Hello all

Back at home. The wheel bearing adjustment was successful. Brought back into tolerance w/ no major problems. The engineer who designed the wheels that helped us out is great as is our new mechanic. The right people definitely came together to solve the problem. Our EE is still trying to cause some issues in this, but it's fixed and his fears were not justified.

Here's a pic from the trip to Kitt Peak for the Corvair Club last Saturday. Two members brought other vehicles, but at least they were in the GM family. The Cad is an interesting edition, only one of 18 made. Ron's Greenbrier is missing lights because we just picked it up from the painter's place.

And I was busy on Thursday because I traded in the Jeep on this:

A 2010 Chevy Aveo. Basically a rollerscate, but it gets good mileage, has roll up windows and A/C. With the manual trans it's actually kind of fun to drive. Maybe a Corvaeo?

Thoughts and prayers for Don, NavyJack, and Brutus's wife.

Good luck on the interview Jim T.

Spanky - glad to hear you are okay, falls are scary!  Prayers for Don, 8nt, 8nt's wife, JimSP, Bob, RT, SJ, and all of us and our friends and loved ones.

Tomorrow is a consultation based on the test results from yesterday and the ultrasound from today.  We'll find out if the biopsy is necessary, but it sounds like it will be so.  Dennis - it's a bump, but just was surprising after steady improvement over the last month.  The last week, though, she has had increasing aches and pains and this is apparently part of the symptoms of the liver inflammation.  We'll make it.  Need to check on some paperwork and insurance and this might even get some more of that leave approved, so we shall see.

Glad SJ got some use from those old Trains mags - it's a great subscription, but they pile up fast and I hate to throw stuff like that away Thumbs Up

I talked with SJ on the phone for a few minutes tonight - no world problems solved, but we had some fun.  Peanut butter cookies and banilla are promised, so let's hit the sky road men!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Another nice sunny fall day here.

Good news from the doctor Re. the MRI.  Nosurgery, just physical therapy.  Starts later this week.  Maybe I'll luck out and get a therapist like Chuck's?

About all for now.

Yummmmm, Cookies!  Glad I checked in tonight as lots of information on "Da Gang" to catch up on.  Don, glad you are on the mend.  One thing to watch is kidney function...too much antibiotics can cause problems and the initial infection could cause issues, so if you have any problems with #1, call your doc.

Rich, yeah, I hated times like that, especially because I was young and wanted action.  In the end, our fun came at the expense of someone else.  Had a chief down here when we were filming "Fireproof" who told me a story.  When he was younger, he and a few other guys had made a quick attack and knocked down a house fire.  Felt great that they had stopped it at two rooms and the attic.  While they were giving each other high fives on the front lawn, one of his captains pointed out that the family was watching and this is not the time to celebrate.  I came away humbled.

Fife, we had a conference at our church that goes  through tomorrow.  A couple of the ministers from a church we are sponsoring up in Baltimore were here.  One church is in a suburb of the city, the other is right in the middle of a bad neighborhood.  The one in the inner city is at work on the building and also some area row houses trying to repair decay and neglect.  If you are looking for something meaningful for Fifepup to get involved in, I can find out some information if he would like to help the less fortunate.  I know I have had some life lessons in similar situations.

Brutus, will pray for Char's results and for continued recovery.  We knew there would be some bumps in the road, we just pray that they are only small set backs and that she gets right back on track to full health.

Well, I am tired.  Hope to get some sleep and have another full day of it at church.  I may have to go to the hospital for a short time as we are doing evaluations this week.  I hope not as it would be nice to pick up the kids and have some fun after church is done.

God Bless,
Dennis

It's early but I was in the neighborhood. I did nothing constructive today at all. In fact I wasted a lot of the day on this thing. We do have banilla so when the thingy arrives it will be ready...S.J.

Good Morning,

Back from Dr. Office, seems everything going well.  She reviewed all the ER stuff, then reviewed all their tests performed on computer files.  Said she didn't want to change anything.  Did tell me the blood test revealed that there was bacteria in the blood, and that is what all the shivers and trembling was due to.  Also commented if I would have waited much longer it would have been the paramedics taking me there.  So the big guy was looking out for me.  Then, she commented that, she noticed I started receiving the Golden Eagle checks, and that a heart stress test is goin to be coming up soon. Ick!

