Good Morning from the Jersey Shore, Beautiful Morning, 70 going to 83, plenty of sunshine.

Fife, I guess this wasn't a tag and release. Sounds like a keeper.

The freezers were defrosted at my wife's ice cream shop last night, so it is time to put the ice cream back. After that it is split more fire wood.

Everyone have a great day.

OK, I am going to give it a try and see if it actually posts before they make me re-log in.  Sorry about the hit and run....with regard to others, no, they don't care.  Our car and van both have several door dents from the parking garage at the hospital and other lots.  The Bronco does not as it is high and has diamond plate running boards...if folks hit them, their cars get the damage!

With regard to the couple who lost both sets of parents, yes, they are both strong in Christ and are wonderful people.  No understanding either situation.  The wife's parents supposedly had financial struggles, but they had several properties, etc.  Their is always a better way out than what went down.  Not sure of the situation of the other set of parents....report is not out yet.

We are supposed to have a pool party today for the heart team, but the weather seems to have possible thunderstorms.  Oh well.

Just can't recall all the things I was going to respond to when the site ate my post.
Hope each of you have a great weekend.
God Bless,
Dennis

sun and 80s, everything is drying up.

Granny's home so breakfast was eggs, toast, sausage patty, hash browns and home made applesauce to clear it away. Had a long chat with Brutus and Charlie last nite, bed before 11:30. Unbelieveable he bumped it back up again.....S.J.

Good morning all!

Very busy week this week since I last posted and next week looks no better. Temps completely moderated here and have held steady. A nice 73 this morning. sat outside and read the paper until the sun hit me. Supposed to be 96-97 today and low humidity. Might take the boat out. We have a lake house rented for Labor Day weekend and a big group for wakeboarding and tubing. The gang os looking forward to it.

First HS football game of the season last night. We had a very comfortable lead and then our not so bright coach continued to field a player (who is normally pretty good - I have known him for years) who constantly dropped the ball last night and pulled out a player who was consistently fielding the ball and making good catches and advancing the ball. The later player is one of my son's best friends and a real easy going kid - so we know there was no issue between him and the coaches. So in the end the other team tied it up with the help of our constant mistakes and then won it in sudden death OT. Oh well. Amazing as the other team is gaining and our team is flailing that no adjustments were made. As we too often say - "We snatched defeat from the jaws of victory!"

MichRR714: sorry about your truck. Hope they pay up promptly. Then send them to NC where the chief can work on them. When finished, the Chief will send them to Fifer for a "tune-up."

Hope all are well, have a great day!

Regards, Roy

Smilemy cousin dale is laying in his hospital bed in orlando with a 24 hour caregiver.  he is dieing from an unknown service connected substance.  it is a slow death for him also.  he has been bedridden for 15 years.  he was a major in usa, west point grad. career looked great.  was in charge of a battery of 155mm guns.  the ammo or concussion did in his central nervous system.  we used to play army in the woods behind my cousins house in wisconsin. i wish i was well so i could go and comfort him, but i myself cant even get out of bed. since dale is from a red state he was rated at 100 percent disabled, me who is from a blue state with almost the same symptoms is rated at 30 percent. so much for fairness.  dennis you are a real thoughtfull man to have adopted as you did.  i can only imagine the red tape involved. we have a 96 year auto that will have to be replaced soon and then i will have to worry about the dents also.  an ice cream store sounds neat.  what is banilla? have a great day guys.  p.s. for some reason i cant download pics on my email. navyjack

Long time, no post.  Been super busy getting ready for the opening of school.  Nothing much on the train front except that I registered for York.  Used the online registration, couldn't have been simpler.

Going in to work for a few hours to tie up some loose ends before the fun starts on Tuesday (students come back).

Take care,

Mitch

Good Evening from the Jersey Shore,

It has been a great day. We did not slit much wood, but my son and i repaired the wood cribs, seviced the 3 chains saws, I was then sumoned over by a neighbor who is going to the Brooks and Dunn Concert at the Arts Center for a tailgate party since they can't have them there no more. All that I have to say is that I have some great neighbors. By the way they are going to the concert in a rented party bus, We are making dinner for all across the street at my daughter"s house now.

