Evening All !! Had a good day today, somethings went my way. Not an extremely profitable one, but still a good day. BTW, Brutus I always think of it just after I log off, but please, please keep us posted on the situation with your wife. Your posts are ALWAYS on of the highlights I look for to see how things are going. It has been such a long ordeal, I just don't know how the 2 of you have managed. My prayers and thoughts are certainly with you!!
Buckeye since "someone" thinks we have concerns, I thought its about time we resolve the issues, and I have a plan. (I am so surprised he thinks WE are the ones with the concern, obviously he must NOT recall, the Expose I did on Roseyville a couple of years ago, or the mass application of his avatar. Not to mention the Silent Auction that Lucy conducted awhile back!) Anyway here is my plan;
Since he lives below the MD Line it won't take much to convince him that the electrical system and distribution network is different there, than the rest of the country. Remember the TVA project? So since he now has over 23 engines, simple, we start off with the following;
- As everyone knows 23 engines will require a lot of power, even when they are idle. It would of course be due to the overall "voltage potential" that they would represent !
- Since the voltage potential is higher, then he would need to cut back on some of the "other" voltage applications. First of course is the EXCESSIVE voltage drops caused by the "over rated" fuses on his layout. I can convince him to exchange all the 10amp fuses for 3 amp fuses. This would be easiest done by using Ohm's Law. I would explain how the Power Formula works, and then work him up through basic formula for determining current flow. Explaining of course the lower the current rating the higher the voltage availability.
- Then when the fuses start to blow, I will have him change the polarity of the fuses, and if that doesn't work have him reverse the ends of the wires. Again, due to the TVA and that most of the generators there are running counter-clockwise as opposed to clockwise.
- Then I will inform him that in order to get his layout working correctly he will have to reorient the layout to conform to the TVA standards. Which would require lifting all the track and switching the sections 180 degrees, to confirm to the "revised" current flow, and reversed polarity.
- The only other option would be to Reduce the number of engines on the layout.
As a result I'm sure he will want to reduce the engine count. Would have him send the TMCC engines to you, the DCS to me, (I would take a couple at least over to Ray.) If there are any Trolleys up to Doug, (I don't think their are any, Roseville was still use carts the last I knew.) Then all the excessive bull in the area to both Pat and Jon, since they both have farms, and can just spread it around. Jon would be happy to have the John Deere stuff, and not sure what Pat would use, maybe the Southern rolling stock? Would have to check with RT, Dennis, Chuck, Brutus, Laz (probably shell casings), and go on from there. What do you think.
So just let me know Buckeye, and we will get it going. (Oh BTW, its getting to be that time of the year again, we need to do some planning..........get the hint?)
Don
ChiefEagles Evening all. The environmentally friendly ES44AC in NS has been posted on the SPF thread. All be jealous [especially LAZ]. Ran trains for over an hour and everything ran perfect. Now popcorn time. Later.

Good Evening
Brutus message received. Good Boy, you may have a milk bone. Just one though.
TTOS show was a bust for me, nothing purchased but did do some visiting. Sun all day and in the 20s, roads are clear but no snow melted. Banilla ready for the thingy, beacon on.

Evening, Guys
Got to a blistering 40 today, I'm sure Lee in So. Fl got to at least 50. Will be in the teens later.
Ray- for you & your wife's family.
Spent most of the day in the train room, cleaning and adding two more buildings. Fife, I'm staying out of the war of Southern Aggression. I'm just a lost Yankee Spy....
Leave for NJ on Friday, interview for job up there on Monday. Same company, hopefully more $$$ for same job here. Got a glowing review last week, so that should help. Anxious to see my fellow firefighters on our 175th Anniversary. I might have to make an appearance if they have a parade in October!!!
Not much else going on, went to Deland for the train show, only spent $17 (not including the $18 for me and the 2 kids).
Stay warm, check ya 2morrow.

