Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cloudy 34 degrees, Going up to 45 today, with cloudy skies. The snow has almost all melted.

Today is an easy day. I have a few things to do this morning and then, I will be in the train room, this afternoon.  Love my therapy.

Next week, I start my physical therapy at the Treatment Center in town. I can drive there and they have a lot of equipment. I want to work out on the treadmill. Doctor says to take it slow.

Dining car has arrived and we are having the usual for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

41 and warm here for January.  Me and WIFE going to CABELAs then to ETOWN for TRAIN NERD PARTY.  The come home and run trains and watch the Fball game.

CHUCK, take it easy on treadmill, don't start out running just yet.  Or are you going to put me to shame?

Stay frosty,

Hi Guyz.......just a quick check in to let Brutus know we are all thinking of his wife and hope he is able to juggle all of the balls till she comes home.  A lot on his plate physically and emotionally.  If I were there I could help out with Chewy and holding down the fort at home as I am sure many of us would.  Although we would not be completing his home projects for him we would make sure his trains were not neglected and were exercised faithfully.  Big Smile  Prayers continue.

LAZ..... Don't worry, I will need a lot of time. Especially on my left leg. But my goal is to walk out to the mail box and back. ( 340 feet one way ).  And, someday, I will run for 5 miles.

Good Morning

Low 30s forecast all week,I'll take it.

Probably run some trains today all the Lionel stuff came in one month so I can't decide what to run. A little of each I guess. Big train show tomorrow so that will give me some walking time....S.J.

Aloha. Cold and grey - looks like snow. Rats.  Praying for your fam, Brutus. Congratulations, PapaD on Madison's joining our world. Jack is right - that's a shark in the photo - The Shedd was great. It is a classic looking building that looks like a museum should - inside and out - lots of exhibits and my fave is the reef in this big tank in the middle - Walked all the way there and back at lunch -  the only person seemingly in all of Grant Park... Not sure what the day holds except chores.

Morning all.  Warmer and Warmer.  Maybe rain this evening and tomorrow.  Going to lake house tomorrow after Sunday School.  Dish Network is coming to do install.  Will come back sometime Monday as doing a video for Mended Hearts organization that night.  Going to do some trains running today.  Maybe build train storage shelves in walk through closet.  Got to get some engines stored so I have room to run others.  I have some that have not been run in nine months or more.   Off to the pond to do beaver dam damage.  Later.

Today is exactly 1 year since I joined the CTT Forum. With 560+ posts I thought I was quite active, until I looked at some of the others.

If the Chief were to stop posting today, it would take me 18.4 Yrs. to catch up to him!

Other examples - Buckeye, Laz, Doug M 10.3 years

                          RT, Blowout, Dennis 7.2 years

Brutus, Chuck, DougDG, Jack, Brent, Fifey 6.3 years

I know this is boring, but I like to fool with statistics.

Chief .... my grand-daughters said they'd take those beavers ... remember... lol

Pat .... did you get my email about the decal/sticker question and supplies ? I forgot to add you also need a bottle of decal fix ... very inexpensive kit and software is included . In case you did'nt here .... http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/tes/tes9198.htm  and a bottle of this  http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/tes/tes1737.htm  works great ! Then just spray a few coats of matte or shiney over the whole car and walla !! I prefer the matte finish .... blends the decals in ... you can't tell they're decals on there . Plus it gives the cars a more weathered non shiney plastic look . Now if I would just start doing my stuff instead of everybody here in my area's I will get something done ... lol .

No one will ever catch the Chief .... lord he posts a lot on other forums too ! Well known man about town ... as they say .... and well loved by many . He was my first posting buddy on here ... always helpful and nice .... something I'll never forget .

And many thanks to KPOLAK for getting me interested in detailing and weathering ... BIG TIME ... a hidden genius at it .... what's that old saying also ... hiding his light under a bushel ...

Stupid-busy week this week!  I'm just getting caught up here while I play records on the radio.  Saturday shifts are great: no sales or managment types to interrupt me!

When this interlude of peace and quiet is done, I have to go home and write the Deacon's report for the Annual Meeting at church.  Yea!

Have a good weekend m'boys!

So far, it has been a mixed day here.  Early rain, so I couldn't burn and then the I had to go do rounds.  One patient is doing well, having had a lot of surgery, he should do fine.  Other patient, who did not have surgery, took a big hit to her heart.  We have her on support and time will tell if she will recovery.  That is the part of this job I do not like....we can only do so much, and ultimately, it is up to God, but when all our efforts are not enough, it can get to you.

After rounds and a little food shopping, I picked up the kids and bride and we went to Logan's for lunch.  Rain has been steady, so not much to do outside.  I wish I could get to work on the layout, but have dinner with friends which should be fun.

The Norfolk Southern has been busy adding some trackage to the local yard.  Not sure how big the expansion will be, but I think it may have something to do with the increasing size of the local military bases and the building of the ethanol plant nearby.  Speaking of "Ethanol", I was told that the modern fuels with ethanol are harming gas operated power tools.  Not sure if this is true, but a piece of equipment I lent to someone supposedly doesn't work from this.

Well, hope Doug doesn't get too much snow.  I know we will not, but we have enough rain.  Hope that it is a good day for each of you and your families.

Dennis

Sign - Welcome  navyjack! We are a bunch of nice guys, but don't believe everything you hear, especially them northerners.

Check with RT. He is retired navy, and somewhere between a northerner and southerner. He was raised in the north, now lives in SC, and has the southern gentleman attitude. Haven't gotten him to eat grits as yet, but working on it.

