Mornin' boys.  Sniper? Where? Sunny & 48 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  S'posed to squeeze another good day of weather before the bottom drops out, so I'll be slavin' outdoors.  My fingers have been wroked to the bone.  Wifey really has been crackin' that whip.

...there's a mental image for ya. Blindfold

I heard from Brent.  He wasn't backpacking on the Iranian border, nor was he in Chile.  Back-to-back losses by his Nittany Lions and Steelers were just too much on him.

Hello all.

Great news this morning.

My son is soon to be an employee of Chief's favorite railroad. He will report to their training center near Atlanta GA. on the 25th. Thanks guys for all your prayers. We need to continue praying for all those who are still without employment. Son was without work only since Jan.8th. There are many that have been jobless for much longer. I feel blessed that he found work as quick as he did.

Probe, what's the latest on your job search?

Not much on the train front. Just wanted to share the news.

Brutus, Continued prayers for your family.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a dark, 48 degrees. Going up to 70 today with sunshine.

Today is a busy day. I have a few chore and an errand to run. Maybe a nap, this afternoon. Legs are a little stiff from PT, yesterday. Pain is better, as time goes on.

Dining car is here and it's the usual for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Good morning all,

It may be rainy in SE Indiana today.  Last night I was supposed to play in last regular season soccer game.  The organization for the league calls home at 3:30 and says are games are postponed due to overbooking of fields.  So I go to watch "my" soccer girls in their sectional game.  In a perfect world, I show up, they get inspired, they play well and win going away.....  Reality is that I show up, they get inspired, they play well.....and lose 2-0.  For sixty minutes it was 0-0, but two goals in five minutes break everybody's hearts.  At least I was able to watch the game in just a T-shirt and jeans and not wrapped up in ten layers of clothes.  With all the heartache and anguish here on the pot, this was a minor bump in the road.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL anytime tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Greetings from Saint Louis.  Sounds like you are having a good vacation, Doug Thumbs Up

Back to work today, but didn't get a whole lot done.  Some complicated stuff today.  Wife got a PICC line put in for her meds and stuff, no more IVs again, at least for a while.  Tomorrow she will have a liver biopsy test as her numbers are climbing again.  Still only on clear liquids and they intend to give her some nutrition through the IVs, she said.  I haven't been able to visit her since last Friday except on the phone.  I was going to take an hour with lunch and go tomorrow, but sounds like she will be in surgery or recovering, so that might not work out.

Received a preordered Lionel vampire car in the mail today, but that's about all my train news.

Prayers for our loved ones and for all of us here on the site.

Tardis is ready, so let's get moving Smile

Aloha all. I saw Laz said the Bears won. I am fortunately news-less down here though dazzled with sunshine and warmth.  Happy it's thirty degrees nicer than home. Oh well, will be returning soon enough. Got in a couple of conversations because I've been reading the last two CTTs.

Good Evening

80s yesterday 60 today. It's light outside but the family room is dark. The doorwall is boarded up. We ordered 2 windows and a new door. They measured first, ripped everything out, and the new doorwall was an inch and a half too wide. At least the windows fit. Banilla will be ready  for the Tardis trip....S.J.

Greetings Ya'll From Seasonally Cool, cloudy Taxachussetts,

Wifey and I had a great but way too busy 3 day weekend.  Had the whole fam damily over Saturday night for takeout.  I had 1/2 lb. jalopena bacon cheeseburger with chili cheese fries, yummy!  Before dinner I was out at the store, and unasked my son took out the window a/c units for me and stored them in the basement.  The good news is that they are out of the windows and put away before Halloween this year!  The bad news is that the carpeting in the family room, cleaned less than 24 hours before, looks almost as bad as it did before the cleaning.  Son didn't check to make sure there was no water remaining undrained inside the bottom of the unit, and the filthy water promptly drained out onto the light colored carpeting.  This one unit when mounted doesn't have quite the outward tilt it needs to move all of the h2o out the drain holes..  Different year, same problem......wish he'd remember these things since this has happened before to him/us, but he is always in a rush.  I'll have to take remedial measures and get the (large) spots out before the wifey gets the bright idea we should bring the carpet cleaner guy back.

