Good evening everyone. Many pages have passed by in the week that I have been gone. Sorry I didn't post about it, but we don't advertise when we are away from the house. Last Friday, after a long day with a number of cases, the family drove down to NASA. We had lunch with one of the Skylab astronauts...way cool! And we also toured Kennedy Space Center as well as the Astronaut Hall of Fame. On Sunday, we boarded the Disney Wonder for a cruise in the caribbean. Went to Nassau, Bahamas and Disney's own island, Castaway Cay. I was hoping to see a NASA freight train, but that didn't happen. Did see the shuttle on Launch Pad #39. I took about 700 photos there and another 500 on the cruise.
Sorry I couldn't take the time to read the back pages to catch up on everyone. I hope everyone is feeling well and that those family members that have been sick are on the mend. Take care and God Bless,Dennis

Evening all
Like Joe got the kids in bed and winding down. Also, like Joe, I don't care for Applebees either. Way too noisy and it seems like it takes forever to get waited on.
Picked up a 768G Oil Supply Depot on ebay with a buy it now. It is the Gulf version of the 768. I have the Shell version but got lucky on the Gulf version. If it is as nice as it looks in the pics I did OK price wise.
Well, I think we are going to get a Honda Oddysse, now to find one we like. We may go and get a 2010. I'll keep the Avalon and sell my Civic to youngest daughter. Going to miss that Civic. Great car.
Going to take Gabriel camping this weekend with the cub scouts. Should be fun. Hopefully the weather will cooperate.
I am off to do some reading then to bed
MAy God bless you
Jim
Good evening all,
Just put the kids to bed and now I am getting ready to wind down for the night. Took the family out to Applebees for dinner tonight. I don't care for that place much, but our daughter picked it and the wife seconded it. Looking forward to Friday.
Not much else is going on (which is nice); I may watch the high school football game on ESPN2 tonight. Abilene, TX, is playing Midland, TX. We used to live in Abilene and those TX folks take their high school football very seriously.
Regards,
Joe
where everyone at its not Friday yet thats tomorrow.
not a lot going on picked up a Lionel train crossing bank NIB at goodwill today for $6.50 for the price couldn't resist this is the one that is run with an adapter from wall plug not batteries,
Was thinking of putting it on ebay but wife say keep it for your train room so probably will.
Bought ERR dc comander for my williams trainmaster and FM railsounds 2 kit from Bill the gentleman that laz hooked us up with about a year ago.
so will probably put in my PRR trainmaster
Hope all doing well. Have a good evening all

Pat.....four drivers win at least 1 race but don't make the final 12 for the Chase because they don't have the points, while six drivers post 0 wins but do make the Chase! One of the four (McMurray) who didn't make the Chase actually won 2 of the 30 races. In fact, one third of the drivers who made the Chase were winless.
Hamlin wins 6 of the 30 races to Gordon's 0 and makes less money.
Johnson and Gordon drive for the same owner but Johnson wins 6 and Gordon is winless. What happened to the Gordon who year after year was the man to beat earlier in his career?

IF IT WON'T COME LOOSE BY TAPPING ON IT, DON'T TRY TO FORCE IT. USE A BIGGER HAMMER.
Jack, you are right about the best part of a NASCAR race is the last 10 laps (maybe the last 30 laps). That is why I watch the races in the train room. I am there to see the occasional confrontation or wreck but most of the time is spent running trains.
I am bored with the dominance of Jimmy Johnson in the cup series. Don't know what can be done about it, but something needs to change.

hello guys hope everyone is ok. did you have a nice bday ray? decided on a 2011 vw jetta auto for wife. lookslike great car and gets 34 mpg. am going to sell most of my train accumulation to pay for it this winter. cant run them anyway. will keep the sets like the mth blue comet, sf lionel super chief etc as too hard to ship. will have to sell about 400 boxed pieces. will ask daughter in law to type adds and take pics. navyjack
Good Morning
Cloudy, damp and chilly. 50/61 today. Could be a good halloween day. No plans for the today so I'll just sit in our dark family room and play PS2 golf. or maybe some trains...S.J.
Or I have 2 CTTs and 1 1/2 TCAs to read.
Morning. Slept late. Raining, Great to see the rain. Turnips growing. Feed plots coming up and growing. State Fair starts at noon in the rain. Should clear by middle of afternoon and stay seasonably cool [for a change]. Had to play with Finn, Lucy and Burg in the house as raining. All wanted to play. Even old Burg. Since he has been on thyroid meds, he has been a new guy. Got meetings from 11 AM thru 2:30 PM [back to back]. Tomorrow AM, I talk to the kindergarden kids. Then the State Fair with wifey [footlong hot dog and the exhibits]. BTW: new item at the fair. Krispy Kreme cheese burger. YES! A cheese burger inside a Krispy Kreme donut.
Later.

