8n,

What I do when replacing those shoes is to put a power blade for a 3656 stockyard in a vise and use that as an anvil.  Have it protruding above the jaws just enough so that you don't have to deal with the shoe/baseplate rocking while trying to flare the rivet.  I have heard of some guys using the edge of a flat file as an anvil as well, but I've never tried that.

I went and got my fishing license and some Spiderwire EZ Mono tonight, and hopefully I'll be able to go fishing before class in the morning.  The Trilene that I installed last year developed a memory issue, so I decided to try the Spiderwire.  Too bad the local Walmart doesn't carry Cajun Red Cast.  I have that on my baitcasting reel and it works well.

Back at the 'scope for another week. Road is now practically a freeway. Lots of snow still but it seems to be draining well.

Ran the 2025 last night before I came up on the "new" table. Ran fine but I think the table setup will be more of a pain than it is worth. Think I'm going to scrap it and let my buddy use it as firewood. Will set the original 4X8 plan on the floor for the time being. Also ran the 1615 w/ the rotary snowplow. I have those with me as well so I will try to get a video on youtube.

I'm on the Sakai yahoo group now. Some interesting stuff on there. Was not really into tinplate before but this could be interesting. Good thing there is not as much stuff out thereWink, but it's got me looking at Marx now...

BTW the Downeast mosquito is also know as the Maine State Bird.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a very cloudy 56 degrees. Rain on the way. Nothing yet. Going up to 66 today with rain in the forecast.

Today is a busy day. Wife is grocery shopping. She is not happy about going in the rain. I am working on a lot of paperwork all day. Doesn't look like there'll be any time for trains.

Dining car is here for the usual Cheerios breakfast.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Morning all.  Up early for me.  Got to plant tomatoes today and then take golf cart to lake house.  Rain coming in this evening and tonight.  Wash all this pollen away.  Yanks have turned their COLD cannon this way.  High tomorrow will be only the low today [60's].  Bounce back though.  Better get moving.  Later.

Good morning everyone.  I am the only one in the family not sick....for now.  Anyway, getting ready to head in.  Have a big headache to which I had a little breakfast so I could take some ibuprofen.  Won a auction for a Legacy non-power GP7 in NYC livery from Trainz that I paid for yesterday and it should be on the way soon.  Makes for a easier lashup.

Wife and kids will hopefully find some fun things to do today.  Kids are on break and may drive her nuts if not occupied.  Plan is for me to spread some weed and feed before the rains come.  Hope to get it done.  Well, gotta run.  Have a great day.

Good morning all,

It is cooler in SE Indiana.  Played soccer (with American kids and a few internationals)   (not an American sport.....tell that to Mia Hamm or Landon Donavan....)  Nice gesture by our President regarding Butler as well.  (let it go, Mike, let it go)   Good day at work.  Had to make funeral home visit for dad of good friend of wife.  Chief, JD is self-propelled walk behind, will take it to dealer on Saturday and use old gray one to mow.  Old one was made in US by JDwith Briggs motor.  New one was made who knows where with Kawasaki power.....hmmmm.  Had cereal and streusel again.  TBIL anytime.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Aloha all. Grey and cold today, looks like its clearing though. Sox lost last night - never figure playing so early in the season - and late for that matter. Gotta remember the brides birthday coming up... you all reminded me to spruce up the 'ol electric mower.

Navyjack ... that yatchet is the flagship of the yankee navy ... we rebs have a couple kids with inner tubes ready to sink it .... that's all we'll need ... when it tries to cross the Potomac river into Dixie .

Probe / Jim ... by golly if you ever need a second profession sounds like a train repairman may be yet another calling !

Mike C .... lawnmowers drove me nutzy and kept costing me replacements and breakdowns all the time .... so I finally got smart and bought one of those large finishing mower decks for behind my ATV ... excellent = beautiful smooth cuts and never any breakdowns . It manuvers so well all we need is a small amount of trim with the push mower and weed whacker . Man it was the BEST thing i ever did ... I have'nt looked back since .  Over 6 years now and never a problem . And of course the comfort of the ATV helps too . I don't have any more money invested in BOTH = ATV and deck than my bro-in-law and his top end Cub Cadet  mower and his has broke down ... transmission blew ... and I can ride the ATV  in the woods and mountains anytime to boot .

Greetings, Ya'll, From Sunny Taxachusetts,

Hit 90 degrees yesterday, a record by 4 degrees.  Mid 60s today with temperatures falling back to a seasonable 50 later.  Brushfire red alert warnings all over the place, hard to imagine after all the rain we had recently.  Pollen is spiking here too and my daughter is suffering as a result.

Yesterday was a frustrating day.  My mechanic ran out of Mobil 1 synthetic motor oil and I had to wait an hour until he had some delivered.  The oral hygieneist suggested a deep scaling.  My medical doctor remains as elusive as an FBI top 10 most wanted fugitive while the nurse practitioners handle all of my health care needs.  It took the pharmacy about an hour to fill my prescription.  Then they didn't tell me the prescription was ready till they saw me sitting there all my myself reading a magazine.  Banged Head

JimSP..... ticks population here is about triple for this early in the season.  Lime disease is a serious issue up this way, for people and for dogs.  We began the flea and tick stuff on the dog about 4 weeks ago.  But it seems the ticks prefer me to the dog.