Wife won't let me back to work today, so going to follow the examples of other guys on the forum this morning.  Bake me up some cookies, and watch some train videos.

Later

Lunch Time, in Edison, NJ, Rainy and Damp,

Brutus, Prayers for your wife and the procedure work.

Navy Jack, Glad to hear that you and Gigi are doing better. May your son recoup fast. If we ever get your grandson out here, we will take him out for a fishing trip.

Don Baker, Rest up and let the medication do the rest. The heat did not help.

8n, Good luck with the knee.

Green97Probe, Jim, Good luck with the job interview. You deserve it. Be confident and honest.

Mke C, Congrats on the Boy's win. Hopefully the girls will follow and keep the wins going.

Rich, Don't you just hate when you get up in the middle of the night, suit up, get all pumped up, 3/4 of the way to the scene to be recalled. I just get relieved now that nobody is hurt or trapped.

Spank, You should have been at my Safety Huddle this morning. The topic was "HOME SAFETY: SLIPS, TRIPS and FALLS.

Prayers and Thoughts to all in need.

Time to get back to work. Last night I got in after 10. Long, busy day.

Good Morning

We have some for real rain, not storms for a change. The furnace is set on 70 and is running once in awhile. I heat or cool by the house temp, not the calender. Brutus sent some Trains mags and I got CTT and OGR unfinished so I guess this would be a good day for reading....S.J.

Aloha from a sunny and cool Chicago. Glad you're on the mend, Don - continued prayers for you and Mrs. Brutus.  RT, that sounds like a good deal for a/c/furnace maintenance. The big thing with the furnace if you have forced air is not to scrimp on changing the filters. Quite a Bears win last night. It was an entertaining game.

Came across a Lionel General Mills Mini Max from the 70s in my browsing last eve. What a perfect little car for Thomas and his friends. Got to find one or two somewhere.

Jack I have a home warnity thingy so i pay a $60.00 service fee thats it. even if they had to replace the unit. I had them come one time and replace like 3 breakers (and mine are the type for allunimun wiring which are lot more expensive from what I understand as I have allunimun wiring in the house which eventually I'm going to change out mostly myself but have a electriciton come in and hook the main line to the box after he checks out what I have done.

I'm about to pay for a maintence agreement witht he company that came out so for $160 a year they will come out twice a year and clean and service my A/C and if theres any problems they will let me know and I can contact the home warnity and they will all ready have the dianosic to give them.

morning all glad to hear your bacjk on the mends N.J. Hope all is well with char jim and prayers are going out that its all works out fine for you.

Got my leave aproved for the 12 - 19th of October so thats good.

Hope all having a good day will talk to you all later hang in there all.

Good morning all,

No rain yesterday, and IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s.  Good day at work yesterday.  Soccer game for me tonight.  HS boys won an easy game 8-0 last night.  Good to see you back, Don B. Hope you continue to recover.  Dennis, I will look for that movie.  Prayers going out to all who need them.  I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL after the game and I can drive again.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

DonB.......glad you are recovering nicely and are feeling better.  103 is nothing to sneeze at in an adult, and you were smart to take that trip to the ER.  I am apt to try to wait things out, then wind up in an unnecesary worse condition.  The Northern faction suspects that the cause of your condition were the grits Chief stuffed into one of those RR cars that were making their way around the country.

Brutus.......prayers and good thoughts for Char.  Hope she isn't too disappointed about more tests and adjustments.

8n.........good luck with the MRI on the knee.

Dennis.......you're burning the candle at both ends!  You must be related by blood to the Chief.

NavyJack.....glad to hear you are feeling better, following the wife's lead.  But now your son too?  When it rains it pours.  Prayers, brother.

RaySP.......what a nice neighbor, "loaning" you enough electricity to keep the beer cold.

RT.........that was some good news you got on your a/c.  It could have been a lot worse!

Gotta hit the sack.  Later, gang.

Good Evening All !

First things first, I really appreciate all the thoughts, prayers, and good wishes from everyone!  Even received a couple of phone calls, and some emails as well.  I have praised this forum before for the comrade and friendship that abounds on these pages, but the sincerity and good will that is ever present makes this forum the BEST on the web!  I applaud all of you.

There are many more persons here more in need than my small issues.  A case in point; I was looking at a different forum yesterday and came across this thread,

http://modeltrainjournal.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10775

It is a very moving and tender story.

