Brent......your confidence and trust in our experience is touching.

The same goes for me.  I have the same confidence and trust in you with those home improvement projects.  Who better to learn from?  Wink

I was going to ask you why you didn't first scribe the crown molding to the shape of the walls in your 4-season addition rather than caulking the gaps.  Then it occured to me that scribing would involve the use of a power tool, and you're too smart to fall for that trap.  BTW.....you didn't get up on a ladder to put the molding up, did you?    Big Smile

Yes I have been up and down the ladder quite often. I stopped using the fibreglass step ladder and only use the Werner adjustable multi-ladder since is has a VERY wide base on both sides. I chose not to scribe because we're talking a 16ft span and I am using MDF crown since it is 12ft up and can't be seen from the floor in any detail. MDF just doesn't take to scribing and coping like real wood.

Funny thing is I found that even though I was injured I could have done the work and have it turn out better than some people with two fully functional arms. I just hope who ever buys the house doesn't have an scrutinizing eye like I do, or we'll be paying someone to fix some bad drywall joints. Sad

Spanky......in many instances, the demonstration of medical necessity, determined by the attending physician (your ortho doc), can get for you an extension of the benefit beyond the standard number of visits.  I'd check with your health insurance plan administrator (at work?) and run this by them for advice on how to proceed.  Your case was not bread and butter, in and out, problem fixed.

Good Evening from the Jersey Shore, it hit 97 today.

The closing ceremony at the NJ State Police Youth Week, aka boot camp, was really great. My son had a great time and he is more determined to become a NJ State Trooper. Most of the kids there said that they have no desire to go into law enforcement and they came there for the experience. Beside the physical training, they were exposed to the many facets of the State Police. They started on the kids hard and loosed up by the second day and they had a blast, but discipline and PT stayed. A number of Cadets left the first day. Everyone got a knickname and my son's was Cowboy and it just so happened that he was the first. He had a Fire Department belt buckle and the instructor saw it and said that he looked like a cowboy with the "large" belt buckle. He also had his chops busted by, who he refered to as the coolest and  biggest cop he ever saw and he was not fat. He looked like Clint Walker. When they were doing a crime scene investigation the instructor named him Barney Fife.

We will be leaving early for a flight to Colorado. We will be gone for the week and I will have limited computer access.

Rich, Take care of yourself and Be Careful.

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.

SP Man/Ray - The technician at the hobby shop I visited today told me MTH products can be very difficult to repair locally

Joe, I guess it depends on which hobby shop you talk to.  I go to one in Burbank California who has done many MTH repairs and upgrades locally.   The only thing I had to send back to MTH was a Z4000 transformer.  My local shop has folks who have taken the training at MTH and are qualified to be an authorized repair station for MTH.

Ray, I may have a fellow interested in attending the Train meets in Arcadia and Pasadena.  He is one of my customers and lives in Chino Hills, (Paul), just getting back into O Scale, and seems to really like DCS.  He has already picked up a TIU, AIU, transformer, and beginner sets. MTH sets.  (I really didn't coax him that much either.)  Anyway I did help him out at the last train show that was at Pomona a couple of months ago.  And told him about the forums, maybe he's lurking about.  Hopefully he will join in, we need another West Coaster.  I will need to sendhim the meet dates, times, and addresses.

Don, the next TCA meet in Arcadia at the Senior Center which is part of Arcadia's city park on Santa Anita Ave. will be on August 28th at 10:00 AM.  I don't think I will be there however because of another committment.  The other club (TTOS) which is a bigger meet and the one who sponsors Cal Stewart in Pasadena holds regular meets at the Masonic Hall on Duarte Road in Arcadia near Santa Anita Ave and Duarte Road.  There will not be a meeting there in August however.  They are having their annual picnic at the Los Angeles Live Steamers in Griffith Park sometime in August.  Their next regular meet will be in September but don't know date yet.

Hi Guys

82 today, got the grass cut and trimmed. Very unusual for grass to be green this time of the year without watering at all. Well 90s next week could change things. Banilla is ready and the beacon is humming so whoever is driving tonight swing on by...S.J.

