Aloha all. Sunny and cold here. Going to have highs in the 40s this weekend. Yeouch. I'll feel it at 0dark30 on Saturday probably. Great ride home with Sir J, Charlie and Brutus last evening. Going to go bother a film crew later today - filming the latest installment in those Meet the Fockers movies right next door in Grant Park. Beautiful TMs Chuck! Nice win, Chief!

Morning all.  Got one TV interview this AM and maybe another one later as the other main TV station has found out their competitor is running one on the H6 site.  [wonder how they found out Whistling]  Misty rain off and on for several days but calling for fast clearing and wind.  Maybe disk the rest of my garden and neighbor's.  He needs turnips sown so will try and get that done for him.

Harold Brown, sorry I missed your post.  Nice to have you visit the Pot.  Especially from WAY UP NAWTH.  Have visited RI [oops just went through it Wink].  Keep on posting.  Good to hear from folks up that way.  Use to go to NH a lot on business [part time job headquartered there].

SJ, guess what I had for breakfast this AM.  You guessed it.  GRITS

Hope all have a great day.

Fife,

I make it a point to not leave anything of any value in plain sight, or even in the car for that matter. I am planning on installing a switch inline with the fuel pump and hiding it where someone wouldn't think to look. Should I replace the lock cylinder? What else could I do to reduce the chances of theft, other than "accessorizing" myself?

Good Morning

Chief: BLTs this morning. The Ts I brought in and wrapped are turning red. Yum.

Home from the Doc's no bad news, blood results tomorrow. Most folks around here didn't get much sleep last night. The wind was howling sounded like January snow storm. Nice ride home with Doug M. and the guys last nite. We talked about York in the spring and Charlie wants me to wear PJs at bed time. Geez I just want to be me, ya know....S.J.

When I was doing part of my internship in Miami, I had a Caddy....I know, thief magnet!  Anyway, my dad had installed a solenoid between the battery (+) and the starter.  The ground stud (not the common), went to a hole in the dash in a screw hole that was bored out.  We had put a small speaker jack receptical there that when I installed the other part of the jack, it made ground and allowed the solenoid to open and the car to start.  Saved the vehicle twice from being stollen, but I did have to replace the rear small window both times.  Also had to repair the collar on the steering wheel where they had popped it with a screw driver.

Just about done for the day.  Three cases finished and hopefully will have lunch with my bride.

LOL. Trunk Monkey is great.  Colt is more like what I am thinking though.Evil

The latest set of Flyer 650s arrived a few minutes ago. They are nice, aside from the fact that the seller stuffed them into a box without any regard for the link couplers.Disapprove I'll have to put another $40 into these now before they can be used, because all three cars have damaged couplers.Sigh

 Hello all,

Windy as he** here today. My carport was swaying two feet when I left this morning.

Fife - been doing some sort of two wheeled competition since I was 16. Broke only one helmet (my head was in it) and my ankle, two years ago. Too many bruises to count. On the hill the race is against the clock. If you get out of shape you can stop with out worrying about what or who is behind you. That's where most of my problems came from.

Dennis- That's a great idea. They can't even drain the battery cranking it.

Hope to get back to the tractor this evening

Harold- Sign - Welcome

Prayers to all who need them

Cold, wet, and in clouds on the mountain this morning. Head home this afternoon to find the sun again. Got a fair bit done this week. I had a little fun last night. We were changing the oil on the building gear boxes. They are several hundred pounds, 400 to 1 ratio, and 8 feet over your head. This of course necessitates putting a 5 gallon bucket on a ladder to drain the oil. No, it wasn't nearly as bad as some of you are now thinking. Ended up putting in slightly too much. You never get the full amount out of these things. Tried to do the old pull-the-drainplug-to-let-some-out-and-quickly-put-it-back-in trick. Got it out only to drop it in the FULL five gallon bucket of used gear oil. My co-worker said he wished he had a camera for the split second look on my face before I plunged my work shirted sleeved arm to the bottom of the bucket. Screwed it back in and darned if the level wasn't right on. Don't try this at home.

Brent - Really liked the link about the Eagle Scout letter. I went before my review board within hours of turning 18. Never thought of it as something for those on the road less travelled, but in retrospect it definitely is. It would seem I certainly chose that path. And my Eagle project involved me doing the bravest thing I've ever done. I wore my scout uniform all day to high school.

Harold - Welcome! Supposedly my many times great uncle is Roger Williams and I know he hails from your way.

Well, off to find something to eat and then finish up a few more things before heading home.

 Greetings!

I saw several references to "Trunk Monkey". Having lived a sheltered life and not knowing what that was, I looked it up.  Wikipedia recites 8 ads about the antics of "Trunk Monkey" I found very funny. However groups like PETA have objected and the ads will probably disappear.Thumbs DownDisapproveSad

Bob - Been there, done that when changing the oil in the big Ford tractor. However, I got a splash in the face when the drain plug dropped. I assure you what came out of my mouth was not the song "Suwanee River".

Banks - Way to go on the GRITS. Just shows how intelligent you are!Approve

Ray - Let's hope the Titanic Memorial Cruise is not a COMPLETE repeat (watch those glaziers).

Bob Mitchell and any other unfortunate victims of traffic light cameras

I can't speak for your state, but in Ohio....they are completely unenforceable.

