Good Evnin'/Mornin' Ya'll from Overcast and Unsettled Taxachusetts,
Getting ready for a weekend getaway to New Hampshire. We are taking Maximus the dog, so I suspect the vehicle will be loaded. Got to get the grass cut, laundry done, and the other details.
Chief......you have my continued prayers for your Mom. It's in God's hands.
Brent.....sound like there is quite an adventure in store yor you and the Q. Bring a St. Bernard, fully equipped.
Rich.....this will be an exciting new chapter in your life. Plan a safe trip Nawth. On your way, stay away from politicians with corn liquor and grits, guys with power tools and ladders, and guys with electrical issues with their boats.....or you may find yourself on Gilligan's Island.
DougM.....glad you are enjoying your vacation. Come home with a tan.
LAZ.....you are challenging the Chief and Dennis for the title of "overbusy."
Please bear with me guys....I'm a bit behind on my reading.
Prayers for those who need them.
Jack

Good evening, quick stop in before bed. Another late night. I must be getting grumpy as I find little patience for some new surgeons who might not be any good....but at least they are consistent! There is a lot to be said for the mentoring of a experienced surgeon when one comes into the field. I have seen several new guys who want to go it alone as the feel they are worth more than many practices are willing to pay. As they used to say in the firehouse...."Get some time on the job!" OK, rants over.
Glad to see some folks stopping by who we know are real busy about this time. Fife and John, could you put a Cole Hersee switch in the boat to isolate the battery? That is the big round knob switch that has "battery A" "batter B" "Both" and "Off". That would allow you to still start and run if one battery is dead. It also should prevent any drain on the battery when you are not running, just switch to "Off". We used to have those in all the fire apparatus.
Time for bed. Hope to see my wife and kids before I have to head back, but tomorrow is a busy day.
God Bless,Dennis

Hot & muggy here today. Glad I finished mowing the lawn last night.
One of the new Michigan transplants commented on the heat today. I just smiled & agreed that it was warm. Little does he know that we'll see some 100+ degree days yet this summer.
My Buick centenial boxcar arrived today. Another clean, low mileage find. Got it at a good price too.
Brutus - an accident like yours would convene at least one committee meeting in our plant. That committee would be charged with coming up with a preventative method so the accident could never happen again. Probably end up banning the use of two wheelers!
Got the joint tape and 1st layer of goo on the balance of the drywall project tonight. Sanding and more goo tomorrow - yippie!
All for now.
PS - prayers for all in need and our friends and loved ones!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Laz! Glad you found something to do over the Summer Hope you get to rebuild your layout soon man! Lots of posts today! Glad to hear from you guys, Don and 88! Not much going on here - middle of the week. Nephew is still here - Char took the kids to St. Louis Mills, a local mall, to hang out at the arcade and run go-carts and stuff, sounds like they had a blast. I talked with RT and SJ tonight, just solving the problems of the world
Oh - Char got the windows tinted on the van, as per doctor orders. They can only tint the top part of the front windshield though, but she thinks that will be enough.
Mike, you can drive tonight, I'm a little tired. I finally have found out how to get the kids to go to sleep at night. I threatened to get them up in the morning and put them to work! The thingie is lit and I think we need to go drop off some Yeungs and Old Mills to a couple hard working guys
hot as can be... 95 and humid....big grandson is fishing at lake caught an assortment of fish. neighbor across street lost his job after 40 years and not old enough to retire. trying to help them with food. all my sons laid off also. unions here are broken. one son got retrained. he got job in medical field for ten bucks per hour and in trades he was a cement finisher for forty bucks. no work though so am proud of him for taking care of his family. these are tough times. good thing we got trains and our fellowship to go back on.p.s. someone wants to shrink usmc down to 145,000.(currently 200,000) navyjack
Evening all
Rich - Good luck on the new job.
Laz - Great to hear from you, how about some pictures!
Chief - Prayin' for your mom
May God bless
Jim
Good Evening
88 today, storms expected tomorrow and around 90.

Good Evening from the Jersey Shore, 75, 95% Humidity, Showers and Thunderstorms,
Busy at work today, nothing exiciting just busy.
Rich, The best of luck with the move and the job front. Just hang in there.
Brent, I wish you all the best with the adoption. Dress warm.
Fife, That happened the same way to me on my 26' center console the year before last. I have 1 bank of batteries for the accesories and the bilge pumps. 1 battery was bad and it was only 2 years old. Of course it had to happen during a storm. I was at work and my son took care of it.
Dennis, I know about those long days and quick turnarounds. Try to keep awake.
Laz, What do you do in your spare time?
S.J. I hope that the doctor did not tell you to stay away from the banilla.
Thougths and Prayers for all in need.