Dennis......re (broadleaf) weed and feed, like Scotts Turfbuiler Plus 2.  Needs to be applied to a wet lawn so the weed portion of the mix sticks to the weed leaves and gets injested.  Acts as a super fertilizer for the weeds and the weeds actually outgrow their roots' ability to sustain them, and they die off.  Scotts and other brands usually recommend no water or disturbance for 24 hours after application.  Think the instructions are on the bag.  Hope your wifey and the little ones are feeling better.

Chief......have you picked out a paint scheme for the golf cart, like the General Lee?  You also need a proper reb flag mounted also.

Chuck.....hang in there buddy with the exercise regimen.  I visited the doctor yesterday and as usual didn't get to see one.  Got a nurse practitioner younger than my daughter but she knew her stuff.  I also noticed that the old guidelines for bloodpressure ranges has changed.  They want me below 120/80!  Came in at 122/82 on the first attempt but they didn't recheck later after I had calmed down......Evil

MikeC......I began attending indoor MISL games almost 30 years ago.  Chicago Sting played at the the old Chicago Stadium (Black Hawks and Bulls).  Karl Heinz Granitza was the marquee player.  What I liked about indoor soccer was how fast-paced the game is on a playing surface no larger than an ice hockey rink.  Add in the high plexiglass barriers around the rink and you have shots bouncing back into the field of play and lots of scoring.  Very little sidelines out of bounds too.  When the Sting moved outdoors to the old Comiskey Park (White Sox) I usually missed the goal or two that was scored while oggling the female fans, eating hot dogs, and swilling beer. Wink

Later, gang.

OT,

I have thought about running an ad in the paper around Christmas, but I am worried that I might get more than I can handle at one time.

I was planning on going fishing this morning, but I slept in.  It is storming now, so I might have to wait until tomorrow.  I called about the PGT that I am considering, and I might go check it out Saturday.  The current owner bought it from a salvage yard in 98 and fixed the damage himself.  Apparently, there was enough front end damage to deploy both air bags, but they were replaced.  Part of me says save the money, but something else is telling me not to let it get away.

Back from lunch encouraging our young pastor. Now off to DMV because teen lost his learners permit. Sure was a stroll down memory lane breaking out all the paper to prove he is who he says he is...

Percy's acting up. Stopping and starting intermittently even with continuous power. I have to try him on other tracks. Looks like my fix to reconnect James' sound board broke too. Ah well.

Still "rattlin'n'rollin" here, http://quake.wr.usgs.gov/recenteqs/Maps/116-33.html , 2k+ shakers in the past week with I'd guess 98+% since sunday afternoon.

Got my toys ready for the museum tomorrow, hope all goes well.

Bad news for somebody, expecting rain here sunday night thru maybe even tuesday. Don't forget your umbrella, if you do I can loan you one. Big Smile

Gotta run, need to work on some "honey-do's" while the sun is still shining.

hello guys...i know now that thanks to old timer, the secret is out.  you dont think as a lowly enlisted man i would be privey to such information.  the yatchet looks like an awesome weapon.  i hope that the navy does not make the mistake of sending it down to dixie though as the navy, as short as it is on ships, could not afford to lose it.  i hope that they use it for some good purpose such as hunting down pirates off somalia, rather than using it to hurt other peace loving americans. sent in money for a subscription to ctt.  cant beat 29.95 for a subscription, now all i got to do is figure out how to hold it once i get them.  i sometimes feel as useless as t---ts on a bull.  sorry....i really enjoy neverybodys humor and think you guys are all great.  thanks for the fellowship. won a few die cast 1/43 scale autos on ebay.  really enjoy the yankee-reb fun.  navyjack

Rich--good to hear about your riding, that has to be the best part of your day Thumbs Up  Several decades ago I used to ride to work in the early spring and late fall ... with frozen tears on the cheeks, wouldn't trade those memories for anything.  The weather here has been all over the place, 84 on Monday -- 46 yesterday but that's OK.  My riding has been very limited, super busy time of the year for me and that's good, extra $$$$ for motels and summer destinations for me Big Smile

Hello All,

Though I'd jump in here before they shut her down.

Had a wonderful Easter with the family. It's been a busy and hot week. Tied some records but broke none. Thunderstorm and cooler tonight. Chance of s**w flurries on Saturday. Wish you guys'd quit messing with that gun.

Son plowed more for corn Monday and planted oats yesterday. Put fertilizer on hay fields today. Got a load of feed ready to take and get ground for the cows. He's still looking for a job while hauling in scrap to help cover his taxes.

Navyjack, don't be down on yourself.

anjdevil, tell your brother thanks from me.

One of my co-workers son just got back from Irag on Friday

well I'm tired and headed for bed

Prayers for all who may need them

Good evening guys.  Been real busy today, but not at what I wanted.  Planned on spreading Weed and Feed, but that didn't happen....before I left work, it rained like crazy.  Had standing water, so glad I had not gotten the W&F out yet.  Came home and cooked Lobster Ravioli with Sun Dried Tomato Alfredo sauce.  Also took family to a ice cream parlor for some great treats in which 10% of proceeds went to the cancer foundation.

Son was playing around with drain on jacuzzi tub and now it doesn't work.  Has a handle that turns and lifts drain plug, but now it won't turn and lift.  Will have to tackle that one this weekend.

For those who have family looking for work, I read a article today in which UPS is looking for a lot of new drivers.  States that average salary is $74,000.00.  They say that it is hard to find folks who can pass the test.  One perk would be having a "in" to perhaps get your trains delivered early.Wink

God Bless,
Dennis
