Just got home at 3:15 p.m., it's pouring and blowing, rain almost horizontal. Haven't heard of any tornado warnings on the radio on the way home luckily. My sister down in Boca Raton lucked out again, Jeanne came ashore north of them so power out is their worse problem for now.

Tornados south of us. One in the southern part of this county. Mostly trees and powerlines. We have only gotten about 1 tenth of an inch of rain so far. Most rain is west of us where the mountains are already flooded. Will sleep with one ear listening to the weather alert. Good night and God bless.

Sleepy this AM. Weather alert kept me up till 1:00 AM. Then it was going off again at 5:00 AM. Rotations south and west of us in Wake County [Wake County was not in the Tornado Watch area, HUMMM] Did a little damage last night [or early this AM]. Don't think the one at 5 did much. Strange. Rolesville may have had a little over a tenth of an inch of rain. We stay between bands of storms. God bless all.

Pretty cool and cloudy this am. I took my 10 year old to work so we can go to a Cubs game tonight for his birthday - tickets courtesy of his uncle. I'm glad I commute by train - took us 2 1/2 hours to drive in. This'll be our first night game.

Wish I could go to a Major League game. [:(] Tickets for our Minor League teams [Durham Bulls and Mudcats] cost too much for a family to have fun. Then they want a fortune for a hot dog. Can't have baseball without hot dogs.

Hey, Chief the next time you are in Cincinnati at BPS, you should be able to get free tickets to the Reds from the clerk at your hotel. The tickets are on a roll right next to the commode.

I just want to see the game, not buy the team.

Finally got some much needed rain here. This is my favorite time of year when weather cools and insects start dying.

Working out with my new power rack and lat machine. Cost a pretty penny, $1,200 incl bench. On 4th draft of my screenplay, titled Billy Reb. Includes Civil War trains, toy and real. Unfortunately, writing has temporarily stalled work on layout.

BB the beagle says hi to all. I'm still trying to read thru latest CTT. Looks pretty good so far.

Life in Pentagon pretty good. I create the daily home page, photos and articles on www.army.mil if you're interested.

Does AL mean Alabama? Hope everything works smoothly for Dr. John. Yep, major league baseball games are incredibly expensive, but we saved up for this - still, $4 for a skinny piece of pizza.... there were three (unrelated) pairs of dads-and-sons near our seats but oh boy do the night games bring out the youngish inebriated yahoos...Cubs were losing big, so left a bit early to beat the ru***o the El, and got home by 1030 pm. And it was cold too. Did you get the Lionel email newsletter? Not a mention of any internal changes and an interesting brief survey - asking if you purchased something from an authorized dealer this past year - then if you agreed to participate, asked for name, address, email, if you received their e-newsletter and where you bought from, brick-and-mortar store, Internet outlet, or mail order. Would like to see the results...

Yes Doug, did the survey. Problem, had to select one [seemed that way]. I bought from several sources. Big deal. Polar Express but no delivery date given. Just told when the movie comes out. Got to run and get to the lake. [:D]

Good Morning All,

W- - k has been busy. Cool morning in NE Ohio – temp at 48 with a high in mid 60’s. Well you know what is coming.

Hey Chief, we have both pro sports and minor league baseball here in Cleveland. All we need is some good healthy players. Our minor league baseball team tickets are $8.00 each and $5.00 for bleacher – lawn seats, the Indians tickets start at $22.50 and goes up from there. The last time I went to an Indians game, I paid $28.50 per seat, $15.00 for parking, $5.00 for beer, $3.00 for peanuts, etc. not cheap. I don’t know how people can afford season tickets, could by a lot of trains with that kind of money.

See you all later

Morning, all!

Just a quick note. I'm surrounded by boxes of books and office stuff here in my office in Mobile. I'll load them up this afternoon to take them to Prattville, AL tomorrow. I move up on October 8. Hopefully our house will sell quickly and we can get the whole family moved ASAP. Trains are having to take a back seat (last row in the coach?) for now. I'm hoping we can find a house with a large bonus room as basements are rare in Alabama.

Soon to be from Cental Alabama and not Lower Alabama . . .

Hey Dave, I checked it out and it looks pretty good. I was very surprised actually at how deep it went. I was expecting a military website to be a giant campaign slogan with a list of recruiting offices and that was about it.

I hope I am remembering this right that you were a jarhead. When my oldest brother went to join the military (must have been about '76) he called my mother from the Marine recruiters office. He wanted to bring him home for dinner. My mother told my brother she would never let him in the door. He ended up in the Airforce. I am sure recruiters heard that alot.

By the way--I looked and looked and looked.......NO TRAINS?!?!?!?![:0][;)][:p]

Are they really going to be called the Senators again? Neat. Tom, I love your picture of the day. I am working hard today on a work project - from home. Dang, it's gorgeous out again - little warmer, sunny, dry. The leaves are turning fast as it's so dry...Probably not going to get into the basement anytime soon. Dr. John, you're in my prayers for a swift and uneventful move

Doug,
Thanks! It's tough leaving Mobile. I've served churches in this area for 24 years. Prattville is a nice town and very near Montgomery (the state capitol). Plus, we'll only be about an hour's drive to Birmingham where my daughter lives.

Tom, that is a good looking steamer. Hope to get me some newer ones in the future. Tom, if you do not quite using the "W" word, going to have to ban you from the forum. [;)] Speaking of the "W" word, got to blow the leaves out into the middle of the yard and bag them with the riding mower [don't know the word rake]. That time of the year in NC. Have monster willow oak in front yard. It has tiny long leaves and tons of them. From now till Christmas. The pecans will dump all at once when it frosts. Leaves go on the garden to make the great veggies. Real cloudy so if it sprinkles, train time instead of yard time. God bless all.

They say we've had 90+% days of sunshine since this spat of hurricanes - and today's another one - cool but beautiful - still can wear short-sleeves mid-afternoon. Don't know if I'll try cutting the grass once more before 'fall' - I've only cut it once in 3 months - that's how dry it is...Did you get a mail-in survey for the Nov. issue of CTT - 41 interesting questions

Doug, according to the WC, you should be getting rain and then turning cold. Think Elliot is due a big freeze tonight.

Hi Big Girl,

I'm the only person in Virginia who loves the cold; can't wait unti the first frost kills off some of the insect critters.

I've been concentrating so hard on writing my screenplay and increasingly would like to put it aside for just long enough to finish part of my layout. In the near future I may start up construction again. The toy train bug is biting. Maybe a cold snap will kill it so I stop itching.

Did you see the debates? Amtrak not mentioned once!

Dave--if you got the flow going with the writing run with it. You never know when the wall will pop up. You got a lot of cold ahead to do trains.
