dbaker48but just can't wait to find out what Ray came up with at the local train shows
Morning all, boy did I goof. I said the TTOS Southwestern Div. train meet was yesterday, Sept. 6th, however it is not until next Sunday the 13th. Luckily, I looked at my meet notice before I went down there. I hope nobody else went on account of my post. I doubt it, I don't think anyone even noticed except maybe dbaker.
I did pick up a GG1 Tuscan red shell only for my Williams scale engine off one of the buy sell sites and have been running the heck out of that lately. I don't have any Pennsy passenger cars left so I'm running N&W tuscan colored cars instead. What the heck, works for me and looks good too. Cheaper than buying more identical cars just to get a different name on them.
Smoke from fires has finally cleared up here. Took my first two mile walk this morning in about two weeks. I have been taking shorter ones while the smoke was a question.
I have a circus train given to me by a dear friend who because of health problems can no longer do anything with his trains. He sold them all except the one he gave me. I need to run it more. That GG1 would work with it but I think my Santa Fe warbonnet F units look the best cause it gives it a little extra flash. He kit bashed some extruded aluminum cars for the train by taking the skirts off and mounting underbody detail that you can see. The cars were alreadly lettered for Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey. The train also has four long flat cars for other circus equipment. It has some cages, trucks, human cannon, containers of all types etc. Unfortunately, I don't have enough shelf room to display it so I keep it in a box and rotate it out once in a while.
Wife and I have to play host to our church social group that is meeting tomorrow night. Have to round up refreshments today and get everything ready. Put some chemicals in my pool yesterday and it should be ready for swimming today if anyone in the family cares. After this current hot spell, the swimming season will be over when the water starts to cool down. At least it will be over for me. When it goes below 80, I'm out of there.
Have to re new some magazine subscriptions soon. I'm sure CTT is closed today so I will call them tomorrow. Now to run some trains before it gets to hot in the garage.
Have a good holiday everyone,
Ray

Somewhat cool and overcast in South Georgia today. Went out to look at areas I still need to weed and decided trains were more important. Dis-assembled the tugboat again, tested the resistor, and no heat. Sent an e-mail to Lionel to see whether they will repair it for me if I send the board back. I took pictures as I was taking the boat apart but I don't know if I can still get to my Photo Bucket account to get them posted on the Forum in case any one else decides they want to get into their boat for repair work.

Good afternoon all,
It is a cloudy day in SE Indiana. We are cleaning windows and I will be going to practice with "my" soccer girls. I had cereal and donuts on the dining car this morning for breakfast. TBIL. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Back from the ball-game. Good guys won. The youngest got to run the bases. Now to grill whatever's in the fridge.

Home. Raining. Got some things to tell. Congrats to Jon with the new Grandson [he sent me an email as have not had time to read the POT]. Had one hour's "worth" of emails to read. Dinner is ready. Later.

Afternoon Y'all! Well, what was supposed to be a nice weekend with the family went bust. Got called out from Church to do a case, then, had to go in again at 0430 this morning for a emergency case. Came home at 1345 to be told by SWMBO that we were heading to some friends for a BBQ and cake for our daughter's birthday....in 15 minutes! I am a bit wooped. Will work on the layout in the morning. Right now, I need some sleep. Have another case tomorrow, but not scheduled till noon. One of our emergency cases was a truck driver from the mid-west. Had no family around and I am sure his wife was besides herself while we were operating. All went well.
Dougdagrump, got your email, but have been very busy. Am interested, but the timing is wrong. Thanks for keeping me in mind.

Was a great weekend. Our band played one of the big parties down on Lane Avenue, and got to watch the Buckeye's work for their win against Navy. Hopefully USC isn't too hard on us. It was nice to have a day off today. Just got back from Labor Day dinner. Time to give Jack a bath and watch some Blues Clues...

