I finally bought some more track on the way home today, so I will spend the day cleaning it. The guy I bought it from has a beautiful prewar Gilbert Flyer freight set headed by a 561 pennsy K5 steamer in the display case. There are no chips in the paint or signs of zinc rot anywhere, and the lettering is strong and bright. The rest of the set is just as nice, and there is a gorgeous Ringling Bros. whistling billboard included with the set. All the boxes are present and just as clean. If I had $450,or a credit card, I wouldn't have thought twice.

Morning.  Sunny and cool.  Windy.  Frankie has had to re-tie the pontoon twice.  Says waves on Kerr.  Be a good day for Fifey to sail away.  Steve, prayers sent and now fingers crossed.  8N, "someone" came through and gave several threrads one star so someone went and gave them more stars.  A little game "someone" plays.  Got a few errands to run and then Lucy and I are off to the lake until Monday night.  Will use the wireless at the country store.  Chat later.

Mornin' boys.  Pleasant and 61 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Did not get to the races (submarine or otherwise) yesterday, as I was working on the girls' room 'til 2100.  Perhaps I'll get down to the dock to unwind at sundown...

Well its 8AM, in one hour I'll be in my interview. I hope this works out as our second car (95 Metro) took a dump yesterday . Ball joint is ready to let go, its really not driveable but I hopeing I will limp to the repair guy without the wheel letting go and causing more damage.(that would total this car) Wife got a ride to work and the plan is to have the geo fixed by the time she gets off. I'm gonna chance the santafe to get to the interview. It seems to run about three miles before it warms up and shuts off, the interview is only about a mile from my house so I hope to make it. Boy I havn't lived on the edge like this since I was 20 years old and it SUCKS!!!!!            Steve

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s (this keeps up and I may have to expand the aconym :-) ). I could add a few more, such as TBIL for "The Beacon is Lit" and IHEHAGD for "I hope everyone has a good day", but that maybe would confuse the newcomers too much.  Too bad there was not any soccer activity last night as I made really good time getting home.  I went straight to the YMCA after changing clothes, did weights, did some soccer juggling, and jogged slowly for a mile.  First time in a long time that I did a mile without some part of it being a walk.  Balanced the checkbook after supper, and watched some of "America's Got Talent".  I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast before sending it well-stocked to "Points East".  TBIL after the soccer game, and I can drive.  IHEHAGD.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Late Night Here,

Can't believe the computer problems, after I get everything working yesterday, it all goes down this morning.  This time the problem is the modem.  Call the ISP, and they say the area is experiencing sever difficulties.  (Now Mt. Wilson is the local mountain where all transmitting towers are located, TV, Radio, Cell, uWave, etc..  And this mountain is at the edge of the fire area.  Lots of defense is in place to protect the mountain.  It also has the Wilson Observatory.)  So ALL day no signal, modem really trying but nothing.  TS tells me repeatedly problem is affecting entire area.  Then tonight I try again, this TS person tells me we have a weak signal, and a tech will be out between 7:30 and 8:00 am.  Then tonight I try it one more time and it is working, faster than ever!  Banged Head

I'm going to bed.

Brutus,

A friend of mine raves about Left 4 Dead, but I heard that the offline single player is a bit weak.  Do you have an Xbox 360? If you do, check out Dead Rising. It takes places in a mall that is loaded with zombies, and you can use just about anything to fight them. I took out about 60,000 zombies, and I hadn't even made a dent. BTW, my gamertag is the same as my screen name here. If you have a 360, send a friend request. Right now, I am waiting for Forza 3 which comes out on October 27. It looks like it will be an amazing racing game. Plus, there are rumors that there will be an 89-92 Probe as well as a 97 Probe GTS in the game, so that was all I needed to hear!

Mostly sunny and mid 70's today.  Interesting sunrise this morning - orange bottom lit clouds and a complete rainbow to the west.  Parts of the rainbow were double.

Dinner tonight was BLT with the tomatoes fresh off the vine.  Good stuff.  Probably the last this year, as the tomatoes left on the vine are not looking too good.

Got my friend's Marx 666 running last night.  It needs a headlight bulb and some work on the smok unit.  It was also kind enough to point out places on my track that needed cleaning.  Ran the track cleaning car around and the 666 behaved much better.  I'm impressed with how well it pulls.  Put a Lionel tender behind it, 9 boxcars and a caboose.  A little wheel slip starting the train, but once it got moving, no problem.

I'll get this posted when the wireless network decides to hook up.  For some reason it is having a hard time staying connected tonight.

Later.

Ray, the C-Pap is for folks with sleep apnea.  Essentially, it blows the air down the airway.  While numbers vary from study to study, they all seem to indicate that sleep apnea (cessation of breathing while asleep), is directly linked with several cardiac related diseases and sudden death.  Not to scare anyone, just if you have a history of apnea, it is worth getting a sleep study done.  I failed mine, so now I too wear a mask and had to have a second study done to verify the workings of the mask.  I had over 300 times where I stopped breathing in the first study.  This also leads to very restless sleep, so for some folks who always wake up tired, this could also be an issue.

Have a great night everyone.
God Bless,
Dennis

that me the blue and also said that my O2 level was low because of it. said I did momentarly pause breathing but main concern was O2 level was low.

Steve,

           Good luck with the interview.