Greetings Ya'll From Clear and Sunny Taxachusetts,
Dropped to 39 last night and that seems to be what we can expect more often than not from here on for about 6 months. Back up to the low 60s today. Fall foliage colors at their peak now, stunning. A picture or two may be in order. After the hot and dry Summer, I am surprised that most of the trees here still have about 80% of the leaves still waiting to decorate the ground. Lawn mowing and leaf pickup yesterday for the part that shows....the front and the side. But I plan to hit the back later in the day when the morning dew dries up. I need to drop a coat of Fall fertilizer as well....
Chief.....may I assume the big bucks you are hauling down for your appearances on the big screen have eliminated your need for the SS $? Did you have to get prepped with makeup, a LOT of makeup? Does the camera really add 10 pounds to the appearance, or is more like 30 in your case?
Sorry NASCAR boys. Just a couple of more reasons why I have lost interest in the dumbed down, vanilla, "befuddling rules" motorsport that Nascar has become. Almost makes no sense to watch the whole race because everything happens on the final 10 laps. If the rules made winning a race or a top 3 finish much more valuable than what it is, maybe the guy winning no races over the course of a season but having more top 5s or top 10s wouldn't be the highlight. I can't see the excitement and entertainment value myself, rooting for a driver and a team to finish in the top 5 or 10 week after week.
Later, gang.
fifedog..I agree. Cale Yarbourgh deserves the recognition. What about Daryl Waltrup ?
fifedog Mornin' boys. Overcast and 55 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Will spend day straightening up the trainroom, basement, and garage. Work,work,work... Blueberry - Tony landed the Mobil 1 sponsorship. Can't believe Cale Yarborough was passed up again for the Hall of Fame. submmbob - I saw somewhere that the Milky Way and Andromeda were due to collide, but the article didn't say when. I can say the same about Darrell Waltrip.!
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cool 52 degrees. Going up to 70 today with a chance of rain.
Today is a busy day. Wife is grocery shopping. I am working on a few chores and finishing a small project. Maybe, later, a nap. Not much else new.
Dining car is here for the usual Cheerios breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.

Hi GUYZ,
39 here this morning with rain coming this afternoon. Cleaned big ponds filters and pumps up, took about 1.5 hrs. Then hung up my new BEV DOOLITTLE print called SACRED GROUND. My all time favorite print of a mountain man riding on horse going through a stand of birch trees, camoflauged in the birches are three faces two of eagles(not CHIEFIE) and one of an indian. Look of unwarriness on the mountain man. Pretty cool. Then worked a little on bench work an hour. Its getting there but so is Christmas.
JACK, yepper keep the WIFEY happy thats what I try to do.
BUCKEYE, nice minnows gotta come with me and BRO to NY for big ones. 25-40 lbs.
HAPPY YORK DAY to all attending, hope ROY and JOHN, gives us a report?
CHIEF, WILLOWBY,last call WILLOWBY. Fron the TWILIGHT ZONE!!!! Also where TOM SPANKYBIRD IS FROM.
Stay frosty,

Good morning all,
It may rain in SE Indiana today, but we did get some showers yesterday. NOt much, but any is welcome at this point. Worked out at YMCA last night. I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". TBIL anytime tonight and I can drive. I hope everyone (especially the 33 rescued mine workers in Chile) has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Back at the 'scope for my first full week this season. Getting reading to start observations. Still testing w/ all the computer upgrades.
Other than that things are going ok. Talked to NavyJack a few days ago. Ran the trains for the first time in a while. Need to do that more often. The 2025 really has a great sound on the hardwood floor.
Off to find a pillow.

Now is this the same Willoughby that is in the news about tee shirts with the Stars and Bars on the back and REBEL spelled out??? I guess some Yanks have seen the light. Inquiring minds want to know!!!! I see Ohizo posters but no reply. HUMMM
Off to bed. Sleep tight. Good night.
A busy day at work today, but it was enjoyable. The wife made Terayaki Chicken with rice for dinner tonight and it was very delicious. We had Bible study at the church this evening; meeting with a great group of men in the middle of the week is a great encouragement.

Good night,
Banks,
Congrats to your son on his new job. I am still looking.
Jack,
I don't run it much because the 3/4" motor that I swapped in isn't easy to find or cheap. These motors are usually about $125 for originals or repros. I got lucky on this one last December because the seller didn't know what he had and I got it for around $30. I started on the swap when I got home from work on Christmas Eve around 4pm and worked until I went to church. I got it back together around midnight. As for the difference, think of it like swapping out an I4 for a V8. I was very impressed. I found another video of it lurking on my camera, and I'll post it asap.
The layout reconfig is going nicely, and I'll also post more on that asap.
Happy Birthday Ray,
I'm a few years behind you. My Papy said "The older you get the smarter you get".
Prayers for all in need and especially for those "IN HARMS WAY"
Happy Birthday Ray!!! I know why you are a fan of the SP. What a magnificent railroad.
Back from fishing in Michigan. Caught some minnows that weighed 15-20 pounds.
Awarded a new bridge project and are on the team of one huge bridge project. This huge bridge has lake freighters plying the waters below and an interstate above.
Attende big party tonight at the zoo.
Hope everyone heading to York has a great time. Maybe there will be no snow this year.