In Ohio, they are owned and operated by a private company....who has no more

authority to collect a fine based upon state or local code than I do. It has already

been proven in NW Ohio that the yellow lights have been dramatically shortened.

The only places that I am aware that they might be enforceable is where they are

owned  and operated by a state or municipality.....however those are in question

in many areas.

These are deals set up between private companies and the local government. The

basic proposal is....."hey....we'll set up these cameras and maintain them at certain

intersections and give you a cut of the money......" . It started here with just a small

fine $25.00 now it's nearly $200.00.....not about the money??? If it were truly about

safety then I think more intersections should be constructed the way many are in

North Suburban Detroit area.....no left turns period. They way they are set up is that

you must either go straight or make a right turn and make a u turn at a specially

designed median area. Accidents in those areas....other than rear ends....are rare.

Sorry.....my 2 cents worth! Wink

Interesting substitute for Loctite is model cement. I learned this from the optometrist

my Mom used to work for. Model cement of course is designed to soften and bond

plastic.....so you don't want to use it where a screw goes into plastic. It does give an

amazing strength to metal on metal joints. Or, in the alternative simple Elmer's white

glue works. That's also what you can use if the screw is going into plastic. I've used

both of these for years.

underworld back in the mid 70's the westchester/ west goshen of Pa. area on rt 100 designed some changes to the point that you could only make right turns off of rt 100 it had it set where there was like a clover leaf that would swing around to a trafic light and thats was how you made your left or U turn .

Chilly 50s today.

Traffic tickets are all about money. If it were anything else they would still be $25.

Waiting for Brutus and the thingy. Banilla and root beer are ready.

Laz -- TREMENDOUS PICS, THANKS!!  One of the things on my bucket list is to fly fish in either Colorado or Montana, I really want to try it.  We have family near Kremmling CO and there are some fine streams there, just need to make the committment and do it.

How many of you remember the movie "A River Runs Throught It"?  The year was 1992 and it was Robert Redford and Brad Pitt -- the scenery was awesome, I can't imagine anything more beautiful and relaxing.  Seeing Laz and his BRO brought that movie to my mind immediately.  I should see if I could find that movieon Blu Ray now that I have a decent TV.  Sorry for digressing.

Jon, thought of you earlier tonight.  Through watching some YouTube videos of some shows/musical events over the years, I came across one of my favorite singer/actress...Lea Salonga.  Not sure if you have heard of her, but she recently gave some concerts out your way.  If you get a chance, look her up.  She is from the Philippines.  I saw her on Broadway in Les Miserables.

Well, it is late and I really have to get some sleep.  Hope everyone has a beautiful night.

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 50 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  S'posed to be very pleasant until the bottom drops out Friday night.  May have to bring in palm tree.

Lost power for several hours due to high winds yesterday.  Spent afternoon directing traffic at busy intersection.  Thousands of people moved by us without incident, yet still there were a handfull of nitwits that were on their own agenda  (making their own lanes/cutting a turn unexpectedly in front of others/even a minor rear ender).  Trust me, sir james, some people need, nay - demand a ticket from time to time.

Laz - Beauties!!! ApproveThumbs Up  Now, please, wash your hands.

Good morning all,

It is cloudy and rainy in SE Indiana with temps in the 50s.  I hope there is a "window over Terre Haute" at the soccer game tonight, or else it will be really miserable.  I was at practice for a while and came home to mow the yard.  I had not planned to do that, but the weather conditions were the best they were going to be for the next few days, and this frees up some of my time to the point where I might be able to enjoy next Monday off.  We also watched "Glee".  I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning before sending it to "Points East".  TBIL for pickup after the game tonight.  One thought did occur to me.  If the game tonight is postponed due to lightning, they will have to play it on FRIDAY night.  Imagine that.  A high school soccer game on Friday night instead of football.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Aloha all. Cool and grey. The youngest has a few days off for some reason, maybe we'll go to the train museum in Union. Free during the week. Closing soon though. Laz, thought of you as got invited to go to  WI and try to catch salmon. Never been. This buddy has all the gear though. Great pics! We have red light cameras all over the place, though a few towns have yanked them. All outsourced to essentially one 'clouted' company.  Kurt, I couldn't get anywhere closer to the set to "Little Fockers" - too many security guards and trailers. Though there was no one else out there in that part of the park. So avoid being on the news though I'm sure I'm in a few survelliance cameras.... the old guy on the scooter. LOL.

Morning all.  Cool and sunny.  Warming into the mid 70's.  80's tomorrow.  Did my job as props man at Church last night.  One more practice Sat morning.  Hope to disk somemore garden today and prepare greenhouse for plants.  A little frost might pop up in the coming weeks so want to be prepared.  Got a cucumber from volunteered ones where I disked the garden.  They are loaded with little ones.  If no frost in the next two weeks, will have second crop.  Got to go to the gym.  TV thing was Ok but she editied out the best parts.  Stuck herself in a lot instead of the folks she interviewed.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cool 38 degrees.  Sun is trying to shine. Going up to 64 today, with some rain, later.

Today is a busy day. Wife is going grocery shopping. Gas is at $2.39 a gallon, which is still too high, compared to the price of a barrel of oil.

I will run trains today ,this afternoon. I have some nice pictures to post on this Sunday's  SPF.

Dining car arrived from "Points West", and we had the usual for  breakfast.

Y'all have a great Thursday.