My little saga began last week.  I have been trying to finish this shed I've been working on and wasn't feeling a 100%, then last Thursday evening I noticed  I about 8:00 started with the shivers, and they just kept getting worse.  Finally about 10:30, went to the hospital ER.  They determined I was running a temp of 103, and had a couple of infections.  They kept me there for 5 hours on a IV of a "Super" antibiotic (Levoquin), and until the temp came down.  Sent me home and told to stay down for a couple of days.  So here it is Monday and finally feeling better,  (At least a 7 or 8).  So that be the story.  Do have to admit this 111 degree weather isn't helping any though.

In our own little circle I really hope and Pray that things work well for Cher this next week (Brutus)!!  And, also that the interview goes well on Friday for Jim!  (Remember just be confident, not overly desperate!)

There was another interesting thing I found out!  That Chief's brother also posts on this forum, (Hint: He's from Columbia, SC)

Thanks again for all the concern, its really appreciated!

Don

Wow, this is a chatty bunch these past few days!  Got home a short while ago and finally catching up on email and the forum.  Prayers being said for Don, Brutus' Bride, Bob, and a few others not mentioned.   One of the guys I work with lost his Mother In Law to cancer and they had the visitation yesterday, with the burial today.  I was supposed to be off call and off work as we have a great ReFresh conference at our church.  Anyway, I had to cover for the guy at work and got called in last night.  Got home after 0200 this morning, only to turn around and go back at 0600 for two more cases.  Was  a long day and then had  a short nap and back to church.  It will go through to Wed. night, but has been great to feel the spirit of God working.

Mike, a movie that was just released that one of our guys who worked on the latest project produced is called "Like Dandelion Dust".  It is about adoption, so anyone who has been touched with this great thing, you may want to check it out.  Good movie with a great message.

Earlier, someone stated that their heat came on.  As a precaution, everyone should check out their heating system, or have it checked before the season kicks into high gear.  I remember a number of Oil burner fires caused by blow-back when the systems would start at the beginning of the season.  Between the chance for fires, and the possible carbon monoxide issues, it is well worth it to keep your families safe.

Well, with only a few hours of sleep over the last few days, I have hit my limit.  Hope each of you has a blessed night.
God Bless,
Dennis

Wow.  At least 8 pages of the Pot since I last posted.  Fall weather is arriving.  Lows dipping into the 50's and higs in the mid 70's to mid 80's.  I really like this time of year.

Prayers for recovery, and employment.

I won a 600 series switcher two axle power truck on e-bay tonight.  Upgrade for my #600 MKT.

Had a MRI done on my knee today.  Hopefully, it will shed some light on why it has been swollen and sore for the last 6 weeks.  Got to determine what the problem is before the repair can be made.

My wife is out with the girls tonight, playing bunco (a dice game).  Good sign that she is feeling better.

I got the grout in the hex tile in the bathroom floor this weekend, and about 1/3 of the subway tile up on the walls.  Of course the one tile that got broken was the unique outside corner cove baseboard tile.  Of course it is not a stock item at the local store or their supplier.

Bob - "jacking the building up to service the bearings" is a statement you don't hear every day.

All for now.

Brutus, prayers for a good outcome on your wife's upcoming procedure.

Good afternoon all,  Temp well over 100 today.  We had a power failure at 3:00PM at the height of the heat for today.  New neighbor next door (firefighter) let me hook up to his emergency genererator to keep our refrigerator going.  Wife and I went to the Glendora Library to ride out the heat this afternoon.  Power is back on again now and A/C is really cranking to cool off house again.

Spoke to D.Baker this afternoon.  He is feeling a little better but has a way to go yet.  Say he has a doctor's appointment soon.

Hot dogs and beans tonight unless I get a better offer.  Too hot to cook.

Later,

Ray

Howdy guys - busy day in Brutus land.  Wife's test came back with elevated liver function results.  This is one of the classic types of rejection for her transplant type.  They did some tests today.  Tomorrow they will do an ultrasound and then Thursday more bloodwork.  Depending on all that, she will probably have a surgery next week to do a biopsy - they would have to go in through an artery to get the biopsy they want.  If it is graft versus host, she will be on steroids for a while, but this is not considered life threatening.  She won't be going back to work until this is all settled, though - so we will have to get some paperwork done for that (again).

Tardis will be ready shortly, Mike's driving and the first round is on me.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
