Good night all. Wifey got in about an hour ago from shopping spree with her sisters. Bought lots chocolate coverd peanuts, peanut brittle and coated coconut candies. Thing I do not need. I cooked dinner for self. Spiral cut ham [already in frig], turnips from garden and some pre-cooked collards Miss Edna gave me. Took her turnips and stuff sausage. Spitting cold rain now. Windy Was icey wet stuff earlier. Had pretty snohio this afternoon but did not stick. Per neighbor at the lake house, by 6 PM ground was covered. Buddy in mountains sent email and had 7 inches of snohio at 6 PM. Think Brent and Fifey are in for a good one. Watched The Nativity Story on TV. They do a good job on that one.

Been busy here trying to get stuff done for Christmas, etc.. Sure you all know the same. Of course we have to have 2 Christmas trees, one in the living room, 1 in the family room. Both are 7' foot or taller.
Glad to hear Chuck's doing better! And Brutus' wifes situation is really great! That sure has been a long process! Of course Doug's situation is difficult, especially at this time of the year!
Hope all you guys do OK with the weather situation, it has been cool here also. As a matter of fact I had to put a heater in the train room! It has been getting down to 59 overnight. The room is not connected to the house's heating system so I monitor it pretty closely. I have a remote sensor in the room which monitors temp & humidity. It also keeps the "low" and "high" levels. It can really have some extreme temperatures out there! It has been as low as 57 with 48% humidity in the winter, and as high as 86 with 15% in the summer. So I keep track of it. Especially in these cold snaps like we are currently having, it only got up to 74 today. Suppose to get to 81 tomorrow. But we have another weather front coming in on Monday suppose to cool down again ! (I hate that!) Current forecast is may get to the mid - upper 60's by Christmas. We might have to have Christmas dinner on the patio. Oh Well !!!!
Was pleasantly surprised last night, got home from the office, and Chris had cut the grass, cleaned flower beds, and put out the trash. All I had to do was go out and water the lawn. Must be extending his Christmas wish list. lol, (it wont work).
Had a Dr's appointment early this week, nothing significant just usual stuff. He did tell me that after looking at our insurance policy, that I might be developing a case of "RAIDS". (Dennis have you hear of that?) Apparently, it can have dramatic affects, and the CDC doesn't even know about it. The Dr told me that a panademic was practically certain. Finally, I was able to get the full definition --- ("Recently Acquired Income Deficiency Syndrome").
I talked with Patrick earlier today, during the conversation he asked if I had a pool, told sure, (std. Ca issue). Asked, if Jon had seen the picture, so for Jon's benefit here it is; (also may help John Fullerton warm up some, he might remember sitting on the patio.)
Then might as well throw one in of dinner preparation. (Tardis crew welcome)
Well, better get going, got an early day tomorrow. Fortunately, should finish around noon, then need to go do some Christmas shopping. Hopefully, the weather will hold. Hate fighting all the crowds, and bad weather too!
Then if there is enough time will need to clean the pool filters. And finish the Christmas decorations. Things sure get busy this time of the year.

Wife has black eyed peas cooking...starting to smell good! I am sure I will have plenty of 'honey-dos' to tackle for the guests this weekend. One of the times I wouldn't mind a "emergency case" to pop up. Not complaining about the in laws, just not a big entertainer.

Woke up to a very wet heavy snow about 2" now.
Continued prayers for DougM and family and for a speedy recovery to Chuck. Both you guys were on my mind during my morning prayers.
Chief - I saw the NAtivity last night also, (bride was on the couch asleep). I agree, very well done. The scriptures for this weekend focus on the meeting between Elizabeth and Mary. I am delivering the homily this weekend, and that is the scriptures I working with. Still working on it. A lot to say but I figure, in a homily, one focus made well is better that a lot of random, semi connected thoughts. Oh well, I pray for inspiration and guidence to say what needs to be said.

Morning from the cold wet part of NC but not frozen. West of us big snohio and north into VA. Pat should be getting a lot. Glad Fifey is off or he would be slippity slidey all day. Flights north to DC and so on are canceled from RDU. May still go to Miss Edna's. We have the whole house decorated for Christmas but NO tree up. Debating on getting one of the three trees from attic. Oh well. Have a good one. Prayers for Chuck. Hope Doug M gets flight home.

Going out shopping with the Princess today. I get to eat real food, and I'm going to Burger King for a nice HAMBURGER. Dropped from 187 to 178. No way to lose poundage.
Sold some stuff on OGR and Yahoo. LGB is on the 'bay(anjdevil200 if you are interested).
So, I have some Christmas CASH coming in!! YEA!!

Chief, I have been watching the weather map and it looks kind of borderline for snow near you.
Don, nice shot of your pool and Bar-B-Que. As you know, my garage is unheated and uninsulated. It's a miracle that my trains have not melted in the summer or frozen in the winter but they seem to survive OK.
Prayers for safe trip for Doug to his dad's funeral.
Off to TCA Christmas meet today. Got call from a friend last night who wants to put on a live steam demo with small stationary steam engines. Two guys have some with electric heat source but the one I have been promised by another friend is fired with sterno or something like that. Anyway, I haven't got it yet.
Suppose to be in the high 70's today so maybe I will wear shorts to the meet.