Good evening all,

It is cloudy and mild in SE Indiana.  Welcome Navyjack!  Always to good to have some one who served our country on board.  There are a few quirks and idiosyncracies to this bunch, but it is quite pleasant to be here.  Just remember toy trains are fun, soccer is the best sport in the world, and "the race" refers to the Indianapolis 500 and everything else will fall into place.  Brutus, missed you on the Tardis, but Patrick and I did ok on our first night of co-piloting.  I see lots of beacons lit so we will light the thingy and get this party started.  SJ, make sure the banilla is well stocked and I will bring the pork tenderloins.  Watched "Dollhouse" and "Numb3rs" last night.  Dollhouse was strange and the preview of the last episode looks kind of anti-climactic.  Did nothing unusual today.  Wife and I both battling intestinal issues....again.  They flare up every once in a while, probably stress related.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Partly cloudy and above freezing but the weather is still good for submillimeter astronomy. The weather next week sounds interesting. The weather service is potentially comparing it to the '93 floods. Thanks for the updates Don and keep 'em coming. You generally see what we get first. You are officially part of the weather monitoring service of the Submillimeter Telescope.

NavyJack - Welcome! I spent some time in the Seabees a while back. I got up to BU3 before I got out. NMCB-17 out of Port Hueneme (who-needs-me), CA. My stint was in the reserves, but we got close to the fist "sandbox" experience.  This is a great bunch. They helped me thru some tough times this summer. And the submarine car was my first piece of rolling stock.

Brutus - hope all is going well

Waiting for a phone call from my realtor. There is a possibility that I could buy the house I am renting. Was a little surprised to hear the numbers the owners were talking about. We'll see what numbers the realtor comes up with, but I'm not too hopeful. Even this 850 sq. ft. house is out of my price range.

Better news is that a guy on my corvair van forum just replaced his 4 -spd w/ a power glide. He is willing to sell it and in Tucson! The 3-spd, which needs new seals anyways, will get an upgrade!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend

Bob

Home again home again, jiggedy jog.........  A pretty good day for me and a nice easy 90 mile drive home after listening to some of the greatest kids in the world, I do enjoy my "part time" job but there are times (not today) that I keep asking myself "why"?  I think I'm about done, time to let the pups step up to the plate and pay their dues--this is my 43rd year--maybe time to slow down.

Navy Jack, WELCOME, good to have you here.  There is a wealth of information on this forum that is easily accessible.  There's one particular character here named "Chief" ........ an awfully nice guy deep down but there's a tremendous amount of HOT AIR to get past to the goodness of his heart. It's OK, just be patient with him and it will all work out.

Had a great evening out with friends.  One of my best friends, his wife and I all have birthdays within a day of each other.  Even though they are 90 miles away, we take time every year to get together for dinner and celebrate.  He was one of the ushers in my wedding and is a super person.  Was a Lt. in charge of a recon platoon in Vietnam.  One day, while helping with some reloading, he opened a drawer loaded with all kinds of medals.  I asked him why he doesn't have them displayed and his answer...."What I am most proud of is that when I had my guys out in the field, not one of them was killed.  After that, the medals are secondary".

NavyJack, welcome to the CTT forum and the "Pot".  Great group of guys here.  We have a lot of fun and share our concerns/lives with each other....and some train stuff too.  Always good to have more service folks here.

Hope to get to the trains later.
Dennis

Welcome NavyJack. Sign - Welcome  Underworld is a "strange" sounding name but he really is a great guy.  Then you have Dennis W and Pat L.  Great Southern Gentlemen.  RT is a Carpetbagger hanging out in the South.  Now you have good Yankees [if there could be any good in a Yankee] and you have bad Yankees.  Jack, Fife, Doug M, John F, Brent L, Brutus, Banks, Wes, Kurt, Charlie  and a few others are OK.  Now for the scalawags.  Sir J, Chuck M, LAZ and Mike C [don't like grits].  For the unforgiven.  Buckeye and Jon [over the hill horn blower].  Then the guys more west.  Bob, Ray [SP] and Doug W.  Then you have the down right mean, Don Baker [know as Shake and Bake = earth quakes and fires].  Now as for me, I'm the very nice Southern Polite Gentleman who loves grits and sweet ice tea.  [now you see we kid a lot and poke fun at each other but all love each other.  we get serious and honor prayer requests.]

Back from taking my niece [Pam's youngest Sister's daughter] out to Texas Steakhouse for her 16th birthday.  She is getting a car.  Pam said to me, well she is 16.  I then asked if that ment an automatic vehicle for her gift.  I was told, "Yes."  Times have changed.

Got one engine charging as not been run in a year.  Cut shelves for walk through closet to put engines in there.  Christmas tubs under layout and tree in attic.  Attic also has about 5 Santas and one Angel.

Picked up some videos at Target on sale.  Vietnam War, Great Indian Wars and Great Campaigns of WWII.

Good night all.  BTW:  47 degrees outside.

PS: watch your new type of batteries.  They do leak.  My wireless door bell for up stairs suddenly would work off and on.  Checked the battery pack with sending transmitter over the wired house bell.  Sure enough.  One was corroding the spring.  Caught another one like that not long ago.  Then I remembered the lady at Sears Watch Shop saying don't wait for your watch battery to go dead as they will leak inside.  This was due to me taking my Bolivia [high dollar] watch in as it started loosing time.  She told me the battery had started leaking but watch was OK.  She recommends not to go over 2 years with a watch battery and more like 18 months.

hello friend, i live in poplar grove, illinois which is very rural.  i am not from the south, but do not know really where i am from as i have been all over.  i know one thing though, my wife loves the grace of the south, and i like the good manners and values. if we could afford it we would live in charleston, but we ended up in this very low cost of living area as we had to take care of my dad when i retired.  your friend jack