Good evening everyone. Just got back from evening church. All I can say is WOW! The missionary I spoke of earlier hit it out of the park tonight. He was talking about acting one way on Sunday and living your life another way the rest of the week. Also, about sharing your faith. He showed a short video of the area he preaches at in Brazil. While they were having services, you hear gunfire and two people get shot just outside the church. The drug lords run the areas down there and turf wars are commonplace. I didn't hear too much of the service as I wear a headphone and mostly hear the director while I am on camera. Anyway, at one point, he tells how his baby son died. Just he and his wife were there, and he said a prayer and then carried his son up the hill and buried him. After hearing his talk, I must admit, we have no problems....at least none worth worrying over.
On a more uplifting note, my kids are planning a birthday party for me. They plan on baking me a cake in a "Easy Bake Oven". This should be a hoot! While the ingredients may be lacking, I am sure it will be the best cake I have ever had. Looking forward to it. I really do have some good kids...we are blessed! Hope everyone is blessed in the week ahead.

Hi GUYZ,
Busy day here today. With temps hitting only 25 felt spry and ran an easy two miler outside. AH felt good, but wind was a problem on the way out but pushed me on the way in. Took hot shower, did grocery shopping for week, cleaned turtle tank, did laundry, watched f ball games. Then made pitza for me and my WIFE. Also just got done running trains for an hour, NO PILE UPs. Now just getting ready for bed.
RAY, nope NO DEER on last day was cold though, and gun fire as usual on the last day oh well wait til next year.
What a game between the Packers and Cardinals, NO DEFENCE?
Stay frosty,
Good evening guys - watching Get Smart episodes - what a great old show Went out to eat at Cracker Barrel, they have good fried chicken dinners on Sunday. Checking out some pics of the Stourbridge Lion set on another website - Charles Ro hit my credit card the other day, so mine should be here soon I hope.
Tardis will be ready shortly, just have to stock up on some goodies. Watching for beacons
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Good afternoon and thank all of you on the forum for your kind words and condolences regarding the death of my brother in law. It was appreciated.
Don, that sounded like quite an adventure helping the Chief get an engine fired up.
Chief, I thought about you at a recent train meet. I saw a Lionel SD40 I think in Norfolk Southern livery. That paint scheme sort of grows on you does'nt it? I think the one I saw had TMCC and I only run DCS or conventional so I took a pass on it. I might break down and get some NS units from somebody sooner or later in honor of my love for the old Norfolk and Western.
Dennis, sorry for the loss of your friend's mother.
I finally got my copy of the current ACL/SAL Historical Society Magazine called "Lines South" with my article in it. The associate editor, Larry Goolsby was a big help in getting this published and provided some pictures to go with it. Many thanks to them.
Laz, did you ever see a deer on that last day with the flintlock? Maybe Chief will send you some of that frozen stuff.
Bought a couple of tall palm trees to go on my layout. I figure they can double for a Santa Fe location in the West or a Florida location on the ACL since I have model trains from both roads.
Got to head for the train layout now and get busy before the sun goes down and the temp starts to drop. We have been having great weather, however with daytime temps pushing 80 this weekend. Sorry about the nasty stuff in the East. Hope you all stay safe. I saw some pictures on TV of icy roads even in Atlanta with cars skidding all over the place. That's another reason we can't go back for the funeral besides our health problems.
Have a good evening,
Ray

Sturgeon-PhishIt has been a busy but rewarding weekend. My bride and I met Buckeye, his bride and Wes Saturday and ran trains. WOW, Buckeye has a really neat layout. I was impressed! Buckeye's gracious hospitality was the high point of the day. It was neat to meet folks like Wes and Buckeye in person who you learn to know and admire in person.
Jim.....It was great being the host of the OTTS January Snow and Ice Toy Train Operating Session at Roger's Corners, Ohio....Elvevation 936. I enjoyed very much meeting you after all these years. Please tell the Mrs. that we have already taken her advice and have been on the special travel website. I'm very glad you like the layout, but I was astonished when Wes said that I had accomplished so much in the last year. I thought I had done nothing. Mrs. Buckeye wanted to let you know that due to her knee problem, she couldn't stand in the train room very long and ducked out to sit on the sofa. This summer plan to return to see the big guys run outside. On another matter; Jim, would a spring trip to York work better for you?
Pat.....Have you ever heard the story about the Chief calling me up in the middle of the night in 2004 demanding to know why I had "invaded" his POT? It seems he thought it was reserved for only Southerners. Boy, did we spoil his party.
Pat....I really enjoyed your comments about hanging

