Dennis... Boy did you hit the nail on the head. Tonight I asked for assistance making dinner. Whistling Seems I am unable to do anything by myself. Hmm

Probe - I've been known to push it... last week I pulled in with 1 mile on the miles to go gauge. Cool Drives The Q nuts... I don't know how many times I've been told that if we run out of gas I will be the one pushing the car. Been driving for 23 years and I've never run out of gas. Thumbs Up

 88,

1/4 of a tank is as low as I let it go.  The terror of the PGT's Low Fuel light is almost as unsettling as it's "Flashing Blue Light of ATX Death" O/D Off light.Blindfold  BTW, based on your previous postings about The Q, I took it upon myself to make a small edit to your post.Smile, Wink & Grin

Now you've jinxed yourself, Brent. You sure to run out of gas the next time you are on fumes. I hate getting below half-a-tank, especially in winter when I park the van outside for hours. Hope to run trains tonight as everyone seems to be out of the house.

Afternoon all, back from dentist today.  While in for a cleaning they discovered that I have a loose crown on my right front eye tooth.  This is the second temporary patch job that went bad.  I suspect the dentist will want to do a permanent new crown now.  He was out of town until next Tuesday.   Crown came loose while hygentist was cleaning both times.  Is that a  coinsidence or what?  She claims it was already loose and she did not do it.  Maybe I did it while brushing this morning.

As Rosanne, Rosanna  Dana would say, "it;s always something".

Chief, don't get shot while trying to apprehend illegal deer hunters or whatever.  Let the pros take care of it.

Got call to help wife at the food bank at our church.  Got to run.

Dennis,

                Happpy anniversary.

Brent,

I am the same way as The Q about stopping for gas on the way home.  I pass two gas stations (usually get stuck at the light right next to one and I refuse to do business with the other) on the way home, but I am too lazy to get out and get gas, so I'll go back out after I get home.

Still looking for jobs.  I went to the Career Services people on campus today to get some help.  I need to rewrite my resume.  They finally built a parking garage on campus.  I parked on Level 5, but I noticed a silver 90 or 91 Probe GL on Level 3 on the way up, so I decided to walk instead of using the elevator.Big Smile

Brent, She is single minded, focused on one objective.  I know, doesn't make sense to most, but I do know some folks like that.  My mother used to be like that.  They are great at completing tasks, but Lord help you if you interrupt that task.

Been a good day.  Came home early for some alone time for our anniversary.  After bride gets back with daughter from ballet, we are going to Red Lobster for some vittles.  We will have a bigger celebration with a proper dinner on Saturday.

God Bless,
Dennis

Brent.....my wife doesn't even put gas in the car, says that is MW (men's work); and when she asks me to gas up her car the fuel guage needle is pegged on empty, the low fuel light is on, the distance to empty reads 0 miles, and she is in a hurry to go somewhere.

RIJack is cross site posting again... LOL!

Let me explain...

Last night I posted on FB a conversation between The Q and I... went something like this...

The Q: 'I need to get gas in the Murano'
Me: 'Seriously? It is raining.'
The Q: 'Yes. It is empty.'
We get ready, head out to the car (it has since stopped raining), get in and notice that her cat, Panther, is watching us from the sun room.
The Q starts the car, 'It is FULL!'
Me: 'Well THAT was the fastest trip to the gas station.'

Jack - The Q THINKS I should take her cars to the filling station, fill them up, and pay for the gas. Now she has a 50 mile commute and passes as least 20 gas stations on her way home. One of them is the one that we have to get in the car and go fill up at, so she wastes 45 minutes driving home, then driving back out, then driving back home... I never understood this. I mean seriously she has a PhD. One would THINK she would have realized it would make more sense to stop on the way home, or on the way to work the next day... but NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have stop what I am doing and go get her gas... which she pumps and pays for while I sit in the car... I just drive. Bang Head

Good afternoon, gang!

My training is for the physical test for Baltimore County Fire.  I'm pretty sure I aced the written, expect a call back 10/1, per Chief of Training.  It is a 7 station (6 timed) event, that will qualify you for the interview.  Class of 1/2011 expected to be filled by 12/2010.  Even if I don't get in, I'd really like to make a good showing...and show the young "boots" that this "old guy" has what it takes.  My training is bunker pants, boots and air pack, 1 mile total walk, half of which is up hill.  I'm a little achey, but it's doing the job.  And Laz is correct, it's the pace.  I'm not hustling, by any means.  Maybe by next month I'll hurry it up a bit.

