 Good Morning boys & girls,

Like RRCharlie says cold.  Low in the 20's (was 26 about an hour ago, now 30, high of 48 later.  Cloudy & breezy.

Princess arrived home safely and was glad to be back.  Happy that's she's home.  Had a good time.  I was up until 1 and crashed.  Cats woke me up at 7AM Banged Head.  Hot cup o'tea with candy canes was good.

May do a little last clearance shopping later, will be hitting the last night of Winter Wonderland in St. Augustine, where it will snow at 7 & 9 pm, ice skating, horse carriage rides and all the fun stuff we used to do up in NJ.  And now, the weather to go with it.

We'll have the Christmas Tree up until at least Epiphany, going to book my trip to NJ soon.  Found out that I may have gotten a nice bit of luck.  Greenburg show in Somerset, Open House at the NJ High Railers in Paterson and of course, my firemans dinner and 175th celebration.

Maybe I'll crawl back to bed....see ya in a bit

LOL ..... walking around and sitting wrapped up in a blanket ..... yea she turned the heater on too .... said even her little dog shivers when he goes out to do his business Laugh  She should walk out my back door .... 18 degrees with 10-20 mph gusts .... it would probably freeze dry her dog ....

Back from lake house.  YAM DANKEES!!!!! Angry Us nice Southern gentlemen share our warm temps and grits and sweet ice tea.  All you do is send us your COLD WIND!!!!!! Disapprove Left the lake house, it had warmed to 22 degrees with winds at 13 mph and wind chill 9 degrees [per my indoor wireless weather station].  Was 19 when I got up and stayed that way until 9 AM.  Edge of lake is beginning to freeze.  I know Howard and Kool are really cold.  I hope Ioway is frozen solid. Evil

Got one chore done [insulated hot water line from hot water heater to kitchen which is on the other end of house] on Friday afternoon.  Went to friends' house for blackeyed peas and collards.  Rode golf cart.  Was not bad when I went.  Left at 7:30 PM and it had turned cold and windy.  Glad I did chore on Friday as would have had crawl space door open yesterday while it was only 31 and wind blowing 10 mph.  Stayed in most of yesterday watching movies on new channel the Direct TV lady fixed me up with.  Lucy and I did ride the golf cart to the dumpster and back.  She snuggled close to me to try to stay warm.   Lucy and Burg went out only a few times.  Lucy usually runs "wild" while she is there.  She never stayed gone over 15 minutes at the time.  She was cold.  Burg was out, did his "business" and back in.   Suppose to stay like this for several days.

Sad news for Rose Bowl.  OSU won.  I'm sure other team was bribed. Whistling

Off to watch some TV [new HD channels on Time Warner cable] and eat homemade spaghetti.  That is warming.

Later.

Aloha all. - 3 this morn without the wind. Went to the movies last eve and then a late supper at a local BBQ.  Back from church and watching the Bears struggle. Ran trains too - got four going for the first time in ages. First Thomas around his short inner-most loop around Baker Field. Then swapped my most reliable engine, the 520, on the next outmost loop with Percy who responded spendidly with the longer Sodor cars around Fortner yard. Then started James and the Express around the outermost loop through Eagles Ridge. Finally, had to manually throttle-jockey 520 with the Polak Coal Co. cars on the fourth loop. Nirvana.

Afternoon Fellas.

Been a long few days here. Got to run some trains for our niece and TheQ's cousin's daughter on Friday. I really need to get this power crap figured out and solved. Found a spot under the mountain where the joint between two framing sections was weak, had to fix that on Thursday. All-in-all it went well.

Think it was Jim who asked about the shelf, it is 17 feet 2 inches long. Have to pick up 4 more 1 x 4 x 10 pieces of poplar so I can build one more to go underneath it. Then I'll pull them both off the wall, prime and paint them. I decided on white for the overall color and B&O blue for the edges. Also going to paint the metal brackets B&O blue as well. Thinking about installing a removable plexiglass barrier to protect the items from bumpage.

Laz - I've run into 3 deer over the years, most disturbing was when I hit a yearling late one night in fog. Not sure if I killed it because when I went back the next day I didn't see a carcase.

What a wimp!!!!!  What the heck would you do if it actually got cold?  All we do is throw another log on the fire, count our blessings and celebrate winter---it builds character.  Why don't you use some of your frequent flier miles and come out here next weekend? We'll show you a good time--make snow Angels, ice fishing, horse pulled sleigh rides through the beautiful and serene countryside, REAL BBQ from THE best pork in the USA, a gorgeous fire in the fireplace, run trains, go to two of the biggest and best hobby shops you've ever seen, etc.

You want some cheese with your whining?  I'll bet Buckeye, Chuck, Doug M. are not whining--get a grip Chiefie!!!!!   Laugh

BRRRR!  As others have mentioned, it got cold down here.  Low at night has been in the 20s.  Right now, I can only wear my shorts indoors.
Fife, oh the things we endure to please our better halves!  I actually watch the "Twilight" movie with my bride....not looking forward to the next release.
Jon, great to see such a nice layout with the true input of the family, (vs. those that make claims, but won't let their kids touch it).  I am also blessed in a family that both supports and takes part in this fun we call trains.

Gotta run to get ready for evening church.  We are doing a series on prayer.  This morning was very good, and sure to be even better tonight.

Afternoon all!

Nippy here at 44. Took the outside decorations down. Not too bad out as no wind - so was comfortable in shirt sleeves. Sun has only been out here for a couple of days the last week and a half. Temps dropping all week with freezing for high predicted on Thursday.

C'Boys holding off Philthydelphia so far. Hope we win.

Wish the Colts game had been shown down here. Always good fun watching a game played in heavy snow.

Chuck - glad you are feeling better. Same for the rest of yuz giz that have been under the weather.

