Don.....The Chief should make about a dozen of your structures for his layout.   With a dozen placed on the layout, he would have and exact replica of Roseyville!  You are one helpful guy and that is why you are an OTTS member.

IT is the first day of spring. Sad Sadly I will need to store the snowblower.  Another fun winter has passed. Sigh  I will miss being trenched with freezing rain, shoveling snow, sliding on the highways and of course my favorite, falling on my butt after sliding on the ice.

Good Morning all

Thanks for the support and prayers.

Don - Love the out house!  Do you have any mobile homes?  Scale cinder blocks to block up cars?

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps near 50.  Very interesting day at work.  First time ever since I started working that I lost a supervisor.  He was not fired, but I have been assigned a new IT boss.  Lots of oddities occurring here.  Strange events and strange times.  Went to the YMCA with Lucas.  Did weights, track and shot some hoops (his idea).  Took it easy otherwise last night.  Ran the 384E as well for a few minutes.  The attic was a bit cooler than I thought it would be.  I had English muffins and cereal on the dining car this morning for breakfast.  Dweimer, I hope whatever is pulling you away from the forum will be resolved soon.  Thoughts and prayers going out to you.  The Beacon is lit and I can drive tonight.  Zucchini bread by the "saucy wench" is extra good lately.  IHEHAGD.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Mornin' boys.  Sunny and 39 here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  Our NRHS Chapter is having its banguet tomorrow afternoon, and Hal Carstens is the guest speaker.  Need to work on the layout this weekend so I can get some pics for SPF/CPI.

Phish - Shock  Put that little gal in a rubber room.  Perhaps I could take early retirement and work for you as security.

Morning all.  Lets see.  DonI think there are already building on my layout so now we all know that posters from the left bank, except for Doug W [where is he???] and SP, are not turthful.

I see buildings:

I also see an item "zeroed" in on a certain residence in Cerritos CA.

We also have thriving manufacturing.

So your little "outhouse" would be a "fly on the wall"

Now folks, you notice Don's advar is not his picture.  Well, her is a picture of Don in this year's St. Particks Parade.

Fifey, it is all about telling the truth. Whistling

Rain has stopped.  Sun is out.  Got .6" additional.  In less than a week, we have had 3.1" of rain.  Chat later.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It's a cold and sunny 28 degrees. Only going up to 45 today, with some sunshine. Needs to get a little warmer.

Today is a busy day. I have a bunch of small projects to do. Some paperwork. Then, I will relax. Maybe run trains later.

Dining car was here and we had the usual for breakfast.

Buckeye.....TGIF

Y'all have a great Friday.

When I looked at the pictures I thought that they were of Enola Yard with all of them big black units and the John Deer tractors,  Nice stuff you have there.  Have any one heard from LAZ it seems that he must be out trying to find a bag of Grit's.  Don't let the man from Ohio get you down, I will still be on your side even if I am a Yankee!

Fife--
From our front door to the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha it's a very easy two hour, 115 mile drive, all interstate.  It's a fabulous Zoo, saw several of Chiefs family relatives there, I'll try and post pics later Laugh   It was a beautiful day, bright sun/no wind/and about 60+, the princess did very well for an almost three year old--she's so much fun and such a good sport.  Today we are off to the science center in Des Moines, another jewel for families and kids.  The rail fanning in Omaha is tremendous, I'll try and find some older pics for you, might not happen for a few days until the princess goes home.

Don B.--I'm going to try and find some sage brush this summer for Chief's plywood prairie while we are out west this, that would certainly add some class to his "effort".  I feel bad when I see his layout, such potential for something special there, we all need to make a better effort to help him out.

Time to get ready for another very short road trip today with the princess.

Way off topic.  Our oldest son is a band director in north east Iowa and this is his week of spring break.  Every three years they make a major trip--three years ago they were in Sandy Eggo over Christmas break, this year they are in Washington, DC.  He did a blog of the trip for the parents and I'm very proud of his writing, if you are interested take a look.  They are leaving DC as I type and will be in Ohio this afternoon at a water park and then an all night drive to be home by 8:00 AM tomorrow.  Just check on the blog link in upper left hand corner.   http://fc.cedar-falls.k12.ia.us/~engelhardtk/

Lew.

Lew, glad to see you on the POT.  Keep it up.  Enjoyed a tour of Enola by Fifey when I was in Harrisburg at Bass Pro Shops [actually delivering GRITS to the Yankees].  John F, LAZ, Brent and Mikey were there too.  We [Fife and I] keep talking about a trip this summer or fall to Roanoke.  Maybe you can make it.  Love those Stallions.

Ol Timer, SD80's, a SD90 and a Dash 8 thrown in.  Can pull a my house around the block.  Train actually comes out of tunnel and back is just going in on the other side.  Lots of cars [all scale] in that one.  The other train is SD40's [CN was one LAZ helped me find] and a Conrail U boat in the middle.  With all those diesels smoking, I have to turn on the exhaust fan in the ceiling.

