Beautiful morning here ... allergies have me sneezing again ... yuck ... opened the patio door for a blast of fresh air and a turkey was gobbling .... calling those hens I guess . Waiting on 4 new diecast cars to arrive ... the delivery guy probably thinks I'm gonna pounce on him everytime . I know him better than most of my family members ... if he has a delivery and we meet on the road within a couple of miles near my house he flashes his lights ... pulls over and delivers right there .. LOL .

Did the pretest for a Technician Level, (entry level), did fine with the electronic portion, but I've got to memorize all those darn frequencies, and band widths. No fun !!!!Good News !!! I decided to play with the DCS Session recording capability. Boy is that ever cool !!! After having DCS for over 2 years and just getting around to it. I have programed various switches, so could just select one button and a variety would change. That was good ! But the Session Programming is wild. I set up a 3 car train on a siding, and another 4 cars on a different siding. Then brought the first train out, turned on some accessories, ran the train through a reversing loop. Dropped the cars off on a parallel siding, then picked up the other cars on other siding. Cleared the main line, then brought out another engine from the Engine Yard to pick up the first cars dropped off. Took the first train back to through the reversing loop, and parked it in its original position. Then with the 2nd engine took the cars around and dropped them off where the first cars had originally been parked. Then took the 2nd engine back to the Engine Yard and parked it. During this time I had various accessories operating, and sounds from the engines. Finished the recording and saved it all as 1 session. Played it back and it was AWESOME !! Now the other capability is, IF you return the engines to their starting locations, you can not only play that session back, but ALSO put it in a LOOP mode, which will repeat the operation over and over. COOL, EH ?? Love IT !!! The length of a single session can be a maximum of 90 minutes in duration, or 500 commands. I have no idea how many sessions you can record. (I have my switches and accessories connected to the DCS AIU, and the switches in wired in parallel to the control panel, next will try with TMCC in the Session. IF that works then Legacy.)Later

Sounds like you've been pretty busy! I can empathize with you regarding that HAM License, doesn't sound like anything I would like to do either. All that memorization can really be a pain.
On the brighter side, sounds like you had a good time with the programming thing on the DCS. How many sequences did you have to generate? And how many attempts did it take you? I don't know if you can integrate TMCC or Legacy into that process, make sure you let us know if it works. I've heard that it is extremely critical that you have the engines in the exact starting spots when you run the replay, so take caution with that. That is really interesting that you can take accessories made in the fifties and operate them automatically, I imagine it looks like the train is activating the item as it passes by. Keep up the good work, you need to make a video and post. BTW, how long does that sequence run? Oh yeah, that was pretty ingenious on your part to develop a sequence that repeats it self by alternating where cars are picked up and then dropped off. So that a continuous loop can be run. GOOD JOB !!! YOUR'RE THE GURU !!!

Fife, You'll appreciate this. One of my customers was in last week and told me he and a friend just purchased a boat. They have it moored in Santa Monica Marina. No of course the city owns the dock and all the slips, so they lease the slip from the city. The federal government owns the water in the marina, and since Santa Monica is in LA county, the county deems they own the ground UNDER the slip. So they have received a property tax bill for the land under the boat in the slip !!!! (Another new tax), also the annual tax on the boat is based upon the square footage, not the value. So if the boat has more than one deck the tax is proportional.

Gilbert started their HO line in ’39. Of course that got interupted by the war. After the war they let it slide to concentrate on S guage. When they did start it was sacrificed for the Korean War restrictions. I ’55 they started in earnest on HO. Much of the early rolling stock was built by Varney and the only way to tell the difference is the car #’s. Due to the hit all trains took production ceased sometime in ‘63
Unfortunately most of my stuff is in boxes. This winter I did get the 4 x 8 I built in high school uncovered enough to get trains running again. The first thing my Grand kids want is to go run trains. After ten or fifteen minutes they’re ready to move on. If they stay long enough they can’t leave with out another session.
They both like the battery operated Thomas and have a constantly changing floor layout.
I recently ordered an HO Thomas with two coaches. I’m hoping to surprise them with it on Easter when they come for dinner.
They should love it..

