You know the story of the guy who told his wife that he was going fishing. When he returned home, he questioned his wife that she didn’t pack him any socks. She said, “yes I did, they were in your tackle box!!!”.

Chief, you better make sure that you open your tackle box.

Dave, I got a kick out of your post on helicopter moms. Since we have an only child, I think we both were helicopter parents. I think the reason this has come about since our generation is because there is more trouble for kids to get into. If you add in the divorce rate and latchkey kids I think you will agree. At any rate when my daughter was small we had quite a large ranch in Tx. and most of the time her friends were hanging out with her and her horses.I think my input in her childhood with her own HO gauge trainsand also taking her with me on many construction jobs when she was 8-12 yrs old helped for her to realize exactly how the world works... and to shape her formative years ..she learned the no work no money formula very young. Anyways she graduated with honors from Baylor University this May. Wish her luck as she is going on a job interview Thursday with the New York Times . And no we werent rich, just a lot of hard work and the big guy from above smiling down on us.........Tim

Good Morning all,

It is another cool morning of 45 degs in NE Ohio. I believe this is going to be the norm now, after all, it is Fall. I guess the good thing to remember, many post card and Christmas cards have been made with how pretty the fresh fall snow scene is. How many cards have been made on how pretty a hurricane is[?] We will take the snow when it comes.

Hey I saw Chief at the fishing hole this morning

I guess he found his socks. [(-D]

Cold and sunny again today - saw an interesting sight on the train ride into Chicago - 5 old bi-level gallery cars in North Ave. yard ready to go to the scrapper.

Boy oh boy you guys really got my goat on the reed switch post I did. After reading all the post I almost soiled myself laughing. Apparently when I get done with this project I will be NASA certified and be able to do miniature circuitry rewires on the shuttle. All I wanted to do was have the space shuttle cut its lights when it passed overhead our house .I didnt realize what I started when I gave CTT a heads up for the article..............Tim

Good Morning all from the North Coast.

It is another cool morning at 45 deg in NE Ohio. High is going to be high 60’s with Blue Clear Sky day. Sounds like a perfect fall day, as the leaves are already turning colors.

Hope Chief is planning a big fish fry for all of us [tup] [dinner]

Spanky and I were running the trains last night

All be safe today.

Wow, is it warm here today - high 70s and sunny - v. dry though. We can't let this thread go to the next page in the Chief's absence. Our 2 year old woke up at 430 am today. You can imagine how 'happy' he is right now - off to put him down for a nap. (I'm working at home today) I succumbed to opportunity last evening - I had just stopped in to 'look' - and bought another 25 ft of track and a switch minutes before the Hobbytowne USA was closing for the night. Successfully snuck it all into the basement - now have to put it together quietly...

Rained a bit this morning - first moisture in a v. long time. Warmer. Hope you are all safe and productive today. Now I'm noticing how I'm both leaving and coming home from work in the dark. Soon, it'll be more politicially acceptable to go work in the basement!

Hope you all have a nice 3-day weekend (if you're lucky enough not to work on Monday).

I'll try to squeeze in some toy train time. Nice weather, no more ticks bothering BB the beagle so she's roaming the woods once more in search of prey.

Cheers.

Hey Chief, Glad to have you back! On CSI last night did you catch that hot babe going into the sewer without confined space safety equipment. I also laughed when they were making the sewer stew. Why didn't they just go out to the treatment plant and get a gallon or two of the brew for the testing?

@pigseyes, I think that a lot of children have a higher goal to meet then we had to when we where young. At least in Holland they barely have time to be a "child". They all have to grow up quickly, learn more and have higher expectations to meet. In my time I made up my mind about what proffession I would like to learn when I was about 18 years old, my daughter is 14 and needs to decide a profession allready.. (Theater and television). We try to give them as many good influences as possible, and (lucky for me too) it works out, but other's her age are drinking, smoking and having sex. It's not an easy world to raise kids.
Whish her luck next tuesday, I hope she'll get the job. And be proud of her (and yourself) that she will make it in the world.. Not everyone get's that far.
@spanky, have a nice weekend too (and all the others of course)! Hope it doesn't steam away that fast.. (Though I've to work nightshifts..)
Daan. I'm Dutch, but only by country...

Just for Buckeye and Tom:

the only little fish caught the first day.

A Yankee fish I caught the last day. [toothy critter]

Partner and house owner finally catches one the second day.

The great fisherman driving his Ranger bass boat.

The Weapon on the trailer ready to return home.

First two days were slow as high pressure and wind from NE. Last day, wind died, we caught lots of fish [including the little Muskee, which I thought was a Jack at first. ID'd him from book before releasing]. Loaned GPS with lots of good waypoints for return trips [1hour and 15 minutes away].

Not all fish were photoed [forgot camera one trip out]. [:p] Mrs. Pauls was the smallest and only fish caught the first afternoon. My guide wanted to use spinner baits. I taught him how to use a crankbait in cover the next day. We caught fish.

Our meager fish camp.

Daan , Thanks for your words of encouragement. Chief , I think we watch the same TV shows. I like CSI but not the spin offs. Law & Order Criminal Intent is the wifes favorite. She likes the guy Detective, whatever his name is... Also has anyone been watching Rescue Me on FX? Crude language, but what would you expect in a NYC Firehouse?. Personall I think the show is hilarious. Maybe Ive been in construction too long........Tim

Just visited your homepage SB. Where (in Ohio) do you look for train related stuff when there's no show in town ?

I''ve been to Warren's and a two more on the westside, near Hopkins. Glenns in Akron.

Any others ? Anything left in Euclid ? Near 222nd I believe.
