i knew there was a reason why i liked the csx.....ray do you know what rr the virginian was absorbed into? that is my other favorite. doug happy anniversary...how many? when i was a kid i was into ho trains and bought a varney sw switcher in acl purple colors. i have liked acl ever since. would someday like to pick up a mth diesel switcher in acl colors. i think i have about eight engines that are lettered for virginian. love the blue and yellow. also have more hoppers(around 30) than any other type of car as there is something about the big virginian engines pulling long trains of coal that appeals to me. my grandpa used to be foreman of holland coal company in chicago back when houses were heated by coal. they had two hundred trucks on the street. his family name was Koeller which means coal man in german. isnt that strange?well guys who went to york, i wish i could have gone with you. i will be with you in spirit. i wish i could see through your eyes. my grandson is laying in front of tv watching chuggington.....navyjack
Aloha all from a sunny and cool Crystal Lake where all thoughts of Jordan spreaders must be put off since it's our anniversary. I convinced the bride the new fridge is our gift to ourselves but need to take her out to an expensive dinner anyway. Boy, 21 years ago, I remember hanging around ready to go to the service, watching ESPN. Glad the Yorkies arrived safe.

Morning all. Getting ready to head to the production office and then to work. Been battling a cold and am extremely tired....oh well. Hope to get some sleep this weekend, but Saturday will be a full day of movie stuff, so we shall see.
Right now, it is pretty outside. Mid 60s and going to mid 80s. Blue sky and few clouds. I hear it is supposed to change to storms this weekend also. Not bad if staying inside, but we have a few trees to get in the ground too.
Have a great weekend everyone.God Bless,Dennis

Cheerios - sugar = GRITS
That's why I always use sugar. Beautiful people eat Cheerios.( and away we go ).
Good morning all,
It is cloudy in SE Indiana with temps in the 60s. Did some soccer scrimmaging last night outside. Going to start at 7 PM beginning next week. Day did not start off well as got two copies of paper, neither of which had the word jumble, comics or soduko. Good day at work yesterday. Gas was 2.66 in Indy and 2.86 at home. Hmmmm? Submmbob, JD is self-propelled walk behind mower. Will never get another one. I do not mind paying extra for a brand name that performs, but I could have gotten a cheap rider for what I spent on that mower. Odd thing is the older model that was going to be just a backup works just fine....... I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast (included Cheerios). TBIL anytime with fresh zuchhini bread. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a clear and sunny 60 degrees. Going up to 74 today with a slight chance of rain, later
Today is a busy day. Wife is going grocery shopping. That about says it all. I will be working on a project and then relax until she comes home. Put groceries away and have some supper.
Exercising went well yesterday. The Fitness Center is nice. Just down the hall from the PT room. I worked out on the bike and tried the Para Body weight machine for a few minutes. I liked it.
Dining car has arrived and it's time for a Cheerios breakfast. Never forget your Cheerios, Sorry, Bob.
Y'all have a great Thursday.

strogeycnw1995 Aloha all. Nice chatting with Sir J, Brutus, Ole Timer and Charlie on my late train ride home last night. The boys should be off to York today I think (Charlie and SJ). Looks like a busy day. Sunny and cool. I have to look for a Jordan spreader or big snow plow. They sure look neat. Hmmm, anniversary tomorrow. I really should do something about that too Doug...check the "for sale" thread on that other magazine website. There was a spreader for sale a couple days ago at what I thought was a decent price. Just a thought!

Well back at work for another week. Right now we are closed due to fog and frost. System moving thru. Was a bit windy on the way up, but a very beautiful drive w/ the clouds. The week off pretty much just went by.
Mike - regarding the JD, in one of Roger Welsh's tractor books he is having problems w/ the mag on his Allis, and his buddy comes by and says it sounds pretty good for a Deere...those extra two cylinders are just spares anyway's right?
8N - I am a great respecter of the /6, but I did know a kid who killed a Dart /6 and my '75 Cad 500 I sold him within a couple months. He was impressive.
Dennis - heard about the Letters to God movie on the radio and want to see it.
Lee - congrats on selling the motorhome! Can't wait to see the Jeep sold after I get one of the others going. It's been fine but just don't use it anymore for it's intended purpose (and will never get the sheet of plywood I need for the layout home in it:).
Hudson - that's great news about your friend!
Hope Brent hangs in there, w/ the other arm. I did a number like that adjusting valves on a '56 International (Mike, now you know the tractor brand I prefer:)
Brutus - great news on your wife and glad you're feeling better!
Chuck - went to another store to shop for the week today and forgot the Cheerios, darn
The Amtrak work train arrived damaged:( The seller didn't put any kind of packing in the individual boxes and w/ the inserts missing a couple of pieces got slammed back and forth. The front truck on the Alco is cracked and bent. He is a major store and I was a bit disappointed, especially given what I paid for it. Wasn't quite in the condition I was led to believe, either. Says he will return all items not happy w/ so we'll see. If it's repairable I'd wouldn't mind keeping it, maybe we can work some kind of deal.
Otherwise for my spare time this week maybe I'll paint the #258 and work on a machining project. Got some reading and thinking to do as well.

Jim,
Keep a real keen watch and don't get confused between the glow of the "roman candles" and that of the "over-heated MC/VISA/AE/Discover".
Safe travels and enjoy.

