GOOD EVENING

Weather stayed ok, boys actually showed up and now the boat is in it's winter spot. Patio is the best place, it's on cement and out of the way. I can't do it alone as it has to be taken across the lawn and into the back.

Banilla is waiting for Brutus and the thingy. Monday is near...S.J.

Charlie,

Did you get a chance to talk to Rich M.? He is the one who is usually behind the throttle of the 765.

Jim- Andy had first trick on 765 from Owosso, Alma to Cadillac.  Rich came on after the engines were turned.  I think I just missed him.

Dennis - sorry for your loss, sir Sad

Chuck - hope it shows up tomorrow, love those engines too Thumbs Up

8NTRUCK!  Sounds like they are feeding you pretty well anyway, hope you get the job done asap!

Nice chats with RT, Charlie and Sir James tonight.  Slept in a little today - that O ring appears to have worked.  Told the kids they were helping me work on the basement.  We set up some sawhorses on the back patio and took out all the cut-offs and pieces of drywall that had been stacking up against the walls in the basement.  Also cut up some pieces of 2x4 and other scrap.  Filled about 20 big black trash bags - heavy duty ones.  Not sure how big they are - not 32 gallons, they won't fit that can.  But, they are big enough!  I kicked them each $15, took them to dinner and then out to the book store to spend it, so they were happy.  Had a good talk with them about team work and helping the family etc.  Prep work.  Also had some good Dad/kids time Thumbs Up

TARDIS is ready and I see a few beacons still on this late, so better get moving!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Never pay any attention to anything from Ohizo.  If you do kill your checking account, if it is for trains, then not all is lost.

Evening all! (OK, early morning to you Easterners!). Hey Dennis and of course anyone else....If you get the chance go see a movie that just came out called "Lord, Save us from yor followers". Very interesting documentary. I am not the most religioous person in the world but this movie made me stop and think about some things. Alot of it was filmed/based here in Portland Oregon. Let me know what you think after you see it. I am going again Tuesday with the Paster of our Church and his wife. Since it is Paster appreeciation month, this will be my gift of appreciation to him.

Entertaining game in Foxborro yesterday.  Coulda went either way...except for the refs and the BRADY rule. Blindfold  T'was a good day...not a great day.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 50s...eventually.  Fifedog, I am a fan of Tony Stewart as much as anyone, and I was happy to see him win.  However, I must politely and respectfully disagree with one of your statements, and I think even Tony would agree with me.  He is not the driver of the 14.  That number has been and will always be associated primarily with the Legend, A J Foyt, Jr.  Tony asked AJ if permission to use the number for NASCAR and AJ said ok.  Do not get me wrong.  Tony Stewart is a great driver and has won championships in both NASCAR and Indycar, but he has not won the Indy 500 or the Daytona 500.  I hope there is a time when Tony comes back to Indy.

Watched "Housewives".  It was good.  Tardis ride was uneventful.  I had bran muffins on the dining car for breakfast this morning before sending it to "Points East".   TBIL, but please pick me up after "my" soccer girls last regular season game tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

cheapclassics - You are absolutely correct on all accounts.  I was trying to highlight the 14, and the toolbar kept hiccuping.  And I too, would love to see Tony take another swing at the INDY 500.

Aloha all. Happy to be back at work today - it was an exhausting weekend. Prayers for your friends family, Dennis. Welcome Harold and TIm! Maybe it's not too late to go apple picking here - the youngest is off the end of this week. Fire safety day is tomorrow at the youngest's school. He's super-excited as only a 7 yr old can be anticipating the arrival of the fire truck and safety house. Crisp, cool, sunny fall day here in Chicago. How 'bout those Bears, Laz? Can't believe Notre Dame won too. Brutus, looks like you accomplished a lot. Mike C, you would've been proud of my waving the line flags during the youngest' s soccer games.

Morning all.  GRITS.  Have not had any in a while.  Do not eat breakfast unless it is a breakfast meeting.  Gym time during breakfast time so no eating.  Light snack [mainly an energy bar] for lunch and then dinner.  Trying to cut back on the belly.  Just did 2.3 miles on the tread mill and 40 abb crunches with 70 lbs weight.  Felt a little tired this AM so did not push it as far.  Probably because it was last Wed when I last worked out.  Grits are a good meal and will not fatten you unless you add the "fattening."  Off to move some furniture for my Oldest's co-worker and friend [one of the down sides of having a pickup].  Then Town Hall, County Commissioners and then Town Board tonight.  Got to go.  Have a good one.

Well, have a big case in the morning.  Heading off to bed.  Before I go though, Rich, isn't Florida just a bunch of New York/New Jersey folks who took over the area?  For some reason, I think I heard that you can be from the north and still not abdicate your Yankee heritage while living in Florida.

Good morning all,

It IS another beautiful sunny day in SE Indiana.  I got a very nice e-mail from my Norwegian soccer friend, and the long timers here know how that always makes my day.  Fifedog, thank you for the reply.  Doug M., welcome to the sidelines!  If you want the best view of the game, be a referee sometime.