We were on the road very early Sunday AM with Maximus the dog for an obedience match up in Maine, Maximus' first appearance in the competition ring.  He took a pleasantly surprising second place in his class with my wife doing the driving and his breeder watching with a discrimminating eye.  We then made an obedience training class in NH later in the day, drove the last 48 miles home, didn't get home until late.

Up early Monday AM for a family outing at the Topsfield Fair in Topsfield, MA., the oldest continuously running agricultural fair in the U.S.  Perfect Fall in New England weather.  Picture a large and long midway, combination amusement park/agricultural/livestock extravaganza with everything from Clydesdales to live entertainment to demolition derby/figure 8 auto racing, State Police K9 demo, antique tractor pulls, horse pulls, dock diving contest for dogs, elephant-pony--camel rides, petting zoo, shopping, and food out the wazoo.  The heaviest pumpkin contest results:  about 1,675 pounds, short of the standing world's record by 15 pounds (2007 Topsfield Fair).  Think we still have the Guinness world record.  Staggered out of there at nearly 9 PM, long day.

I am so far behind on Pot posts, but I will do my best on the "for those who need prayers" front.  Prayers for those whom I have missed.  8N.....was sorry to hear about train shop owner's little boy with the brain tumor, but I will include him in my prayers along with more for your better half's continuing recovery and last but not least your cranky knee rehab.  Jim/Brutus....glad to hear your dad is home and coming along following his knee surgery, but more important that Char continues to make progress.  She must be both bored and starving to death, so stock up on her favorite sinful foods.  Prayers continue, brother.  MikeC.....prayers continue for your wife's BIL whose challenges are not all behind him.  Rich, JimmyT, and Lee.....hang in there on the job front; the race goes not to the swiftest.

Ray......now that we have seen your picture, we have decided you look too young for your age. Whistling  Cake  Early happy birthday wishes to you and your grandson.....the perfect storm to justify/rationalize/legitimatize some serious train purchases and be able to get away with it. Happy B-Day  Guilting the wife works once in a while.

DougM.....you are in Cabo?  Thought you recently got back from the East Coast beaches and then the Michigan upper peninsula adventure.

Fife.....I fear Brent's silence only can mean one thing, another DIY project snafu.

Laz......your escapades remind me that it is time for a few brewskies and fires in the fireplace while I recover from reading about you moving tons of dirt with a wheelbarrow.  Hope you get germination.

NavyJack.....the breeder started the ball rolling with exacting standards (temperment, health, conformation) and followed it up with training and socialization.  We continued formal training with Maximus at about 13 weeks as we wanted a family dog to fit our lifestyle around our grandchildren and family and friends.  He's a sweet, stable, confident boy but is full of energy to burn.  He's around adults, children, and dogs every week......strangers on all counts.  Over the past year he met and greeted probably 750 kids at Humane Society fundraisers, not to mention the accompanying adults.  Wife and I can't have anything less out of a dog, any dog.  Folks run into trouble with the larger breed dogs when they think all that is needed is vet care, food, water, and shelter.  They never stop to think about their lifestyle, their level of experience, breed standards (what to expect), what's in the particular dog's genes, and the necessary committment of training time right out of the box.  Shelters and rescues are full of people's mistakes.

Gotta run.  Later, gang!!!!

Jack

Good afternoon all,

It is sunny outside and very pleasant; highs in the low 80s the next couple of days.  I just came home from work for a few minutes to watch the baby.  My wife took our 7y/o son to the doctor for a quick check-up.

The wife has been slow-cooking some beans all day and they smell great.  I cannot wait for dinner tonight.

Later,

Joe

Laz, I think we have all lost out being slow on the trigger some time and also getting hit by another sniper.  Sometimes you get the bear, sometimes the bear gets you.

Slow day today but this week is my birthday.  Mine is tomorrow and grandson will have his this coming Sunday.  We will celebrate together on Sunday.