Jon, you might not find any sage brush but send me some corn for my fields.

Off to lime the pond and then get ready to go to the lake.

Mike, thanks for the thoughts.  Not to worry, just a lot going on, no problems.  I just don't want folks to think that I have left when I can't get here.

Don, where did you get that California fruit stand?

Looks great!  A few patches of strawberries around there and you'll be set.

All kidding aside, when I was in China, they had a concrete building that had "stalls" which were cinder blocks that came up about 3 feet.  Each stall had two concrete slabs separated by about 6 inches.  Idea was to stand/squat with one foot on each slab.  Killer part was out the back of this building (it was on a hill), there was a guy with a water buffalo and cart who would shovel the deposits onto the cart and fertilize the rice fields with it.Shock  I have pictures, but I think you can get the image in your mind without them.

Have to get daughter a American passport as she only has her Chinese one.  It is not needed, but travel agent suggests it as when we go to Bahamas, should anything happen and we miss the boat, it is most difficult to return to US without one.  Planning.  Of course I have my passport and may need it to travel north for York.  Chief, when we cross the boarder, do they have a check point?  Do I need to hide in the trunk?

Have a great weekend!
God Bless,
Dennis

Chief, You have no idea what I was paid for that picture.  I can't discuss the details here.

Jon, That blog is really done well,  that will be a real memory for all the kids, and it is so well documented.  Glad the ankle injury turned out to be a minor thing.  Kyle is doing a super job!

Dennis, don't be alarmed you will probably see a number of roadside diners on your road trip, made from the same set of prints.

Ray, Are you going to the train show in Costa Mesa this weekend?

Good Morning

We have the usual 30s and sunny. Don, good set of plans for the Chief, course if he can't follow them he only needs to go look behind his house for reference. Had a nice chat with some of our friends last nite, a little bit of this and that. Also won a coach for my Hogwarts set @ 19.95. Snagged one about a year ago at that same price so a five car train should be just right. No great plans for today so I'll take it from here.  S.J.

Thanks Don for the comments, I should point out that Kyle is the younger guy on the right side, it's his 10th year of teaching,  The gentleman on the left side is the other high school band director and has been there been there quite a while ..........  I judged him on a trumpet solo when he was a student, I do feel old but then again, it sure beats the alternative Cool

Morning all. Another long 24 hours. Brisk - wore winter coat again - TGIF indeed. Prayers for your bride, Don!   And in thanksgiving for Pat's b-day, Sir J. We have a Schram's truck come by regularly too - good stuff but a tad more than I can afford. Jon, nice blog 'o the trip. Our spring break begins next week.  Because of the broken dishwasher, a few other new-ly broken appliances and the carpet mix-up, I got the bright idea to send everyone in the fam away for a week. Easier said than done. After looking at practically everyplace in the 48 states, I was fortunate to get them to Phoenix for a week at a nice hotel. That leaves me and the dog to work and play with trains for a week while dealing with contractors. Not a bad trade. Wink

Don, nice job on the outhouse.  I will not be in Costa Mesa this week end.  I don't usually venture that far South for train doings.  I go to TCA and TTOS in Arcadia mainly.  On rare occasions I go to AGHR open houses.  That's a giant leap for me.

Chief, thank you for giving me credit for telling the truth.

Dennis, no worry.  The Yanks are too dumb to recognize us.  I cross the border all the time.  I will be armed with a big bag of ?????  Well, lime in the pond.  All the rain had made it turn into a glob like morter mix.  Even though they were plastic bags and sitting straight up.  What a mess.  Job done.  Limbs hauled, trees trimed and grape vine trimmings [from last month] gone to the woods.  Now pack and go to the lake.  BTW: I am locked into the wireless so I can keep a check on some of the rascals.

 Good afternoon all:

Have a little time here between farm chores. Tomorrow I am heading over to the Greenburg's train show in Fredericksburg. Need to make out my "Need/Want" list and check the funds this afternoon. Wink

Here are two pictures of some farm animals we got from down stream from Chicago on the river. Do you think there is environmental issues upstream? (fife)? Does anyone want cow pies from these cows? Mischief

Chief, I guarantee you good weather in southside Virginia for the weekend. Thumbs Up

Brutus, if the tardus is out most of the night, just drop me off in Fredericksburg in the morning. Better still, lets all go to the train show!

Will report tomorrow.

I am hopelessly behind on the Pot goings on and have to apologize if I miss someone or something.