R I- I wanted the windows she wanted the door. Called them today and they are bringing a door friday that will fit "from stock". I'll bet it's a door that was made for someones order. Banilla is ready so when Brutus fires up the thingy, come on over this way...S.J.
Jack, lake house internet service is by dialup, cellphone tower or satellite. As Verizon has the best service at that location, I am not in love with Verizon as they ruined Alltel service. Satellite is over $75 per month with some outragious install fee. Now Road Runner [through Time Warner] is now offering a mobile service. Checking it out. Got TW and RR right up the road at County Store wireless. Pain in the butt to go up their and sit in parking lot or go in and put up with their clientle [will say no more about them].
Video with PD officer was fun. She stopped me several times for littering on a street in Town. Camera was with her in the car and then out of the car. Last shot was with me telling this is an example of what happens in NC if you litter. The officer said, "and even you Mayor."
Greetings ya'll From Clear and Sunny Cape Ann Taxachusetts,
Just time for a quick splash and go. We are having some beautiful Fall weather here in New England. Sunny and low 60s today. Approaching the peak color period. Like Fife, the honey-do list will have me doing windows and some yard work today. Re the wives cracking the whip....mine uses a riding crop.
Brutus.....continued prayers for your better half and today's test results; and wishes for a quick recovery for the little one. You aren't a soft touch, are you?
Banks......that is truly great news for your son. No question, he had to beat out a lot of applicants for the job, so he should be pleased. Hope your knee is coming along and that you are able to post some interesting PT pics like Chuck has for us.
MikeC......it is sometimes hard for our youth to take much solace in a disappointing, season-ending loss. Our society has placed so much emphasis on winning that our kids tend to lose sight that it is the effort, doing your best, that is most important. The girls had a successful season in my mind and should be holding their heads high.
Laz.......I have 6 barrel abs, not six pack abs. You will too when you get to be my age. Thanks for the congrats on Maximus' performance in the obedience match Sunday. The wifey was on cloud nine, so I'm happy. I always gave more credence to the pup's street performance and public behavior versus some more formal things like competition. But that is me, whatever makes her happy floats my boat. I'm thinking all of my encouragement and support is worth a stellar train surprise at Christmas from Ms Claus, don't you think?
DougM.....no pics of any of the more interesting beach-goers in Cabo? Or are your photography interests coming under scrutiny and censure on the home front?
Earth to Bob.......hope aliens have not taken aim at the scope and beemed you up for some scientific experiments.
SJ......was not aware you are doing some interior demolition and reconstruction. Was that your idea or the wife's? Or need I ask? Don't ask Brent for any tips, they could be hazzardous to your health.
Chuck..... on your continued dedication at the health club. Your progress in 2010 has been an inspiration to the rest of us who need to do some of the same.
JimmyT......just out of curiosity, why are you worried about running one of your engines too much? There are no uninsured engineers lurking around on your layout. Hope your layout reconfig is coming along nicely.
Brent.....your sports loyalties are admirable but your teams' results are not.
Ray.....is it too soon to ask what you are getting for your birthday? I thought the rest of the California boys would have come up with a few (thousand) suggestions.
Joe.....isn't fatherhood great? You and the wifey are really enjoying this. Grandfatherhood is also great....except for the changing of poo diapers.
Dennis........hope the pace has settled down for you. You've been burning the candle at both ends.
Chief......don't you have access to the Pot out at the lake house? You have fallen off the map.
NavyJack.......can I assume from your posts that the wifey is feeling better? Hope so.
Later, gang!
Good morning all, thank you so much to all my friends here on the Forum. You all made this truly a special day for me with your birthday greetings. I don't think I ever got this many birthday greetings since I was a kid. I am 74 today and as the old saying goes, "if I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself". Thank the Lord for one more year. My youngest brother is always elated when I make one more year because all of the men in the generation that preceeded us never lived this long so my brother figures his longivity is greater for each year I make it. I guess I'm living in uncharted territory. Thanks again guys, I appreciate it.

Home again. Off to shoot video on littering. Happy Birthday Ray and many more.
Aloha all. I could get used to this weather, 75, sunny and going to 90. Glad to not be on the Gulf coast with Hurricane Paula. Prayers for Mrs. Brutus - hope you can see her soon and the biopsy is normal. Great news about your son's employment, Banks! to our biggest SP fan, Ray!