Chief,

I guess that is one way to look at it.

I am really upset right now. As I came up the street this morning, I noticed a box hanging out of my mailbox. I had to push against the mailbox just to pull it out because it was jammed in there. The box is smashed, and the 651 baggage car inside got crushed as well.Angry Both sides of the body are smashed, and the 4 pins that hold the body to the frame were pushed out completely. When I bough the car, it was perfect. I took pictures, and I am waiting for the postmaster to return my call. I'll try to find another 651 while I wait.

Good luck.  They may claim it was not insured.  If they do, tell them poor handling by their employee is no excuse.  The pull a Chief Eagles and go to Postmaster's District Manager.

Fifey, sorry.  Forgot to mention, no word on my charger request.  That must be my answer.  They are hurting like all bussinesses.   We are not doing shows or Grand Openings.

Off to County Commissioners.  Later

Well, I'm glad the last 24 hours are over. No solid foods yesterday then the dreaded two liters of magic motion potion to get the plumbing working for this morning's slim camera/tube  procedure.  The worst part of that whole exam is drinking that amount of magic water in such a short period of time and not planning on doing anything for a couple of hours ........... Great staff this morning, they make it easy, results this Friday as 3 small polyps removed & cauterized.  I know, I know---should have been done a long time ago.

I'm looking for a MTH Standard Guage white Christmas train, anyone know the numbers?  I have all the catalogues down stairs and I just need to sort through them, but I'm lazy.  I have not seen the train but a friend has one and loves it, I'm thinking about putting it out in our new 4 season room this December with a new tree, one can never have too many Christmas trees or trains.

We still haven't had any frost so the annuals and perennials continue looking good around here,  We truly have had a wonderfully warm fall with little rain, we did get rain this last Thursday, Friday & Sauturday, that will slow the harvest down for a few day.

Time for some REAL coffee Thumbs Up

Jon

Chief,

Thanks for the tip. I want my $18.99 out of the carrier's pocket  along with an apology. There is no excuse for treating packages like that.  I found another 651, but it'll be $70 before shipping. The one that USPS destroyed was close to like new and only $18.99.

RT,

Thanks for the link, but I got the issue resolved. I appreciate the the fact that you took the time to look for me. Thanks for that.

Well, I got tired of waiting for the postmaster to call, so I took the car, invoice, packaging, and photos of the unopened box down to the PO. The postmaster was there, so we discussed the problem. He said that the carrier that was responsible was a sub for the normal carrier, and that this isn't the first time this happened with this sub. He offered to purchase the car from me for the $18.99 that I paid, but I told him that the money isn't important. I explained that the rough handling of the package was what bothered me.  He assured me that he would discipline the sub. I thanked him for hearing my side of the story and came home.  I straightened the damage, and I'll just clean the rest up and move on with collecting.Smile

Dennis, sorry to hear about the tragic death of your friend's father.  We can't explain why these things happen but all we can do is offer prayers for the family. R.I.P.

Good afternoon all, went to TTOS meet yesterday.  Best buy of the day looked like a MTH Railking Rio Grande steam engine 4-6-0 proto 2 with wood burning tender in excellent shape for $200.  Original price was around $350.  Table sales less than last month probably because sellers are holding off for Cal Stewart meet next month.  Just a guess.

Cool weather continues all this week week with temps in the 70's predicted.  Good for working in the garage and running trains.  Got a little advice from a couple of guys on the other forum about how to take shell off of an MTH premier N&W Y6b 2-8-8-2 but decided to hold off for a while.  Put a drop of crazy glue on screw ends of pick up roller assemblys to keep them from backing out.  Works so far.  My N&W Class A 2-6-6-4 is different.  Screw heads are on the outside of engine which makes it easier to tighten.

Helping wife get food baskets ready from our church food bank for the next two weeks for people in need.  Good excersise toting those heavy boxes but have to be careful of the back when lifting.

Ran trains this morning after walk and gave them a good work out with no mishaps other than one traction tire needed replacing on the N&W Class A.

Have to pick up grandson at school today.  Always a zoo with all the people picking up kids.  Too bad kids can't walk to school like we did but too many wierdos in the world today.

Have a good week all,

Ray

Good Evening all.  Thanks for all the kind words.  In the end, his dad was blessed with a good life for a good number of years.  He always had a smile every time I saw him.  He had a collection of Hudsons and each time he'd drive up, those whitewalls were polished, chrome shined, and the perfect colors of the paint let you know the owner was proud of it.

Ray, I would suggest using Blue Locktite on your screws.  You apply a small amount to the threads and it keeps them locked in.  Definitely use the Blue verses the Red.  Red needs heat to unlock it, where as Blue will release with a hard twist.  Works better than Super Glue as it won't mar the finish and is easily undone.