Prayers for us all and our friends and families. Char is doing very well now. He hemoglobin was up to 10 the other day.
HVAC guy came today to service the furnace and AC units. I need to make sure he changed the filter, he usually is good about that if I leave the right there next to the unit. Otherwise, I'll do it - no big deal. I let him do it if he wants, because otherwise they have actually changed filters that were just a week or two old (usage-wise) in the past.
Tardis is ready so let's go! Be at York in a few minutes
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
navyjack what rr finally was the acl absorbed into?
Finally absorbed into CSX after several mergers starting with Seaboard (became Seaboard Coast Line). then Chessie System and Family Lines. Finally CSX. Incidentally, I found another book title on the ACL that you can look for. It is "Atlantic Coast Line The Diesel Years" by Warren L. Calloway. It first came out in 1993, Mostly black and white but lots of good pictures from the purple and silver color right up to the black and yellow prior to merger with the Seaboard Air Line Railroad.

Wishing everyone safe travels to YORK. Have fun!!!!
Last fall when we were returning home from York, we had to drive through the big snow storm in the Pennsylvania mountains. As we rolled past a campground adjacent to the Turnpike, we could see the campers sitting next to their tents covered with snow.
Laz....be good at York this time.

DJSPANKY .... I might go for a sponge bath or two ..... depends on who's giving them to me ..... My luck they would end up like the massages in therapy I was getting at the VA hospitol ... I was hopeing and thought a beautiful little nurse would be doing them ... instead it was a 250 lb. male wrestler .... or at least he looked like it ... needless to say i opted out after the first one ....
CHUCK ..... you think the guy with the cane would have to be watched out for at York .... when I go I'm borrowing a power chair .... don't get between me and the bargains .... or there may be alot of guys looking like they're wearing those big toed clown shoes .....
8NTRUCK .... that was hilarious about the payback music .... gave me a good laugh !
DOUG ... the Jordan spreaders are cool and alot wilder looking than a snowplow ... I have one .... but don't open up the wings on the sides ... as I call them ... when running them .... they'll take out all the pedestrians and anything else if they're too close to the track ... ..... narrrow tunnel portals too .
Charlie talked me into going to York next time or the one after ... am holding out until my buddy Brutus can go if possible .
Good late morning everyone. Just a quick check in. At least I thought it was going to be quick. So many posts, it is hard to keep up. Been real busy with work and also movie stuff. Not supposed to get into too many details on movie for time being. Will post some information when closer to finishing. It will consume a lot of my time, so I may be scarce for awhile.
Hope the Yorkies have fun. Wish I could be there, but other things are a priority this go around. Felling a tad under the weather today. It could be just run down. Oh well, time to eat right and with any luck, I will get some sleep tonight.
God Bless,Dennis

Have three episodes of "Lost" to watch now.
Watch Lost ??? Thought you were lost.
Morning all. Partly cloudy and some showers [very light ones]. Some good rain due by weekend. Much needed. Off to meetings. Will get a chance to come by the house and see if my "prize" from Choochoo has arrived.
Have good one.
Mornin' boys. Mornin' English. Overcast & 52 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.
navyjack - Send those 2 boys to Maryland. There seems to be unlimited funding for sidewalks and curbs here

LAZ....Do you mean the "ARNOLD CLASSIC TREADMILL RACE ?"
Good Morning Guys,
Rain is done, sun is out up to 80F today...
Most of my paperwork is done here at work, most of the cars are up on line and today I have to train one of my female associates how to run the inventory/internet device ...I like her, just not the sharpest knife in the drawer.....
Re-installed the ZW on the layout and works like new..kudos to Lionel’s service department for the quick turn around...and a minor $11 shipping charge. Also ran the Jordan Spreader with the JCP 2055. It’s a real neat item, I like it. It should look good on the Christmas layout.
Looks like my Devils are doing down in flames another loss to the Flyers...one more and they can play golf with the Rangers . At least the Yankees are winning.
– for our intentions and those heading to York...safe travels..I might be able to be there in October....
See ya later!
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s. Watched "Glee" last night and taped "Lost" and "V". Have three episodes of "Lost" to watch now. Weather permitting, we will have outdoor soccer tonight. I will wear my cleats this time. Grass is much easier on the legs than concrete. I had the regualar fare on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL after soccer. I hope everyone has a good day. Prayers going out for all who need them.
thanks chief for the info on the tomatoes and thanks ray for the info about the acl. i will have to request a book at the top of my list for fathers day. recession has hit my family. now two sons who were temporarily laid off(both concrete finishers) are now permanently laid off. (no more train buying for a while). they are both trying to get into another profession, trouble is they went through a union apprenticeship, are now journeymen and have eight years invested. now as a reward, they can join the ranks of the unemployed. no health insurance either. it is hard for people to get government aid here as our state is bankrupt, so they can only rely on the bank of mom and dad. we are needed all of a sudden. anyway, hope they find work. i remember in the 80's i was going to get out of the navy, had a job as a gs-7 lined up but had to stay in as wife was pregnant and could not afford to pay for her hospitalization. i had three months in central america to think about my decision. oh well i guess recruiting is up. navyjack
god bless all of you my friends.......