Interview/job fair was good, young lady I spoke with is hopeful she'll find me something.  It's all good right now.

Fire Drill tonight, more PT later...Saturday helping the Dive Club (Mom & Dad are members) clean up the lake in town, then Italian American Festival at Mercer County Park.  Sunday is Plainsboro Fire's 50th Anniversary, I hope we go.  We're Mutual Aid to them and we SHOULD go....

Loving the weather here AGAIN!!

Devils PreSeason Hockey tonight, Yanks play also.  Hey Spank, Go Scarlet Knights!!  All about the Jersey Teams!!

See ya later!

I am the monster in your head...And I thought you'd learn by now, It seems you haven't yet.

Lunch Time at work, in "beautiful" Edison , NJ,

It has been a real busy day today. The show and tell about the "Mobile Command Center" went well. It is a converted 1993 Airstream Mobile Classroom that was neglected for a number of years. Everything is up and running. The group was impressed for the amount of money we spent on it and nothing negative.

R.I. Jack, The NJ State Prison, our garage almost was in the Industrial Park across from the prison.

Banks, I spoke to Navy Jack the other day. Gigi and Jack are ill. Keep them in your prayers.

Spank, Safe trip to NJ.

Rich, Good Luck with the job hunt. This moratorium that we have on hiring stinks.

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.

Hot air from points West and the South are missing us.  Beautiful first day of Fall 2010, 70s today, a bit hazy now.  Mid 80s tomorrow, than back into the 70s for the balance of the week.  Boy do we need rain!  We have an overabundance of acorns production from the oak trees this year in the Northeast, the squirrels will be well-stocked for the Winter.

MikeC......you have us very curious.  Chief.........I didn't get one single tomato from you this year; stop watching "Snipers," put the guns and the vest away, and delegate those issues to guys hired to do it. Spanky.....don't blow that knee out again (from last week).  Rich....I didn't realize you were in such good physical condtion, and good luck on the job front.  SJ......your lawn mowing leaves me feeling guilty, may be forced by your good example and "git er done."  Brent.....my wife doesn't even put gas in the car, says that is MW (men's work); and when she asks me to gas up her car the fuel guage needle is pegged on empty, the low fuel light is on, the distance to empty reads 0 miles, and she is in a hurry to go somewhere.  DougM.....sounds like you get Emanuel (sp ?) back from Obama to run for mayor of ChiTown.  Laz, you have more patience than I, golf is far too frustrating.  Ray.....we know your exhibit will be a hit.  Bob......how are you surviving your Mom's visit?

Later, gang.

Pat

No, means he is a sewer rat.

Found out I did not have to go to early morning meeting.  Can show up and smile at the thingy about 30 minutes before the afternoon meeting.  Both in almost the same location so easy to do.

Hot today.  Suppose to set another record.  Same for tomorrow and Sat.  Cooling Sunday and maybe rain Monday.  Monday afternoon, going to the lake for a few.

Have a good one.  BTW:  equal day and equal night is a few days off.  Called equinox.  Suppose to be now but due to earth's atmosphere, light is bent and so will be a few days later. HUMM  Still hot and not NC fall weather.

PS: where did our full screens go?  Was here the other day, now gone???????

Aloha all. Whew, quite a workout via Laz this morning. Need to take it easy on us. Good mtg at 0-dark-30 with the teen's teachers at the high school - a youthful, dedicated bunch. Good luck with the jobs, Rich.  Boy, I never wanted to test a kelvar vest. The ones I've used sure are heavy and hot. Take care, Chief. I echo Dennis' suggestions to call the good guys when you hear shots.

I love to see 'warbirds' - I live on the approach to our local single-runway airport -  there's a F6F Hellcat and TBM Avenger based there. Nothing louder and more impressive as they blast over the tree-tops. Definitely not Cessnas. Big Smile   I'm glad for your happiness, Mike C.   Hope everyone has a good day - supposed to be super-warm here - last such day for our Illinois fall.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a foggy and dark 70 degrees. We had a big thunderstorm last night. Looks like rain today. Going up to 80.

Today is a busy day. Grocery shopping. Wife loves it in the rain. I have a few chores to do until she comes home. Then, we put everything away. Relax later.

Dining car is here from "Points West". It is Cheerios for breakfast.

Pat... " Digger O'Dell" the Ohio "Friendly Undertaker" has trains underground.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps back in the 90s.