Navyjack, My prayers and thoughts for your cousin and you my friend are definitely a victim of beaurocacy ( I hope that I spelled it right, in other words screwed over.). Banilla is vanilla ice cream but the term Banilla came from SJ's grandson.

Good afternoon all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s.  Wife and I watched "It's Complicated" last night.  Good acting, different kind of plot, and in the end, I wonder if there was a happy ending for anybody.  Had a good dessert from Frisch's to enjoy the show.  I just had one game to ref today.  It was 6-2, but a lot more competitive than the score indicated.  IRL is at Chicago tonight.  All my favorites are starting in the back.  I had bacon and English muffins for brakfast this morning on the dining car as it rolled in from "Points East".  TBIL anytime and I can drive.  I hope everyone (especially SFR and AJF teams ) have a good day.

Aloha and good evening. Back from our whirlwind drive to Ohio: 5 hours to TIffin, unloaded the daughter, then 6 hours back. Crossed a lot of train tracks Smile

Sorry for your morning, Charlie. Even sorrier to hear about your cousins' loss, Dennis. Sure was busy around the speedway in Joliet, Mike

Good evening all,

Great race in Chicagoland.  Vitor led.  Sarah led and got major air time during and after the race.  Ok, Team Red won with Mr. Judd again (thankfully no Ashley this time), but Wheldon was second and Team Andretti was 3-5 with Marco, Ryan and Tony.  Sarah was 15th (only one spot behind the Princess) and Vitor was 9th which should move him up majorly in points.  Mostly a good evening.

Good evening all,

Had a great Saturday.  Took the two older kids to Lowes for the Build and Grow workshop.  This week the kids built schoolbuses. If you have kids who are 6 and older you should look into this program.  There is usually one every other Saturday and it is free.  The kits the kids put together are not the greatest, but it is something they can do themselves and gain some modeling-type experience.

After Lowes, we had lunch and then ran some errands as a family.  We went to Hobby Lobby so my wife and daughter could look at fabric.  My sons and I look at train items: I picked up some gray acrylic paint and Woodland Scenics polyfiber.  Then we perused their many aisles of Christmas items.  It's hard to believe they have all that stuff out already.

Time for bed, I need to get up early and drive a subordinate to the airport in OK city.  It is a 3-hour roundtrip and I want to get back in time for church.

Good night,

Joe

Good night all.  Busy day.  Disked garden and sowed turnips.  Now need rain.  Got haircut, did several "town" phone conversations and then fed deer [corn and apples].  Speaking of apples, got tons on the one tree I have.  Been reclinerizing for most of evening.  Sleep tight.

Banks, hope you got reply.  Replies came up different than use to seeing.  I had been contemplating the answer to your question.

Mornin' boys.  Pretty morning here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Steaks on grill last night, then watched sunset with my folks.  Didn't hear from Rich.  RAVENS won.  O's won.

Gotta get down to layout and take some pics of my "New Arrival".  Do a little laundry, then wifey wants to sail.

Stay foamy. Pirate

Lazy day for me.  Just buming around.  Debating on what to do for lunch. Confused  Wifey gone to sisters and her pool.  No lake house until Thursday.  Frankie and his Wifey are there.  Hope all have a great week.  May run trains as back to the 90's outside.  Later.

Good Mornin' Ya'll from Clear and Sunny Cape Ann Taxachusetts,

86 now and into the 90s for later today and perhaps 3 more days to come.  "Evacuated" the attic air using the whole house fan and then turned on the a/c to cool things down as much as possible at 6 AM this morning.  So it's now the defensive "hold the temps" in the house for the duration of the day.

Drove up to Maine yesterday AM to help out friends and a family with a huge yard sale.  As I posted about a month ago, my wife and I lost a close friend suddenly and without warning.....and her family needs a lot of help sorting through things and clearing out the homestead.  It was sad to see a long and giving life reduced to a yard sale.

Came home and then took the son and the whole family out for his 30th birthday dinner last night down into East Boston.  Ribs!  Leftovers should tide us over today but will need to pick up some ice cream. Yum!  Dinner

Off to NH for more Maximus dog training later this afternoon.

Later gang.

Jack.

Good Morning From The Jersey Shore, Sunny, 88 going to 93.

