Good morning everyone,

Doug - Thanks for the information about painting the foam.  Fortunately, I tried it on some small sample pieces and did not lose anything substantial.

SJ - Thanks for answering the volatage question.  I have it hooked up to the 0 - 11 constant posts, which is at the low-end of manual's spectrum.  It lights up and runs great, now I only need to decide whether I want to have the train set it off or not.  I probably will not since my son and I like pushing the buttons.

I'm not sure of the temp right now, but I know it is going to be hot again.  We did not the rain I was hoping for yesterday, and there isn't any on the horizon.  I guess I will have to keep watering the plants myself; they are taking a beating in this heat.

Back to work for now.

Joe

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s.  Stayed up and talked to Lucas past 1 AM this morning.  Then he seemed surprised I took the day off as well.  May be reffing my first youth soccer game of the fall this weekend.  Grass is really dry.  Supposed to be good chance of thunderstorms this week.  I had waffles, sausage and cereal on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL any time tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

I would love to do it. I've been looking for 'work from home' options and the more I think about staying home with the kids the more I'm liking it. Would be a HUGE life-style change for Susan and I because of the lost income... really wish I didn't have the rental property in PA or it would make it so much easier.

We'll see. The comment was made more in jest than anything. Smile

Brent, while retirement may sound good, Chief and others on SS really need us to contribute to the "fund".  Perhaps if we got a special pass from the mayor, we can retire.

Wife is bringing daughter to ballet tonight.  Been a nice day so far, early case, done and home.  Then, wife and I watched "Matrix" on tv.  Picked up the kids, went to vote, and then home for some dinner (Flounder, veggies, rice and garlic bread).

Will be DVRing the show "19 kids and counting" tonight as they are having the episode of when the Duggars came to our local town to participate in the filming of our latest movie.  Should be nice to watch, but we will be sleeping by then.

God Bless,
Dennis

Shockhello guys, hope that you are fine.  it is 98 here today and very humid.  air conditioner is not working.  fan runs but no cold air.  congrats on those who retire.  be thankful for social security.  i spent a career in the service and became disabled.  when i retired(i spent 22.5 years in service) and i started to receive 1/2 pay they take 30 percent disabilty pay out of my retirement (va),  and there is not much left. this is called the disabled veterans tax(dollar for dollar)  maybe govt plans to use this system on civilians also.  p.s. all the time i was in  service i payed into ss also. will look at trains tonight.  navyjack

this system is used on disabled vets only who are rated below 50 percent disabled by va(i am 30 percent and have not walked or got out of bed for ten years), if i had retired from other than the military i would draw both pays.  like the post office, teaching or mcdonalds.  pres promised to end this but did not.  450,000 vets are involved

'Evening Guys!

NavyJack, if it were up to me, retired vets would pay 50% taxes, combat/disabled vets 0%.  And FREE healthcare for their spouses.  Hey, it's only fair...but this "monarchy" is really making a mess mockery mistake of things...

Brent, I retired...but not really..money runs out waaaaay too fast for me....

Have a job interview tomorrow and a sitdown with the temp agency......juuuuust in case.  I won't jump too fast, but if its good enough, I may jump anyway Smile,Wink, & Grin

No calls today...bummer...but there's always tomorrow.  Had a mutual aid yesterday, made the truck and got recalled a mile out of the station.

Was supposed to be in the 90's here today, I was warm about noon time and rolled down the windows in the Miata my BIL is letting me use.....

that's all thats fit to print for now, I'll be checking back later!

I was aware that you were not serious.  Just pointing out the options.  It is becoming more common, with the wife being the biggest earner in some couples it is the obvious choice, but that is not always the deciding factor.  Work from home would be great.

Brent,

          I'll take your job.Smile

Well, I decided to replace the DC in jack on my laptop today.  One afternoon and two broken ZIF connectors later, I am stuck sharing the family desktop from 2001.Thumbs Down  It takes slow to a whole new level.  I am looking for another laptop.  I had a Compaq, but I am not sure if I want another, or if I should switch brands.  Compaq seemed somewhat cheaply built.  Any suggestions?

Sunny & hot again today.  Thermometer in my dashboard said 104 on the drive home tonight.

Taking my wife out in the morning before work for her daily walk.  Much more pleasant than in the evening.

Later, all.