Chuck - that it great about getting into your basement - be careful!
Pats dropped it. Ravens look tough! On to the GB - AZ game!
Fireplace all warmed up!

Good evening everyone. Has been a mixed day. Had early church that I was on the main camera for. Then, after Sunday School, I came home as wife didn't feel well early, but is better now. She made sauteed shrimp with linguine and veggies for lunch. Did a little layout work....painted some rails to look like rust, and caulked the sides of some of the Fastrack. I am doing that to both hold it in place as well as help with sound reduction.
Will take a short nap and get ready for evening church tonight. Kind of exciting as one of our missionaries who has spent a number of years in a dump in Brazil is here to preach. Through him, over 5000 people have come to Christ. He is a real dynamic person.
I helped my son get past a level on the Wii this afternoon. Think he used that as an excuse as he was banned from video games till his eyes get better. This way, I played it, he guided me and it still got him to where he wanted.Roy M., Saw your name in the OGR magazine with regard to TW. Congratulations. Wish I could have had them build a small layout for me to run while I did my work on the big layout. Still want to do the big one by myself, but it would be nice to run some trains while I was doing so.
Got bad news from a good friend when I got home this afternoon. His mother had died. She was older and it was expected, but it still hurts.
As for prayers...all the time. I often lift them up even for those who don't ask for them.God BLess,Dennis
Good afternoon all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 20s. Had a nice visit with grandson last night. Ran the 318E for him, but he kept wanting to push the horn button. I had to tell him there was no sound. Also, it will go in one direction ok, but to go in the other direction, I have to cycle thru the F-N-R twice for some reason. Did some Second Life as well after they left. Lucas is headin back to school today and so it is just the "saucy wench" and me. I had bacon and biscuits on the dining car for breakfast before sending it on to "Points East". I went to the YMCA this afternoon. Did soccer drills (15 touches), weights and only a half mile on treadmill. TBIL after "Desperate Housewives". I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Good Afternoon from Blueberryhill....
Just sitting here watching the Ravens / Patriots game. Brady better get busy.
I finally went to the basement yesterday. I was really feeling good. I was suppose to wait another week, but did it anyway. nice and slow. All went well. I ran my trains. Wife said if I didn't go down there, she would throw me down the steps. It really made my day, to run those trains. Don't tell anybody.
Sun is shining. Problem is,,,It's only 25 degrees. Don't think I'll sit under the shade tree. There's no leaves. Oh well.
Y'all have a great Sunday.
Chuck
Up to 35 and sunny here - positively balmy compared to last several days - went outside in shirt sleeves to grab some more firewood. I was able to restock on firewood Thursday. Lucked out the local firewood yard (tree service business) had just had some seasoned oak dropped off and I was able to score a bit under half a cord. Green oak will only burn in a bonfire...with a lot of accelerant - if you know what I mean.
LAZ - Pats may be settling down - long ways to go - need 2 scores assuming Ravens lay down. Good weekend for football.
HI GUYZ,
ROY, yepper PATS are stinking up NE. WOW!
PAT, HERBIE the HAMSTER is the driving force for power in ROSEYVILLE. They hang you from the yardarm if you hurt that little critter.
STURFISH, like the country song,
GOD is GREAT,

Brent - Swearing and construction go together like grits and regular BMs man! Now we know what went wrong
(SJ - the job is done.)