Just got back from the Vol. Fire Co. Coin Toss. We had a decent turn out, decided to have it for a 1/2 day, and we did ok money wise.

Planning on relaxing the rest of the day, and having a BBQ later with the family and some neighbors. Maybe I will wash the pickup and the Explorer. Maybe.

Chief, Thanks for the link to Blue. I am going to check it out.

Navyjack, The last thing train item that I bought was a Lionel LW 125 watt rebuilt Transformer. Nothing cool , I did not really need it, but I always like the way that they look.

Everyone enjoy the day, Thoughts and Prayers to all in need, may your favorite teams win and your favorite driver take the checkered flag.

Hmmm, these ads are making me consider going to Trainfest up in MILW this year.

Doug,

I think you really should consider coming up for Trainfest.  It isn't that far from you and its great fun.  You will see many club layouts and lots of manufacturers reps.  There are plenty of vendors as well.

Here are a few photos of previous years.

A Brute showed up last year.

My primary interest is tinplate, but all gauges are represented.  There is a train you can ride on  that is very popular with kids and a garden scale train on the floor that is popular with them as well.

I have gone for about 10 years now, and I plan on going this year too.

Afternoon All.

NWFlyer, Wow, you're actually allowed to take photos in there ! He says with tongue firmly planted in cheek. Whistling

Jack, When my Step-mom passed, we each saved a few momentos that were special to each one and the rest was given to Habitat for Humanity & Salvation Army. Dad had earlier given me my Grandfather's pocket watch from his time with the L&N RR as a conductor and Dad's pocket knife was one of the items I chose.

Been a real bad week here on the "pot", God willing these tragedies will bring those folks closer together and strengthen their bond. Angel

Friday's run went well, no pile-ups. Last nite was the 3railers "End of Summer B-B-Q" at the museum. Club furnished burgers/dogs/fixins and the members were asked to bring a dish to share. I took a variety of Breyer's Ice Cream, 2each of french banilla & chocolate, a neapolitan and a banilla fudge marble. When ya got cake you almost gotta have ice cream. Happily there was very little leftover.

MotherNature has finally co-operated and given us a reprieve on the weather, getting winds off the ocean now so the temps have really dropped since friday afternoon. Almost noon and only 76, Approve . After all that 100+ weather this is NICE, hate to see the electric bill.

Later all.

Good afternoon all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s.  Still enjoying memories of last night's race.  I will be at Kentucky Speedway this weekend and if the same thing happens there, my voice will be totally and absolutely gone.  Underfunded, older chassis Sarah was holding her own with the big money teams until she had to stop for fuel.  A couple of breaks and she could have had a top 10.  Can't wait.  And Vitor drove a heckuva race.  Two broken wings, a lap down, and still comes back to finish 9th less than a second behind the leader.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast as it rolled in from "Points East".  TBIL anytime and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Evening all!

Guess we will wait and see what the new forum software brings.

Weather still nice here. 95 today. Grilled some tilapia out on the patio. It was great if I must say so myself! Tilapia and trout are two fish that my son will eat. Daughter still only eats shrimp and will not try anything else.

Navyjack - prayers for your cousin. BTW - I have tried to respond to your e-mail to me and also noted in a previous post that I tried to respond. Drop me a line when you can.

Very busy week this coming week. Hope everyone has a great week! "See" youz giz Wed?

Good evening everyone.  Was a good day with church and all.  I was on camera again which is fine, but you don't get the whole message as we hear both the pastor and the media director.  I will get the DVD and hear the whole message this week.

Heard a good one:  You can't prevent the lies that some people will tell about you, but you can stop the truths that they tell.  That is some old time wisdom.

Had a bad headache this afternoon.  Took some meds and had a nap.  Good enough to go back for this evening service.  Also, spoke with the guy who lost both his in-laws and his parents this month.  He really lifted my spirits with his attitude towards things.  Someone who sure has things hard right now and yet they lift you up.....humbling.

I am off call tomorrow, but have two hearts to do.  Then, there are a few interviews that I am supposedly going to be doing for the movie.  I have no idea who for, but should be interesting.  Will keep me busy so I will not have time to miss the forum.  Looking forward to the latest and greatest, and hope no issues.  Glad they are able to keep the old threads.

Hope each of you is blessed this week.
Dennis