Good Wednesday afternoon from Sunny Florida!!!
Where it’s about to rain, typical sub-tropical weather..
Thanks for all the support, guys...it means a lot. Looks like I have some stops to make on my trek north. If things hold true, I’ll be leaving here 7/31. Still have to pack stuff up and take down the layout, my firehouse & firefighter collection. Hot Wheels are looking like yard sale stuff, like a lot of the car stuff. Video tapes and all, wow, HOW did I get so much stuff?
Not taking the furniture, but wish I was taking my bed & mattress...I miss them already..
Anyway, Sunday looks like I’ll be on the WTC steel escort group from FL/GA line to Daytona. Bradenton FD is having some WTC steel brought there for a memorial to 9/11.
Enters Maryland @ 1100 Saturday and will stop in Fayetteville FD, NC @1930 Saturday.
Not much else happening. RT thanks for the link, it’s a good resource and hope I’ll find something.
OK Check back later...

Good morning all, bracing for hot weather again for the next few days.
Laz57, thanks for the update. Sounds like you have been pretty busy and I envy all your building talents. Have fun with the Lokie this summer.
Dbaker, no I did not make it to the train show you mentioned. I went to the TTOS meet in Arcadia. I got a late start account of my shedule got all out of whack from the day before. I was going to Mass on Saturday night so I could make the train meet on Sunday but we got a last minute invite to eat out with friends on Saturday night so I had to go to Mass early on Sunday. I got to the TTOS meet around 11:30. Only thing I bought was a Railking trestle set. The box said it would work with any kind of track but not true. The Lionel Fastrack roadbed is too wide to fit on it. It looks like it is made to take MTH RealTrack or tubular track can be screwed down on it. Anyway, it was just impulse buying and it was only $20 so I will figure out where to use it or give it to my grandson. The attendance was down a bit at the TTOS probably because of the show in Pomona. Sounds like your buddy got the train bug real bad. Nice to see new interest in the hobby.
Chief, prayers for you mom.
Grandson coming this afternoon for swim. Pool should be like bath water by that time.
Later,

Laz - sounds like an awesome addition! Project is ALMOST done. Down to baseboards and window trim in the sunroom (and crown) and still need to replace a facia board in the screened porch. I am hoping to have it done by the end of July.

Morning all. Had storms all around and we got a light shower [very light]. Been a sleepy morning, Finn can now jump into the bed with Lucy and I. No late sleeping unless Mom shuts him in kitchen and "mud room". BTW: he is almost as tall as Burg who now lets him pull his ears and tail. Gets in his face too. He is now 13 to 14 weeks old. He is a TALL boy. He can now easily gallop up and down the stairs. Seems to be into something all the time until he suddenly goes to nap time. Mom is sleeping and staying in bed all the time. Not eating much. Nurses keeping saying anytime now but she is still hanging in there. Hoping to take Lucy to lake house for a few. Neighbor [paint contractor] is going to spray paint the house and all I have to do is buy the paint. He and his son will be going up and "playing" for a day and I will feed them.
Rich, you and/or the Princess ever need a "pit stop" while traveling north/south, you have one here. Not that much out of the way. If headed north, take I 40 W north of Benson to Raleigh then US 401 to Rolesville. When leaving Rolesville, take US 64 E to Rocky Mount and there hit I 95 N. If headed south, do the reverse.
LAZ, don't be so lazy this summer.
Doug W, if you do not find one, I will ship you one as Miss Edna has some left over all the time.
Off to run errand and then Town Hall.
Have a good one.
BTW: see some immature child came through and "played stars". Takes all kinds to make up the world.

HI GUYZ,
I have been very busy since school let out. On our addition I have made V groove tounge and groove ceiling and hung those about 500 board feet of red oak used. The I have made a mantle in center of room with two red oak enclosed book cases on each side of the mantle looks great. I then ran oak threw the shaper and made cope and sticker wainscotting for all the walls. I also placed a vanity and toilet in our new addition of a bathroom and did tile and base molding there along with window moldings you guessed it all out of oak. I am now in the process of putting plyurathane on the wainscotting and then putting down the slate 12x12 ceramic tiles for the kitchen. I also have to do all the cabinetry for the kitchen in which I will start next week. All in all its been a very busy summer.
Yes I have been running the Lokie every Tuesday from 7Am til 6 pm. I clean out old fire empty the ashes then build new fire add anthracite to it. Get the pressure up to 90 lbs then pullit out greas and oil it hook up the cars wash it down and it ready for the day. This takes about 3 hrs. We run from 1030 till 5 Pm. One trip an hour. I have been running about 2 of the trips a day the rest of the time I am the fireman. I do a lot of shoveling. Its pretty cool.
On the toy train front, BIG NEWS!!!! I had to take down my layout. Our kitchen floor has a BIG DIP in it and I have to place a steel beam under it to get it level. Otherwise my slate ceramic tile will start popping and cracking. I took it all down on Sunday and Monday of last week. My wife was teasing me saying she thought she heard taps coming from the basement. I did feellike shedding a tears, for all the work that goes into a layout but its just something that had to be done. Now it gives me something else to design. Oh well? SIGH!
ALL YUZ GUZ,
CHUCK, glad to see you are still working out. Hope the PT is still looking good? Keep up the good work and remember PACE yourself.
BUCKEYE, TGIFs!!!!!! I am in the everydays a Saturday and everynites a friday nite mode now for the summer. Loved the pics you sent me.

