Was at AC Moore today and noticed the Pennsylvania Flyer set for 150.00 .Only bought a small wooden box to make a jewelry box for my daughters American Girl dolls and a few other in expensive kid items. Got a 40% off coupon at the check out but one of the excluded items was electric trains. They usaully dont sell electric trains and I think those sets were left overs from last Christmas.Hope to get some train time this weekend but it doesnt look promising.Disapprove

NPR NEWS FLASH.  Yankee attack.  Seems some Southern States [including some of NC] have received eggs from IOWAY with salmonella.  Anyone with common sense would not eat eggs from Ioway.   I am sure they were smuggled in and marked as eggs from a Southern State.

 Hello all

Finally made some time to sit down and catch up on the Coffee Pot. Been a busy week w/ doctors appointments and other activities. Walked 5 miles in the Phoenix area Monday between 2 and 4 PM to get gas for my friends VW. My coveralls have salt encrustations on them. But it passed emissions and  runs better than it ever has in 14 years. Now to my own automotive projects...

I have a friend staying w/ me for a bit, so the train has moved out to the living room. Politics at work is about the same I go back on Sunday for a few days. Fairly recovered from the surgery, just some internals adjusting to the new arrangements.

Other than the fact that it's hotter than a two dollar pistol here, things are going OK.

Evenin' All.

Kinda felt a bit lost today with no museum, but me and the munchkin had lots of fun. We were playing "hide-n-seek" until he saw the new halloween sfuff I picked-up last week. Needless to say Thomas is sharing some space with Frankie, Drac and Friends for a bit.

My Santa Fe U23B came back from Atlas, now it runs smooooth as silk.

Hope all have a good day at Fife's place tomorrow, what happens there stays there. Unless of course it is really scandalous, then we all want to know. Big Smile

Sounds as though those on the mend are doing well. Angel

Check back later.

Submmbob - good to hear your continued "on the mend" news!

Chief - looks like NC needs to "beef" up border security a bit eh?

Have a great evening all!

Good evening all,

Thunderstorms are overhead now - I knew it would happen since I watered the plants a little longer tonight.  There was no hint of rain or storms on the radar until I did that.

Otherwise tonight was a pretty quiet evening.  Took the kids out for gelatto and even had some myself - sorry S.J., my Italian heritage has me biased in favor of gelatto over banilla sometimes.

That's all for tonight.

Sunny and mid 90's today.  Thunder & lightening tonight, seems to have cooled things off somewhat. Probably canceled out the grandstand concert at the State Fair tonight - I think it is the same act that got canceled by rain last year too.

Brutus - Got my wife a Nook for Christmas last year.  She is very happy with it.  Also has a good selection of available titles.

Finally got the H.R. folks at work to 'fess up that I was transferred to Corporate effective Aug. 1.  Now, if they would have just told me and my affected bosses........

Drywall finishing and some cement board to put down this weekend to get ready for the tiles that arrive next week.  Guess that means I'll be forced to buy a tile saw too Big Smile

All for now.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 72 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Fifedom is all ready for guests.  Wifey treated me to Outback last night.  Is there anything better than Fosters served in a chilled mug...really?  Came home and girls challenged fifedad to a game of night badmitton.  After 4 mugs of Fosters, dad was lucky to see the danged birdie, let alone smack the bles-sed thing back over the net.  It was a romp.  They can't feel good about it.

Everybody be safe travelin' today.

Lawson Farms - Caught the end of the Nationwide race last night.  Now I see why you love Kyle Busch.  He is wildly popular in the states of Virginia/Tennessee.  It was heart-warming seeing all the fans standing up and telling Kyle he was number "1" at the finish line.

Looks like everyone is jumping on your band wagon. Big Smile

On the eggs, doesn't cooking them kill the salmonella? Just stay away from Caesar Salads.

Chuck - Enjoy the race. I can't stay awake for the night ones.

Fifedog - "Said the Blond to the Sailor".Whistling

Navyjack - I have other John Deere stuff but no place to run or display them. Guess I need to add on to the train bldg or put up another bldg.

Brutus - Thanks for the kind words. The high 2nd level will be lowered.

RT - No place at the moment to put the NASCAR stuff. See Navyjack above.

Chief - Thank you. Takes one to know one!

LawsonFarms - 18 Bandwagon Whistling  Not in this lifetime.

As for your NASCAR trains, Hawthorne Village sokd a false front raceway a few years ago (either NASCAR or Dale Sr themed).  Would be kinda cool to have one in a back corner, with a "display" train parked out front.  Hey, CSX rolls right next to back stretch at Martinsville...

Morning all.  Off to the lake in a few.  [finally]  Not going to funeral in Greensboro tomorrow.  SIL's Hubby's brother killed himself.  Was former NCSU football player when Lou Holtz had the national title team.  Sad.  Got to go deliver "miss ordered" indoor cottage shuttlers [again] to Lowes and tell them to stick them.  No more business with Lowes except in emergency [no HD in Henderson NC which is closest to lake house].  Lowes screwed this up twice and all they say is, "I'm sorry."  We have HD right across the street from Lowes, here.  May not be back until Wednesday night.

On the eggs.  Notice the over the hill blow hard retired band leader has not posted on the Pot [but has else where].  I think he is behind this.  Whistling

Have a good one.

Morning' Boys,

Another great day in the Garden State.  Looking forward to the trip South, just over the Mason Dixon.

Going to run out to the local cycle place and look around, the prognosis on the HD is not real good right now.

Helped put our new Rescue truck back in service yesterday afternoon.  The Chief gave me a Thumbs Up, looks like you CAN train an old dog new tricks...just trying to show the new guys THIS old guy can hang with 'em.

On a sad note, one of our firefighters is in the hospital, he lost a buddy and his left leg in a motorcycle accident on Tuesday.  We're having a blood drive for him on Monday.  If you could keep FF. Mark Kramer in your prayers.

OK, off to get some stuff done...we'll some of ya later, otherwise be back tomorrow!

Chief, condolences to your SIL's family.  That is awful news.  Prayers.

Pat, a belated atta boy regarding your layout.  Nice looking pictures of houses when enlarged the photo so I could see it better.  Looks like you have plenty of cows.  I like the burning house too.  Does it come that way or did you make it?

I'm suffering electronic problems again with MTH trains.  Won't bore you with the details.  I'll just say, the reason I don't buy many new trains is because I spend too much keeping the old ones running.

Have a good week end all,

Ray

Thanks Ray. The burning house is a MTH issue. It has smoke and flames, but not turned on when I took the picture. Raising calves is how I support my train habit.Big Smile

Good afternoon all,

It's been a pretty easy Saturday so far.  The only work I've done is hosed down and swept the back porch.  Today's high is about 100 so I won't be going back out anytime soon.  My daughter is at a back to school tea party at our church and my wife is doing some shopping.  It's just the boys here right now.  We've been playing Wii and relaxing.  In a little while, my 7y/o son and I will make a Hobby Lobby and Lowe's run.  I would really like to do some work on the layout today, but we'll see if the heat allows it.  There is also a town fair (Sooner celebration) in a town about 7 miles away we might attend.  They will have fireworks once it's dark.