Have a great afternoon all!

Regards, Roy

Nice pleasant day here.  Sunny and mid-'teens.  I actually had to wear hat and gloves while I was shoveling the inch and a half of fluff we got overnight.

Not much going on.  Probably will run some trains for a bit.

Finally got over being upset with the ESPN announcers on the MSU/TT game last night.  My opinion is that they editorialized too much.  Would have been better if they had just called the game and not tried to turn the TT coaching problems and MSU player problems into a soap opera.

Back to work tomorrow.  My wife is also going in for another pinched nerve treatment tomorrow, too.

Brutus - how is your wife coming along?

Chuck - glad to hear you are feeling better.

All for now.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI but a dang cold one with temps in the teens.  The "saucy wench" worked on a jigsaw puzzle last night and today.  It is a picture of a kid on Christmas morning in 1959 with a General set just unwrapped.  It is nice having non-video entertainment.  I went to the YMCA and did soccer drills, weights and 2 miles on the treadmill.  An added bonus was talking to one of "my" older soccer girls.  Turns out she is in Atlanta, working on her Public Health Master's degree.  She is also working at the CDC in the HIV area, which the same area I contact.  It was so cool!  We exchanged e-mail addresses and I gave her a list of names she can contact down there and hopefully they can help her out.  I had bran muffins on the dining car before sending it on to "Points East".  TBIL after "Desperate Housewives".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

I just got home after a long, fun day with the family.  I just measured the snow on our back deck, and I got 33 inches! And that's not a drift!  Still snowing too, but it's supposed to end by midnight.

So what does a guy in Vermont do in a snow like that?  Go to church, go buy boots with his kids, go to The 99 for lunch, and then take the wife and kids to see Avatar at the local Cineplex.  No problems with parking or seats when you've got 33 inches of snow falling from the sky!

18 degrees and time for bed!  The 3:10 AM alarm comes early!

Hello all

Mountain. Goat, welcome to the "Pot". Always welcome more input

Cold day here as well. 11 degrees when I got up @ 6:00 High today was 19, with lots of wind. Been shoveling a lot of coal in the furnace. Too much in fact. This is the first cold snap since I put in the new windows. They really helped out keeping the heat in. I’ve got to learn how hot to keep the fire again.

Heading back to work in the morning. Been off the last two weeks. Sorry to see it end. I was so busy with nothing I only spent a few hours on trains.

Fife- saw It’s Complicated yesterday with the Mrs. It wasn’t half bad. Didn’t pay attention to the Male -Female ratio. Off hand I’d guess it was 3 or 4 to 1.

Anjdevil- I’m with you. The decorations will be up and lit till at least Epiphany, The indoor stuff will stay until the tree starts to drop needles or the end of January. Which ever comes first, I’ll probably take down outside next Sunday or Monday.

Headed to bed soon 5:00 comes to soon

Prayers for all who may need them

Wow, what a weekend in BUCKEYELAND!!!!  After the big win over the Oregon Ducks,  Buckeyeland is awash with scarlet, grey and roses.

2010 looks to be a great year in Central Ohio.  With our football problem solved we can now focus our attention on global warming, the health bills in Congress, world peace, high speed rail, H1N1, nuclear war, global cooling, taxes, Texas, oil shortage, goose poop, Tiger Woods, water pollution, traffic congestion, Cleveland, lead paint, cancer, homeless and government shenanigans in Roseyville.  The majority of these problems should be solved my May 1st,  just after spring football practise.

In honor of the great Rosebowl win, Mrs. Buckeye and I traveled to Fremont, OH to pay our respects to Rutherford B. Hayes, 19th President of the U.S.A. and the one who convinced the State to put The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

With clear sky on Saturday night and a temperature around 5 degrees, we continued our celebration by grilling steaks outside on the grill with a blue moon overhear.   First, I shoveled a path to the grill through the snow, then removed the cover.  The knob was stiff as I turned on the gas and lit the flames.  The smell of the steak drifted over the winter wonderland and through the woods.

Snow, cold, wind, cold ones, steak and a BUCKEYE WIN!!! Why anyone lives in those hot hell holes down south, is beyond me. Laugh

Good Eveing all,

Cold but not as cold as some of you have it.  Kids in bed, and need to tidy the place up before my bride comes home Monday.  Oldest girl has a fever and complaining of a sore throat, so we will see if she goes to school or not.

I put some extra power leads on the fastrack around the tree.  I found some connectors that fit onto the spades on the track.

Stay warm and safe.  May God bless

Good evening everyone.  Was nice night.  Wife came home from her first of two days to work this month.  While it is great that she can be home with the kids...the two days a month really take their toll on her.  I think it is because she is not used to the long day on her feet.  I was able to get almost all the base paint done on the layout.  Since that is done, I will start with scene specific painting and placing trees, structures, etc. soon.

May God Bless each of you this week ahead.

Dennis,

What would you recommend for someone who has trouble swallowing pills?  I have had a cold for a week, and I was instructed to take Zyrtec D.  The problem is that I just can't bring myself to swallow pills. Any advice?

I had an easy day at work today, which is a much needed change compared to the increased business that comes with holidays.  Came home and played in the Super Clean.Smile  The boilerfront, steamchest, and tender shell have been stripped and are ready for primer.  The paint on the boiler and pilot is being stubborn, but hopefully it'll let go soon.

John F - Not only did the C'Boys hold off the Iggles - they skunked 'em!. This probably means when da Iggles show back up in da BIG D next week - the situation will probably reverse!

Going to drop to teens later this week which means for Doug M it will be -118 degrees in Chicago and -103 degrees for Buckeye in Columbus town. This means Buckeye might have to get one of his sweaters out. He might even buy a new one since the economy in SnowHio will be soaring.