Howdy guys!  Hot and sticky in Saint Louis - glad I'm in the AC.  No Doug on the scope tonight?  Your beacon must be down, bro?!

Watched Clash of the Titans (new version) with the family tonight.  Char loved it!

Nice chats with RT and SJ - I think I solved a problem of the world, but I don't have the power to make it happen, lol!

Brent - I did work-at-home for 3 years and it was okay.  Allowed us to save on daycare costs etc.

Tardis is ready, but SJ has it right now - he'll have to come get us Thumbs Up

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a very humid 74 degrees. Going up to 90 today with a chance of rain.

Today is a busy day. I have an errand to run and chores this morning. Then, I will go work out at the FC.  It's a good thing that place has A/C. The air outside is hard to breathe. Not much new on the train subject.

Dining car rolled in from "Points West" and we will have a Cheerios breakfast.

Y'all have a great Wednesday.

Mornin' Fellas.

Probe - I bought a Gateway from BB and The Q has a Toshiba from BB. Both run Windows7 and neither have A N Y issues. My boss also has a Gateway that he uses both in the office and at home. The three of us all like our laptops for different reasons.

You are simply leaving too many doors open!

and the comment to RT was 'my thoughts exactly' but to get from there to here by train takes 1 day each way... may not be doable for him.

Brent,

Toshiba is one of the brands that I have been looking at, so it is nice to get good feedback on them.  The only thing I don't like about laptops (maybe it is just a HP/Compaq thing?) is what a PITA they are to service.  I was able to glue the ribbons into the broken ZIF connectors, so that will give me some breathing room while looking for a new laptop.  It looks like I may have accidentally zapped my wireless card, but I am using a USB wireless adapter until the replacement arrives.  Thanks for the info on Toshiba.

Aloha all. Can't activate the new iPhone. So I sat with this nice looking thing on the train without being able to do anything with it. Ah well. A project for today. I've already called ATT and been directed to our support and our support sent me back to ATT.  The worst part was missing my fellow 'riders' home last eve. Sorry to have missed the pleasure of your company, gents.

Speaking of laptops, I had a Dell Inspiron for years running Vista Pro with no problems. Now got a Macbook with Office....

Good Morning

Yep the air feels heavy again today, but I'll take it over any winter day. Missed Doug M last night and I was on time too. Did some loop-d-loops with the thingy and a couple guys complained. You would think by now they would know to keep their seat belts fastened. Have a great day....S.J.

Mornin'

Doug, I feel for ya...My Droid is the phone I waited for and it is a waste.  The keys stick and texting is near impossible.  It dials by itself and is very very sensitive to the touch.  I've lost more e-mails that way.  I'll more than likely put my enV back on the plan and sell the Droid....very dissapointed.

I have an ancient Gateway laptop.  The screen goes out every so often, but it is serviceable and does the job.  I am not complaining, just happy I have no issues with it, other than the screen.  I think I'm running windows nt or somethin like that...I don't remember.

My brother and his family are heading to Washington state to visit his in-laws.  I was up at 0430 today, to deliver them to the airport,Banged Head took a nap and heading to my temp appointment soon.  Need to shower and shave and get moving.  Banged Head  Just want to go back to sleep.  Oh, yeah, up for a fire call at 1100 last night didn't help much Smile,Wink, & Grin.  I was told during the run I was too enthusiastic for an "old guy"....Laugh...told the guys to treat me like a probie....that drew a chuckle..

Dennis, I'll get a clear picture of it and change the Avatar, soon.

Sorry we'll miss you RT...I'll just have to get to Columbia again sometime..

Good morning all,

Just taking a quick break from work.  I have to drive back down to OKC for work again today; I don't mind since I should have time to stop by the hobby shop.  I'm not even going to bring up the weather for a while since it will be very hot for the immediate future.  Unlike most, I truly enjoy winter and very cold, snowy weather.  You will only hear me compain in winter if it is not cold enough or snowing.

Probe - We have had a Gateway laptop since Dec 07; it runs Windows Vista.  We have moved twice since then and taken the laptop on many trips.  It works very well and I have not had any issues with it.  I am very pleased it has lasted almost three years, and I will not buy a new laptop until this one craps out.  Conversely, prior to the laptop we had a Compaq desk station and it consistently had problems.  I hope this helps.

Regards,

Joe