Hello everyone......Its a winter wonderland out today....been out in it all morn getting food and prescriptions and stuff. This snow started about 5 hours earlier then I thought it would (should have paid closer attention). Back home now , got about 4 inches on the ground so if it keeps going till the AM we could maybe get 12 or so like they predicted. Too cold so no melting and the roads are very dangerous.......Steve

My son is out plowing our mile long drive. Couldn't get to the train bldg until he got to it first. Spent the day fooling with a Dulcimer by wife got me for Christmas. Interesting instrument.

WOW MEL NICE ENGINE!!! Is that the new NYC Lionmaster? How does it run?
Just want to tell you its 29 degrees here in Rhode Island.The snow has not started yet but already was told I can stay late and make some ot.If I had a pool like Don we could lace up the skates and break out the sticks and pucks.
This is the new Lionmaster NYC SD80MAC. I got it today and opened the box: Locomotive, cars , CW-80 transformer, 20 pieces of FASTRACK, and instruction manual. I need to move a BUNCH of stuff before I can set it up to run but it sure is purrrrty!!!
RRCharlie, you have a pretty engine. Bet it sounds great too. You would not have gotten it if you lived in the North Western part of the NC Mountains.

Folks we were WRONG about the amount of snow we had last night and yesterday. ACTUALLY we received between 23 and 26 inches of SNOW. We measured in many different places around the house and in the fields and woods late this morning and it changed a lot. Before, we measured on the decks but high winds had changed all that. This afternoon, and now, it is snowing and over an inch has fallen.
We CANNOT GO anywhere. Even the ATV cannot go because the snow is SO deep. Got stuck right out of the shed. Also, It is very difficult to walk. Sure hope and pray that no one has a health problem in the areas of deep snow.

Horrible weather in Buckeyeland. Just a trace of snow and it was above freezing with no winds. Iowa has had great weather. Maryland has had great weather. What did we do wrong in Ohio? I guess I'll just go out to garage and wash and wax the snowblower again.
I talked to Chuck's wife today. He should be home by Monday and then he will be heading to OSU for more tests. If you would like to send him a get well card, send me a private email and I will provide you his address out in the sticks of Ohio.
Tomorrow night is the big neighborhood party. I have been working all day to get the train room ready. When running trains for the party I have learned to run the most reliable locomotives in the fleet. Interestingly, two of them are Williams. The K-Line Amtrack FP-40 is acting strange. The Lionel B&O FT acts like it has a short. I have always had trouble with the K-Line Mikato and today it threw a traction tire.

Mel, Sweet lookin engine.
Had our Christmas run at the museum yesterday, sure was kinda slim on visitors though. Oh well, it was still fun even though I didn't get to giveaway all the candy canes. The club Christmas Party was thursday nite, good prime rib & baked potatoe. Took the grandson with us, second year in a row, he won a "Choo Choo Charlie" pop-up book. Pretty cool and he loves it, almost fainted though when I was told what some collectors are paying for them.
Won't say much about the nasty weather you guys are getting, however I may have to ask "Shake & Bake" if he has a little extra sunscreen he can spare. Don't want to get a sunburn at the beach.

It is cloudy in SE Indiana with temps around 30. We got some Shohio, just enough to cover the green parts, but left the roads clear. Last night went to the YMCA and did weights and soccer drills and a short treadmill run. Watched "Dollhouse". Today wrapped packages (all day long). Lucas and I went to the YMCA. Did weights and soccer drills, then he and I scrimmaged for 15 minutes. I could out maneuver him, but then he would still out run me to the ball. He won 4-2. Last day of work Friday was fairly quiet. Off for next two weeks!!!!! First time I have had two weeks off in seven years. Really going to enjoy this. I need it. Christmas tree is up but undecorated. Will do that tomorrow. Prayers for safe trip for Doug M. and family. Prayers for Chuck so that he gets better and STOPS smoking! Continued prayers for Brutus' wife and for Brent's leg (and Brent and Susie-Q's "project"). Prayers also for Jim with his homily tomorrow (one of the toughest gigs in the world). "Saucy wench" sent a boxcar of bacon and biscuits to "Points East". OK, Dennis W. may not agree on it being good for the heart, but those biscuits will cure anything (or at least warm the heart). TBIL, and I can drive. You guys have carried on my driving turns long enough and now I will pull extra shifts for you. I hope everyone has a good day.

Buckeye--sorry about your horrible/terrible weather, hopefully that will change in January & February. We had kind of a bad weather day here, temps in the upper 20's and no precipitation, dang. Looking better for Christmas Eve day with snow/sleet and winds, YES! Thankfully, we will have a nice white Christmas .... what could be more perfect

Fife, I have not heard of the Great Walton Railroad, but sounds interesting. May have to take that in soon. Mel, That is one sweeeeet engine! If I ran more modern equipment, I'd certainly go for that. Congratulations. Still keeping Chuck and Doug in the prayers. Have a few unspoken for some here.
We had a great day with the in laws. Just about everyone is asleep now. I am heading there soon. Been watching the Cowboys spank the Saints. Since neither team is in my list of favorites, I am just enjoying the game.
Sorry for all the guys dealing with bad weather. I think the heat came on at some point here, but I am still in shorts. Cooked a turkey in the Oil-less fryer...all good. Kids played out back for some time. The weather looks good for tomorrow. I will be up early to make breakfast and then head into church. Tomorrow night our music department is having their Christmas Cantata. I will be on the camera...they don't let me sing, which is a good thing.