I really do enjoy it or I wouldn't do it (plus they pay me very well), the best part of the day will be when I'm done and coming home through some of the most gorgeous rolling hills in southern Iowa on two lane roads with very light traffic listening to Garrison Keeler on Prairie Home Companion---the stress just melts away.

I still have 2 sites so far that tell me I must enable cookies and one is photobucket. Brent help!!!

YIPES!!!!! Twin tornados on the ground about 30 minutes ago. Don in Cumberland Co./ Fayetteville [Ft. Bragg] area. Moved up I 95. South bound I 95 at standstill. SHP says 18 wheeler overturned and blocking all lanes. Trees across the interstate and lots of wreck. They were about 20 miles apart moving northeast which took one right up I 95. Seems to have calmed down now.

I enjoy everything American Flyer, although I have very little of Flyer HO. What I do have is mainly just to show that Gilbert did have a toe in that market, and to have some comparison pieces when I put on exhibits. How do you like the way Flyer HO engines run? Are they reliable?

Came home after a long day - cleaned up the house, especially the bathrooms, then it's beer, pizza, basketball on TV and trains. Nothing better for my last day as a bachelor before the fam comes back from their vacay tomorrow afternoon. Beacon is on, Brutus!Oh, plenty of cheese popcorn too.
The Steamers are nearly bullet proof. I run them a lot. The plastic gears on Diesels are fragile. Some run and last well and others disintegrate

Brutus, We had a conversation out here and decided we would share with YOU the results of our testing. (No one even responded to the original post regarding the significant accomplishment, so that is why I had to respond to it myself!) The result were disappointing! The Session Programming feature will not work with the TMCC/Legacy engines. An error message displays "This engine will not respond with this function". So the only alternative would be to "integrate' those operation commands with the Cab1/Cab2 hand helds. I think it can be done and will try that next. But, I certainly see a high potential for a mistake, we will see.

30's and cloudy here today. Hopefully the snow will miss us. One of my friends in Michigan called me at work today asking if it was snowing yet. I think he was getting even with me for braging about the temperature being in the 70's and the forsythia bushes being in bloom when I called him last week.
I live about 30 miles east of Whitman Air Force Base where the stealth bombers (B2's) live. It is not uncommon to see one in flight.
I was really surprised last night when I was up running my trains when an O scale stealth showed up over my set up. A brown bat, with a wingspan of about 12" circled the train table a couple of times, then went back to wherever it came from!
On one hand, it is kind of a cool layout accessory. On the other hand, it is not good. Maybe I'll start running the helicopter and satelite launching cars.
Think it is a sign that I need to start collecting the Halloween stuff?
Just tried the edit key on the forum. Seems to have worked. Spell check is going to be the downfall of civilization - I'm lost without it!

Just got home from services and a late meeting. The grandkids are with the other grandparents tonight so it is quiet around here. I want to try and get Doug's caron the layout for some shots. It is really a neat car.

Bed time. Been watching The American President. Don't agree on their handgun stand but still great movie. Been raining hard off and on. Sump pump running a lot. Guess TV has shown videos of I 95 blocked by trees and 18 wheeler. One guy stopped and videoed the tornado coming at him. Usually you don't see them as hilly or lots of tall pine trees. Not like out in Kansas and Ioway. They [the twins] kept bouncing up and down for quite a while. Then went off shore in lower VA. More for tomorrow they say. Can hardly stay awake now. Meds getting ot me. Mom Ok but staying in hospital until Sunday afternoon or Monday AM. OH!!!!! Grandson Carter [will be 2 this coming week] rode his toy motorcycle down the steps from the second floor. Since he was not Evil Kenviel, got big knot on his head. He did real good as they gave him a blanket and told him he had to stay still through his CT scan. He did. All OK. Think his Mom [Youngest] was in worse shape than he was. Sleep tight.