ROY, BIG CONGA on the CHIEFs BDAY gift you are talented. Maybe we'll have breakfast again in the fall at YORK, keep your calender open.
Gotta go GUYZ and remember on these HOT HUMID summer dayz,
STAY FROSTY,
Quick cup this morning. Tired as I had to work till 0130 this morning and have to head in soon. Long days make for one tired dog....me. Brent, hope all goes well on that end. For us, the paperwork was about as complicated as buying a house, but more valuable in the end. We did not have a choice of which province we went to, it was the one the adoption agency dealt with. They have several throughout China, but when you are assigned a group, they keep you all together and all the kids come from the same place. A bit different than they way they do it in Russia.
Fife, one of my friends is a retired cop who works the ferry in Delaware along with several other retired P.O.s. They seem to like it as it allows for them to enjoy peaceful work, still hang together with a common bond, and it is the type of work that doesn't follow you home.
Have another day of it, so better get going. Hope everyone has a blessed day.Dennis
Rich - almost forgot... best wishes on your journey. Things will work out, they have a way of doing that. Give me a shout when you are in the area - Fife only lives an hour away!
Hudson/Chief - The smaller back-up battery is apparently shot, and since they are harnessed together...
anjdevil - Putting the "special" mug in the freezer. Perhaps it's time for an open house at fifedom in August...
Mornin' fellas.I swear the faster my wrist heals the more work I find I need to do. Last weekend my sisters, BiL, and niece were in town. Went to see Toy Story 3D and it was really good. Seems all movies are now coming out in 3D, which I simply don't understand. After about 1 hour my head started to hurt and I started getting sick. Took the glasses off and the whole screen was blurry. Back on with the glasses... no more 3D movies for me.Well when we got home I noticed one section of siding on the sunroom had popped off and the gutters had seperated. So last night after work I got all that fixed. Now tonight I have tio drive from Beltsville to Frederick to pickup a new HD converter box for the new HDTV in the master bedroom. Then hopefully I can get home and paint the baseboards for the sunroom and possibly get the hung. Really hoping to have the sunroom done by the end of July.STILL waiting on paper work for the adoption to come in... We identified the 4 regions in Russia we are going to target, the two most interesting are Krasnadar (Northern shore of the Black Sea) and Novasbirsk (large city in Southern Siberia)... when they mentioned Siberia I said "Ummmm... is that really wise? I mean Siberia mid to late Winter?" Adoption lady "Oh, you have NOTHING to worry about! They have planes that are specially built to land on snow and ice!"
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a very humid 70 degrees. Looks like a rain day. Going up to 84 today. Lot of fog.
Today is a busy day. I have a few chores to do and an errand to run. Then, I will go to the Center for PT. I need to walk awhile. Thankful that it's indoors. Ran trains yesterday for a few hours. Good relaxing time.
I guess we lost LAZ to a steam engine.
Dining car is here with an omlet for breakfast. Nice change.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.
Chuck
Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 90s. Went to watch a scrimmage involving "my" soccer girls last night. Other team just sent their JV. Good thing. It was 8-0. We never got the ball to their 18 (penalty box area). The other team looked to be in mid-season form, and ours....... At least the weather was nice and I spent some time chatting with the parents of some of the kids. It will be hot for my game tonight. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL after my game. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Hey ya All,
Doug - Got my copy and the pictures are well done, and even the article. But it doesn't really do the club justice! It still amazes me how the smallest area in the Museum, has the biggest scale trains there, AND the most visitors LINGERING. This will probably get me in trouble, but almost as if the O scale guys are the friendliest. One would think!
Chief - I am glad you finally got that dock done. But you really don't need a Windsock on it, of a Control Tower, I know it is beneficial for the windsock, but you would be better off with a just a pair of "drawers", it would be just as good, and I'm sure they are much more plentiful. You can get that neighbor lady's suspenders to hang them with (the one with the pipe), then always be able to drop the backside in the event of a storm. (Who knows SubmBob, may hook you up, and make you a semi-Official Reporting station.)
Joe - CONRATULATIONS ON THE SON, so glad to hear Mom and Baby are doing fine! Sounds like Grandma and Grandpa are doing what they are suppose to.
Been busy here!
