 Maximus,

You are one handsome boy.  Do you think that Jack would use a picture of you to be his avatar?  Of course it could show you with one of his favorite train items. Smile

Jack,

So much for Maximus staying the "puppy" in the house.

Chief......  glad to hear all is well (a gag), so I'll go feed the dog.  The Jameson's irish Whiskey was good, at least the first half dozen shots, can't remember the rest.  You got dangerously close to me calling you today.  That would have tied you up big time, might even have disrupted one or two of those free meals.

The pot ain't the pot ... without the Chief . Came here years ago ... lost and forgot my signon a couple of times because of switching internet providers ... had to start all over with a new one . This was the first forum I ever joined only because of the coffee pot . It's relaxing to me ... was so upset over chief leaving I painted 50 gal. drums all day for my layout ... LOL . At this rate of finishing my train access. I should only be 157 when I'm finished ...... Clown

Patrick ... looks like fifedog needs help on posting pics !!!!

I have transended to a higher station in life!  And actually it was unplanned and totally unexpected!  Here is what happened.......

About 4 or 5 weeks ago, was working in the front yard, and these two guys came up to the house, they were driving a Schwann's Ice Cream truck.  (I had noticed them sitting in the regional park earlier, and thought that was pretty cool, but seemed a bit overkill.)  So these guys came up and showed me a list of items that they had available.  They were establishing a home delivery service of various food items.  Some of you may recall Schwann's from years ago, same company.  (I think there was a couple of trucks at one time, I know I've seen on a layout somewhere.)  So, was talking to them and asking how business was and were they very successful.  Unfortunately not, that the demographics were not conducive to their products.  And they had only sold about $30 all day.  Now it was obvious to me that they were really trying hard.  So Chris and I ended up buying about $30 of Ice Cream.   (Ice Cream Cake, Super Chocolate Dellight, Raspberry Rumble, Peanut Butter Marvel, and a couple of novelties.)  That evening we had a feast.

The following week they were back, so we got some more Ice Cream Cake, and Raspberry Rumble, then the third week sure enough they were here again, just like clockwork.  Now its become a routine.  As it turns out we are now their established route in this area.

NOW I ASK YOU....   HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE YOUR OWN, PERSONALIZED ICE CREAM CARRIER???  By the way they do not have Banilla,  Will provide the Raspberry Rumble for everyone on the Tardis tonight, with take home packages.

Tomorrow maybe a bit busy, Kay has surgery at 11:00, hope it goes as scheduled.  She has had a "bug" the last couple of days.  But seems better now, concern was that they would have to reschedule.  But things looking good for now, will see.

Later.

Don ... we used to get Schwann's here every week ... then his sales dropped off and he quit coming to the neighborhood ... Sigh  ... I loved their products !  Hope the best on the operation ... my thoughts and prayers are with you all .  Angel I'm sure a lil angel will be with her .... yes I do believe in angels .

Good morning,

Don I hope your wife's surgery goes well tomorrow.

Today is sunny and looks great out. We had oatmeal and toast for breakfast, and it won't grind the enamel off your tooth.

I will be taking the wife out for early dinner today,  I guess I will let her pick the place as it is her birthday. It's the Least I can do.

Enjoy  your day and stay safe...S.J.

Morning All!

What!  The Chief is .....oh....he's staying huh....No other takers... huh?  Whistling  Laugh.  Glad the...uh...exam came out ok!  Sorry I missed all the drama.

Don:  Prayers for your Bride's surgery.   Mmmmmmm  Rasberry Rumble!

Sir James:  Maybe it's due to too much smoke fluid lately.  Prayers for you my friend.  Happy Birthday to you Bride!