Hello all
Haven't read the Pot in a few days. I'll start now till I get too sleepy
Been busy here, finished second cutting hay, rye and oats are cut.
Wife & I froze Cauliflower this evening. Tomatoes are not doing well. only have two five gallon buckets to do, we'll probably use them for juice. Beets are lousy too. Moles ate most of them.
Prayers for all who need them

Hey guys HAPPY LABOR DAY 2009!
Jon - Congas, Gran Pop!!
for those that need 'em
Nice to 'see" ya RR Charlie, miss our Saturdays at the 'Works....
Feeling better, got the energy to rip apart the layout and clean up things. Removed the real thin piece of melamine and replace it with celotex /homosote. re-did the track plan slightly. I now have more room for buildings. Been dry here for about 5 days now. HD having more issues, brought it to HD couldn't shift it into or out of N to 2nd. Another $250 repair. I've only had it a year.
I'll try to post new pics on the SPF

I did more work on the layout today. I made a lot of progress on the trackplan, and I should have it done tomorrow or Wednesday. I've been holding off on pics because things are a bit messy right now.
Has anyone ever painted pegboard? One half of the basement is finished, but the other half that the layout is in only has brown pegboard on the walls. I was thinking of painting it white to brighten things up.
Up late last night. Stumbled into "Silver Streak" on the TV. Watched about the last half.
Got the copper pipe finished up this afternoon. No leaks when I turned the water on either. Trip to Lowes for the heat duct parts was a bust. I'll have to talk to some of the HVAC contractors in town to get what I want.
Kurt - thanks for mentioning Bob-Lo island. That jogged some of the earliest memories I have of my grandfather.
Back to work tomorrow.
Hope Everyone had a nice holiday.
Pretty nice weather here and in the north country. I did spy some red on many trees "Up North". Does that mean Train Season is back?
Charlie a.k.a. MichiganRailRoad714 (Charter Member TTC)
Charlie, it's always train season!
Good early morning to every one. Got lots going on, so getting an early start. Hope everyone has had a great labor day. See where the Jerry Lewis telethon has raised over 60 Million dollars. That is a lot in this economy. When I was with the IAFF, that was our big fundraiser for the year. We used to do a "Boot Drive".
Have a friend who's daughter was just diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. She is about 8 years old. Going to be a long road for them as kids diets are so varied and their metabolism is off the charts. Never mind hormone levels in a few years. Fortunately, they have a strong faith.
God Bless,
Morning to All.
Just dropping by for a quick cup. Busy here over the last two weeks with opening of school, back to school nights. and moving son out of one apartment into to a temporary place until a new apartment isready in two weeks. Lots more back to school nights in the next two weeks. Also some craziness over the President's Speech to school children. There are some real loonies in this world and I talked to several of them last Friday. Makes me wonder why I keep working. Sometimes the aggravation factor is just amazing.
Got to go now.
Take care,
Mitch

HI GYZ,

Good morning all,
It is foggy in SE Indiana. Subbed for missing kids at practice last night. Had to play midfield (Yech!). Too much running. Was tired. Watched "Antiques Roadshow" and "History Detectives" on PBS. I had the regular fare on the dining car. TBIL.. I hope everyone has a good day.
Mornin' boys. Gloomy & 66 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Last day of stay-cation. Laundry, oil-change, paint the closet round out the to-do list today.
Good Morning from foggy land ... great weather in the morning to be working outside but not so great for those folks driving to work. Looks like we are in a transition period for weather.
Thanks everyone for the good wishes with the new grandson, we are blessed to be sure. Everything seems to be going well, Grammie stayed with the kids through this weekend, they requested her prescence. I was able to leave later Sunday afternoon as I have days and days worth of work with tilling/seeding/watering/etc. Our landscaping project is 99% done but I have big areas of reseeding and making sure all the new plants are watered regularly. I ran the tiller for 4 hours yesterday then reseeded and raked all afternonn, double ugh. I did sleep well. The kids will have the Baptism later this month so lots of family coming in, then once Oct. 3 arrives I'm busy every weekend judging marching band competitions around the midwest. Oct. 3 is the worst day as I have a morning competition to adjudicate and the drive aother 100 mies for another afternoon/evening show. I do enjoy it plus it's a short season as I finish Oct. 24.
Mitch ... hang in there, not easy being the point man. Just remember, last weekend there was a full moon and the spooks do come out. I remember that the strangest calls I would get from parents were typically on a Saturday night, I think alcohol and a full moon were a double whammy. Makes retirement that much more enjoyable to look forward to.
Last week when the landscaping crew finished they wanted to see the trains run, it was great. They were at the end of a long day but still hung around for another 40 minutes while I ran the trains and they just loved it. Even enjoyed pushing all the accessory buttons. I always tell everyone that if they have a neighbor or grandparent or someone that might enjoy seeing the trains run to bring them out, just call a few days in advance. I've actually had a few folks do that, not many but those that do come out really enjoy themselves. We've thought many times about doing a December open house but our driveway is gravel and steep ... if there were any snow or ice it would a challenge.
Time to get busy.
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
8ntruck Kurt - thanks for mentioning Bob-Lo island. That jogged some of the earliest memories I have of my grandfather.
I still have photos of me on the big concrete turtle out front of Bob-Lo Island.
Doug: Thanks for all the extra reading materials! Funny the DVD drive-in is a hot topic now. CTT covered it in Sept 2006.
Rain today...looks like an all day rain. Need to get health forms filled out for 4-yo by tomorrow. Found out I needed them Saturday.
Kurt
Thought some of you might find this interesting! As if we don't have enough issues, we also manage to come up with some ORIGINAL, items.

