Morning to All,
Lots of action here on the Pot.
Jim-Phish - Happy Anniversary
88 - Sorry to hear about the Solara - Glad that Susan is OK. It might be a good time to buy a car but probably not what you guys needed on the middle of the house remodel.
Fifey - the Mrs. and I spent some time on the Magothy Saturday with two other couples - out by Dobbins Island there was something called Bumper Bash 09. Literally hundreds of boaters (sail and power) at a floating party that lasted well into the evening. A calypso band on board one of the boats. Lots of inebriated patrons that required some of Anne Arundel County's finest to patrol the area (rough duty but someone had to do it). One of the young ladies on board a boat passing through was having a great time shall we say showing off what the good Lord gave her. She flashed her mammaries at least three times while in our view and I of course averted my eyes so as not to embarass her.
Today I am heading out to the lower Chesapeake near Crisfield, MD on a chartered fishing trip with some friends to try to catch some rock fish. Supposed to be hot and humid with a chance of showers. Should be a good day. Hope the fish are biting.
Have a great day.

88- The Highlander is very nice. If you get the one with the V6, it's darn fast, actually. Neighbor has had one for over 2 years and I have driven it a couple of times, and ridden in it even more. It should be big enough. The CR-V isn't as big, but it's decent.
Got the plywood topper boards for the benchwork and installed it last night. Sure does look nice. I sacrificed a little layout size so I had a walkway all around the layout. Not just for reach, but just looking at stuff from a different vantage point can really keep the layout interesting.
Jim - Happy 31!
Get well everyone.

Mitch,
Sound like things haven't changed much since we lived in Pasadena, MD off of Bodkin Creek, a bit north of the Magothy. I used Dobins before the big crowds found it. By the time I sold the boat it used to be gunnel to gunnel on a Sat. and Sun.. Good luck with the fishing trip. If the seatrout are in your chances of getting a good catch are better than bass.
Brent-
The 4 Runner is really not that big, we have '04 and love it, very beefy. The Highlander is the little brother to the 4 Runner and is a very nice vehicle, built on the Camry frame, Rav 4 IMO would be too small with kidos. It would make a nice commuter car but when you start putting a child seat and groceries in the back seat it gets small very quickly, plus the ride is a lot more choppy. There a reason the 4 Runner has won all kinds of Consumer Reports best SUV for years, it will go anywhere in snow and has an amazing carrying pay load. My wife uses the 4 Runner in the winter, very safe vehicle. Big motor that really goes, we used it last year to pull a heavy trailer w/motorcycles to Colorado, didn't even know it was back there.
Jon
So many roads, so little time.
Aloha from a grey and cool Crystal Lake - are those geese overhead? Cool enough to be heading south for the winter. Congratulations on 31 years to Mr. and Mrs. 'Phish'! Glad Susie-Q was OK. Too bad the car doesn't qualify as a 'clunker' - our ancient minivan missed by .5 MPG. Busy day following the bride around and working today.

Good Morning
Sun is up and feels hot already. But I shall cut the grass. Doug I think you have to be buying a big three car to get the clunker rebate. We have enough cucumbers that granny is making bread and butter pickles with most of them. I only plunkett four plants in the ground but they are doing a great job of whatever it is they do. Lets not start a car war, I am just saying what I think is correct and could be wrong but I don't think so. And please note that I am NOT telling anyone what kind of car to buy.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a humid 72 degrees. Foggy. Going up to 78 today with rain ,later.
Today is a busy day. Wife left to do the grocery shopping. I have a bunch of paperwork to do. Maybe relax later.
I have lost all interest in the Indians. I think they stink.
Grandson is due to visit around the middle of August. I have to get the train room cleaned up. He is a big fan.
Dining car was here and we had the usual for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Thursday.
Chuck
Hey All !!!
I'm still around, over here in Carson City on a super secret mission. Since the Calif budget got approved was sent here to see if I could scronge anything up left over at the CC mint. So far just finding a little silver, need to get the gold. Will try the Casinos in Reno next.
Later

Thanks guys for the congrats on the anniversary.
Our current president reneged on a campaign promise to back a federal loan guarantee for the deployment of the project I am working on, so the future of a domestic source of enriched uranium is in jeopardy. The other contender for the domestic market is a wholly French owned company. Potentially 3000 lost. Several of us may go to Washington to remind of the promise made in a state that was key to his election.
Brent – My brother has had 4 RAVs and has loved each one. He started in ’01 and has had each progressively larger body style.
Mitch – Good luck fishing
May God bless

