Wow, what a day. Went to an ordination for a friend from church at the cathedral in Phoenix, and found out from her on arriving that our recently retired priest of 25 years passed away suddenly this morning. I've known him since 1987 and Gordon has helped me thru some tough times. Just saw him a few weeks ago and other than more gray seemed the guy I met as as confused college student. Our interim priest's last Sunday is tomorrow and we have called a new priest to start in September. The service today will be interesting. Was hoping to talk to him about some of the issues I'm dealing w/ now.

NavyJack - Anti-lock brakes can be sensitive to changes. May just need to be reset, but as Doug said best to dump the codes and see exactly what the fault is. More important the making the car go, is making it whoah...

8N - like the Buick Al V8 in the MGA. They put that engine in an MGB-V8 version for a few years, but of course it never came here.

On the way to Phoenix saw two NS engines on the UP line. What's up w/ that? Also saw the UP special train, complete w/ bay window obs being towed by two UP diesels.

80's and sunny today.

Went into work for the morning - my try out presses are still broken, so I grabbed time on one of the production press while the grabbing was good.

Brisket sandwich and cowboy chips for lunch, wife had 1/4 BBQ chicken, then we visited all of the pharmicies in town looking for the proper iron supplement she needs to take to get ready for her upcoming back surgery.  Ended up having to order some.

Hung the last piece of cement board and some drywall.  About two more pieces of drywall to go to get the job finished - finally.

Train stuff - just waiting on my e-bay refugees to arrive.

All for now.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s.  Did some housework, restained some of the outdoor equipment (mostly decking), and took saucy wench wandering around Indiana.  Went on two state roads (11 and 446) that we had been on before.  She was ok with it as long as we wound up in Bloomington to visit daughter and grandson (son-in-law on Guard duty).  Had a nice visit and ate at SteaknShake.  It was a good day.  Friday was good day at work and mowed most of the yard Friday night (Lucas finished up Saturday morning).  I had pancakes and sausage on the dining car for breakfast.  TBIL anytime.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Nice day in Saint Louis.  Slept in a little bit, watched a bad movie about half-way and then deleted it from the dvr (The House Where Evil Dwelt or something - bad ghost movie), then worked on computers with my sister and bro-in-law for a few hours.  Ended up at the comic book store and then out to eat with the family at Steak and Shake.  Just watched What's New Pussycat and trying to talk RT into coming over tomorrow to help with the trains Laugh

Aloha all. Made it to Hilton Head island. Dodged downpours amid heavy traffic. Apparently, whenever there is a car by the side of the road on I-26, everyone has to stop to look. That's probably because there's nothing but red dirt and kudzu to look at for 400 miles.

Good evening all,

Still at the hospital with wife and son so this will be brief.  We should all be able to go home tomorrow.  Thanks to all for the kind words and congratulations.

RI Jack - That was a great list of reasons.  Fortunately, my wife is seeing me teach our 7 y/o about trains so I believe she already expects a "First Train Set" this Christmas.

Have a great night all.

Regards,

Joe

Joe, congratulations!  Glad to hear Momma and Baby are well.
Been real busy lately, so have not had time to check in here.  Today was long with plenty of honey-dos to catch up on.  Got lawn mowed and cut down some trees.  I have not touched the trains lately, but that is about to change.  I am on call this week, but with any luck, I will get some train time in.  Not sure where to pick up with the layout.

Currently reading a great book called "Anchor Man" by Steve Farrar.  Lots of great information on being a better father and husband.  I hope to be proud of the way my son turns out and the only way that is going to happen is by being a good example.

Hope everyone has been doing well.  Sorry that I have not been able to keep up with everyone here.  I hope to be better at checking in.  Really miss the conversations and friendship shared here.

God Bless,
Dennis

Hi Ya'll From Thunder/Lightening/Torrents Taxachusetts,

Been praying for rain for a few weeks now.  Apparently someone upstairs got the message.  It's dark and pouring out right now.  Over 1 inch forecast, but the way it is coming down we may exceed that.  Wish it were a soaking rain as too much will run off, but I'll take it!  Wife wants me to go outside and grill steaks in this downpour.   Banged Head   Does that ever happen to you?  HMMMMM, a metal gas grill.  I think she may want me to get struck by lightening and then blown up!

I have to make an airport run later to drop off family for a flight out.  Guess they can expect some flight delays.

Stay frosty as Laz would say.

MichRR - That's a pretty good day, Charlie.  While at Williamsburg, kept seeing promos for Michigan tourism, and fishing appeared to be the center of attention.  Truth in advertising...?