Those young guys find out I'm an old 62 year old codger and welcome me with open arms .... thought they may not want an old fellow in there .... they just say " come on grandpappy .... we'll SHOW NO MERCY THOUGH " ... lol .... and believe me they don't . Hate it when a 14 - 24 year old smokes me .... darn those kids are good . What surprised me was there's alot of old boys on there ! Call of Duty World at War ..... if ya have it come try to get me ....
Jim ........ yea I've painted pegboard .... then outlined the tools I have on there so my sons would put them back where they belong on the hooks correct ... they used to just rehang them all over the place .... ... stopped that .
Good Morning
Drizzle this AM. Going into the 70s.
Up early this morning, got a hair cut and wipers for grannys car. Two different lengths and of course I put them on the wrong sides. No I didn't notice, the salesman just handed them to me and off I went. Big breakfast of eggs hash browns bacon and toast means no lunch needed. First day of public school so granny walked to the school just to see two grandsons arrive. Geeze.
Enjoy your Monday this Tuesday....S.J.
SHANKE and BAKE,
Gee I thought when I first saw it that it was JELECTRICs car going into sink hole?
Morning. Things done here. Had a good rain last night. Turnips growing. Got County Commissioners' this afternoon and Town Board tonight. Hope all had a great holiday. We enjoyed the lake. Took Pam and her middle sister and middle sister's Granddaughter for a two hour pontoon boat ride up to the dam and back. Rested up after mowing grass and trimming. Watered all the flower beds twice [last time just before it started raining]. Mainly a lazy holiday weekend. Hope all are doiong well. Will catch up on things later. BTW: Fifey, you could have flown with the yatchett yesterday on Kerr Lake. Waves. Have a good one.
I have said for years that you can't pull off a surprise party with out the intended person finding out about it. And I was always right - until this weekend. Our kids pulled it off. They brought in family from all over the country for our 50th wedding anniversary! And they started planning it last January! We are still not over the shock and surprise. What a great weekend.
Ole Timer - 62 years old? Your a young chick. But then everything is relative.
SJ - If you have an Advance Auto Parts store near you, they will put wipers on for free.
Jon - My vote is for the John Deere train set, if you can find it, especially the engine. Finally found the engine, MTH with PS-2 at a show last month.
green97probe- I have painted pegboard two ways, with a brush and with a roller. Both ways required using the brush to remove the paint from the holes.

Pat,
How does pegboard look once it is painted? I don't use the holes for anything, so I am not concerned about them.
SJ,
Just be glad that you didn't do what I did when I bought wiper blades for the PGT. I bought blades that were one inch too short. I'll live with them until they need replaced because it took me long enough to repaint the wiper arms.
Ole Timer,
I have some friends who are into Call of Duty World at War. I am waiting for Forza 3 to come out on 10-27-09. When it comes out, I'll be on Xbox Live all the time.
Not much planned for today other than finishing the work for my online courses.

Painted pegboard looks fine as long as you brush wipe out the paint from the holes. If you don't, the paint will run out of the hole and down the board 1/2 inch or so.