Morning all. Off to Town Hall in a few. Was sunny but now a cloud. Chances of T'storms all through weekend. Those that hit and miss all around. Think I will spray the garden and vines. That will make it rain again. Got wet from rain when I sprayed earlier this week.
Brent, wifey bought 4 Runner and then would not drive it as too big. Week later she had to drive it as carpooler was out of town. Left home in it and 5 miles down the road she calls, "I love this thing." Been drivng it ever since. Really not too big. Will get in and out of parking spaces with ease. Get the "super" version and it is loaded [nav, blue tooth, sat. radio, backup camera, CD, zone A/C and heating, heated seats and more]. Never understood sun roof but wife likes it.
Have a good one. Later

Hey all!!
Hot and Humid again (or as usual), got the seat on the Harley and, of course, it rained to beat the band...unbelieveable, stormed the past 3 days and we are totally waterlogged. HEY!! Anyone need some rain???
Brent, I'll be totally honest. After 3 years at Toyota, I'm thoroughly convinced that America has been bamboozled by this car company. I never did so much engine/trans work before (not to mention the pending class action law suits for engines blowing up), and I've been around a few dealerships. I am an American car lover and owner, but, for MY money, I'd by a Honda CR-V or Pilot before I'd buy any Toyota product. Next in line would be a Suzuki XL-7, an Equinox or Traverse. I've spent time in both the Equniox and XL7 and I love the XL7. And they are both made by----GM! The Equinox is serviceable and comfortable, but the XL7 was MORE comfortable and better priced. Go figure..... Gas mileage on the hiway was in the mid 20's and my foot is made of lead. Honda is dead reliable - anything Honda usually is, but don't overlook the Hyundai/Kia stuff either. With a 10/100 warranty and 6/60 BASIC warranty, you can't go wrong. The Sorento & Santa Fe (both are the same vehicle) are really worth the money. Something to think about.
Jim Phish - not to be political, just observant - I think he lied about 90% of what he promised....
End of month is approching and I'm busy...yea!!!
Hey Brutus...are you going??

I'll need to bail out the wife later, she's being jailed for MDA...50 bucks won't do it, though...
See ya inna bit!

Good afternoon Y'all! Just one of those days....it is "Friday" for me as I am taking off tomorrow to go Redfishing and scalloping in Florida. It will be my son and I along with some friends. Some quality time together.
Watched "Watchmen" lastnight....don't bother. One of those films that make you say "what was that?". Stayed up too late and so 4am rolled around too early. Did a case and now I have to go to the bank and get a haircut per my bride's suggestion.
ran trains for awhile yesterday. Even the bride joined the fun. Really looking forward to starting scenery.

Jim........Happy 31st Anniversary to you and your Wife.
Sir J, it looks like the cash for clunkers scheme is open to makes/models. Good thing I really don't need a new car. Restraining myself from strangling the teen who inadvertently ran up some gigantic cell phone bills. I thought I had stopped that. Ah teens...
Jim,
The cattle for the 771 arrived in the mail today. The brown cattle work great, but I can't get any of the four black cattle to go up the ramp. The brown cattle fly up the ramp, but the black ones stop dead at the base of the ramp. All eight cattle have red mohair on their bases and are repros. Any ideas?
Brent,
Has Susan considered a Ford Escape? The 3.0 V6 that is available is bulletproof and has been in production since at least the 1990 model year. I am like Clint Eastwood's Walt Kowalski from Gran Torino when it comes to cars and other things. Buy American.
Jim- The mohair on th efeet of the cattle is directional. If you look closly the brown cattle nap points to the rear and to one side of the cow, and the black cattle nap to the rear and the oppisit direction of the brown cow. This makes them track in a clockwise or counter clockwise direstion. Try combing the nap by brushing the nap against your leg or something to make sure it is laying in the right direction. If it lays too flat rough it up a bit by brushing it in the oppisit direction. Play around with it to make adjustments.
Evenin' boys. Mitchie sure did have a pretty day to fish. Hope he caught a few, especially if he chartered. Tried to get to Dobbins 2 weeks ago, but "light" air foiled that plan. Wasn't aware Magothy was that wild. I love steel drum music, but also don't want to go blind...
Chief - Sailing is a lot like dancing, with a partner who can be stubborn.
submmbob - Almost 24 hours, and all 1400 gals still in the big plastic thingy. Of course, wifey hasn't dipped her little toe in well gotta run...
Took 3 weeks to find this site, did a post-vanished!
No problem with deer in Stockport, Lyme Park has a fence around it.
Louie Armstrong is croaking on LastFM, he should have stuck with the trumpet and Firehouse 5.
Bix, now that's better.