Brent,

Trust me, you need Fallout 3.Wink It is amazing. If you'd like, I could send you some links to some videos of gameplay. I'd post them here, but I don't want to take the chance of potentially offending anyone as it is an M rated (18+) title.

Laz,

One thing that I disovered about college is that it is very easy to burn yourself out if you take too many higher level courses at the same time. Last semester was like that, and I just couldn't take it after awhile. I took Computer Networking, Controls, Calculus II, and RF Communications, and that was way too much stress for me. Fortunately, things are much easier this semester. My longest day this semester is 8AM-10:45AM.Big Smile It beats the 8AM-8:45PM Mondays of last Fall.

I had planned to get more work done on the layout today, but I never got to it as some jerk apparently decided to use a key to leave me a present on the driver's side quarter panel of the Sunfire while I was in class this morning.Angry They only cut through the clear and partially into the basecoat, so that is good in a way as it wasn't as much of a hassle as it could have been. It took most of the afternoon to fix.  The rollers arrived for the 16B, so I'll get that done in the near future. I'll get some pics of my layout progress asap.

Evening all.  Was nice and low humidity.  Grass mowed here and at widow lady's.  Things ready for trip to the lake.  Got to go to Home Depot [as they still have some $$$ on the card they gave me] and pickup 10 big bags of Quicrete and 2 mobile home anchors.  First I have to go to Tractor Supply and get their drill press that is on sale.  Then give Frankie my workbench top one that is almost new.  Then hit the road to the lake.  The concrete mix and anchor are for me to dig two big holes right at water's edge, put anchor in each one and mix up two big batches of concrete.  When the water comes back up this winter, we will use them for anchors for the dock.  Chat later.  Got to download photos of the famous school site showing rock and old grave sites.

BTW: when you post a picture of Buckeye the RAT, be sure you show it as BUCKEYE THE OHIO SEWER RAT.

Good afternoon all, had a nice surprise visit form my East Coast brtoher out here on business.  He took us out to dinner last night at the Outback.  Had not been there before.  Good steak and nice coconut shrimp appetizers.

Dennis thanks for the explanation about sleep apnea.  My brother in law had that.  Seems to be more common these days.  Maybe they are just finding it better than earlier times now.

I've been fooling around with old technology again with my music equipment.  Something not right with tape player/recorder.  Was getting a loud hum from the receiver through the speakers when trying to play or record on deck 2 of an old Fisher Tape Deck.  Tried different locations for connecting plugs between tape deck and receiver and CD player.  Found one combination where noise goes away and I can play tapes OK now but it still does not seem to record from either the CD player or from another tape in deck 1.  I just had this system overhauled last December and new belts and a cleaning on the tape deck.

Took short walk this morning against my better judgement on account of the bad air.  AQMD says our area was moderate.  Probably should stay in with my breathing problems.  I will wait until it gets better outside.

New carpet coming today for family room.  Spent all morning getting all I could out of the room and unloading legal book case so it could be moved.  That took quite a while.  Moved all my music equipment too.  Left all the heavy stuff for the carpet people to deal with.

D Baker, hope you got your computer problem fixed.

Later, Ray

Doug D.--that trolley is excellent!  I could see having a long loop in our next layout with several Trolley's.  My wife has a LaJolla business trip scheduled the first week of November, I might join her if everything works out here.  There's a time from the Nov. 1--Dec. 1 where it actually feels like I'm retired.

Well Don, you beat me to it.  I was going to suggest a upCHUCK-E-Cheese outfit.  Had a busy day today so far and still have plenty to do.  Have several cases that will keep me here till tonight.  Call can get old real fast.

Bob, let's hope that it is just reflux and that with some meds you will be up and about without difficulty.  Keep in mind about the elevated bed as it does work.  Also hope that the diabetes issue was transient and perhaps that diet will keep things in check.  The symptoms from the reflux seem odd, but then again, we have seen a number of oddities from it.

Chief, you need to see about having the ceremonies in which you must don your suit held in more reasonable times of the year.  Perhaps November!

We kept my son home today as he was running a fever and has had lots of congestion.  Hope that it is short lived and that he is up and about by morning.  Don't want him to miss too many days as we have a trip coming up and that will eat up the days he is allowed to have off.

Hope everyone has a Blessed Day.

Hey! Good news today. No it ain't weather related, still 100+* today and a bit humid. Thumbs Down Atlas is going to be visiting later this month with the new I.R. San Diego Trolley.

Me likey. Thumbs Up

Need a little help guys. I'm working up an idea for halloween, looking for a bendable/posable Dracula doll kinda like a Barbie but not near as tall. Watching a few on E-Bay that aren't quite what I am looking for but might have to settle on.

Anybody seen any or idea of someplace to look? Unable to find any at the major toy or general merchandise retailers.

Good Morning,

Canoeing down the Fox River, boy I could handle that !  Took Chris white water rafting when he was 10, went with the YMCA, he ended up going out of the raft.  I grabbed him by the back of the neck on the Life Jacket.  Man did the guide ever yell at me for risking loosing an oar.  Needless to say he wasn't a Dad.

Decided to take the day off (comp day), do lawns, clean some oil off the drive way, etc.  Wife says "You Nuts", look how orange it is outside, the air is bad, IF your staying home, STAY in the Trainroom.  So my day has been replanned for me.  As Doug would say, "Oh Drats !"

Hope to hear good news from Steve today, re: the interview!