After leaving Columbus we came home and to help with a Youth "Lock-In" at Church. 48 kids came and I believe all have a good time, learned a little about their Lord, and experienced a lot of fellowship. Kids from all over the county came. Praise God! God is GREAT!!!!!
It was a huge success. We got to bed about 9:30 this morning and I just woke up!
Go to go and take advantage of some daylight hours.
May God bless
Jim
Afternoon fellas.Got down into the trainroom this morning and was able to get the second long shelf installed. Looks pretty good, especially now that it is loaded with WM and C&O. Also moved the AC6000 off the B&O shelf and moved some more appropriate stuff onto the B&O shelf. The pics are a bit small on SPF, but you get a good sense of it all. I may try to update the pics with larger ones later.
ChiefEagles Buckeye Riveter Don....I'm glad you are taking care of the Chief's electrical questions. During the construction of his benchwork after he laid down the phone there was the buzz of the circular saw and then it suddenly stopped. I then heard a very loud swear word followed with, "Wow!!! That's a lot of blood. Pam! Pam! Call the squad." Then I heard a big thud. I could now hear Pam in the background saying, "What do you want? I'm busy!!! And don't make a mess on that new carpet again with all your train stuff!! Do you hear me!!! I thought it best to hang up the phone. Guys it is called Alzheimers. Now lets all remember the good times when Buckeye was well. See it was his buddy Brent who tried to saw his leg off. Just a few weeks ago this happened and the poor guy has things all mixed up. As for the guy out in CA, the sun has baked his brain [along with all the drugs out there] and he is about as bad as Buckeye. I thought the latest "shake it up" would bring him back to normal. I guess there is no normal to him anymore. Please remember these two of our buddies who have fallen into ill health. I also think there is another one that lives about in the middle of the US [Ioway] that is showing signs of some mental lapse. I really hope it is the bitter cold and when spring comes, he will be OK. Now for today. Was down to 20 but fast warming above freezing. Went to pond after Sunday School. Pond almost frozen over since yesterday. Deer must have "vacumed" the corn up. All gone. Geese are "pressed" into the shallows where the creek runs in. Beavers had built only a couple of pitchforks full of leaves and mud right at spillway. Really a poor job and not impeding the flow of water [had to be OSU Grad in engineering beavers as such a poor job]. In-laws coming for lunch. Roast, turnips, potatoes and big white lima beans. Desert is a baked cobler of cherry and pineapple filling with pecans on top. Later.

Afternoon all!
Good stories - LOL!
C'Boys held their lead last night - end of 13 year playoff drought. Pats really stinking it up against Ravens this afternoon. NE fans are a rough crowd - if the Pats don't pull this out they may have to sneak them out of the stadium in armored vans this afternoon.
Morning guys - nice talk with SJ this morning. Everyone finally got up and they are watching tv and working on science projects etc. Wife just went to the grocery store - think she wants to get all her favorite foods in this week. I started working on some legal papers and got yelled at - need to do that when the kids are in bed. Uh, when will that be? Like 11 on a work night? They have been out of school due to vacation and now snow/temps, and I don't like to work on stuff like that late at night. Oh well, we'll get it done.
Bill (8nt) - I talked with Dave F and we think the tca show is on 1/30, which would make sense since it has always been on a Saturday and it's at a church. We thin the 1/31 was a typo. I'll email the contact person just to be sure. Looks like it's just a few bucks to get in and don't have to be a member. I'm a member though, so could get you in I'm sure. Its 9AM to 3PM. Might be a small show for a long drive though. I've never been to it.
Lunchtime, so Ciao!
Morning to All
Glad to see all is well on Coffee Pot. Chief is complaining about the Yankees and Don, Buckeye, Jon, Fife etc. are giving Chief "the business". Cold here in south Central PA. Yesterday we did a run to No. Va. for Christmas with BIL & SIL & Family. BIL is a great cook so we ate well. Today more running to a Birthday party and then catch up with a friend that we didn't get to see during Christmas.
Well, time to go.

Some of you may have some Lionel made under my friends watch, he was a forman there during the 1990s. He got the pink slip when Richard K. sold the company, as did many others. A lot of good people use to work there.