For you guys who have kids coming up.  One down and one to go.......today's gripe from me are the kids who see that Dad has a nice driveway to park their wounded and hemmorhaging old cars until they get them fixed.  Then never get them fixed.  Banged Head  It makes the place look like a NC junkyard.  Disapprove  So I just got paid by a local salvage company to tow away son's vehicle (had the title).  I can't wait for the fireworks to begin when he notices it missing.  Drop dead dates had come and gone.  This will be one of those encounters when the aggrieved son goes to the mother to cry "foul" and " I was gonna get to it."  Little does he know that Mom's response to him will be much more caustic and unpleasant than mine would have been.  TEAMWORK!  Think wife and I will celebrate with dinner out tonight on some of the proceeds, on the son's dime so to speak. Dinner

Chief......glad to hear your 200,000 mile checkup went well.  Whatever you are doing, keep doing it.  How are the bruises coming along?  That picture you posted of Don is from last year.  He put on a few pounds since then.

Don.......prayers for a great outcome for your wife will continue.  Does she dare to leave you home alone?

SJ...... Logan's?  I thought you would have jumped into your private jet and flown the wife to Chicago for dinner for her B-bay. Big Smile

Dennis.....hope your back is back.  With your busy schedule, York will seem like paradise.  You don't get work calls when you take a few days off, do you?  Forward your phone to one of us, we'll handle it. Smile,Wink, & Grin

Buckeye.....it's too soon to retire the snowblower for the winter.  We've had April snowstorms here in excess of 12"  I'd pack away some of the snow left in my back yard in an attempt to extend winter but it's all yellow.

JimSP......prayers for your daughter.  Lucky you were there to support her.  That can be very unsettling for anyone.  My wife and I taught one of our Dobermans to bark on command, either verbal or a hand signal.

Brutus.....your kids need to start wearing hazmat suits to school.  You've been hit harder than anyone most recently.  Hope the little guy is recovering nicely.

Jon......you must be very proud of your son.  Thank you for the link.  I wish I could share some of the (lack of) writing skills exhibited in the business world today.  It's frightening.  At one of my church meetings I got to talking to a woman who is a teacher and has hired a private tutor to help her to bone up on her English grammar, spelling, and writing skills.  I sometimes think that if we all read more (books, not the web) that we could all get better at our language skills.  The expressions "uh" and "you know" should be banished.

Don......Chief has every intention of taking your advice and building that structure for his layout.  He was temporarily delayed when he was unable to follow the dotted lines on the paper with his chainsaw.  Found his Bowie knife and is back at it.

Ole Timer......don't forget the flies.  Many of the youngsters on the Pot may not have ever had the displeasure of having to use an outhouse.  And they think porta-potties are disgusting.

Patrick......have fun at the Greenburg's train show.  BTW, I've got enough dog pies to keep me busy.

DougM.....wasn't that dishwasher new(er)?  Alone for a week?  You didn't mention what you are going to do with the infamous cat for the week.

Mitch......you mentioned you were going to attend a job fare and be interviwing teacher candidates.  Based on the economy and local finances up my way, I anticipate some of our teachers are going to get pink slipped soon.

Lew.....don't be a stranger.

Laz......where are you?

Later, ya'll.

Jack

Fife, I fully expect to drop a good bit of my kid's inheritance up that way.  Since my bride uses the excuse that she should be able to spend what I spend on a Colorado Elk hunt for her own enjoyment, I am going to use the same for the Disney Cruise/York.Black Eye  As one of the guys I work with would say, "How'd that work out for Ya?"

Oh outhouses, I have used them plenty of times.  Bring a stick for the snakes, and drop some lime when done.  As to the smell, I've had a lot worse....ever open a belly of someone with rotten intestines?  Ain't pretty!  Gangrene can be on the smelly side too, but it doesn't take long to lop off a limb.

Enjoy your weekend Y'all.  Don, I'm still thinking about all that ice cream!  I'll never fit into that thong by SeptemberShock

JimSP - sorry, prayers for your daughter!

Don - neat model!

Doug - what a scam!  Your'e the hero and have to stay home minding the pets and running the trains, lol!  How cool!

Train show sounds like fun and beacons are on the scope.  Gotta connect with SJ first and see what kind of dessert we can nab, lol!

Oh - got my CTT today, neat cover anyway, still need to read it!

Jack - took son to doc today and it's not strep (per office test) so treating it like a virus.  Poor guy.  We all had this a couple weeks ago except for him.  Hope it's the same virus so we don't get it again!  He'll be fine once the fever is gone.  Poor guy, had 3 days off from school and has been sick since day one Sad

Dennis - YUCK!  Laugh

Oh - had a nice chat earlier with RT, sounds like he got a big haul from a local auction!

Evenin' Fellas.

Well I was looking at paydays to figure out when my extra check will be showing up and I realize 4/24 is PAYDAY!!! In many more ways than one. I informed Susie-Q of this fact and she simply rolled her eyes, looked at me and smiled, 'You can hand over your CC, and MAC before you go to bed the night before.' Shock Guess I'll have to hit the ATM on my way home Thursday... Wink

Chief - I've seen some mention of this Roanoke trip... are there open seats? I may be interested seeing that I have more vacation than someone else this year! Whistling