Well, had a long case this morning and all worked out fine.  Just a lot of surgery on one patient.  Also got to do some teaching for some medical students rotating through.  Rumor has it that ours is the best rotation that Medical College of Georgia has.  We only take a few at a time, but introduce them to a lot of innovative practices.  While there is a lot of uncertainty with the future of medicine, they all have a very good outlook.  Problem is getting them to complete certain specialty groups.  Over 60 percent of Cardiovascular fellowships go unfilled due to a dim future.

Spoke with a friend up in Delaware tonight.  Been a long time since talking to him.  He's a retired county cop from NJ and has a load of great stories.  Seems a lot of his buddies from North Jersey are in his area and they all get together for Golf, etc.  He has also been through a lot and is the type to always help out.  As some here know, I don't talk much on the phone.  Probably should do more of that as too many friends are a long way off and you never know when you'll get the next chance.

Anyway, hope that everyone has a great night.  Wife and kids are in bed, dog is waiting for me to get in the bed....he will jump up and lay next to my feet after I lay down.

God Bless,
Dennis

 Hello all,

Dennis, Sorry about your loss

Tried GRITS for breakfast Saturday, not bad. I will add them to my breakfast rotation.

Sunday was the last Hillclimb of the season. Frst time in about 10 years I'm not in the points race in either of my classes. Oh well, I've got at least ten years on the competition. I fell good just doing it.

The end of hillclimb season brings on the urge to go hunting and get some inside the house stuff done, including TRAINS. Still have to get the head off the Massey Ferguson and try to figure out why this is the second time the head gasket has blown since I rebuilt the engine

It's past my bedtime. i was cheking Ebay and couldn't resist stopping in for a cup, hope it don't keep me awake.

Prayers for all who need them

 Morning All,

Just stopping by for a quick cup.  The Mrs. is home from Texas, she had a nice visit with her sisters but came down with a cold. Hope she gets better soon. You know what they say, if Momma ain't happy, nobody's happy.

Jon - glad to hear the test is over. Prep is the worst in my opinion. Guess I'll need to have one again soon. It's been about 5 years. Yuck!

Banged Head  Got a letter in the mail from Baltimore City, seems as though one of their stop light cameras snapped a picture of my car running a red light.  If I had the energy and time, I'd go to court because the light changed bam - bam from green to yellow to red just as I crossed the line at the intersection. Not worth the trouble of fighting it because a picture is worth a thousand words. Still it is aggravating because that's $$$ I won't have to spend at the train show.

Well I better get going, I have an early meeting at work.

Take care,

Mitch

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 60s, but rain is moving in later on.  "My" soccer girls came crashing back to reality last night with 4-0 losses for both varsity and JV.  I do not recall if I mentioned here that one of our best players was injured on Saturday.  She lives with her grandparents and her mom is in California (long story), and I heard that her health coverage in Indiana is only good for ER types of services.  In other words, if she needs an MRI done for a diagnosis or surgery for an ACL tear, she has to go back to California?!??!?!!?!  What the.....???  I am sure there are wiser and more knowledgable people here on the forum concerning this matter that could enlighten me on this matter, but this is new to me.  I definitely do not want to ignite a political firestorm, but if health care reform addresses that issue alone, I am there.  I am now off my soapbox.

Jim, glad to hear the postmaster was an agreeable person.  Sometimes those types of people do exist.  Sorry to hear about the car, tho.  Dennis W., sorry to hear the news you had.

I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning before sending it to "Points East".  All quiet on the Tardis except for when some of the passengers tried to do "Dancing with the Stars".  No offense, but I think Tom Delay was doing about as good :-)   TBIL, and I can drive.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Fife - we do that for you older guys! Wink

Mitch - been there... done that... I got nailed at the light on 40 in Ellicott City... then The Q got one on 27 in Damascus (speed camera)... then I got one at the same camera! Grrrr... $40 <> the time off from work to go fight it and since no points it makes less sense. Just drives me nuts because they claim it is for safety when we all know it just to make $$$ without having to pay an officer to sit there and use their judgement if a ticket is warranted.

JimT - been there... done that... when I shipped a package to a certain liar/scam artist in California a couple years ago the items arrived damaged (or so they claimed) since I had insurance on the items I was able to recoup my money + shipping. That is the nice thing about dealing with a small USPO. They typically know everyone in their delivery area and do everything they can to keep them happy (within reason).

I weighted myself this morning... I've lost 10 lbs! and am back into 36 inch waist pants again for the first time in 2 years! SmileApprove I called The Q and told her and all I got was 'That's nice. I'm in traffic.' Kinda took the air out of my sails till I got to work and a friend of mine in HR says, 'Hey Brent. Have you lost weight?' Big SmileThumbs Up

Have 90% of the drywall up in the sunroom. Hope to get the rest up tonight and get a coat of spackle on the joints. Tomorrow I'll get the final coat of spackle up, finish packing insulation around the windows, and finish putting the plastic up on the windows (I use that tacky plastic they put on hardwood floors and carpet in homes they are showing, goes up easy, comes off easy, and leaves no residue - and there is NO need to use that stupid blue tape on the windows Smile). Painting all day Thursday!