Imagine you have lost something forever.  Imagine the joy you would have when you have it back.  Multiply that by 10,000 and you might come close to what I am feeling.  I wish I could share the details, but I can share the emotion.

I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL after "my" soccer girls' game tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Evening

We had a nice day in the 70s with windows open. It's early but banilla will be ready for the Tardis....S.J.

Not here.  Set new record.  96  About to go into hottest Sept on record.

Hope the vest will stop high powered rounds.  Was the one issued when I had to go up against high powered rifles shooting deer at night.  Glad I never had to test it.  Bad guys always gave up or tried to "ditch" their weapon before getting stopped.

Off to bed.  Meetings tomorrow.

Good evening everyone.  I got home in good time today and was able to do a little cleaning.  Mrs. really likes when I get some doneWink  Tomorrow, we will be celebrating 10 years.  I certainly married above myself.

Rich, be careful out there!  Next, we will be hearing about you hauling two lengths of deuce and a half!  With regard to Baltimore, have some friends who go down to the fire symposiums every year.  One friend is a Dep. Chief in Newark and is also a instructor.  More than likely, he is one of the ones giving the talks.  I know we used to have the IAFF "Olympics", but what are you training for?  Good luck with the job search!

Chief, good luck with clearing the range.  If you hear some shooting and it isn't the good guys, you may want to just give them a call and let them handle things.  The other thing you could do is spread the word that the good guys are welcome and encouraged to come.  If they see someone they don't know belongs there...bring 'em in!

Time for Bed!  Hope y'all have a good night.

Dennis

Good evening all, has been a cool gray day here in sunny California.  Even had a little drizzle this morning.

Found a new printer for my computer today.  Opted for a laser printer to save $ on ink jet cartriges.  Son ordered it for us over internet after we looked at one in a store but they were out of stock.

Old Timer, are you in law inforcement?  Forgive me for asking.  I just wondered with the comments about bullet proof vest.

New neighbor seems to be a perfectionest.  He built a new fence and gate to keep dogs in.  Then he disassembled the whole thing to paint it.  Now I guess he has to rebuild it again.  I don't know why he just didn't paint it after he put it up.  Am I missing something here?  Anyway, he is a nice guy and I'm glad to have good neighbors.

TCA train meet coming up this week end.  A friend of mine and myself were elected to put up a small display layout this month featuring the Southern Pacific which is our theme for the month of September at the show and tell.  Trying to figure out how to carry some stuff without packing it in original boxes.  I always seem to break something like that.

Talk to you later,

Ray

Evening all had a good day moved all the trains from one pile to another so I could clean back there and empty the ashes and all out of fireplace we decided not to use anymore then moved trains back and reorganized and made a lot of room doesn't look like that many anymore but I know better but she doesn't so may be able to add some more with out her thinking I have to many again lol yeah right actually I need to buy some items to build a layout like some tubular switches (thought I had 5 could only find 2 today but didn't really look hard) need 6 total but need to count on how many left and right.

Also need to get some Gar graves 5 rail Standard and O gauge flex track so I can do a oval on the outside of my layout to be that can run either. Just don't have switches or crossover that can handle that. So it will have to be an oval and I prefer the outside oval. been thinking doing the next one in as G and O as gar graves make that also but 4 rail.

Hope all having a good day. Talk to you all later

Banks

Hello all,

Quick stop in at lunch time,

Rockisland,  Meant to include this yesterday and forgot. I toured the Collings Foundation's B17 & B 29 last year. Had a trip to the Airport planned this year and work interfered. That evening I got something even better. The B 29 flew over top of me while I was out in the barnyard. It had to be less than 200 feet high, could see propwash in the grass on top of the hill behind barn. The sound was spectacular. heard it coming over the noise of the tractor and watched in amazement. It was followed by the B17 a little higher and a little farther away but still an awesome sight in the evening sun. Then I saw the P51 in the distance. I don't know why they were so low but it thrilled me to see them in action so close. (I'm about 10 miles from the local airport as the crow flies)

Got Grandson's four wheeler almost together. Will finish tonight and get it running.

Any body hear from Navyjack?

Best get back to work.

Prayers for all who may need them

By the end of WWII,  I believe the P51 was the fastest propeller-driven military aircraft of them all at 450MPH!!!!

News this morning from Sicily.. my Sister-In-Law has been there with family for 3 weeks.  She calls this morning to say, "I lost my passport"

She knows it was not stolen, she saw it last night but cannot find it now.  Family will have to take her from Sicily to Rome to the US Embassy for a replacement.

What a nightmare!