Evening all. Wow, the skeeters are sure bad. The cutting blade got loose on the mower so I'll stow it for the evening. Was getting 'eaten alive' by the little buggers. Took home a new MacBook Pro laptop before I bring back the 'ol Dell. I think we're almost officially an all-Mac family. Hope everyone is having a pleasant eveningtide.  Ugh, DJ, good luck with your insurer.

Okay I'm confused or I wasn't paying close enough attention.   Why is the Chief in Spain on vacation? Did I miss something?  Why is Iowa have a spelling bee for NC?  Speaking of fish, did I ever tell you about the one that got away ten years ago at Oba Lake?

Currently working on an ARRA Project, that's Stimulus Shovel Ready for you guys in Texas.  Got me two of those big green federal stimulus signs, too.  Each of our signs only costs $1300 installed and that was the low bidder!!

Good evening everyone.  On call and had to stay a little later tonight.  Will have to do rounds this weekend.
Bob, he is a good guy who has been there, done that.
Rich, comes right back to you, don't it?  Glad you are enjoying yourself.
Don, I had been told in the past that the self employed make the hardest bosses....you may prove that wrong!
DJ, check with the surgeon, they may have a work around for that.  Regarding the PT, you can also check with them and see if they would be willing to take a reduced rate.  Many times, it is just a matter of asking.
Brent, I think it is all the agencies trying to get their hands in the till to milk adoptive parents.  We got lucky and just had to do it once, but were close to needing to go back.  Now, most parents going to China can expect a 4 year wait....unless they go special needs.

Kids had their first day of school today.  It was only a half day, but mainly to lay down the rules and get everyone acquainted.  We shall see how Monday goes.

God Bless,
Dennis

Good evening all,

A late post for me.  Spent part of the workday at the firing range.  Expending some ammo is always a nice way to start the weekend.  The rest of the day was paperwork.

Dennis - Because of the heat my son has not been able to get any pitching machine practice in; hopefully things will let up next week.  Hope you kids had a great first day of school.  Ours start on the 25th.

SPMan - Glad you have a knowledgeable MTH tech.  You are right, every shop is different.  I believe the guy was just wanting me to know there may not be too many shops like yours out there.

Good night all,

Joe

Perhaps I was a bit rough on the fine folks of NC when I was referring to the Chief, sorry to the general folks of the Tar Heel state ....   There must be a significant number of folks in the Tar Heel State that would be good citizens to know..... just haven't met them yet.

Well, I started driving again today and it was OK. Tried not to overdue it. The worst is really laughing, coughing, or God forbid, sneezing. A few more radios and old pieces of test equipment will leave tomorrow. A friend will be staying here for a spell so it's given me a reason to straighten up the spare room some more. Train will move to the living room.

Other than that start cleaning up the Jeep this weekend. New windshield on Monday.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a foggy 68 degrees. Sun is trying to break thru. Going up to 84 today with sunshine.

Today is a busy day. Chores to do and paperwork. I am a little stiff from PT yesterday. Did some good walking.

No train time today. Maybe tomorrow.

Dining car is here for the usual breakfast.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Aloha all. Looks like a decent day here - going to spend most of it all dressed up at a bar mitzvah.  Boy, the paperwork to renew kid's passports rivals our adoption paperwork. Mower looks shot. But hopefully I'll have daylight to tinker with it later. Hope to watch over the teen changing filters on the van later too. I like a day where I get my hands dirty.  Smile   Glad Charlie made it north all right.  I just watched Top Gear last night and tried to back up our computers - funny how a 1 TB drive is smaller than a 32 GB drive of a few years ago.

Good morning folks,  Got my car back yesterday and everything is working fine.  My wallet is a lot lighter but that's life.

Local hobby shop thinks my F3 horn blowing constantly is a top board problem.  Will take it in when the spirit moves me.

My son and his family are back from their trip to Lake Tahoe and will pick up the cockateel bird today.  I can't wait!

Have a good weekend all,

You got that right, but he sure keeps it interesting.

We had a really nice day here today. High was 83 and it is down to 80 now with low humidity and a light breeze. It is not to last, to go to 88 tomorrow and into the 90 most of next week. Have a company picnic coming up tomorrow afternoon. Don't have to do anything, just show up, that's the kind of picnic I like.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