CTT arrived this mornings post.
Another warm day here in AZ. Some cloud buildup yesterday afternoon, but no rain in sight yet.
Fife - glad to hear #3 fill is holding. 1400 gals? You could almost sail the boat in that.
dougdagrump - nifty sites. I read up a little on the San Diego RR Museum a few months ago when I was doing the Goat Canyon Trestle hike. Keep up the good work.
Jim S - learned that the radio-isotopes they used for the heart test they did on me are in short supply recently. Everybody is getting out of the business and a lot comes from Canada.
Brutus - thorough is the word. In addition to the X-ray on Monday (and all the prev x-rays), plus the aforementioned radio-isotopes, I will be able to light up a room by the end of the summer.
Have to be a quick one. Have an appointment in a few minutes. Supposed to go up to Kitt Peak with a friend tomorrow to give an impromptu tour for a couple of exchange students. KP is only one hour away and a mere 7K feet so this should be a good test for me. Check back in later.

Black cattle are way smarter than brown cattle. The black cattle won't go up the ramp because they know where they are going!

jonadelPat--would that be the Sioux City Stock Yards.....................
Hi Jon:
I am a little dense tonight, but I can't figure out why you disapprove of the the Sioux City Stock Yards.
Pat--
Well, I remember you telling me of your Council Bluff's ties AND I remember my Uncle, who was a big cattle man in NW Iowa. Whenever we would go to Sioux City with cattle he would say, "ready to go to sewer city"? I can still hear his voice tonight! PLUS, whenever the boss and I pass bye on I-29 I'm still reminded of his words.
Evening all not a lot happening tonight. resting from a hard day seeing were very short at work. somewhere around 9 and there only hiring 3 at this point as about half missing because there on medical lv. basically it amounts to that were down 1/4 to 1/3 of our man power. And basically we could use a few over full Manning especially now that they opened a new area for us to take care of. and there talking of opening another area for us to take on.
Not much happening no train work tonight. but sure look good up there lol did add my number 50 gang car to a Nascar Flat took off that
But that was about all.
Hope all had a good day. will talk some more later or tomorrow. Oh almost forgot I m off tomorrow so thats a good thing lol

Good Evening
Another nice summer day.
Grass is cut and trimmed, jars of pickles on the counter.
I got stung or bit on the back of my hand by something yesterday, man I hate that, the itch is driving me crazy.
Banilla is waiting for Brutus and the thingy...S.J.
Evening everyone. Jack and I went to lowes to try to find some carpet for his layout. I wanted something with low pile, thick, and hopefully looped. What I left with was plastic, cut looped, shiny indoor/outdoor carpet. I found a remnant big enough for what we needed, and it was 50% off. We already have it down and have some track down. I swear I was going to get all of the realtrax out of here, but there is just too much of it...and I still have switch issues. Anyhow, we should be running trains this weekend, hopefully.
Aloha. Boy, I read Jim's post about bi-directional cattle without knowing the question he was answering - and it was inadvertently the funniest thing I've ever read - you mean if I go out to the barn and rub the cattle, they'll go in a certain direction. Geez, I learn all sorts of things here. Looks like cash for clunkers is kaput before it started. LOL. Bob, I hear the Big Island landed a gigantic new telescope. I was counting internet-connected devices in the home today and stopped at 14. Oh boy.
Hey guys - how's it going? Hmmm, decaf sounds good Need some of the skim milk and that pink packet there. Thanks!
Well, I figured out that my solder gun gets hot really really fast, which is good! Played around finding out how hot to get the solder, then tacked that wire to the right spot, I hope! on the whistle board. Took a while to play around with it all, so quit to do chat tonight. I think it worked - don't think I cooked the board. This is on the whistle board that came in Thomas. If I mess it up, I'll get the sound commander board and put it in Annie anyway. But, it's work a try to save $50
Rich - I was talking to my wife about that train, we might try to see it Sunday. She doesn't think she can walk through it though, so it would be me and the kids.
Doug M - Dang! I hope you can get the company to cut you a deal?
We got the bill for the first emergency room trip back in April, our share was $502. We had another ER trip, but all the rest has been outpatient or inpatient, so I think we might be out another $1K in bills creeping towards us. There went some fun stuff, but that's what money is for I guess. Just have to catch some more OT. We have it in the bank, but like to keep a little cusion there.
Bob - being thorough is good. It took them a little while to figure out what was going on with my wife. I'm sort of an insurance adjuster for the government and believe me I review a ton of medical records every year. It's amazing how often it takes a good long time for the docs to figure out what is wrong with a person. What's worse is when you see they moved or changed hospital systems etc., and the "correct" diagnosis was lost and it all starts over again! Since HIPAA, this has beome less of an issue, but I still see it pretty often. I really suggest that when this is all over, you get copies of your records and keep them safe for the future - just some advice, you can take it or leave it.
I know I'm forgetting stuff, but can't remember what it was Good chat with RT and Jim again tonight and got some good advice on soldering and stuff
Tardis is ready and we have regular, unleaded and also Summer Ale. Root beer, banilla, and all the usual stuff too Let's hit it! Patrick is driving!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Wait Brutus.. I'm driving :)