Strangely enuff those have really seen a lot of air time here as well, needless to say my first thought was the "Uuppers"(sp?) and "Deer Camp" comedy skits from some years back. Big Smile

Picked up a really nice Atlas SF, Blue & Yellow, U-23B from the OGR Buy/Sell Board for a really nice price. Found a good buy on da bay for a matching caboose from the folk's who took over Glenn's in Akron. If the U runs as well as the Atlas GP-15's I'll be a very happy camper, test run on the ceiling track was good.

NavyJack, It may just need to be reset, but by all means a readout should be done to confirm.

Smilehere i am asking for your kind advice again guys. on wifes 96 hyundai elantra, a friend did brake job about three weeks ago.  brakes have worked fine.  day before yesterday, red brake light went on on dash.  brakes continue to work fine.  any ideas?  a friend says it might be a sensor problem. brake job was a back-alley one.  when brakes are applied, brake light on dash goes off.  rt, sounds like you should only buy like new from established dealers like trainz.  some guys are just out to make a buck.  they do not love trains for the reasons we do. sbmmbob, your mgbgt looks great.  i had forgotten they made that model.  anyone own an opel manta gt?  navyjack

Good Morning from the Jersey Shore, 79, high humidity and thunder storms predicted, none as of yet.

We did not go fishing today because of the forecast, that did not arrive yet. They are to our East.

Fife, My son has been wanting to be a NJ State Trooper since he was young. His back up is being a local Officer and his third is to be a lineman or towerman where I work. He is 17 and he is a Cadet member of the Vol. Fire Co., he will be 18 in November and he will then become a Regular Member of the Fire Co. He drills with our Technical Rescue Team and loves High Angle Rescue. No fear of heights. His grades are good in school and he was on the Honor Roll, but missed it by 2 points in Chemistry.

Doug, For some reason they do seem to go hand in hand.

Brutus, My wife bought me the Skil leveler. Works great, after my son and son in law talked me into using it. They say that I am old school.

RT, You are not saying that Brutus has hidden motives for helping his sister with the computer.

We are heading off to my Mom's today to help her celebrate her 81st Birthday.

Everyone have a GREAT DAY.

Thoughts and Prayers for all in need.

Mornin' boys.  Mornin' English.  Rainy and 75 (and way too humid) here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Getting caught up on laundry right now, then hope to go down to the dock (where it is peaceful) and work on a resume.  Have a cookout later on to go to.

Big congrats Joe!  I'll bet you are all exhausted!  Thanks for keeping us up-to-date Smile

Well, no OT tomorrow, but have to take that computer to my sister's house and set it up with her hubby.  Then (I hope) he'll come back to my house and help me move two big desks out of the basement.

Now I see why you wanted me to skip OT and help you pack some trains up Whistling

Well, no OT tomorrow, but have to take that computer to my sister's house and set it up with her hubby.  Then (I hope) he'll come back to my house and help me move two big desks out of the basement.

I picked up a SKIL laser level - going to use it in the front hallway to put up some shelves on the opposite wall from the ones we did before.  Then, I'll use it eventually to do drop ceilings in the playroom, bathroom, hall, entryway, and bedroom in the basement.  I hope this one works out - it was not expensive, but it is not self-leveling, so will have to take some time to make sure I set it up right.

Banilla sounds great - let's get it going, men!  Beacons on Thumbs Up

Fife, Welcome back and I am glad that you had a good trip. The last time we went to Williamsburg it was in the middle of a heat wave. We had a good time also. Come to think of it my wife conned me into a new rec room set and a time share.

Jack, I told my wife about the collar. She stopped home and was headed back to the store. She looked at the post real quick, scrolled down, read the reasons for the train set and asked me if you and I went to the same school for "logical reasoning". She said,"You train guys think alike and I bet that he has an old car in the garage." I asked her how she knew. She shook her head as she left and said that we are all alike. I think that we were married too long.

Hey, heard my name.  Whatever it is, I'm in. Captain

Well, back above the Potomac.  Raid successful.  We "liberated" a plethora of stuffed animals and YANKEE CANDLES from the hamlet of Williamsburg.  We negotiated thru the 105 temps on Tues-Wed, and no one got burnt, nor sick.  The CSX line to Newport News was pretty active during our stay, and it is still cool to see the old C&O signals in place.

Now to get caught up...

Good Evening from the Jersey Shore, 80 with scattered thunder storms.

We went fishing at 5:30 this morning. A lot of Fluke/Flounder but just under the legal limit of 18".

Joe, Congratulations on the Baby boy. I am glad to know that Mom and Him are doing well.

Jack, Brent and Banks, I am going to look into the collar. I may get push back from my wife and son.

Banks, Good Luck on the colooscopy. Hope you come out a "Perfect ***". We need a little humor.
