The #258 rides again! Well, at least the motor does. Rewired, cleaned and greased, and new brushes and springs. It turns out the brushes I got from Brasseur were the right style but a bit too long. Said they fit "most Lionel engines" so I was fine w/ that. I just figured I'd have to file the commutator end down. Well it turns out my coworker and friend John was faceting gems and I was watching him use the faceting machine and said "Hey, that would probably get the brushes filed down pretty square..."
So here's John trimming a 50 cent brush on a faceting machine. Guess he can now say he's done something related to diamond...
He did a great job and the motor runs good. Obviously I won't get it to my cousin and her kids for Christmas, but it's getting there. I must say though the the e-unit was a milestone in the evolution of electric trains. I think I'm fairly well hooked on the postwar models.
Otherwise a quiet night here at the scope so far. Getting some good maps for one of our associate professors. I can also almost walk normally today. So good to have two boots.
Prayers for Chuck and Doug and families.
Hope the worst of the weather has passed for you guys back east.

Evening all,
Still have snow on the ground but the roads are clear. We will see what the morning brings. The homily was well received and several folks commented on the teaching aspect of the homily and it made them think. I will use the same homily for the Sunday service. The next service I will preach at will be the Christmas Eve service, the Childrens service. Looking forward to that.
Continued prayers for DougM and his family and for Chuck.
Going to bed.
May God bless
Jim
Buckeye, great news on Chuck. I guess he is now going to OSU. That is good. Now if we can keep those cigarettes away from him. Been watching westerns. Did see a new Halmark Christmas movie.
Sleep tight.

Prayers are out for Chuck, Doug, Jim, Bob, Jeffrey, RT, 8nT's wife, and the rest of us. Mike, you did a great job so I'll ditto your list
Howdy guys - we got some snow, but it didn't stick to the roads. Took kids out to get their flu shots, lunch at the St. Louis Bread Company (tomato and mozarella pannini with tomato soup), then hung out at Borders while my wife made a run to Gamestop for the boy. I had bought a small tv for my daughter a week ago, but she and my wife nixed it, so I stood in two lines to return that, then to buy an ipod charger/alarm clock thing. I think I'm expected to go out tomorrow and buy a different tv they saw in a sale ad, but I might be busy working on my basement or something? We'll see!
Plenty of Ole Mills left and also rootbeer, banilla, and Miller Lites. Beacons are lit and I see some kabobs that need to be tested to make sure they are as good as they look
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
CLoudy and hovering around freezing today.
Got new shoes on mom's van this morning. Spent the rest of the day with household weekend chores and wrapping packages. Played a couple of Christmas CD's by the group Straight No Chaser while we were wrapping. Large group of men singing accapella arrangements ranging from traditional to do-wap to ragtime. Really unique.
Didn't post last night 'cause I was playing with my new Aerotrain. I'm going to have to do some layout work as it is not very happy on the O36 Fastrack. Looking at replacing the O36 on my middle loop with O48.
Got the requisite loop of track around the Christmas tree tonight.
I'll have a couple of things to post on SPF tomorrow.
Later all.
Mornin boys. Officially received 21" of SNOHIZO. Flamongos are covered. Guess what I'll be doing all day... DA BEARS are in town.
Yesterday did laundry, watched wifey shovel snow, gave Lassie a manacure, watched fifepup shovel snow, worked on layout wiring, watched littlest princess shovel snow, had wrapping paper tube battle with middle princess (let her win btw), watched drifting snow cover up family's efforts.
Oh, and talked with His Honor.

Good Morning: 22 degrees here in the Bronx where we seem to have 'dodged the bulet'. The roads are passable and mass transit seems to be running. Not so good for the outer boroughs and Long Island. One good thing, it's the weekend, not a normal work day. Should be relatively ok on Monday for the commute. Enjoy!

It's cold here was down in the 40's at midnight, so I'm guessing it went to the 30's. Sun is out and very bright.
I'm glad Chuck will be back home. Sucks being in the hospital for Christmas---been there, done that
Will try to get to church this morning, only the Princess and I as not sick, the others have coughs and such.
Shopping was a success and then the Princess baked gingerbread cookies!!
I'll be posting to the SPF soon, so don't miss it!!
Merry Christmas!

I did do 3 driveways anddid a place for the dog to go. Then took dog for walk and now got to go and shop for food at super market.
FIFE, GO BEARS!!!!!!
We only got about 5-6 inches of sno hi o.
Stay frosty,

Good, just read Doug M. made it to NYC.
Laz my neighbor woke us at 6:30am with his snow shovel. I had a great idea about where he could put it.
SIR JAMES.
I guess thats why wife wouldn't let me go out there. I guess I'd look pretty funny walking around with a snow blower on the backside? LOL.
Morning all I woke up at 6:30 AM. Chilly in the house so got back under the warm covers. Slept until 8.