Today preschool featured the letter T...you guessed it!  Take the trains to Preschool!  What a great time!  The kids kept running, jumping, and screaming, and going faster, and faster, and faster, and then, all of a sudden they were all sitting quietly.  4-yo ran the cab-1 for the GP-15, and the transformer for the 2025.  The kids loved it!  I loved it!  Photos Sunday!

dbaker - If I had $30 worth of ice cream delivered to my door each week, I'd be 300 lbs.  BTW, best regards with the Mrs.

jonadel - My sources tell me that Omaha is about 2 hrs from you.  I'd be going trackside there every other month.  Grab us some pics when you go. Thumbs Up

Ole Timer - yepppp, sometimes the ol' copy-and-pasties thing don't work right for me.

 Hello again:

Plumbing update. The problem is the  diaphragm in the storage tank has a hole in it . Have to replace the tank. Will replace the pressure regulator at the same time as the contacts look pitted. The plumber is on his way. I need to get that shower taken - even the cows are stand offish! Blush

Don - Schwann's must be a national company. We have one in our little town.

Plan to run fence "wire" on the pasture posts on the layout this afternoon. Actually the wire is ribbon dental floss to simulate tape type electric fencing.

Looks like Buckeye is now the one changing the thread title. Whistling

Chief - Found you on the-gauge. Thanks. I still haven't found The Hobo Camp. Confused

Way to go Kurt. Start them young. I'll bet there will be trains on their Christmas list this year! Thumbs Up

fife - Does trackside in Omaha mean their dog races or their horse races? I think the track is called Aksarben, Nebraska spelled backwards.

Catch you later.

Lawson Farms - I guess you could think of it that way.  In my circles, "trackside" means railfanning.  But if you go to LAUREL, you could do both, I s'pose. Wink

Good Morning,

Still having some rain which is more than needed down here in south Florida, may rain until saturday. County road crew came by and scraped the road this morning with a caterpiller, six wheel heavy grader.

Did some work on one of my train tables, cut the corner off a little so I can get to the electric outlets by the back wall better. Now to put all the trains back on track and see what happens.

Going to chiropracter tomorrow and see what he says about my back, couldn't get there on wednesday as I had to go to work around 1 pm. Tax refund going fast!!

Fife is always so helpful. Afternoon all. Eventful day. Dishwasher fried. Out for a week whilst waiting on a new circuit board. Guys ripped old carpet up too soon. New carpet not in for another week. Bride unhappy. Probably going to send the family out of town if I can swing it at this late date (spring break next week). Think I'm coming down with something - probably just overtired from moving stuff. Got new CTT though...

Don, hope things go well for the bride.  Regarding the ice cream, I'm with Fife, I'd be 300 lbs if we had that much.  Now, if shared with the Tardis gang, that might work.  I have some friends, the guy was the COO of Ben and Jerry's....I got a ton of ice cream from them and boy did my waist grow.  Think I spent more in new, larger clothes than I would have paid for the ice cream!

The Pot without the Chief.....nah that won't work.  That'd be like cookies without milk, like ice cream without the chocolate syrup, like...well, you get the idea.  A number of good folks here.

I did not get the latest CTT, but did get OGR.  Notice that they don't have Jim Barret in the Backshop in this one.  That is one of the better portions of that magazine.  I do have some older issues, some where the "Erecting Shop" was called the "Erection Shop", now, I wonder why they changed that?Confused

Gotta run.  Hope to check in soon, but looks like life is about to get in the way of fun soon and I will be here less.

God Bless,
Dennis

Chief, I knew you were'nt gone for good.  Glad you are posting again.  You're not posting on the pot.  You are the Coffee Pot as far as I can see so how could it go on and be the same without you.  I have a feeling that any little comments I had to make the other day had nothing to do with what got your dander up.  All this stuff is over my head.

Meanwhile, I just got my new CTT in the mail today and getting ready to take a look.  A friend sent me a copy of "Lines South" which is the magazine put out by the ACL/SAL Historical Society.  Looks like a great magazine for an old ACL fan like me.  My friend had an article in it so it was extra special for me.

Don, I just gained another 10 lbs reading that ice cream story.

Might have the Thursday Night Group today if anyone shows up.  One of our group is having a heck of a time with his new 3rd Rail CB&Q engine getting it to work right.  He seems to have the worst luck with new engines.