First and foremost got a REALLY GREAT call yesterday! My 31 year old niece contacted both my brother and I, and decided she wanted to get to know her family! What a shock!! My sister had determined she didn't want to be bothered with either of us, and headed to MI, and told us she would contact us when she wanted to hear from us. 25 years later, (numerous attempt from me or my brother had failed) the youngest daughter decided to find out about us. What a great surprise.
Went to a train meet with a friend of mine in Pomona this past weekend. I was thinking I MIGHT see Ray, I knew he made mention of "possibly" going, but he didn't say for sure. But I did not see him. I did find lots of good deals, but only bought a set of illuminated Lionel bumpers for $12, and a Lionel scale semi-truck for $5. But found a MTH PS2, Santa Fe, FM for $175 ! Convinced my buddy to buy it, so he got it, AND bought 3 Beeps. He plans to upgrade them to TMCC with the ER upgrade. We took the stuff to my place and put the FM on my layout, the battery was good, and it started right up, ran great. It had a total of .2 miles on the Odometer, and total time of 4 minutes on th Chronometer!! A new engine!!
Also, met up with another friend who wants to get started in the hobby, and wanted to go through the show with us so he could get advice. He had been asking me for a couple of weeks if I would go with him, No Problem! Unfortunately, he had a pocket of money in his pocket felt he HAD to spend, and wanted our advice as long as it was supporting what he wanted. So this is where he ended up......
He is planing on starting with DCS, the TIU and Remote, a MTH 1000 xformer, (100w). Also has picked out a MTH Ready to Run set. (from LHS), but he couldn't remember which one it was, Daylight, or NW J passenger set. Also wants to use RailTrax and MTH switches, (adament). (I tried to convince him otherwise but didn't want to hear it. I think he's from the South.) He plans on starting "small" maybe a 4x8 if his wife will go along with it. But he bought at the meet, 5 MTH building/stores. Suggested he might want to hold off on all the buildings, but the "Bug" had bit. Also a set of Premier MTH Milwakee Road Pass. Cars. (Told him that they would look quite a bit different than his RTR set, because I'm sure it is one of the "Bantum Series". But he really thought they looked neat, and the price was good. Then the ultimate, decided he need a Railroad Cap, and wanted to know which one to buy. (???) Told him whatever his favorite roadline was, or roadline he would like to focus on, or maybe to go with the RTR set he was purchasing. Didn't know, suggested maybe UP or SP, they are local. Couldn't decide. Finally he got the SP. So this will be fun helping him, hopefully reality and maybe some focus might set it. In the meantime he is so excited and having fun, I don't want to dampen his attitude, (68 yrs old, and said he needsa hobby.) So I ended up borrowing a cart from a vendor I knew and helped him get his load to the car. So it was a lot of fun, I spent LOTS of money, none of my own to speak of.
I ended up with the day off today, spent the whole day painting, UGH !! Finished refinishing a patio glider I have been working, finally have it ready to go back together. Also redid a small cabinet for the trainroom. Seems it doesn't matter if it is large or small, it still takes the same amount of time. Looking forward to Wednesday night, a couple of guys coming over to run trains. One has the the new MTH streetcar, boy is that ever cool. Can program for "out-and-back", or "loops", and with up to 9 scheduled stops, really like that. The other guy (bought the FM and Beeps above) is going to bring over the new Lionel Legacy 9000. (Hope it gets here before it ends up broke.)
Bob - Warm weather headed your way!! Going be hot for working on the Corvair and Van. Need to find a big cool tree, and plenty of cool drinks.
All you other guys take care, stay cool, and be safe!
(Probably should have proof read this, but didn't take the time, sorry)

Evenin' All.
Chief, I have been all over town looking for the new issue, non-subscriber, and nobody carries them. All the Kalmbach mags but not OGR, I'll have to expand my search area I guess.
Rich, Safe travels my friend.
Jim, Where's the operating manual ?
Lost one of my tomatoe plants, the other two are doing pretty good. However, the next time they are going in the ground.
Wouldn't you know it, finally got rid of June Gloom with some 90* weather today so we have our first fire of the season. Last heard it was only about 500 acres on Camp Pendleton.

Evening all. Back from Harbour Town. We took our friends with their very young kids. Long night. Brutus, you would've loved Murphy's Pub. We met the Murphy behind the Pub.RT, we sent good vibes your way driving through Columbia on Saturday

Rich - prayers for you and I know that things will work out for you in my heart man.
JimSP - good news on that house, I know you have been working on one thing after another and it sure has been a big project.

FYI: David Farquahar and his wife had a baby yesterday and it sounds like everyone is doing great
No storms here and had to water my tomatoes - that topsy turvy thing must dry out pretty fast.