Glad I am in sunny and drying out eastern NC. Yankees, enjoy your snohio.
Sure is pretty out and warming fast. Debating to be outside or run trains. I know I will have to go to the pond and check out beaver activity. May just sit and meditate for a while. Relaxing there.
Have a great day.
Well I really misjudgged this storm!!!! Looks like about two feet. Gotta get out in shifts and try to get one cars out as wife has Dr. appt. tomorrow. Last year hardly a flake and now this. Can't even open the doors to get out of the house. ..... Pat: how much did you end up with total?? Steve
Hey, Steve..
Just talked to Mom in Highstown, they got 12" of the stuff. Dad spent most of the morning blowing off the sidewalks and drive way.
Good Afternoon Y'all! Hope it isn't too bad up north. We got zero rain or snow which is a good thing. We are about a foot above flood stage, but it doesn't get to our area. We are on high ground, but it still leaves the ground muddy. Kids played outside yesterday and so their shoes are covered.
Had a wonderful service this morning and tonight we have the Christmas Cantata. I was/am on camera for both, so I will be heading in for a nap to make sure I am on my toes later. We celebrated our Christmas with the kids this afternoon as we will be heading to NJ on Wed. and want them to enjoy their gifts before we leave. Besides, they may want to bring such things as Nintendo DSes, and some movies for the drive up. Me, I got a NYC Consolidation locomotive that I had mentioned some time ago. Finally took her out of the box and it is very nice. Looking forward to getting the layout ready to run her. Also got a B&O Museum T-Shirt and a pneumatic train whistle. Kind of neat as it has a belows and four whistles. Sounds authentic too.
Well, going to say good by as the pillow is calling. Prayers out for Doug as he gives the eulogy as well as peace and comfort to the family. Also continued prayers for Chuck as he is given the proper advice and direction for his best health choices.
God Bless,Dennis

Looks like us REBS will have to go give the Yanks a hand. Take them some melting temps.
Good Evening from Blueberryhill....
I am home, and happy to be here. I have a long way to go, but I WILL make it. Thanks to all of you.
Chuck
8n,
Will the Aerotrain work on 031 track?
Not much going on tonight. I haven't had a chance to get the Christmas layout due to the people that I work for assuming that my job is the center of my life. It is really frustrating how they try to take advantage of the employees. If I didn't have to make payments on the Sunfire, I would have been gone a long time ago. Rant over.
On a more positive note, I've got tomorrow off so I'll get the Christmas layout done (hopefully...maybe), and also change the fingers in the 332.
WELCOME BACK CHUCK
Chuck,
Welcome back.
BACK CHUCK!!!!!
I'm packing up the weights and treadmill gonna spend CHRISTMAS with CHUCK. Gotta get him back in shape.
DID all the snowblowing in neighborhood this morning and then took dog for 2 long walks. All is good with the world. Getting down to 19 tonite so might have a 2 hr delay on the account of blowing and frozing roadways, I HOPE?
Blueberry - Very nice to see you, Sir.
Chief - Not answering the doorbell tonight, thank you very much.
laz - da bears...
CHUCK-WELCOME HOME
Be a good boy and get better.

Prayers so you will get better..
Merry Christmas!!!
Steve W. Well the driveway is 3/4 or more done. Ran out of daylight and muscle. I'm only good for a half hour of that and my arms and back just stop working, not to mention I can't breath after that amount of time. I also havn't put down the cigs yet so I have to take a brreak and recover then do another 30 mins. Wife and I took shifts and did petty well overall. Tomorrow I'll break through to the street and we're free LOL

Steve and everyone, far too many folks have both heart and other injuries from shovelling snow. Theory is that folks who are not used to vigorous activity are suddenly doing more than they are used to or should. Just be careful out there! Get a shovel that best suits you. When I was growing up, we used a coal shovel as it carried less snow weight.
Chuck, yours was a unexpected, but very welcomed phone call. I am so glad you are home for the holidays and that you and they have a action plan to take care of you. You are a good person and I look forward to reading more of your posts here.
Well, tonight's Christmas Cantata was fantastic. I was on camera and am feeling the pains in my legs now, but well worth it. Saw a number of folks from work and the community there who are not from our church, or even faith, but all were blessed. The program is going to be broadcast through the week on TV on several channels, so who knows how many folks will be impacted.
Looking forward to tomorrow at 0700 when I come off call! Then the rest of the week with the ramp up to Christmas and being with Dad. Caught up with one of our great ministers who had recently lost his wife. We are both blessed to know each other at a time when we face such similar issues.
WELCOME back CHUCK ans take it easy and do as the doc says hes really your friend.
chuck is back

Welcome Home Chuck!!!!
No snow today, athough some was forecast. Used a new electric griddle my wife bought me for Christmas. I had stopped at Walmart to get one last week, but they were out - because she got the last one. I told her I was going to another store the next evening for one and she broke down and gave it to me early
Just hung out all day and had a quiet day with the family. Read a book, watched some tv, drove my son and his friend around a little bit, and did some laundry. Batteries are recharged for my 2 day week coming up Obama gave me 4 hours off on Christmas Eve. I already had the day off as a vacation day - ha! Oh well, saved me a couple hours of leave.
Tardis is ready and I think we should make a few special stops tonight. God bless us, every one.