Need to check the shop about my wondering MTH F unit.  Suppose to get a new reverse unit and rip out electronics.  They might be waiting for a reverse unit.  I still have mixed emotions about not upgrading to proto 2 but guess I can always do that later when MTH gets some more kits.

Happy York week to all you lucky guys that can make it this Fall.

Ray

Laz,

The bad part of that was that I was the sniper LOL.  The good thing though is that I am happier with the 332 that I picked up this morning.  Can't wait to get it.

Happy Tuesday!

Just a brief check in.  Job thing rolls on.  Saw a friend of mind I haven't seen in 21 years.  Good times!  Went to the Trenton Devils team introduction/meet n greet, that was fun.

175th Fire Dept. anniversary this Saturday, so I will be busy.  Stop on in if your are in the neighboorhood.  Should be a great parade.

Talked to my Princess last night, miss her bad.  So far so good.

Angel for all that need 'em

Have a great day...

Laz,

Those storms came through here about 9:30 last night as I was waiting for an auction to end on a AF 332AC.  I am suprised that there wasn't a power outage due to how strong those storms were.

Speaking of that 332AC, I lost that one due to a Sniping Fail.Oops - Sign  Went to raise my bid but I was a few seconds too late.  So, I just picked up an earlier 332 a few minutes ago.  Other than the fact that the right number board is missing, it is nice for $280.  Plus, I can run this one without worrying about it while my 332AC is safe on it's shelf.  This will be my first DC engine as well.

JIM,

TOUGH one to loose with a sniper there.  I've lost quite a few things on the bay that way but the good thing is wait long enough and there will be another one.  Good luck next time.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s.  Big game tonight (actually two).  "My" soccer girls take on Lawrenceburg in a sectional game at 7 PM while I take the field at the same time for my regular season ending game, which has major playoff implications for us.  I hate to miss "my" soccer girls, but my team is counting on me being there as well.  If they do, I will be able to watch their second game.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL after the game.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Warm and showers today.  Cold front coming through tomorrow.  Back to fall.

Unnatural for the Lions to win!

Got a suprise win on e-bay yesterday.  Threw in a 'what the heck' sort of bid on a 2 axle magnetraction 200 series Alco motor.  Figured if nothing else, it will be good for parts.

All for now.

Howdy guys - all I got done today was to get the kids to school, work on some paperwork, do the grocery shopping (forgot chicken), and make dinner.

Good evening all,

I enjoyed a nice day off today.  The two older kids still had school (I like to joke that the school is prejudice against Italian-Americans Smile, Wink & Grin) so it was just the wife, baby, and me at home.  We had a nice slow morning and went for a walk after lunch.  The weather was very comfortable.  I spent some time on the layout this afternoon: I switched a couple of sections of track to make for a smoother upgrade and downgrade (no more sparks or stalls in the block); started fabricating a curved girder bridge (the base is wood and the sides will be tin); modified my control panel; and did some city area planning.  All in all I was pleased with the progress.

Mike C. - That is great news.  I won't try to say what Dennis will say; no one says it like him.

S.J. - Glad there were no riots.  Sadly, you're probably right about them not winning anymore.

Time to shower and watch the football game,

Joe

Good afternoon all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s.  Mowed parts of the yard today (where it was high and/or had leaves to mulch).  Did some "honey-do" tasks as well, which went surprisingly smooth.  Stopped by "my" soccer girls practice to wish them in the sectional game.  First one ever I will miss, but I can not let my own team down either.

To all on the pot.  Your prayers may be working far, far, far better than we had a right to expect.  Wife talked to her BIL today.  He sounded lucid and coherent, which is very, very surprising for a person in his situation (according to a doctor friend of the family).  According to the surgeon's 95% of the tumor was removed.  Long term care and prognosis is still awaiting more data, but right now, right here, the situation is much, much better.  Dennis W., there is a line used several times in your movies about giving glory to the Man Upstairs, and please feel free to use the exact phrase in a reply as I do not want to misquote it, but it certainly is appropriate here.  There is a long road ahead, and this story may not have a happy ending, but today's chapter is a good one.  Thank you all for your support as always.

I had waffles and bacon on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL any time tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
