Morning gang. Had to get up early [8AM]. Got one of my committee members coming by to drive me to the lake. Meeeting with new "Super". Then we will hit a restaurant on the way back. Rough life. [;)] Just for all you YANKS: Only 60 degrees right now and on the way to 70 [a decrease from the last few days]. Cold spell coming with high only 58 and then back to 60's and 70's. Sorry guys. [:p] Think most summed up the SW air thing. No assigned seating and herded on like cattle. Hey, maybe I should take the train to Baltimore BPS show. [?] Have a good one and God bless.

Woke up to a foot of snow on the ground and cancelled schools - wimps - why, when I was a young 'un, we used to travel through snow up to our necks....uh, um, where was I? Oh, yeah. Good thing I don't have to go anywhere today - though I think I'll get it over with and ask the kids if they want to go sledding - now - instead of when everyone else wakes up and goes outside. I did shovel out a path for the dogs and the driveway until the plow comes by - my inoperable snow blower is sitting in the garage mocking me. Hope to muse on where to place my signal light on the layout - the semaphore I put next to my 'new' Girard station - looks great. Hmmm, have to hook up the Girard too.

Good morning all, hope everyone has a great day today. Life is too short to be grumpy, and you can't be grumpy working and playing with a train.

I had to walk up uphill to school - both ways (of course I was lost as always)!

Since I live in the land of SW headquarters - we get lots of news on them.

SW recently announced they are evaluating assigned seating for their flights.

I cannot use them as the Wright Amendment (created the support for DFW airport between Ft Worth and Dallas and was supposed to lead to the closing of Love Field) means I can only fly from Dallas Love Field to the adjacent states to Texas - then you have to get off the plane, collect your luggage, and then recheck into your next flight! They cannot even quote a ticket for travel outside of the 5 state area. You have to buy two tickets!

Below freezing here but roads are dry after 3.5 inches of rain this week when it was 70.

Roy

Hello Laz 57! How far are you from Jermyn.? That is the town my father grew up in.And his Father was a Coal mine forman for the Hudson Colliery in Jermyn. The Colliery is long gone now. Wish I had Pictures of it when it was in existence for my family history. If you go up to Jermyn next Christmas you will see a Prewar 1688 Freight set running in the window of Avery's Flower shop on 638 Washington ave in Jermyn. Mr.Avery is the Town Historian so to speak and I gave him the 1688 set as a Thank You for his Hospitality on my visits to Jermyn in the Summer of 2003 & 2004. I plan on going again sometime this coming summer not sure what month yet though.Hope all have a good day.........Keith.[:)]

Tom,

A while back you described how to add one's personal photo in a reasonable size to the signature line.

Can you repost it here - too difficult to search back through this thread.

Also - does anyone use the avatar? No instructions are given in forum help.

Afternoon. WARM, windy and mostly cloudy. Shirt sleves again. Been to meeting at lake, ate at restaurant, went and got treats for boys, and sunflower seeds for birds. We are all fed good. [:D] Now I need to rest. [:p] Laz, I looked at the smoke unit. Need to check with them on how the unit works on diesels. Says, idle, smokes lightly, speed up, smokes a lot. If works on voltage, OK. As old MPC diesels are nothing but EUnit and motor. I think Ben or Jerry did one. We'll see. Hey, I saw a real train today. Well, through bushes. A CSX consist. first one I've seen in months. Told the guy driving me, I'm part Indian and I can tell that a train just crossed here. He said, "How" I said, "See, it left its tracks." Enough corn for one day. Later

Hi Roy,

There are two ways to do it. I check and see that you are using Comcast for your photo host, therefore you will need to re-size your pic before up loading it to about 48 x 48 pixels. Your photo editor should have a re-size command in it.

If you are using Shutterfly as your host you can just get the URL address of the thumb nail pic on your album.

In your profile, on the signature line area, add it just like posting on the forum, using the IMG command.

The avatar is not active on the forum software.

Buckeye, I believe you are correct. Ball is in your court.

I just saw on the afternoon news that there is a big boat show at the convention center this weekend. Perfect timing because the way the weather people are talking we might need one. They have already posted flash flood watches thru next tuesday night with the coastal areas getting 1 to 2 inches of rain per day and the inland valleys and mountains getting as much as 6 inches per day. Now that's a lot of rain for an area that normally gets less than 10 inches per year. Should we start loading the critters two by two or what?

They did have a minor quake just north of here this morning, I believe they said it was a 4.1 in the Ventura area or San Berdoo. Didn't feel a thing.

Hello Tom,

The MS Photo Editor resize command only allows specification of size in inches. What size do you suggest?

Afternoon folks,
They were saying no snow for use, but it looks like we may get it afterall. The temperature when I went into schoold today was about 50, and it was 34 when I got in a few minutes ago. We're also getting some very, very fine rainy snow ice crystal type stuff, though it doesn't amount to anything.

Hey 1688TORPEDO,
I am located about 100 miles south of Jermyn Pa. I grew up about 45 miles south of there in Hazleton. I will have to make it a point to stop there this summer when I take a ride to Steamtown and check out Mr. Avery"s flower shop. I will have my wife in tow and she will deffinitly like this change of scenery.

Good Morning all,

NE Ohio is a quite morning at 31 deg. Northern Ohio has about 200,000 people without electric power from this weeks winter storm. As I had mostly snow, just south of us and north of Buckeye, was another big Ice Strom. Some areas had an 1” of ice, so many down trees and power lines. Now as the temp warms up, come the flooding.

Chief, better get the pretty smelling smoke fluid to keep Mrs. Chief happy.

Pick of the Day – End of the week

all be safe