Had a termite invasion yesterday with the winged ones hatching out and trying to mulitply.  Bombed them all with insect killer at the local site but I'm afraid we are going to have to get the termite man and do a number on the whole place. I thought I would die before they ate the whole house but it looks like they are catching up with me before I'm gone.

This is the last day of warm weather they say.  Suppose to cool off for balance of week and maybe even some rain on Sunday.

Went for two mile walk this morning before breakfast and then helped wife with work at our church filling orders from our pantry for needy folks.  I hope we will be able to keep up with demand if economy gets worse.  I know it's bad but we have'nt seen bread lines or people selling apples yet.  I guess in this day and age it's a little more subtle than that.  Back in the 20's there were no safety nets at all.

Prayers for peace and a better economy.

Later, Ray

Thanks for the concerns and thoughts, but the surgery has been postponed for 2 weeks.  She has been down with cold/flu, for the past four days.  I'm sure this is for the best!  Two more weeks of the pre-op butterflies.  Disapprove

No we wouldn't want the Chief to leave, just think of the residual impact.  That could be truly unbearable.  And even more importantly, he needs us sooo bad and can't admit it.  Just as an example he would still have his layout on the carpet if it wern't for us.  As a matter of fact I'm tired of looking at the "plywood prarie"!  As a welcoming back gift I'm going to send him a tree for the layout.  Anybody else got anything!!  Patrick, don't send any of the Cow pies, I'm sure there is more than enough BS allready there.

Good Evening all

No I have not fallen off the face of the earth.  Our crazy life got crazier.  The net was down most of the weekend when I could try to get on.  Straight days are BUSY.

On Tuesday night my youngest daughter, the one in the car wreck a few weeks ago in L.A., well in she was walking in one of the nice neighborhoods of Cincinnati, when two guys with guns came up on her and robbed her.  I drove to Cincy and got her settled and worked through the new SS card, driver license canceled credit cards.  She is doing OK but the reality set in later.

Don – The Schwan’s guy stops at our house every two weeks.  Most everything is really good.

May God bless

Jim

Had a nice talk with some great guys.  Don, sorry to hear about the delay :(  Prayers continue.  Spent the last 2 evenings doing chat with friends and didn't even get my JB add-on cars out of their boxes yet, but good friends and conversation seem a little more important.

Son is sick with strep, apparently - it's going through his class at school.  Of course, they have a few days off school now, isn't that the way it usually goes?  Get a few days off and get sick with something.  We'll take him to a doctor tomorrow morning, asap, and get those antibiotics started.

Sorry to hear about your dishwasher, Doug.  Get those kids to work ;)

Sir James, happy birthday to Pat!  I'll bring her some chocolate chip cookie dough icecream over in a little bit!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

 Chief,

I was feeling a little remorse about making comments about your naked layout.  So not to be considered one of those who just sit on the outside throwing rocks.  Thought I would help you out a bit.  All you need to do is copy the image below, and then open it up in word and print it out.  Then get some safety scissors, (you know the 4" long ones with the rounded points, they should have them at Eagles Elementary School), and cut out the design.  I have also incuded the instructions, and you can just fold it up.   AND PRESTO, you now have the first building for your layout.  Once you get that one up the others will fill in quickly, its just the first one that is difficult to complete.  (By the way this building does have some local utilitarian value, as well as being historically significant for Roseyville.)

Print and cut the following:

Outside foilage is on the way.  I would have included a electrical kit, but I don't think it would be prototypically correct for the area.

And, not to worry I will be looking and working on other items to help you along on your layout.  We will get your layout in shape real soon.  As a matter of fact, I will also get a hold of Bob Keller about getting a photo expose done.  Cool, huh!!   (Watch out Fife.)  Maybe with a little encouragement some of the other guys may help.  I'm sure RT might have a few ideas, or maybe even some of them Yanks.    Al may be able to come up with a couple of labels.

Don't worry about being gracious or nothing, I know down deep you really appreciate the help.

Don
