soccer girls.  Down 5-0 in the last home game, they could have gone quietly, but with 10 minutes to go, they scored an awesome goal to avoid the shutout.  JV lost 7-0.  Long evening of soccer as both teams played the full allotment of time.  Mike C. from Indiana

Aloha all. Sunny and cold. Long but productive meeting last night with the church leadership team. Kept pace on my walk to work with a little girl who skipped the entire way - watched everyone smile as they passed her on the sidewalk. What a great way to start a day! Class tonight. Wish I could get Messenger to conference so I could board the Tardis!.

Sure love looking at layout photos. Ray, I'm like what you did with the Disney station!  Laz, those are great looking fish. After 20 years of planning (20!), our town just opened two former gravel pits (50 ft deep) to catch and release fishing. Lots of fish in there.
